Caffe Mediterraneo - Italian restaurant in Chimaltenango, Guatemala
Its over priced. We all got pasta and were all disappointed with the portion size. The taste was decent, but nothing special. The service wasnt great. Our waiter seemed annoyed to be there.
Amazing food, owner’s a very complicated person with no customer service skills at all!
Excelentes las pastas, las ensaladas, el vino👌🏼
We went for the first time here as one friend recommend us the restaurant. I think the food was ok, small portions, but we can say tasty. Not fresh pasta but well cooked. I cannot say its always like this the service, but I will tell you our experience that night: since the explanation of the menu, the attitude of the chef was bit arrogant, but we didnt mind that much. But when asked to the chef about what types of wine he had, his only short harsh answer was red or white? we wanted to know what cepage and we asked him. He answered us in rude manner, saying wine was or red or white... clearly annoyed by my question. At the end he brought The Red and The White so I could choose, but again letting us feel he was annoyed by doing so. So even though food was good, for this incident I wont recommend it, as it leaves you with a bittersweet feeling. For italians, weve prefered the service at Davinci or El Cazador italiano, similar prices, but they took their time to welcome us and explains us the menu as the wines, also food was excellent, so it make a perfect experience. Thing that we couldnt experience at Mediterraneo that night.
Fresh Italian that is the real thing!
Excellent food and service
Visiting from Florida, US and was very disappointed. Food was very simple for the price being charged and the menu was so complicated to understand for no reason. They charge for EVERYTHING. Owner even came over to assist in explaining but for some reason it did not feel like a welcoming environment, only 1 waiter.
Pretty underwhelming. Small portions, the same song playing three times in one sitting, staff smoking directly outside within feet of our table.
This is the best Italian restaurant in Antigua. Wonderful flavors, lovingly presented. Strong wine list and amazing desserts. The chef explains each dish offered. Attentive wait staff.
Excellent food: pasta!, clams and mussels over spaghetti with white wine and garlic sauce, burrata salad! Yummy. And the chef and server could not have been more attentive
Wonderful
This restaurant was amazing! My wife and I came for a date night and we’re not disappointed. We started with the burrata and both had pasta of the day dishes. The wine was also very nice.On top of this, the atmosphere was great. Every guest was welcomed as if they were family. A perfect place for a nice dinner.
Great service, intimate, perfect for date night, food was great, wine was great, reminds us of our favorite spots in Spain! We had the burrata appetizer, 2 pastas of the day, and merlot by the glass.
Good Italian food and friendly staff. We had a delicious burrata starter. The mains were good. Leave room for tiramisu!
Incredibly good food, the owner is very kind and gracious, the wait staff is wonderful, and the atmosphere is absolutely perfect. Highly recommend this restaurant for both of food and the service!
Hands down, the best Italian food in Antigua. Three pasta courses that change based on the ingredients available, and great antipasti as well! Tip: start your meal with the burrata!
Probably my favorite restaurant in Antigua Guatemala. The place is small but with a cozy vibe, that adds up a lot. The pasta plates are great, simple and straightforward; with two or three ingredients Francesco (the ownerand his team delight you with vivid flavors
Wow! Was super great! The service and food was exceptional. Will go back soon.
Excellent pasta!!! So delicious!
This is our favorite Italian in Antigua. Fresh, flavorful, great portion, consistent and above fast & attentive service. We highly recommend it!
Excellent pasta dish and a very cozy / quiet atmosphere. The service was fast and efficient too. Totally recommended!
This place was amazing! Great ambience from the lighting to the displays to the jazz music. Food was outstanding! Service was excellent! Would highly recommend.
WOW IS THIS PlACE CHEAP! Walked into this restaurant after looking at the menu posted outside. My boyfriend and I were looking for some wine and antipasto. I went to the bathroom and didn’t think the food at the other table looked very good when I passed by... After returning to my table my boyfriend and I decided that the price point was too high to chance having bad food. We decided to leave and go to a different Italian place that we know to be good. While getting up to leave the waiter ran over to us and tried to charge us 25Q for two glasses of water (not bottled just tap water)! Whoever is the owner of this place should be ashamed of themselves. You can get a meal anywhere even in the market or at a comedor and they will give you all the water you can drink for free. Wow are you cheap for being such a “nice” restaurant that you have to charge 25Q for some filtered water.BETTER OPTIONS-Down the street is La Pasta Nostra which is really good or go to Romeo and Juliette for an amazing Antipasto plate. If you want delicious handmade ravioli and tapas go to Fermento.
Me encantó! Tiene un estilo auténtico. Las pastas son excelentes... Verdadera pasta italiana.
Loved the food
The Italian chef/owner raised our expectations of an authentic Italian meal. What was served was subpar quality, even for Guatemalan standards.
Visitato durante un viaggio di lavoro.Locale accogliente e ottimo cibo.I formaggi sono eccezionali.
Small place few tables. Food ok. Owner with an attitute.
We eat at this place every time we visit Antigua because the food is EXCELLENT. I lived in Italy for 2 years so I’m really picky about my pasta. I’m never disappointed here. Perfectly al dente with fresh, flavorful sauces. I alway finish my meal with a beautiful cappuccino. Mmmm... so satisfied! The chef/owner is a bit serious, but still very attentive. We’ll be back!
We visited this place 3 times in 2012, and now were back in 2017 and the pasta is still pure perfection - Al dente. You cant go wrong with any of the pasta specials! We also had the shrimp dish cooked with lemon & garlic and finished with the Panna Cotta + cappuccino - simply perfect. We visited on a Tuesday night and it was sadly empty, we were surprised but at least the food was as amazing as we remembered it.A must try for Italian/pasta/food lovers.
Just like being in Italy—love this place!
Excellent service and food
Had a fantastic lunch here last Sunday! Staff is extremely friendly and helpful even though we know little to no Spanish. Menu is simple and delicious. Had mozzarella and tomato bruschetta for starter followed by zucchini pasta and fish. They were very accommodating with me being vegetarian. Would highly recommend. Will definitely return!
Really good, freshly prepared, food. Small and quiet and very good for small parties.
Tasty Italian dishes and good wine. The pasta and appetizers were good, but dishes were surprisingly small. Really small.
