48-52 Canal St, Nottingham NG1 7EH, Nottingham
Waterside pub with a canal extending inside, plus real ales, international beers and unfussy food.
Very good range of beers and reasonably priced tasty sandwiches in a prime location. Id be a regular if I lived in Nottingham!
I have always loved the Canalhouse. Fantastic staff, great selection of beers on tap, LGBT+ friendly. Its got a brilliant atmosphere, and the canalside location is lovely. Its my number one go to pub in Nottingham.
Great selection of real ales, knowledgeable staff with a great ambiance both inside and outside make this pub a must for any visit to Nottingham
Not been here for years. Bar staff quick to serve even though busy, food looked great but didnt eat.
Nice decor inside and good seating next to the canal. Unfortunately staff seemed disinterested and cold. The food was poor. The venision burger was dryer than the Sahara and the BBQ burger was cold and bland, yet with a strange aftertaste.Staff gave a refund without any trouble, but the overall experience was poor. Spend your money elsewhere.
Very good choice of beer and has an amazing ambiance. Perfect place to unwind after a long day!
Kodi was an excellent host, I have broken my leg and she assisted me with getting to the toilet.she has been an absolute pleasure and made my first experience back into the night life amazing
Fantastic pub but the food was really poor, infact we were both ill the next day!
They have a real mini dock in their bar!
I cannot thank Amy enough for our wonderful wedding reception! The room looked stunning, the food was banging and everyone left saying how beautiful the venue was and I couldn’t agree more.We will most certainly be planning events here again and especially if Amy orchestrates it.Cannot rate highly enough ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lovely river side bar especially in the sun , can get very busy , glad we found a seat , very lovely atmosphere .
Great place to have a few drinks inside or out my the canal. Dog friendly too which is great.
One of the best if not the best pub in Nottingham. Has extensive seating options and can seat large groups. Great selection of beers with some really unusual ones too! Lots of other drinks available for non beer and cider drinkers. Staff are really knowledgeable and will give recommendations. They also host other events such as comedy nights which are good fun too.
Very cool place, great service, lovely views from the outside area and great selection of beers. Will be back for sure.
Lovely inside walk over a bridge with barge under with all lights around. By the canal. Only had drinks, but food menu looks good. Lovely find on trip here
2 stars for the actual building which is quite unique inside as its built over the canal and has a large seating area outside. However food was absolutely horrible (i had a beef chilliand one of the barmaids wilfully ignored me.
Great selection of beers but food was terrible. Had steak and ale pie. A thimble full of meat. Very poor for £11.
One of my favourites in nottingham for a tasty beer, probably rivalled only by Junkyard Tap and Pourhouse for its beer offering.I’ve not had food there, only drinks. The drinks are always great, if a little pricey (but no more expensive than anywhere else in nottingham).Easy to access from the train station, it’s great for after-work beers. It also has a great pub garden overlooking the canal.
The location of this place is perfect. Also, as a pub it is very unique. However, the experience there was quite disappointing.I ordered a medium cooked Rump Steak and it wasnt even well done, it was congratulations. It was like a brick, I couldnt even chew it. Moreover, the scampi was tasteless.
Another quirky pub you cross a bridge to get to it over moored boats. Reasonably priced too. The outside seating area looks out over the canal. Fantastic place. I pity the men tho they have to go up 2 flights to toilet.
Very nice atmosphere. Excellent choice of drinks. Very quirky open space interior with even narrowboats moored inside
Lovely place for dinner. Good reasonably priced and great location next to the canal. There is even a bit of the canal in the pub with some boats on!
Great pub, great beers! The terrace along the canal permits to enjoy a bit of freshness during hot days.
Good selection of ales and drinks. Food is good, if a little pricey, but to be expected. Nice spot to sit outside and have a drink with friends. Toilets could be better kept imo
Good, roomy pub with interesting layout and good beers. Our team had lunch there Friday. All the dishes were served promptly and looked good. I had the prawn. Gumbo from the specials board and it really hot the spot.
Great venue for a group meetup. Lovely chilled atmosphere, not loud, friendly staff, and the location is spot on. Ooo, nice food and drink also.
Great pub with a huge selection of ales / beers. Huge seating area outside and lots of space in side also. There are two canal boats sat inside in on the water. You walk over the bridge inside to the bar area.
Canalhouse has a nice atmosphere for evening drinks or during the day. Outside they have lot of tables if you want to relax in the sun and watch the canal go by.The inside is interesting and cool as you go over a little bridge or walk round the water (50 steps extra maybe???).The beer selection is wide, lots on the tap and fair amount of unusual drinks if you feeling adventurous. When it hits 9pm the audience does disappear so if you want a quiet and fancy area to drink, this be your cup of tea. That was Saturday so cant speak for other days.Only reason why it a 4 star, the kitchen wasnt available for the public on the day and i was hoping to have food at the place...
Awesome pub, literally situated over a canal near the lively waterfront area of Notts. Owned by Castle Rock brewery so has a range of Castle Rock beers as well as lots of other guest ales, craft beer and cider. Serves good pub food and while quieter during the day, it gets busy in the evenings especially Friday and Saturday night. Has a function room that can be hired.
Amazing selection of beers. With knowledgeable staff able to help you choose. They also have a good function room able to cater for your needs.
Whilst visiting Nottingham for work, I spent a few hours in their very busy and buzzing beer garden sinking a few pints with my colleagues. Loved how this former canal bonding warehouse (I presume thats what it used to behas been converted into a pub, complete with narrowboats and a footbridge over the water inside the building. Plenty of staff behind the bar as well. Ive knocked a star off for the gents being on the 3rd floor (quite a climb with a belly full of beerand the burger I ordered off their specials menu wasnt anything special and could have benefited from some garnish and sauce between its bun halves. Overall a good experience though.
Live this place with the canal boats in it. Decent choice of beers on cask and keg.
Loved my visit to this bar. Very vibrant and friendly. Lovely outside area adjacent to the canal, worth a visit.
Absolutely busy during platty joobs. Definitely a hotspot on the canal. Great food, vibes and loads of beer selections.
I only popped in here for a quick pint after work, so I cant comment on the food. The Canalhouse had a fantastic selection of beers, too many to choose from. I was very tempted by one of the stouts they had on offer, which was 11.5% but at the time it was too early to try that! The barstaff were friendly and knew the beers as well.I was really surprised to see that they still have canal boats inside the building, which was really impressive.
Really enjoyed lunch here. Managed to sit outside in the sunshine. Just had loaded skins and nachos but enjoyed both. Going over the canal and two boats to get to the bar made it feel a bit like a game of Tomb Raider. See pictures.
First visit here, whilst visiting granddaughter in Nottingham. Wanted somewhere nice to take her for lunch. As we dont know Nottingham, she suggested the Canal house. It was a beautiful day & we sat outside next to the canal. It has a canopy so no fear of getting wet if rained. Inside the building is a little bridge over the canal with boats inside, very effective & evocative of the days when it would have been a warehouse. Service was quick, staff were friendly. Ordered food after we went outside with our drinks. Food arrived quickly & was cooked to perfection. Very pleasant place to sit & while away the afternoon. Thoroughly enjoyed. Recommended, will visit again..
Fabulous old warehouse of when the canal was at its heyday of commercial carrying. It still has two narrow boats moored within. Good range of beers although some rather expensive. Ladies and gents in second and third floors I was unaware of a disabled one. Dogs are welcome. Certainly worth a vist
A very beautiful place for the summer days ahead. Apart from the good quality good and th selection of drinks, as well as thw wonderful and tranquil location near the Railway station in Nottingham there are a few things that one has to have love for detail to see.The entrance, despite feeling a bit narrow, it actually provides safety from petty thiebes for the customers. There is plenty of sheltered and shaded seating outside and there is even a small parking at the front yard. There is also enough protection from the waterfront too.A unique feature is that the water of the canal enters the house and one needs to cross an indoors bridge to get to the bar. It is a breathtaking feature. The whole atmosphere is wonderful and I enjoyed every minute I spent there, the location, the food, the architecture to the features and the creativity of the designers.
Decent pub with a great beer garden. They do a good range of beers and other drinks. You can sit outside by the canal which is great in the summer. The one thing I would say is that the food could be better. Compared to the Embankment (another Castle Rockthe food was a bit basic. Overall though great for summers afternoons and evenings.
Lunch todaySuch a lovely pub and setting on a beautiful sunny day.We had a little bite to eat sat outside in the sunshine.6oz Beef Burger £10.95 +50p for Onion RingsThe chips were nice, burger and Bun not so.Chicken and Bacon Salad £9.95Very dry salad leaves not enough dressing, had to ask for more.On the specials board wasCrispy Calamari and Cheese Bites £5.95The staff were very friendly and helpful. We dont like to be negative but the food was disappointing. Its not a Gastro Pub.
Great team here!!.. top food, brill range of beers & ciders and all in a fantastic building..could stay for days🥴🍻 six mins walk from the train station, literally just over the bridge.. so makes an excellent waiting area😂!!One downside.. the trek up to the loos!!
Not much to add that hasnt already been said... Flagship pub of the Castle Rock chain with its expected large range of drinks, food is good value and above average quality, friendly staff and rustic wooden interior. Well worth visiting. M
Really nice pub with interesting history with the canel and boats! Very good beer selection and box ciders are grate too.We sat outside next to the water and the canopy was lit all night. Grate atmosphere.
Oh what a fantastic place. Incredible selection of beers and a great seating area outside, along the canal. Located near the train station and should be your first stop if you are visiting Nottingham for a boozy weekend or night out. Contender for best pub in the city.
Very large pub on the Nottingham Canal in an old canal house. Tons of seating outside which would be perfect on nice sunny day. Inside is spacious with big fat leather couches and chairs. Beer selection is great with a huge list of craft beers on tap and in the bottle/can. Large selection of gins. Menu looks like typical pub fare.
Bar inside old Canal buildings run by Castle Rock. Has an old boat inside with footbridge across to the bar. Great selection of beers and good food menu. Has a large function room upstairs that can be hired out. Lovely location by the canal with large outdoor seating area.
Went here for the first time today and loved it! The place itself was stylish and clean and lets be honest, where else can you find a boat in a bar, really cute! Staff were lovely and helpful and the food was amazing. Great vegan menu too which was basically just the cherry on top
Unique pub literally built over and around a canal mooring. Great outdoor space overlooing the canal as well. Good choice of reasonably priced beer and I had a red wine based lasagne which was lovely. Definitely worth a visit.
Looking for a nice beer, then the Canalhouse bar, might be the place for you, they have over 150 beers to select from, and quite a few of those on tap. It is a nice setting with an canal boat in the pub! Decent food on the menu or on the wall in fact. Prices and service are good!
