One of the last good old fashioned Whinney banks boozers. People in there are typically working class, good solid people who like a few pints and a bit of carry on every now and then. Staff are friendly, serves a good pint and if you fancy anything else you can usually be looked after. Nothing fancy but clean and welcoming with decent food. Irene the barmaid is a legend

I only give it one star because there isnt a non star choice, the male serving was rude, he really seems to think hes funny, ive never been so uncomfortable to the point i had to leave,

I stayed here years ago but thought it worth reviewing. There is no TV, which is odd and not very well publicised on their site. The wine with dinner was also sour and the couple who ran the place were not all that gracious about dealing with my perfectly legitimate complaints.

The Cambridge is a great example of old-world hospitality. The proprietress is a lovely woman, kind and helpful and personable. She found a hair dryer for me and even raided her own kitchen to bring us some yogurt at breakfast. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the heated towel racks in the bathroom were a convenience we had not experienced before. All in all, we enjoyed our stay very much!
