Interactive exhibitions, workshops and shows celebrating science and technology, plus a toyshop.
Went to the pop-up in the Grand Arcade today. A great selection of hands-on learning scenarios. 5.5 year old son was engrossed in building DNA, piecing together organs in human torso model and other really cool stuff. Staff were friendly and informative. Superb educational resource.
Very good for children and some of the adults learned a thing or two
Says its open on Google maps but actually its closed over the summer. I had checked the website and Google maps before coming but ended up coming to find it closed as information really not clear.
Says open on Google maps but closed. No way to access. No one answering the phone
Children loved their visit to the Cambridge Science Centre. A small place so they didnt find it overwhelming or tiring. It contained lots of science discoveries that allowed children to try out for themselves. Helpful information boards and guided activities too.
My boys loved the centre.
Lovely small site with about 5 free car parking spaces outside. If you do not get one of the free spaces there is pay and display metres on the surrounding roads. We went bowling beforehand and parked at the multi-storey. Parking there is discounted if your card is validated at one of those venues. We then took a short work to the Science Museum. We went with our children both ages under 10 and they both enjoyed it. We spent around 4 hours on there which was enough to fully enjoy all activities on site. The staff were friendly and passionate and they do interactive talks every few hours on interesting subjects - all the children enjoyed and were very engaged. The only thing that would have been great is if they sold soft and hot drinks and perhaps some snacks 👌
Brilliant morning spent learning and playing for kids and adults alike. The owl pellet dissection activity was superb. Highly recommended.
Great place to spend a few hours with kids. I thought it would take an hour or so but my kids didnt want to leave and we stayed well over 3 hours. We went with a 7 and an 11 year old and there was plenty to keep them both occupied. The staff were amazing, very knowledgeable and helpful.
Brilliant place to spend an hour or two with kids- great interactive exhibits and some presentations from the staff. Our 2.5yo loves it and can see he will evolve with it for years to come.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great demonstration/lesson on how astronauts are sent into space and safely returned to Earth. The wind tunnel was great fun and a good challenge too. Our 6 yo learnt alot. Very affordable, £9 for the day ( you can go out and come back for a family of 3.
This is a fun place to visit time and again as the staff are great and the presentations are always varied and interesting.
Very expensive for what they offer, simple dog info, children rewarded with loads of sweets, some gadgets to play around and experiment, smell test all done in about 1 hour....not worth it in my opinion, but our 4,6,8years childrens seems reasonably entertained
A great morning learning about plants with the kids.
Knowledgeable childrens lecturers. And activities for just a small fee are worth while. We played with DNA patterns and extracted the DNA of a strawberry! The space itself is just a warehouse and the permanent exhibitions are slim.
We came for the rocket session, which had a nice balance of activities and demonstrates, at the end you had 20 mins to look at the displays.
We had a great time at Cambridge Science Today. It was all about Dinosaurs and fossils. My five year old son enjoyed making fossils and talking to the friendly staff.
Fantastic place for kids. It closes at 5, not 5:30
Good mix of interactive exhibits. Fun with making seeds and launching them in the wind tunnel. A good place to spend a few hours!
The staff are very friendly and the center is good but a little bit small (I am comparing to the one in Glasgow). They have around 4 workshops for the kids every day with nice activities
Friendly and knowledgeable staff, interesting exhibits, looks small, but my kids can easily spend a whole day here!
The center is quite small moreover lovely people and great science facilities. We loved the paper snake making class as well.
Lots of interaction exibits and it didnt feel dumbed down - so the adults learned a bit as well as the children. The staff were conspicuously friendly, helpful and enthusiastic.
We went as part of a home education group and found a fantastic warm welcome. The displays are incredibly interactive and catching for children and parents alike. The curators are very approachable and knowledgeable scientists in their own right. Plus the demo and talk captivated the kids for the best part of an hour which is no mean feat. Incredible museum
Came here with a 10 year old and felt that it was mostly targeted at 4 to 7 year olds... I wouldn’t recommend for children above that age. There may be 1-2 exhibits of interest beyond that age but that’s not really worth a trip here.
Possibly because our children love the wonderlab at the science museum, this was a depressing and underwhelming experience. Despite it being overstaffed, we were completely ignored (being offered a sticker as we exited doesnt count). More focus on research from the university/PhDs would have made more sense. Really only for kids who have little exposure to science.
Smaller than you think its going to be and quite a walk out of town, but full of interactive displays for kids of varying ages.My 5 year old found loads of things to do, however my 2 year old was less enthused. The talks and demonstrations were really informative and showed the passion of the staff that worked there.
Small little place packed full of interactive things for the children. We spent about 90 minutes here. We watched a fantastic presentation about recycling. Reasonable price too.
Nice range of activities, interesting presentations and demos, enough to keep kids occupied for an hour or so; great place for childrens parties
Dont be fooled by the size. We went and were there for a few hours reading and trying to make different things and we all came out with DNA bracelets that we made. We made lots of spinners that floated up to ceiling ad was fun. Was also relaxed. Would defiantly return and combine with other things to do in Cambridge.
Fantastic place for youngsters. Its rather small, but packs in an awful lot. The regular talks are great too as the staff are super dedicated and make them very interesting.I think its best to go early, and come back a few times during the day for the talks. Spend the rest of of the time around Cambridge.Limited parking so be prepared for a walk if no spots close by.
Small but engaging selection of science exhibits suitable for primary age children. Very interactive. Staff were lovely.
A fabulous way to spend a mornung with young kids. We learnt about how the body deals with food with thr interactive lecture Gums to BumsThe kids loved it
Informative and fun. Displays are quite wordy and demonstrations are quite lengthy, so would recommend for 6 upwards. Also worth checking if they have a party planned because it otherwise gets very busy very quickly!
Smaller than expected but a lovely little place to go with the kids. My children were 4 and 19 months. There was lots to keep the interest of my 4 year including some lovely talks by the staff. My 19month however was difficult to keep entertained after about 30mins had had enough. Vending machines are there for food and drinks but they were fine with you bringing a picnic. Its close to the train station . Only a 10min walk which made it a nice trip out with a train journey to.
Fun outing for the kids. Spent about 1.5hours there but by then had explored everything. Presentation was good whilst we were there. Definitely worth a visit.
Interesting place to bring kids, (say from 4 years upwardsgood range of hands on activities. Minimal parking; 10 to 15 minute walk from Cambridge station. Has snack and coffee machines.
Kids had a great time engaging with science. I personally didnt think it was great value for money given the size. I was expecting something significantly larger. Bit of a walk from the city centre. Nevertheless Id recommend it.
By all means worthwhile to visit. Its interactive, catchy and most of the stands fully operational. Children are looking forward to peppa the pig in nomax suit :-Keep going!
The science centre is small but it was perfect for a trip to Cambridge with my 3 year old! He had so much fun! We were pleasantly surprised there was a small car park as well.
Such a very nice museum it is very small but very well laid out and the kids had a great time especially in the secret room which was a really nice touch and location was good as well and very easy to find . Big thanks to all the hard working staff that go that extra mile to really give you a great experience also the staff were absoloutly great with the kids I look forward to coming back another time next year no doubt
Nice little place for kids to learn about different elements of science. The talks were interesting too. It is quite out of the way if you are walking though.
An even balance of not too much and not too little. But Im sure over time if it could be added to here would be a return footfall through the door. Have to mention as well the toilets were immaculate.
Small area but lots of hands on science activities. Recommended for ages 5 to 18 but parents may also enjoy it.
Doesnt look like much from the outside but the curious kids will have plenty to occupy them for a few hours. There are even group talks for them to attend giving the adults a little bit of playtime! Only one or two exhibits werent working. Unfortunately, Id say this is a one-hit-wonder place. We most likely wont go back.
Small but excellent place with lots of activities for children. Kids can be entertained from about 3 until 14 or older ( depending on interest). Cheap entry fee which is valid for the whole day, you can come and go as you feel.
Excellent way for kids to explore science in all its forms. Best bit is definitely the live interactive demonstrations that occur about every half hour that vary between "built it" classes to hands on demonstrations how the intestines make poo. The volunteers genuinely love their work and make science real and fun.Fantastic that all the demo stations are well maintained and work all the time (Ive been elsewhere and seen science demos with 90% broken sets - Im looking at you Valencia city of science and artswhich gives it a really top of the class professional feel.My 4 year old loved it so it isnt just for older kids.
A number of interactive stations each explain a scientific topic that helps understanding our world. Ideas are presented clearly, and activities are very cleverly designed. Good for kids and accompanying adults alike.
My son is really enjoying his visit. Right now he is listening to a presentation about recycling. A great place for inquisitive children.
A great place to spend a few hours. Interesting science exhibits, engaging staff and a bargain price (£12 for a family of 5). 2/3rds of what 4 hrs parking cost!!! Cambs council has a lot to learn about value. We will be back in July when the focus switches to Biology.
