Had an amazing evening of wine and cheese tasting at the 50/60 Lounge in Cambridge, Mark is a very experienced and knowledgeable taster and I have learnt so much not only about wine and food pairings, but also about how these are influenced by the vinification process and geographical origin of the grapes. All the information was delivered in a precise and technical language while also keeping a down-to-earth tone that never made a minute of the class feel boring! I highly recommend Cambridgeshire Wine School to everyone interested in understanding more what goes behind an excellent cheese and wine pairing.

A very relaxing, entertaining and educational day which I thoroughly enjoyed. Mark has a warm, thoroughly engaging manner who gently guides you through the nuances of the various wines but without any air of pretension! A lovely day. We’ll be back.

I thoroughly enjoyed the course, Mark who conducted it is extremely knowledgeable, but makes what seems to be quite a deep subject very easy to understand and a lot of fun with his easygoing nature and humour, he has given me a better understanding of the wine I drink and the work and expertise that goes into making it.I would most definitely take part in another ,course conducted by Mark, without any hesitation.A brilliant and fun day, highly recommended.

What a brilliant day!Mark was a very welcoming host. The location was great and all the pre course material was ideal in terms of accuracy and content. The day itself was set in one of the dining rooms of Gonville & Caius College with the other College buildings as the charming and fascinating backdrop. The location itself added drama to the day and set the scene for the learning we were about to undertake.Mark walked us through a comprehensive but easy to understand assessment of wines in a non-pretentious way. We sampled a good number of wines and got to learn about all the things that can influence colour, nose, taste and price of wine. We also sampled the wine with other foods to see how their taste is affected by what you eat with what you drink. The lunch at the venue was good and it was great to meet other people who were interested in learning a little more about wine. I’m not sure quite yet I’d be confident to pick wine to go with a dish based on the front of the label (although most contain that on the back these daysbut it was a fun day out, a great experience and good value.Well done Mark for making it informative and educational as well as good fun. Will be along for another of your courses I’ve no doubt.Thank you

My daughter and I had gift vouchers which wed received before Covid so this was long overdue! We had a fantastic time! Lots of wines to try and we learned a lot. Also a really great 2 course lunch. Mark was a great host. My only minor gripes were that we had to pay an additional fee because the cost of the venue had increased and we had to sit on a separate table right at the back because it was over booked. Otherwise, a fantastic experience and one that Id do again.

I have learnt so much, both formally and informally through the excellent CWS sessions. Through lockdown, the on-line evening sessions kept me sane and now Ive had even more fun attending a day tasting session (Taste of Italy). Mark has an engaging teaching style and the wines we tasted were delicious and plentiful. Im very pleased to have been persuaded to join in and even do my WSET2 qualification.

Mark ran a brilliant wine-tasting event for 60 people, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. The evening was entertaining and informative, and was very well pitched for the audience. He was very helpful and communicative in the run up to the event, and helped ensure it all ran smoothly on the night. Thank you for delivering a fantastic wine tasting.

Ive just completed the 8 weeks world of wine course and would highly recommend to anyone interested in learning more about the wine they drink. Each week provided something different and you finish far more confident and knowledgeable. For myself it gave me a much better appreciation of the different types of wines and not just going for what I always used to go for. Mark runs each session in a fun and engaging way, and from this Im now looking to sign onto the level 2 course.

We primarily participate in the online tastings but have also attended an in person tasting. We have learned so much about the wines, wine making process and importance of the environment and our favourite, food pairing! Not only do you purchase the bottles of wine at a discount, but Mark also sends recipes and recommended snacks to try with the wines of the evening. We have tried some amazing new recipes that have now become repeat meals in our home. The courses are so educational and fun, we have been able to meet people from all over the world from the comfort of our living room. Cannot recommend these courses enough!

We have been attending online wine courses since the first lockdown. You have the wines delivered and Mark sends food suggestions. Get on a zoom call and learn about how the climate and geography as well as how the wine makers decisions affect the wine. Sometimes, the winemaker is on the call to give their perspective. Its a great way to try new wines and learn about wine pairing and how its made.Mark is very knowledgeable and keeps the atmosphere light. You also get to meet people from all over the world.

Ive really enjoyed the online wine tastings that Mark has run to date. These include Meet the Winemaker sessions, and sessions focusing on a particular region. Wine is pre-ordered (often at a discountfor tasting during the session. Using Google Earth to visit the winery, Mark provides a fun and informative insight into each wine. There is plenty of opportunity to discuss the wines and ask questions. Definitely 5 star.

My husband and I really enjoyed our evening wine tasting with Mark. It was different to other wine tastings wed done as Mark made the evening into a "guess the wine" competition among the groups, which was good fun and we also learned a lot. We enjoyed the wines and Mark is very knowledgeable. Would recommend to others.Thank you!

So my wife booked this for my Christmas present and we went to Christs College yesterday and had a thoroughly good time. Mark was extremely knowledgeable and we very much enjoyed the champagne on 11am arrival, 6 whites, lunch, tour of the college, then 5 reds and a dessert wine to finish around 4pm. Learned a lot about not only wine, regions, brewing processes, but also how certain foods can complement certain wines. Highly recommended.

Absolutely wonderful! Did four weeks of old world tasting and it was a very engaging, enjoyable and informative experience. Mark is a fantastic host and teacher, and the course dealt with all aspects of the geography, creation and taste of the wines in the countries we covered. Its completely changed the way my girlfriend and I approach wine and weve had fun practising the techniques we learned with each bottle since then. Thanks very much!

A splendid evening with a very engaging teacher. It was a small group, but with quite a range of ages and backgrounds. Mark taught us a lot in a short time, and I will definitely be booking to go back again. I already knew quite a bit about wine, but Im not great at saying meaningful things when I taste it. Im looking forward to learning more about tasting when I attend another class.

A great way to learn more about the wines of Italy ready for our holiday. Mark is knowledgeable and able to pass on that knowledge in a fun and relaxed way; I now know a lot more about where the different wines are produced, how this affects them and why they react differently with flavours and foods enabling me to make good choices. The venue was good, lunch excellent and Mark’s tour of the college a welcome surprise.

Add this to your things you must do while in Cambridge! My girlfriend signed us up and I really enjoyed it!Wine school was fantastic. Mark is very knowledgeable and I felt he did a great job sharing his knowledge. I drink wine occasionally but Im no expert. He broke things down to where I could understand and retain. You get a worksheet to follow along with a presentation. The presentation is very informative and engaging. He encourages everyone to participate and doesnt let one person dominate the discussion. He also answered lots of questions and even stayed afterwards to answer additional questions.I only went to one class (only in town for a few daysbut I feel I have the beginnings of a solid foundation in regards to wine knowledge. I definitely feel more comfortable and confident in my ordering of wine and sending it back if it is "bad" (something I learned in the class). We tasted six wines and after the class was over, we were able to enjoy some of the remaining wine. There is also cheese, meat and crackers to go with the wine. I wish I had more time to attend additional sessions. I am now looking for other opportunities to continue to develop my palette.

The four week course France vs. New World was great fun and I learnt A LOT thanks to Mark! Being French, people expect me to know a lot about wine but apart from loving drinking it, I must say I didnt have much knowledge. :Mark is passionate about wine and his approach really helped us to better know how to taste, appreciate, and choose wine! And we were lucky to be with the same people for the full four week course which made it even more fun! Thanks Mark and thank everyone for these four weeks of fun! :)

The Cambridgeshire Wine School was a brilliant day out. Marks knowledge of wine was comprehensive and the workshop itself was both interactive and a lot of fun. At the start of the day my knowledge was limited, by the end I was able to confidently describe a wines characteristics based on region and process, among other things. Whether a beginner or advanced, I highly recommend!

We went to the Intro to Wine Tasting class at the Cambridge Brew House. Mark started the evening by teaching us a bit about the different wine regions of the world, and then swiftly moved on to showing us how to go about investigating a wine in terms of appearance, nose and palate. Some nibbles were included, allowing us to pair up cheese and delicious pepper steak with the wines. The evening was great fun, and Mark is an excellent host - clearly very enthusiastic about his subject matter (!), but also very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend Marks classes to anybody who wants to learn the basics about wine, or who already has some knowledge but would like to expand their horizons. I will definitely be back to experience some more of the world of wine!
