Camping Municipal Metz - in Metz, France
Camping Municipal Metz in Metz
Description
A perfect spot for seeing Metz. Literally a 5 minute walk away. The setting is very pretty on the river. Metz is full of history, beautiful buildings and beautiful people ❤️. The facilities are good including picnic benches on the river and clothes dryers if you manage to get a sunny day 😀.
MoreGreat location to visit city center of Metz. Green grass sites, with trees. Directly at the river Moesel. Small restaurant with fresh bread in the morning.Sanitair is okay but not very clean.
MoreBusy site. Central to town. Toilet block fairly basic
Loved it
Great stop over camping on the route to the South or back home. Also a very nice camping as a base to discover the beautiful city. Friendly personel, clean facilities, good price. One thing to keep in mind: paying is supposed to be done on the morning of departure, but its a slooow process... Prepare to stand in line and... relax😊. After all, youre on vacation 😉
MorePretty fine camping. Checking is kindoff wierd because you need to have an ID card to check inn. When you are on the camping it is pretty fin. Not really having the fealing that you are pretty much in the center of Metz.
MoreThe staff was super friendly and provided you with all the information required. The location of the camping is unique for a large city as its only a 5 minute walk to the city! However the showers and toilets were below any reasonable standard. Cleaning occurred but on the floor you could find the same hairs and human litter. Probably one of the worst bathroom experience while travelling
MoreI wouldnt give a star. The boss is arrogant and when asked if its possible to take a shower for money, the answer was"no, thats not possible! We want you to stay the night."it would be possible and i offered money! I find it very disrespectful to deny someone water and a shower. it gives the impression that its all about power play
MoreLovely setting bang in the town centre, great facilities and friendly, helpful staff!
MoreLovely campsite next to the river and only minutes away from the town which has to be visited. The cathedral is nagnificent. Lots of activities going on while we where there. Could do with more toilets and showers for the amount of pitches but they were always clean. Nice little restaurant on site had supper and breakfast basic but very nice.stayed 3nights.
MoreVery nice place, directly at the river, 200m to the city center. The campingplace is very clean, save and a gate smal restaurant / Shop. All people so friendly.. I like it.
MoreClosed till the 1st of May
We used the campervan parking. Simple and nearby the city center.
Dear community of Metz, thank you citizens. This is and was a nice and good break just next to highway. Just made our travel 2 days longer.I do not know what other reviewers where expecting. Ok shower could have been a bit hotter. The way of in and out , can be more smoothen by electronics.Butt the main thing is... Good camp ground .. in close neighborhood of the centre.Ounce again big applause for the community. Of Metz to leave this spot free for tourist.
MoreVery nice campground. Large lots with nice view on the river. Good lavatories and warm showers. 10 AMP and water per site.Historic city Centre is an easy walk from the campground. If you drag a caravan, study the City map. It is well sign posted but gps alone will not get you there easily. The large number of dogs at the neighbor’s yard bark till midnight so pick a lot closer to the reception, and the river of course.
MoreA wonderful campsite in the very heart of the city center. The center and the historical part of the town are just a walk away. While this might seem like the best feature of the camping site, it certainly isnt. Because the best feature is definitely the incredible staff. Just extremely supportive.
MoreThe pitches are nice and large all with electric if you have a motorhome. Water is available but you need a watering can as cannot connect a hose. Toilets were OK but could have been cleaner. The location is great a short and nice walk into town. We did not use the restaurant or showers. Most people are using this site as a 1 night stop over. Unfortunately the check in and check out was the worst and most complicated we have ever experienced in many years of camping. It took too long when arriving and leaving, allot needs to be improved here. We do not understand why it is so difficult, yes allot of people arrive and leave but this happens at many campsites everywhere. This coupled with miserable staff makes you feel a little unwelcome. We feel sad writing a bad review as this campsite really has allot if potential in terms of location and facilities.
MoreDelightful. Right on the river. The staff are excellent, so helpful and accommodating. The site is virtually in the town. We had a lovely walk around this ancient city.
MoreGreat campsite close to beutiful Metz. Have to queue to get in and register which can take some time
MoreNice site for short stays. Very well run and maintained. Great location.
Just left this super camp site after another super stay. Highly recommend booking by email, used Google Translate to help with the French and got a quick answer and a super plot. It gets busy even in Sept. Lovely pitches, close to the beautiful river, with wonderful walks nearby. Miles of great dog walking or just into the town, crossing its many bridges, views everywhere, endless restaurants and lots of modern shopping. Yes the facilities are a little minimalist, but needs are covered for really good value prices, and we left relaxed and very happy.
MoreWe tried to get in to the campsite but it was fully booked. It looked well cared for by we had to spend the night in the carpark next door. Felt unsafe as teenagers on motorbikes kept coming by to investigate. We had a German Shepherd with us and when they saw her they disappeared. We old have felt safer in the campsite nextdoor as it was guarded. The site opens after midday, we just got thee too late.Good location for walking to the town which was v close.
MoreFirst and foremost, a big thank you to the evening receptionist who called the ambulance for me! Metz is a place Ive been wanting to visit, the location of the campsite is perfect for visiting the city, and despite the tent area not being level (thats why only 4stars), checking in was easy (we didnt bookand the receptionists were very friendly and helpful. We only stayed briefly in the campsite to set up our tent, afterwards we walked into town for dinner, and upon returning my pollen allergy hit and I fell unconscious. Both my husband and I dont speak any french, so it was lucky that the young gentleman at the reception call the ambulance as soon as he noticed what happend! Ended up they didnt charge us anything, even though our tent and car were in the campsite for some 7hrs.
MoreWe arrived at this campsite and the lady was very very rude as soon as she saw my British pass port. She told me that there was no place for me and my wife but it was ok for the Dutch man and his wife behind me do not go here ever as they are all racist against the British I blame the brexit
MoreThis is a good cheap but well run, and clean municipal campsite, close too the center (walking distance).Lot of turnover, one night stopover camper vans but loads of space...would go again.Good team running the site.
MoreRefused entry after cycling 100km, furious as I only needed a space for a tent, anywhere is adequate for that...Usually if a person has cycled you would have some sympathy and find room as that is what every other campsite has done throughout my time cycle touring. I could see a few spots that would have suited me perfectly from the reception. The guy didnt even apologise and said it was a matter of security, absolute joke of a place! It appears to happen often as they had a tiny piece of paper with the next campsites address on it. Its a shame there is nowhere else nearby, be expected to drive/ cycle 15km south due to this place. Judging by other reviews this has happened to a lot of cycle tourists and hikers, so maybe they have a problem with us sweaty folk ;I booked a hotel in the end as the suggestion to cycle to another rubbish reviewed campsite 15km away was stupid, if it happens often then you would think they would have some better suggestions, even a hostel or a cheap hotel.
MoreA real city camp. Just like all city camps. A well organized chaos. The sanitary was clean(looked brand newthe camping also. Its 5 min walk to the hart of the city. Next to a swimmingpool(piscine municipalNice reception and staff. English spoken.
MoreVery unkempt, pitches are not level you will need massive levellers. Dont forget to take your own loo seat. But it is handy for visiting the town centre.
MoreDisappointed with our pitch but the reception wouldnt change it even though there were plenty of other pitches. Came here years ago and it was lovely. Disappointed with it this time. Needs some attention paid to it.
MoreCar park well within walking distance of city centre. Pictures of metz cathedral.
MoreGood camping, great location, weird entry ritual (they might ask for passports, licenceplate registration, colour of the car etc etc, takes a while.)Popular with campers so a reservation or calling is advised. Plenty of space for tents with views out over the river.
MoreGood campsite within walking distance of city centre. Would like to choose own pitch rather than be allocated. Reasonably priced.
More5 stars due to the value-for-money and location to Metz centre. This is a review from my stay in mid-September, so there was no queuing upon arrival and there were plenty of spacious riverside emplacements for my small tent (although nowhere for me to put my hammock which I normally sleep in). Friendly check-in from the ladies at the barrier. I can see why the queuing system may be an issue in peak season though. So if youre traveling during this time, probably arrive early! The riverside plots are for tents and the emplacements behind are for motorhomes and caravans. Large trees line the central area and there are a few small trees and willow trees providing a little shade for the tents (depending on which emplacement you have). There are picnic tables and table tennis tables under canopies, and also clothes drying racks.I stayed on emplacement 132 in the photo.
MoreCity campsite along a side river arm of the Moessel. Center on walking distance. Toilets and showers basic and not very clean.
MoreWhat a brilliant Campsite right beside the Moselle River and in the historic city and so cheap. Our tent opened right onto the river watching the sun set
MoreThis rating is keeping in mind this is a Camping Municipal. Clean. Large spots. Quiet. Excellent facilities, like waste bins on every corner, which are emptied every day, several rotary clotheslines and picnic/barbeque places. Good camper service spot.Dont order bread. It is of poor quality, like it is yesterdays bread. The bar/restaurant is awful. No atmosphere at all.You have to accept the excess bureaucracy: They only open the gate after to signed in, we paid for our spot on the way out and when we drove out immediately afterward a guy checks everything once more.
MoreWe were on a tour with 5 cyclists and 2 tents.+ friendly staff+ space directly at the river- no toilet paper- dog pile near campsite- no toilet seatsSince the costs were quite cheap its okay.
MoreVery officious and unfriendly attitude from woman at the gate. No welcome but demanded two passports and pointed to tent area declaring ‘ no electricity.’ Rude attitude. Turned round and drove off !
MoreLovely municipal camp site, 10 minute walk into Metz.
Bit difficult site to get into, but once in you are right on the river. Only 5 minutes walk into town clean showers toilets etc power water on tour pitch.
MoreA decent campsite with okay facilities and a short walk to town however poor gate system where a man has to open the gate and takes 20 mins to do so
MoreIt is difficult to book in advance of your stay. But once having achieved this we were welcomed and given a choice of pitches on our arrival. The facilities have been upgraded from last year and are very acceptable. The restaurant menu is very basic. But perhaps that is how people like it as many only stayed for one night. The city and surrounding areas are easily accessible and are well worth a visit. The views across the river make up for any of the deficiencies mentioned.
MoreWe were surprised to find such a great location at the river bank close to the city center. It is perfect for visiting the city of Metz.Plenty of kayaking groups were present. The sanitary facilities were clean. One 🌟 less since the ordered baguettes for breakfast never showed up.
MoreThe campsite was quite nice and the bathrooms where great. However the staff barely spoke English.
MoreOne of the better Municipal Camping Grounds with excellent facilities and just 10 minutes walk to the centre of Metz, one of the truely outstanding cities in France.
MoreNothing special, a campsite with a lot of space for camper vans and caravans. An expanse of green available for tents but no specific pitches. Facilities are adequate and generally clean. A good place for an overnight stop but not somewhere to plan a holiday to.
MoreThis is ok for a one night stay. The facilities are a bit tired but mostly clean. There is a queue to get in and out because of an antiquated booking in and out system. The location is perfect for exploring the city.
MoreGood location next to the river and for walk into City but run down facilities, lots of building work going on. Staff unhelpful, gets crowded and many pitches are uneven and some impossible to level in a Motorhome.
MoreBeautifully situated along the river, very friendly staff en the camping lays into the beautiful city of Metz. I read other reviews about the sanitary and when I was there there was a new toilet building, which I found good. Its situating in the middle of the camping and that makes it a little walk when youre tent is at the beginning.
MoreBusy but well laid out site.Showers surprisingly good and clean. This is a really busy stop off site and so handy for the motorway
