Cold chips waiter did not say anything was not even offered some more hot chips

The spur at Cape gate was amazing to us on Saturday, however we just had long waiting periods in between everything.We waited nearly 30 minutes for a takeaway box. Another 10-15min for the bill.But otherwise we had no further problems.

Very very slow service!!! Desperately need more staff!!!

My partner and I had the misfortune of dining here last night, bear in mind that this was my first time eating at a spur restaurant in over 2 years.We arrived at the restaurant at 20h45 and were greeted by a pleasant lady who showed us to our table, upon being seated, she advised that we have until 10pm to place our order.Some time passed until our waiter arrived, he wasnt very hospitable in his approach and advised us that the kitchen closes at 9 and we felt a bit rushed to order, coming from a hospitality background myself, I felt that he could have handled the situation better. I especially didnt like the comment that he made, "well, youre inside now". It made us feel unwelcome and as if he was doing us a favor by serving us. I took extreme exception to this, because, in my experience, you treat your last table as you treated your first.Our food came out quickly and was fairly good. I had the big bear combo and my partner had the apache combo. My steak was overcooked, as the waiter neglected to ask for a temperature on my meat. My partner noted that her wings were quite dry, but that is in no way the waiters fault.Overall the dining experience was rather disappointing, as I had just gotten off a 12 hour shift and thought I would be spontaneous and spoil my partner a bit.The entire evening however was not a let down, the big guys section that was next to our waiters, Lee-Roys, section had a very warm and approachable presence. The minimal interaction that we had with him was truly the highlight of the evening. I want to commend him on being a customer service professional and appreciate his contribution to our dining experience, if we are ever to return, I would insist on being served by that gentleman.Stay crispy folks😎

Brilliant and delicious food. Awesome service and wonderful waitrons, they knew their specials, they able to joke around with the customers and the managers come and check on you aswell, awesome experience, cant complain about anything, will definitely be back for more.

Had a meal there on Sunday afternoon. When the meal came there was no place mats put on the table and no knifes and forks to eat with. The chips was getting cold so i started eating it with my hand cos i didnt want cold chips.When the manager walked passed i asked him if there was any chance of us getting knifes and forks to eat with and he just walked and fetched it for us..Not the type of service i expected from them.No appology from the lady who help us.Not seeing me soon again after going there quit regularly!!!!

Excellent service, trainee waitress served us brunch R99 for pensioners, good food, great atmosphere, double blessing to be in the presence of one of the band members, Chadley Govar, distinguished bass guitar player, on Johnathan Rubains programme. Double blessings.

Terrible quality food and place was so packed that it was hot and I even felt closter phobic specially with no aircon at all and its winter too. Milkshakes where over sweet all 4 we ordered thar we rather left and bought take aways elsewhere. This is a pitty as this used to be my no2 spur to go to. No1 is still tygervalley especially when it comes to the quality of food and there waffles are always perfect. Mmmm. Nothing like a classic waffle with half cream and half ice-cream when its done perfect. My no 2 spur will have to be the one above the OK in Boston near to DF Malan high school. There waffles are next best with great quality service and food. Thats just my opinion for now. Hopefully the next visit might be different but we will have to wait and see to when that might be! The service was good, but the quality of the food was shocking. The size of the Buffalo wings was actually unacceptable for what you pay.... I have had the same meal at other Spur branches, but this was the worst ever. Do not serve it if it is too small.

Spacious smoking area and great service! You do not even realize you are sitting in a mall.

Yesterday was my Daughters Birthday 🎉 and it was Beautiful Thank you Spur Cape gate 💕 the kids had sooo much fun.I am definitely joining the Tribe.

Went there on 1 August 2022 for lunch. The wait to be served was a bit long even though our section was not filled (no other customers until a few minutes after we sat). We were served by someone on training which wasnt a problem. After taking our order (drinks and foodwe waited some time for our drinks to come. I specifically stated no onion rings with my chicken and buffalo wings and still received the onion rings, but I didnt send the plate back, I finished my plate exept the onion rings (might have been the trainees first time). Perhaps I should have corrected her when she asked if everything is fine, but I didnt want to make a fuss about something that I didnt ask for, they can just throw it out. I enjoyed my cosmopolitan (didnt taste like a real cosmopolitan as it was very sweet). I must say, the meals came quicker than the drinks (straight after we got the drinks). They do have a smoking area as well as a play area.Id advise the staff to rather double check the order (which they do but usually still get something wrong, in my experience as customer who does go to Spur often).Regardless of the above, Id still recommend this branch if youd like to eat some lekker food and drink. The staff is friendly but a teeny bit slow.

Brian saved the day after another Spur branch dropped me a hour and a half before my 6 year olds birthday party was suppose to start. He quickly jumped in and organized for my sons party to be moved there. Unbelievable service, kudos to him and his team!

Service was very poor. Waiters were standing and doing nothing. I had to ask to be sitted. Payment of bills took forever not only for me but other customers aswell. This place service is not as it used to. Was so happy to be greeted with a smile by Loveness she made my day. My breakfast was okay, service was terrible with a capital letter T

Had the worst experience here yesterday. The waiter was so rude and refused to give us what we asked for. We asked for the sauce burger. He then asked with what sauce. We said Peri Peri as we don’t like any other sauce. He then repeatedly said what sauce and we kept saying peri peri. He then said yes but what sauce, mushroom, pepper or garlic. We kept saying peri peri. Then he said he knows what he’s doing, pick a sauce. So we just said pepper for him to leave us alone. When the meal came it was a burger topped with peri peri and pepper sauce. 😷 he did not say he’s going to mix sauces. Then he just stared at us without saying anything. The burger was dry and tasteless as well! Service was so bad and we just wanted to leave. Will not be returning! Please speak to your staff! Very disappointing!

Terrible,i have a dbl cappuccino that was tasteless. Farm style wors was like droe wors, grill tomato was not grill but sliced and place in the plate. Toast was soft. Fried mushroom was absolutely devine.Eggs were made to perfection.

Food is well prepared, Venue neat and calming. The 4 Ribs ordered was very disappointing as the texture and taste was different than other Ribs, from different outlets/stores. Kiddies area well taken care of and a staffer is available to attend to all children busy at the kiddies area. Food and beverage can be dined indoors or for takeout and staff are very friendly and helpful,

I always enjoy the spur atmosphere, although this type of restaurant will not be for everybody. Great place to take kids for their birthdays. I always love it when the staff start singing happy birthday.

Food is always good and service is great. This place would get 5 stars if it werent for the bathrooms🤦‍♂️Its hardly ever clean.

The place was dirty, tables with plates everywhere. Plates taken from tables and then just left on other tables. The silver bottle holders on the tables cant say when last that was cleaned. Tables not cleaned when people leave. It was Monday evening it was not that busy and service was very slow. Not sure if the ones in blue shirts are managers or what but they would rather jump around and chat at the lifts then maybe help clean the place. Would really think twice about going back there. Not that it bothers me, but not once did anyone check on us, normally this happens every where. It felt like the Managers or who ever is incharge went home early and everyone left just did not bother the clean tables as they will not get into trouble.

Lately the food has been on the up and up, but service time is as slow as ever. Spicy chicken mayo sandwich is fantastic as sandwiches go. Definitely recommend

I used to love going to this Spur, when I used to walk. Now I’m a wheelchair user & cant access it. Me & my family went there & I forgot there are only steps to the entrance & all of them could enter excepting me, so we opted to go somewhere else. But the kids were so excited to go to Spur, but I refuse to support a restaurant that’s still not accessible for wheelchair users. I’m sure there are many wheelchair users who feel the same. Spur makes enough money to make renovations so that their restaurants can be accessible for all. If I could I’d give them No stars from me.

Gotta be the best spur experience in RSA for me. Angelique was our host for the morning and she was extremely gracious. The portions were super generous and the steak was juicy and fresh.

Best spur that I have ever eaten at. The chips were fresh, the onion rings super fresh an delicious and the burger was tasty and their staff are awesome. Definitely recommend them.

Managers was very helpful and friendly but we had bad service from the waiters. The one manager eventually took our order and served us. The good was good. No issues with that.

Worst service ever. I will definately not visit Cape Gate Spur ever again. Smoke area is so dark you cant read the menu. Waitress is so delayed and did not check that food we ordered was correct when she collected it at kitchen counter. Toasted bacon and cheese was what was ordered but received toasted bacon cheese and egg. The egg was just removed in the kitchen and same sandwich was served again. To crown it all I was charged for toasted bacon cheese and egg. I just wonder what would have happened if my daughter was allergic to eggs and the kitchen just removed the egg from I could still see pieces of egg on the sandwich. Very disappointed experience

This has to be one of the best Spur franchise that Ive ever visited. My waitor Brian was amazing. The manager was also fantastic in attending to the minor issue I had with hot vegetables. Overall the service exceeded my expectations and Ill definitely call again. I highly recommend this 🤗😍

The food is as good as a Spur can get and good friendly service. My only gripe with all the Spurs are their coffee which is just bad overall. Its probably the coffee brand perhaps but its not enjoyable as other places. Then again its not specialized in coffee but in todays age of coffees getting the red carpet treatment it should be general practice for all restaurants to have a decent coffee brand. If you are coming here for that reason particularly maybe consider other options then. This Spur however is very helpful and professional friendly staff which to me is one of the best amongst many.

We visited on 1Aug21 for breakfast. Our waitress Kaylyn was efficient, she brought new meaning to "dynamite comes in small packages" . The management was wonderful kept checking in to make sure everything was running smoothly. Covid protocols in place allowed us to celebrate my father in laws birthday safely. Food was lovely and service was excellent. Keep up the good work

Ive been to many Spurs and this is the best! The Quality and Quantity of thr Food was Spectacular. Our Waiter was super attentive and catered to our needs. Management was the best and checked up on us. I would definitely recommend it to everyone as it will be the Spur of my choice from now on.

Got an underdone steak and sauce tasted like soap. Waiter only brought my childs food after my husband had finished eating(it was ordered at the same time).Manager very courteous about sorting out the steak though.

Always good food but portions seem to vary always. Ordering the same meal twice might give you a different amount of chips each time. However the staff are extremely friendly and my son enjoys the play area very much

Food took a bit long. Waiter was friendly and attentive. But chicken SPECIAL that was advertised on tv and should have been good was dry and tasted like it was warmed up in a microwave. But not a awful experience. Just spend my money going somewhere else next time

I ordered a combo last night, i felt dizzy while I was eating and decided to make a take away. I then took my food to work because I had to work that night and the attached pictures showed me that the steak is off and green in colour. should I sue you a cow or should I report you?
