Calicut Live - Indian restaurant in Manama, Bahrain
I first visited this place in 2015 back then it was known as Calicut Live.. Kerala cuisine.. Now, new name, new management.. All the best.
Comparatively it’s a better Kerala restaurant in Manama. Parking is main problem. Food & service is good.
Tried Bamboo Chicken Briyani. If youre Spicy and Masala Briyani Lover, then dont go for it. It would be bland only. All over good. Thanks for the sweet payasam at the end of the meal.
The meals are usually very good and the sidesBut for the past month the quality has gone really down.I hope to see an improvement by my next order
Serving an amazing array of south Indian (Keralacuisine in Manama, this restaurant is one of the favourites of even celebrities (from Keralawho visit Bahrain. Variety of dishes, deliciously cooked, beautifully served, great customer service and fair enough ambience. The Kanthari fish, Thai mango salad, Chembali fish tawa fry and Fish meals etc. are amazing. The issue is only with finding a parking space, rest is impressive!! Price wise, its quite reasonable !!
This place is our choice every Thursday for lunch with work colleague. They have good biryanis here, non vegetarians and vegetarians are welcome here. Since they have varieties of dishes here you can choose from. Good food at good price. Spacious restaurant, they have two floors which can accommodate huge group and family. The only problem will be a parking space. They don’t have their own parking space so you need to drive around to find a spot. The place is easy to find as it is on the main highway right after gold city.
Place is good for some Kerala food. I had fish curry meals. There was a bit of waiting for a place to sit. It was Friday afternoon and was understandable. The service could be better. The taste was good for various dishes. Beef fry was a lil bit in the spicier side with pepper. Mathi fry was good. All in all it is an average place to have a decent Kerala meals .3*Tried again another day, Kerala porotta and mutton varatiyathu. Was very disappointing. The mutton was cut in too huge chunks. It did not have the flavor. The spices in the gravy was standing out in a very unsatisfied manner. Porotta wasnt crisp and was more rubbery. Reducing a rating after repeated visit.2*
It a very good noth keralit restaurant the meal has variety of side dishes economical price good enviroment. In the heat of the city. It fits all pockets .
The best ever i tatsed delecious kerala food in Bahrain is in here. Taste of Dum biriyani(Chicken/Beefwas outstanding. And also have bamboo biriyani there , that was great. All foods serveed on banana leefs as kerala tredition. Overall i will give 5 stars.
Good restaurant..good kerala food..
Worst Place for trying food. No matter food is tasty but you cant expect good behaviour at least from the waitors.. Will never been to here again...
One of the best indian restaurants in bahrain. Even lot of celebrities has visited for food. I got a kulukki sarbath it was fantastic. I even had onam sadhya that was also awsome. Even arab people come here for having majboos, biriyani etc. Good hyegenic restaurant i will suggest you to visit atleast one time. If you dont have a car you can come by bahrain bus asbits close to manama bus station
This is the best hotel for having a Keralite food experience in Bahrain. The rates are cheaper compared to the other restaurants. The food quality and taste is so overwhelming that it reminds us of the food that we used to have at our home town. This place is located in Manama near the bus station. its the best . Totally a must place to visit.
Decent place, decent prices, the food is quite authentic Malabari cuisine except the Bamboo Biryani, thats a comolcom sham, dont fall for it, otherwise the food and restaurant is good
Tasty food and ambience is very good but the locality is very crowded and finding a parking nearby the hotel is very difficult. If you come with family and kids even to stop for few minutes in front of the restaurant is very difficult. But they have parking facility but still its little far! The only drawback is the parking if you sort out the parking then its a perfect place to dine!
Nice Bamboo biryani
Amazing food!! The place is always busy.. great option if you want to have a feast for a decent price.. some options in the menu were not available
Pathetic food.....Worst taste...waste of money and timeGuys, please do not have any expectation in the restaurant.Restaurant food was very very bad. Its not even good service for customers Far far away from Keralite authentic foods, we ordered chicken Tikka Malai that is not properly cooked and smelling like did not wash well and cooked in several times used oil, its really bad.... also the kerala meal is not good, no taste the fish fry is over marinate and cooked, more over the owner is not able to take responsibility and they charge full of its cost like he dont care............. and they dont have curtsy to say a single word SORRY, please please Don,t waste your money. I will NEVER visit again EVEN if they give FREEMy friends are was very upset and lost the full interest on keralite hotel service and food one of the keralite friend of mine is scolding himself why we visit this pathetic and worst restaurant
Food was ok. Tried their special bamboo biryani, rice was half cooked. Elastic roti naan spoiled the menu. But their butter chicken curry tasted well.
Horrible experience.. chicken malai kabab smelt of fish and was uncooked.. waiter act as if they are doing us a big favour for serving us food.. dont even respond when spoken to..
Very Bad. First time when we went we were served Fab food. And the next time when we went we ordered panner gravy and bamboo biryani. And all the spices were Missing. They forgot to put salt n pepper. Totally disappointing
Really great food with such generous quantity that itll surprise you. Its a great place for both family group and outings. Seating is comfortable. Since the place gets packed it can get a little noisy. Nevertheless its place youll frequent after youve tried it once. Parking could be a hassle around here but otherwise there is not better place to lunch at.
Very good biriyani
One of the good South Indian restaurant located in Manama area. Food is great if you’re going to order Malabar dishes. Ambience is okay but the restaurant lacks space and not suitable for a group of more than four people. Better to avoid if you are going along with the full family. No parking will be available near the restaurant. Service is pretty good.
Not a hygenic place. Please dont go to the wash room. You will not eat anything after that!! Food is ok. Have some varieties. But not worth for current price list.
Very arrogant staff. The biryani was very very bad, both chicken and beef. Very oily, uncooked rice and with no taste. The payasam that came with it was watery n bad. Will never try again...
Great service and food, always ask the waiter what does he recommend if your not well versed in Keralite food.
I saw the video of bamboo biryani on you tube and decided to venture . I was the only occupant in the restaurant at 8.15 pm. The service was fast but the dish (bamboo biryaniwas bland. It lacked the strong flavour and taste I was expecting. Overall ok experience.
Nice tasty kerala food... there will be a waiting time for the seats. Reasonable prices.
Must try Bombay baryani with Masla Mutton n all snacks its full of Paisa wasool taste 💋
Nice place to have south Indian meal especially Kerala meal. We celebrated Vishu (Kerala New Yearparty with our colleagues. It is not advisable for groups with more than 10 people as it is small and serving becomes tough.
Everything except space is amazing about this place, the food, the menu, the presentation, the authentic taste on palate everything and everything.Pls try the Kanthari Fish and Thai Grilled Prawn. Its amazingly Yum
This place proudly boasts about the cuisine from the coast of malabar from the Indian state of Kerala. Majority of the items are prepared in coconut oil. The menu is very vast and can be confusing if you are not well versed with food from this region. Quality of food is good and the service is fast. Staff is very friendly and polite. Parking can be a problem here because of its location.Prices ranges a bit on the higher side for the quality of food. Presentation of food is very good. Good to dine with family too.
It was a good eating spot. Very tasty south indian traditional food. After 2 days of Arabic style food in Bahrain found this place. Services are excellent.
Good keralite restaurant in Manama. Mutton Biriyani is special and tasty. All dishes are nice with good service. Only tough thing is to get a seat in holidays.
Best KERALA Restaurant in Bahrain...loved equally by Bahrainis for Bamboo biriyani😋😋😋
The bamboo baryani is their specialty, the Grills wasnt that good.. Seems like they were having trouble with the orders with some tables as our mixup was having one of the baryanis without mutton and the shrimp was horrible, chicken was okayish.
One of the best indian and cheap once
Good place , nostalgic , good food . A Kerala malabar experience.
Delicious Indian food specially South Indian. Bambu biryani is special here must try at least once. Fresh seafood is available and the avoid defrosted once. Crowded place. Sometimes you have to wait. Cozy. No family rooms are available.
Best Malabari restaurant. Had Biryani and sarbath.
Best Indian restaurant! Had to wait for an hour to get seated but it was well worth the wait. Very friendly staff and the food was equally good. Must visit place.
Very delicious food and nice place to visit. Try the banana leaf lunch on Friday afternoon. Also try the kandari fish and chicken screwdriver. Dont miss visiting this place as its one of the best Indian food in Bahrain.
Its a kerala special resturant specially famous for fish and kerala style Biryani. At start post order they serve you with complimentary malbari sulemani tea and sprouted grains. The tea is very tasty and u feel to ask for more. Its definately a feel good factor. We had fish grilled inside banana leaves with thick paste of masalas on fish, a bamboo biryani and a faloda icecream. The style was unique. The taste is little more on spicer side. Its recommended....
Cheap price and the taste is fine. I recommend bamboo biryani
Good place for North Malabar food. They have tasty variety dishes in veg, non-veg and sea food. Moderately crowded on weekends. They offer free home delivery with a minimum order of 2BD or so. Meals, biriyani etc are served on banana leaf.
Its a resturant that serves local Indian food in some kind of traditional way... their beryani is a must try
Had dinner at the place, kathnari chicken and fish are amazing but make sure not to say extra spicy or else you will realize the next day. They serve you hot water with some kind of coloring (some medicated stufftea and a plate of boiled lentils as complimentary and then you can start ordering. Over all it was a great experience. The food is at a normal price not cheap and not expensive. The fish is really juicy and tasty.
Now too Bad...When they started in Bahrain it was so good and many delicious foods were there. Now the quality becomes very poor. They must Improve..We expatriates (Especially Keraliates )need quality and traditional foods..In Bahrain there are few....Salkara Restaurant SalmaniyaOkra Restaurant MuharaqFlavours of Asia Riffa
Great food.. Portions on the medium to lower side. Lots of options and good authentic dishes too. It isnt surprising to see western and local crowds enjoying Kerala food too. Pretty packed usually and finding parking is a chore. Try once and decide
