Playful children's museum offering hands-on exhibitions, costumes, artifacts, toys & games.
Best place to bring children, especially in free Thursdays or using the free library pass!
Oh man, this place is so fun for littles. I have taken every age from 2-8 and they always love it. Great way to spend an afternoon.
Kids had a blast , employees keeping the place clean non-stop, visitors very civilized. Awesome experience!
My boys (ages 3 and 20 monthsboth just adore going to the childrens museum. There is so much for them to touch/interact/play with. It helps teach them about other cultures while getting them to socialize with other children their own age. The price also gets you entrance to the history museum which is a nice bonus
Both my kids at age group 4 - 7 yrs loved this place. Lots of play areas and stuff to do. Ie, arts and craft, walk-in walk out small town , play boat to run up and down. the adults can read about Canadian history upstairs.
Since the reopening after the Covid closure, there are many items that have not been returned to the childrens museum making it feel less interactive and my child lost interest quickly. On the plus side, they did have a fun activity that they were drawn to and spent a considerable amount of time working on.
Amazing for little kids. For sure parents of 4-8 yrs old will have a good time here playing roles. My 12 years old “made sushi “ while in a Japan restaurant and my 9 yrs old made pizza in a pretend play of a Italian rest. I don’t think is worthy for older kids 10+ unless you visit the Canadian history museum. Then the bundle is good.
Great place to visit when in town. Kids had fun. The cafeteria has a great view of the parliament buildings.
Most of the exhibits are either completely broken, missing pieces, or non-functional in some other way. Hopefully they hire someone to fix things. Kids still had fun, but there was a lot of missed opportunities.
A wonderful trip for the whole family. Our kids spent around 3 hours here revisiting their favourite exhibits again and again. Unfortunately a bunch of items have been removed due to Covid such as costumes and items from other countries in their respected themed areas. However there are still costumes and props in the theatre section? Hopefully the rest of the exhibits return to normal soon as we did feel we were missing out on a lot of experiences with the missing items. Also one of the larger exhibits, a shipping boat, was broken so the kids could not access the mechanical game, it was taped off. Everything else was in good, clean condition. At around $60 for the whole family, I can see us returning in the future.
Nice place to spend a few hours with the kids. The kids museum isnt as big as I was expecting but my kids enjoyed the visit. Kids could play around with a lots of stuff,a mini grocery store, baking pizza and making sushi, it was fun!
We got a lot of fun there. The staffs are friendly and nice.A little bit smaller than I expected but still enough to spend 1 hour.
Amazing childrens area for learning and playing, my toddler had so much fun here! And the worldly theme made me feel like I was traveling too.
Highly recommend . Kids has such a great time ,collecting passports is such a fun and cool idea . The best part was that you get a 2-in-1 museum deal, and the Canadian history museum was hugely impressive with such an array of Indigenous art and artifacts. Also enjoyed the special exhibition of Canadian TV for children
Unfortunately the childrens section I on was sold out. The first nations exhibit was very well done. The spirit bear movie was excellent. I left with a greater appreciation of the West Coast First Nations.
Really enjoyable experience and decently priced. Lots of hands on things to do and can easily spend hours there.
My 3YO loved every last part of the museum. Space is limited so do buy tickets in advance. Bring snacks and drinks as theres limited food choices while there.
Staffs do nothing but chitchat while ignorant parents let their offspring ignore the group limit set in place. Terrible experience.
Been there once with a 3 year old and another time with a 5 year old, good experience for a variety of ages!
Kids loved it! So much excitement for kids of all ages and kids at heart 🙂 bought tickets in advanced so didnt have to wait at all. Very fun and kids didnt want to leave 🙂
Beautiful experience for children and adults !! Very interactive , hands on and learning experience !
Lots of fun for the kids
Went there with my two kids. You would think they would keep the place clean especially during covid but It was filthy especially in the kids sections. Stained chairs, clothes, walls and toys. Definitely not going back
Your young kids (3-10will enjoy their time snd discover lots of facts by visiting different countries. By the same ticket you can visit the history museum which is in the same building
Such a fun place for children! A must visit for all kids
The childrens museum is lovely. Educational and fun for young kids.Suffers a bit from the post-pandemic issue plaguing all museums, where some aspects are no longer interactive. Its also pretty expensive for the limited scope, and you wont have much incentive to go twice. That said, its worth a trip once, especially for younger children (6-8?)
amazing place to go for a family vacation i loved this place and would definitely go again. definitely recommend!
Hand sanitizer distributors were mostly empty.Signs at every room/activity to limit the number of people/groups, with no one respecting the guidelines. Employees standing around with arms crossed, doing nothing to enforce safety guidelines. The museum been closed for 2 years and the efforts put into reopening in a safe manner are a failure. I dont know how much taxpayer money was spent on this, but I feel as Canadians we were cheated.
We drove out of town and paid full price, yet the children’s museum was missing more than half of the interactive content. Very clear there should have been more to do but the items had been removed. This was not clear from the website. Came with a 5 year old and 1 year old, and this felt like a waste of time and money. Very lacklustre.
By far the worst experience ever. While my kid is playing with stuff, one of the employees grabs it from my kid to put away. Then another employee being completely rude to me and my daughter about not bringing the play food over to the cooking area but fails to mention it to others doing it. There is a way to talk to people and she was beyond rude.
Large building but exhibitions were set in different part of the building. There was also videos that could be watched at set time.
We went there today, on Canada day. It was free for general admission and was crowded 😝
We were excited to return to the Children’s Museum after a lengthy closure but, we should have waited longer as this was a money grab. No change to the cost of admission yet lots of things were closed off or removed, such as the interactive aspects like the costumes. I don’t understand the point of giving us a passport to stamp when the stamps weren’t even available. It was just mainly empty houses, all of the things IN the houses that make the experience fun for kids were gone. Not to mention the exterior is all under construction. There’s no water in the fountain, the main staircase is blocked so, you need to use this temporary wood one, and the sounds of the heavy equipment drowns out the quiet scene along the river. We left after an hour (even though we paid for 2 hoursand went to a FREE playground instead where my kids had way more fun. Yes, I checked the website before coming, and it said some things were not available which is false advertising in my opinion, the website should have said MOST things were unavailable. Considering that this is one of the most expensive museums to visit in the Ottawa area, the entry fee is highway robbery in its current condition.
Canadian Children’s Museum is a fun exploration for young ones! Located at the Canadian Museum of History, I recall parts of this collection such as the cargo crane being part of the main museum when I was a kid. These are timeless exhibits.Fast forward to now, the Children’s Museum includes multicultural interactive stations as part of the Great Adventure passport. Highlights included an arts & crafts room, a children’s café, a kid-sized pyramid, a decorated bus, and of course the cargo ship. Plenty of fun for young ones for several hours. Our pre-booked timeslot tickets into the Children’s Museum included admission into the Canadian Museum of History as well. It’s a good way for young ones to have their fill, then accompany their adults into the main exhibits too.
It’s like a giant indoor playground! Was kinda fun tho lol
This place was a big hit with my 5 year old and 18 month old. Lots of activities and sections to explore. Fun for the kids and fun for adults too.
The family loved the childrens museum as we traveled through all of the different history each culture has to offer
Wonderful! So worth the trip! A lot to do that stimulates childrens learning and energy!
One of the bests (if not the bestive ever been to. Hours of fun. I highly recommend it with more than 5 stars
Plenty to see and learn , some of the exhibits are just marvellous. Easily Need half a day to see all
My little kid spent a great time there making me very tired running after him:-)It is very nice place.
Brilliant. Full of hands on activities for kids while they explore around the world. Really well thought out. Kids even get their own passport to stamp in different lands and travel activities.
Best place for kids ever! So many levels to suit all ages including Adults. I love this place.
If you have young kids, the Childrens Museum is fantastic. Theres so much variety of shapes, colours, and activities all built into the series of buildings and structures representing many different countries and regions. The buildings are kid-sized, so watch your head if you are over 6 tall. We tried taking them into the rest of the Museum of History, but that lasted maybe 15 minutes before they wanted to go back to the Childrens Museum.
Awesome place to lose several hours with your kids in. Our three year old loved it. I still dont know how we actually managed to pry him away to leave. There are so many interactive stations we couldnt keep up with him!
Very large interactive museum located inside the Museum of Canadian History and included in the price of admission to the latter. There is a range of activities including a working theatre for the kids to explore being on stage, costumes and working sound and light. Kids can control a working crane, pretend to drive a bus, tuk tuk, motorcycle, shipping boat, camel... The landscapes are colourful and miniaturized so that children can feel like adults. Theres a room with giant foam blocks to build whatever they can imagine. Theres an arts and crafts room. My kids enjoyed it immensely and is totally worth the price of entry.
Beautiful museum with lots to see for everyone of all ages! Also beautiful view of Parliament from the lovely grounds.
Good interactive museum.many things to see around the world..price lets in both museums.
Great place to take your kids so they can explore, learn, play and run around too. We had a good time and it was fun to learn facts about different countries. If you visit with little kids, always check on them as they can easily get lost. We went on a Monday and stayed 2 hours , not busy and loud, just a few kids running around .
Awesome place for kids. My daughter loved this place!! We stopped for only few hours on our trip to Ottawa but that wasnt enough time to spend at this place. So much to do inside for the kids. Staff is just amazing and very friendly with kids. Clean washrooms for changing kids also! Overall this place deserves all the stars.
