Cala Banyalbufar - Super public bath in Marratxí, Spain
Cala Banyalbufar in Marratxí
Description
Privilege
Went in the morning (10amarea was completely shaded and waves seemed a bit dangerous on the rocks .. was a windy day.
MoreA couple tips for the best cala in Mallorca if you dont mind rocks (big round rocks with dry algae where you can lay on and another part with flatly cut cement where you can easily lay flat).Never seen it exaggeratedly crowded.Free parking down the steep road towards the beach (left side of roadbut only if you come earlyPayed parking up top in village (right side of road, goes down). But make proof! (pics or videoof: parking ticket position in window, and car position.Local police person is resentful of life and can give tickets to correctly parked cars (50 Eur)... Do not think this wont happen to you! Some payed parkings needs coins, card usually failsReserve restaurants upfront (1 day or moreif you want to eat on a nice terrace with views (I recommend: Son Thomas)Watershoes are helpfull but not neededWaterfall is sometimes activeJellyfish are random but check the water currents online so you can estimate the chances (if it flows towards inside the cala its worse than if it flows past it / sideways)Roads are not the worst in mallorca but are still curvy mountain ones.
MoreIt is very difficult to get to the beach. Impossible by car. You have to walk hundreds of meters. Lots of rocks
MoreIm staying in Banulbufar now, I used to drive down to the Cala and park in the car park and enjoy swimming in this beautiful place BUT !! The local council have taken it upon themselves to close the car park so now you have to walk down and back from the village, which at 67 with respiratory problems I cant do , so looks like I will never swim here again! VERY DISAPPOINTED 😞
MoreNice and quiet. Gorgeous water. Incredible views and sea life
Heads up! You only reach the Cala taking the western road.
Great place to go diving/snorkeling! Water is very clear and calm (almost no waves). Took a bit of effort getting there. Parking is quite inpossible near these bays on the western side of the island. There is a path which leads to the bay but halfway through it stops. Would recommend wearing watershoes since the rocks can be quite slippy and there could be crabs.
MoreVery worth seeing place with lots of mountains for hiking and climbing. Also highly recommended for cyclists.
MoreA real little treasure, difficult to find but a fabulous location.Stoney bay but water is so warm.Popular with locals and limited space for stretching out.More accessible by scooter as you can go right down leaving a 5 minute walk to the bay, otherwise its a good walk down and wouldnt want to do the walk back up as its fairly steep and 2km at least
MoreWe travelled all around Mallorca and went to more than 20 Cala. Here is the worst we’ve been to. The parkings are far away and it’s a deep walk to access, then hard way back up. The waves are high, you can’t really swim nor relax. I do not recommend this place !
MoreBeautiful and "different" cove, with those enormous concrete columns and the small waterfall. In May at least it was closed because of a tornado that had uprooted many trees that needed to be cleared. From the village it is less than 10 minutes walk, quite steep though.Water was extremely clean and pretty.
MoreAmazing Cala! Beautiful village as well! Better to park in the village and go walking until the beach!
MoreParadise on earth. Hopefully it will stay this way and locals will not allow the corporates to "develop it".
MoreUnfortunately closed since today 26 March 2021. A helicopter and crew is doing restorational work.
MoreAmazing little village with amazing view points... Banyalbufsr is cute tiny village and the play is rocks and stones but the water and the location bis so beautiful
MoreBeautiful views and natural springs as well as a small waterfall. Unfortunately ruined by people playing awful music and taking IG selfies in various ridiculous positions. Water has a lot of sea life but also a lot of plastic and trash on the bottom of the seabed.
MoreJust look at the picture... Crystal clear water, normally calmed and not crowded. Plus people cannot park close, its actually quite a steep way down and up, which means less people, win-win!
MoreCrystal clear water, beautiful scenery to admire while swimming, there is a waterfall as well. The only drawback is that the beach itself is very small and concrete part is not very cosy.
MoreGreat place to snorkel, even through it depends on the weather. Sometimes the waves are to big to stay there. Take some shoes to wear in the water because of all the rocks.
MoreIts definitely a unique place, with the cliff and the small waterfall. Dont expect a sandy beach though, and the waves can be strong on a windy day. Theres a very steep climb up and down which takes 15 minutes each way. Remember to bring enough water and sunscreen because you cannot buy it there
MoreAmazing beach with best water
Here is our experience of this place. We took our car down and followed Google maps to get us down to the beach which proved to be the longest one and involved a lot more stairs. You ended up by the boats and it was hard to see through how you can end up at the cala, but we got through. The cala itself is rocky, it has a little manmade waterfall and as usual crystal clear Mallorcan sea. It is not for families with a buggie as you will need to carry it quite far down on the stairs. On our way up we came back where we should have come down : from the view point which is at the end of ’Camí es Molí’. So if you follow Google maps ignore what it says and follow this route to get down to the beach. You can park your car at the view point (there arent many parking spaces there ), however also arent many people visiting this beach. On the way up get ready for a very steep walk or drive.
MoreNice little cove but not much sand
The most beautiful and clear beach in Mallorca even with a waterfall 🏝
Nice little path down to a rocky beach with a small waterfall on the rock walls. Not much to do once you get there, but a good backdrop for portraits.
MoreNice view from the beach but you have to be careful because rocks keep falling from the cliff right on the beach and you could really get hurt. Also few place to lay down, rocks are not so comfortable and water is often cold
MoreGreat views, nice place!
Nice, quiet beach. The reason for this is that you need to do quite a walk to get there! Parking is available not next to the beach, but in town. The beach itself is rocky and the place where you can lay down is either in concrete or next to it a small stone sand
MoreOn a sunny day, the water is crystal clear and the perfect temp to cool off. Free Parking available at the bottom of a steep hill. Best to get there early, before 11 or so. Definitely need water shoes, its rocky with no soft sand anywhere. You may spy some goats along the surrounding walls. The only access is via steps, about 4 min walk from the parking area. Underwater I spotted some tiny to small fish, a few jellies and small crabs, very safe area for swimming. Doesnt get much better than this! 🌊 🌞
MoreThe beach was beautiful. The views were stunning. Although the road down to the lot was very scary being almost one way and being almost straight down it was frightening. At the bottom in the car lot the views are incredible. You follow a small path down and around down to the beach itself which was very crowded. There is water dripping from the cliffs that provided a natural shower. Theres a fair amount of concrete here and the water was rough. There are also strange rocks here and theyre jutting up. There are numerous tropical fish in the water is it excellent place to snorkel. The views of the surrounding town in the cliffs in The Terraces are awe inspiring. But overall the beach was too crowded in the areas to get into the water was very rough
MoreOne of top 5 beaches(cliffsin Mallorca
The beach is cool. Its rocky. The water clear. The waterfall is awesum, you can wash yourself from the salt after u finish swimming. Parking is hard, you may walk 10minutes. CAREFULL of medusas! bring googles.
MoreAmazing place crystal clear water but beware of jellyfish. In case of jellyfish burn, dont wash it with clean water, use salty water. Remove the remains if any with a tissue without touching it. Use vinegar or cream from phamacy. People around likely to have such cream:)
MoreYou have to walk some stairs but its worth it. Check first the car park that is closer to the beach before leaving it at the village, because we were idiots and left the park at the village and the way up was killing us. There were quiet a lot of jellyfish so be careful.
MoreBest “beach” in Majorca. Go there and plan to stay the full day and you won’t regret! Bring water and some snacks as there is nothing really that close to the bay! Enjoy
MoreThis beach is a great hidden little gem! Beautiful place with sea and rocks and a little waterfall! Very hard to reach but definitely worth it!
MoreSecluded pebble/man made beach popular with locals and visitors alike. Ideal for snorkeling and exploring along the rocky coastline to the east of the beach. No café/bar so be sure to take a picnic and plenty drinks.Steep walk down to the beach. Not suitable for wheelchair users.
MoreBeautiful view, beautiful water in bay with lots of fish to see-> great spot for snorkel. You need coral shoes to get into water as there are lots of stones which are also slippery and its very difficult to enter otherwise.
MoreBeautiful view..Must stay till sunset 😍😍
As soon as I saw this enchanting cala (Spanish for "little bay"), I thought "this has to be the God of all the calas in Mallorca!".To get there you have to go through a very steep and narrow road, so be careful while driving, also because the street is not one way.Park your vehicle at the end of the road (or shortly before the end), walk for 100 meters ca. and BOOM, there it is, Cala Banyalbufar, with its ancient Greek temples style, thanks to the huge pillars and the waterfall that comes from the aboves creek. As always the waters quality is impeccable, where the sea floor is perfectly visible. For those who dont like to have salt in their skin, after swimming in the sea water, no worries, the waterfall provides a natural shower and it is very clean. Its a rocky and cement beach without sandy, soft soil, so make sure to bring some soft shoes or, at least, something that covers your feet all the way. Even though I survived also on my flip-flops.You will absolutely love Cala Banyalbufar!
MorePretty private beach but very rocky and no sand. Space is also limited to really lay out. Better for smaller groups and couples. Also, a very steep walk down to the water. Visuals are worth the trek.
MoreWonderful beach and amazing view! Very calm villlage. Though be prepared for a really curvy and narrow road. But it’s worth it, and the view from the road is amazing.
MoreI visited this Cala in April. The place is wonderful since it is not packed by the "all-inclusive" tourist and the setting remains quite pure :)
MoreSmall village. Visit the harbour, its superb (if youre fit enough for the steps leading to it).
MoreNice and quite place for hiking or staying there some time, but it’s not a normal beach place
MoreNot your typical kind of beach. Rocky, and the best place to sit and sun-bathe is 40 feet above the sea. But quiet on a not so bright day and therefore quite good.
MoreVery nice place with clear water. Dont forget to bring snorkeling gear to this place
MoreAmazing view, nice for a chill out from crowded beaches.
Calm beach with a waterfall and rocks, its the greatest by evening as then the sunlight gets to the Cala
MoreLove this rocky beach. Great for scuba diving, sea climbing and to see the sunset if you re looking for a typical sandy beach with bars, leave the north east coast and go to Ballermann or Magaluf ;)
