We visited in authentic Wartime conditions! Across the road, the burning of huge piles of leaves, tree branches, and trash began, sending clouds of thick toxic smoke straight into the museum. When i choked out a comment, how offensive this is... Got the usual khmer response: Laugh at the barang! We left as quickly as possible.

Charming and touched your soul. Great way to get versed on basic Khmer history and learn more about the atrocities that happened almost 50 years agoThis is a self-built museum so dont expect cuestión or museógrafo by - just facts, mines and pictures- and thats more than enough to get the message through, trust me

This is a sombre reminder of what humans do to other humans. The sheer amount of mines and explosive devices here is incredible. When you think of the number of devices deployed it is minuscule. The story of the founder is also amazing and what he did to help the maimed is heart moving. Not a big flashy museum but one that moves you.

The museum is mostly self-explanatory with posted information. The help of a volunteer tour guide about different kinds of mines makes a huge difference in understanding the different destructive powers of those mines. Make sure to check out the minefield.

Harrowing but very informative. Definitely visit this museum if you have time. It is on the way to the Kulen mountains and the Banteay Srey temple. Staffed by a volunteer who was a landmine victim himself and lived at the museum as a child while he was put through school. Such an important part of history that must not be forgotten. Your ticket price goes to support the ongoing removal of landmines around Cambodia.

Well worth a visit if you’re going out to see the Angkor temples. Small but intense museum documenting some of Cambodia’s recent past. Makes you appreciate the bravery and resilience of Cambodians and other people in countries dealing with the aftereffects of war. There are even QR codes you can scan with your phone to provide a free audio guide and free WiFi is available.

Very confronting, so interesting. This little museum was created by a man who when he was 10 years old was recruited by the Khmer Rouges as a child soldier, in 1975. 4 years later he passed to the Vietnamese army, then considered as those who came to free Cambodia. He was taught to put landmines. When the peace was back, he dedicated himself to clear the landmines, and to help and shelter children who were landmine injured. This small museum shows the actual life in a country which was at war not that long ago, a war they didnt ask for, a war where all the children were enrolled as soldiers, and who today learned to live in peace together, although they remember well having been in opposing camps, fighting with guns.Visiting the museum made me silent and thankful for having known but peace.

Necessary stop to understand Cambodia, and the use of mines globally. The display of war explosive weapons is impressive, made in multiple countries, including the US, Germany, Vietnam, China. Dont hesitate to make a donation to support the removing of landmines. In 2019 in Cambodia, there are style 120 victims of mines yearly!

An amazing and horrifying collection of ordinance, most of it collected by hand by a former child soldier. Lots of information about the different bomb types, from mines to cluster munitions. Hok (not sure I spelled rightsurvived a mine and gave us a powerful tour. There are lots of informative panels about the history of demining, as well as international treaties, and which countries have signed, which have not, and where mines are still be produced and used.

Cost 5$USD. Important and informative place to visit to learn a little bit about more about recent Cambodian history. Volunteer ticket seller/guide provides some information while walking you around the museum and his own tragic experience with land mines for a small donation. There is an audio guide also available for an additional cost.

Great place for educating yourself on the dangers and effects of landmines in this beautiful country. Entrance is only $5. You get a free audio guide which can be either in English or Japanese. To get the audio guide you must give in ID which they will return upon receiving the audio guide back. Its quite sad to learn what you do but I feel it is necessary. The money for the museum goes to paying staff a good wage and also paying for the children that live at the museum. It looks after at risk children and gives them food and education. What a wonderful NGO. The story of the owner is sad but a vital reminder of the humanity found during war.

This is the most depressing must see museum I have ever been to. The exhibits carefully detail the widespread use of landmines in Cambodia and other areas of SE Asia. It chronicles the widespread devastation during the USA led war in SE Asia and the terrible killing and life altering effects of the mines to this day. The sobering story is timely today and we are reminded of the decades of horrible impact that war has on innocent children and families. Technology exists to remove miles of mines but resources are not yet allocated.

We spent a really interesting and moving morning at the landmine museum, learning about the amazing work of Aki Ra and his team helping to clear Cambodia of landmines, and also the support they give to at-risk children in their Relief Center at the museum. Would definitely recommend a visit - you will come away with a richer understanding of Cambodias history and the efforts to move the country forward. A wonderful place - definitely worth it!

This is one of the best museums I have ever been to. As good as the war museum in ho chi Minh. Not just is it a museum but the money raised here goes to clearing more landmines and helping children affected by this. The museum also has a school. And orphanage on the property for some of these children taken from dangerous and poor areas in Cambodia. Do BE WARNED, I got a grab tuk tuk here and it is quite remote, we had no transport back and were stuck here. We walked for 40mins before a local helped us with a ride. Ensure you have transportation to bring you to your destination after you visit. ALSO the museum does appreciate donations, see my picture for an example of what would help them and the children here (i.e. Soap, toothbrush, sandals, balls, pencils etc..)

We went to this museum on the way back to central Siem Reap. The museum is laid out properly and shows the atrocities committed by the Khmer Rouge. They show the different types of land mines that were used. Entry is not expensive and goes to helping run the place and I believe donation to nonprofits trying to de-mine Cambodia.

Small but amazing museum with a lot of disarmed mines and weaponry, a lot of information about Cambodia’s history and also many stories of people that lived through the war and/ or of people that are growing up in the aftermath of it. Very knowledgeable staff! When driving out all the way from Siem Reap, you might want to plan to do a couple of temples in the area as well, saves you the long trip out there.

Well worth a visit. A small museum, but so important in understanding the recent history of Cambodia. The museum began from a personal effort to remove land mines. It’s also a very courageous story about being born during times of civil war, being a child solider, fighting, defecting, and finally using ones soldiering skills to demine Cambodia. It’s a depressing, yet hopeful story.

It’s worth a visit as you complete all of your temple tours. Real life stories of disarming mines and the people who have helped and been harmed from the thousands of mines in Cambodia. It also shows you these mines and the difficult process it is to disarm them and the evolution of this process to what it is today which is detailed and takes the necessary precautions.

I think this is the place one must visit. There are stories that needed to be told in order not to repeat the mistakes of the past. The stories of the war are scary and this place can surely bring tears to your eyes. We have to understand the pain behind the smiles of the people of Cambodia.

A must stop to see one mans effort to correct the evil of the land mine. His story unbelievable is one of caring for his country and trying to correct the wrongs done. What one person has done is fantastic. What needs to be done is far from done. The mines still injure people to this day. Makes you mad inside that humans can treat each other this way.

This museum is well worth the drive out of the city. It is small, but very moving and informative. Your $5 admission and any money spent in the gift shop go to support the museum, as well as the dozens of orphan children that live there. I recommend taking the (freeaudio guide and following the numbers through in order (0-22). Also may be worth visiting Banteay Srei temple as well while you are in the area, if you have a valid temple pass.Support a good cause and visit this museum!

Worth visiting. The museum is small but well organized and detailed-oriented. There are free plastic binders at the entrance (along the right wallin multiple languages that you can borrow as you walk through the museum. The binder is organized into different sections that correlate with specific parts of the museum. Learning about Aki Ra (former Khmer Rouge child soldier and founder of the Landmine Museumwas a very eye-opening and moving experience. His life and how hes been giving back to his country is heartbreaking and inspiring. Proceeds from the museum ticket go back to the museum (youll see a breakdown of where the money goes when you purchase your ticket). If you want to donate more, you can do so when you enter/exit. There is a large donation bin that you wont miss.
