Cantinho do Aziz Leeds - Portuguese restaurant in Leeds, United Kingdom
We went here as a group of 6 for dinner and loved every minute. Our waitress was very friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious! The pastel de nata for desert was the icing on the cake. Couldn’t recommend more! 10/10
Very nasty rude and aggressive attitude, we came looking forward to trying this out, but on arrival found that there was only one table inside, and that was already occupied, we were told more tables are available upstairs, so we went up to see, yep, more tables, but no other people up there, we didnt fancy sitting upstairs in a room with no other people, there was just an empty feel about it, no atmosphere, no vibrant feeling, so we came back down, well.. the guy behind the counter became very aggressive, nasty and rude, asking what was our problem, we just said we didnt want to sit in somewhere with no other customers, no atmosphere, he said do you want to eat or be with people, you should be better at McDonalds, very quick tempered man, made us feel intimidated and was embarrassing. Nasty vulgar and aggressive attitude, would definitely not recommend or go there ever again.
Yikes so bad. Nothing was seasoned, not even a pinch of salt. The steak was so over done it was sad, just completely lost any flavour and colour the meat should have had... It was advertised as "the most expensive cut of meat" and they absolutely murdered it. What decent chef cooks a steak the entire way through and then some? Im wondering if they only serve good food to dine in and not take out orders?
Delicious food 🍲😋
I visited with the missus after spending the day in Leeds city centre. A fantastic family run restaurant. The owner is such a friendly guy with a real passion for Portuguese food. The meal was mouth-wateringly beautiful washed down with a few bottles of reasonably priced Superbock. Very good value for money. Well definitely return next time were in Leeds.
Excellent prawn curry. Well priced rose and good service
Really great place, really great food but the food changes quite frequently in regarding to the quality, the bread changes or they start freezing it and its just not the same.
Came for some food, and it was amazing, I had beef stir fry and Paul had double burger and chips, would highly recommend this place to anyoneThe staff always make you welcome, whether youre old customers or new
We had the sea food platter and it was as amazing! What a treat after work! Then we had a chicken sandwich which was super tasty! What a find!
It is a very good place to eat, and being a Portuguese living in Leeds its the perfect place to go when I need a little taste of Portugal.
Nice place, good steak food, easy going atmosphere, friendly staff. What more can you want?
Fantastic steak, Acebolada (think 😅), it was really juicy, done perfectly. Although the sides of Rice and Chips was an overkill carb-wise. It would be good to give us an option of choosing a side along with a compulsory one. But apart from that, I had their food three times now. Once via deliveroo the food was ok. But second time I went to the shop and had their lunch sandwich and it was brilliant ✌️✌️✌️. But todays steak topped it all off !
I love this place with African and Brazilian influences the best muqueca I ever had. I will be back soon.
Great, simple, Portuguese food done especially well, with a nice local/family vibe. I couldn’t recommend it enough, especially the Pichanha steak and onions.
Very good food, nice samosa and rissoes de camarao (praws). Will be back.
Best customer service ever and the food is to die for. Would definitely recommend
Very nice food and lovely staff 👌
Top place, was really well welcomed by the guys at the door to start, just went for the portuguese beers and for a chat and it was like being home.It was busy and a good environment around the chefs si come back for food next time i am in.Thank you !!
Food is delicious, staff is super acommodating however service was slow
Good food, warm welcome...Saved in my favourite for next time Im around Leeds City!!
lovely little hidden gem only popped it for a quick cocktail but really nice and very welcoming staff.... would definitely come bk
Visited this place as it was recommended. The place is situated under the bridge and opposite the Hilton Hotel so was easy to find. The seating area was cramped with the furniture being to close. It was dark. It was a Saturday evening but place was quiet. I ordered the bread which was soft and warm - it came with small tubs of fish pate which didnt look appealing. My children had the kids meals. Very disappointed. Breast chicken pieces lacked flavour and were rubbery. The cheese burger looked and tasted dry. The chicken wings starter was ok - spicy kick to them. My cod fish bites came with some sort of oil which wasnt explained. The other main was peri peri chicken that looked better. The rice tasted ok - but probably just warmed up. Maybe this type of food didnt meet my taste expections. There was a long wait between the kids starters and the one main we ordered. The waitress was polite but she didnt smile much. When we went to pay they asked my husband if he liked the food. Then the two staff started talking in different language and looked at us. Found that uncomfortable.
Great little find, unfortunately we had already eaten, but stayed for wine, and something sweet. Staff all friendly and a great vibe for a sunny evening. Will be back
We love it here! Friendly, food or just drinks. Outside seating with canopy and lights. Great staff.
The person in the restraint had the absolute worst character. He’s a Brazilian Muslim from Brazil and wears 2 earrings. He absolutely pathetic. I don’t know how any customer would enjoy their stay there with his attitude
Lovely little place ..will defo be back. And with an outdoor TV:)
Nice place with good food. The owners are too nice. The quality/price is good
The food was good, delicious chicken, friendly service. But difficult to get to. Ignore Google maps and turn in to Sovereign Place
Great service, super tasty food. So happy I stumbled across this little gem
A month or so ago it used to be decent. For the price it had (£7.5for a chicken and egg burger with some fries you couldn’t really complain if the chicken was a little bit rubbery. It happens. Or if they miss items when you order for delivery, sure honest mistake. And now!£9 for a chicken and egg burgerNo fries or anything else, I am surprised they included sauce on the burger. And let’s be totally honest, that is NOT a burger. It’s a sandwich in a small soggy bun that has a chicken filet 0.5-1.0cm thick + over fried egg with a small strip of cheddar, toss some shredded lettuce and done. That’ll be 9 quid mate.Go to Rajas you will get better value for your money.
Super-hot chilli sauce. Great little spot for an authentic Portuguese lunch. You might whiff of joss sticks for the rest of the afternoon. Whats not to like? Smallish menu of piri-piri, beef and chicken meals. Beers including Portuguese. Great staff, great atmosphere. Very reasonable prices!
Great lunch deals, got served in 15 minutes at peak lunch time! Highly recommended, the food was excellent. Will come back!
We had a fantastic lunch at Cantinho do Aziz. We’ve eaten in many Portuguese restaurants in Lisbon, the Algarve and in the UK, and this one is one of the best! The food was great, the Super Bock was cold, but it was the hospitality of Aziz and Rafaela that made it so special. The camarão and the bacalhau were superb. We’ll be back! Obrigado Aziz. :-)
Great food. Nice staff. Well worth a visit.
Food is great. Tasty and fresh!Location is good, in the core of the city center!I just wont give 5 stars because it took us around 30-35min to be served. But it was 1pm, so a bit understandable...
Awsome portugese place that also does halal food. As you can see from the pictures I went a bit mad for the sea food. The calamari was especially nice. The steak with egg and mushroom sauce was nice so was the chicken pasta. However clearly the highlight was the mixed plate of sea food for me. I had been searching for something like this for ages in London to no avail. Great staff and on Tuesdays I think its buy one get one free hence all the food I bought and finished.
Nipped in for the Loo while at the Extinction Rebellion protest. The smell hooked me so I gave the Peri-peri chicken deal a shot. Amazing, I used to work at Nandos, glad i got to taste what real Peri-peri is like! Cannot recommend enough! This is what makes Britain such a wonderful place, to be able to walk into a family run business and taste authentic world foods in the centre of a British City!Good luck and God bless guys!
Had the Aziz steak burger what a treat this was for £5.00 Ill be back again friday 😍
The setting is neat and cosy. The food was delicious! I did not want rice or fries with my meal and I was served what seemed like a more generous portion! Thanks to the staff. The pastel de natas are delicious and one needs self control to stop eating them.
After trying the one in Lisbon, i just had to eat here on my return! Like in Lisbon, the food here is delicious, i highly recommend this place!Located opposite the Hilton Hotel across the road
I am only writing this review for the consideration of this restaurant. I have eaten here before on weekdays and the food has been amazing. Today I ordered in, and the food was inedible. Maybe they have a different chef on a Sunday and if that is the case then they need to look at making a change because I really like this restaurant and it’s such a same to have had experience.
Upon arriving to the restaurant i was welcomed by wonderful smiles, the server took the time to take me through the menu, they even made a few suggestions after taking time to understand my tastes, including the level of spice.Upon receiving the food, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and the amount of food received for a very reasonable price indeed. The server even made the effort to make sure everything was exactly what I had asked for.All in all it was a great experience, lovely food, staff and atmosphere, it certainly is a hidden Gem as others have claimed. I envisage many more visits to come.
Excellent food and great and friendly staff. Great desserts too.
Nice little restaurant. Good food and great prices.
Love it 😍My first time in Leeds and in this restaurant where we were treated very well. The food was amazing ,fresh ,tasty and unbelievably fast was we were starving😜I can only say thank you!!Boa sorte
Lovely food, décor was nice and staff was friendly. As a Portuguese citizen was fantastic to have a few flavours from home. Slightly overpriced for some dishes so if on a budget stick to the hearty meat dishes that was delicious 👌
Excellent food, cozy place and nice staff, absolutely recommend!
Great food (the moqueca was excellent!at a reasonable price. Very good location in the city centre. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy Portuguese and Mozambican flavours in Leeds! :)
Excellent food, great owners, adequate pricing. Well worth a try.
Small place, seating about 20. Wonderful authentic food and atmosphere. Excellent Portuguese drinks and all reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great place to try something a little different.
