Café littéraire in Vevey

The food is great and the place is cosy and is very inviting. The major downside are the waitresses that seem to loath every minute of their time spent in the establishment. Not a single Hello, Goodbye, thanks or whatnot.Took the brunch combos and they were pretty good (they say it comes with spinnache in cream sauce but its in salad not cooked formbut was missing a little salt.When we asked for the bill we had to wait 20min for the waitress to bring it to us then leave straight away without letting us pay for another 15min (I just left the cash on the table as I was fed up waiting longer to pay than to eat).

Accueil chaleureux, beau paysage en face du lac Léman, terrasse et salle en intérieur. Grand choix de boissons et petite restauration. Jai pris un chocolat chaud au épices maison, le meilleur que jai bu. Et les serveurs vous guides bien.

Excellent walk in meal with my adult family. A superb welcome from owner and a young English speaking guy from behind the bar. Fresh innovative food superbly presented in a great atmosphere. Couldn’t believe we were so lucky. Really reasonably priced unlike our hotel which charge what they fancy as they think they are better than they are. A real gem on the lakeside in Vevey. Well done guys👍

Im sorry to be so harsh but for a café that advertises their coffee as being artisanal what I was served was anything but artisanal quality. I tried the iced coffee and the cappuccino and neither were particularly good nor exceptional.

Took a train out of Lausanne just to try out the place. Greeted with warmth and offering the brunch menu even though we were at the very edge of the hours. The good is great, named after literary giants but clearly emulating culinary ones. You cant beat the view off the terrace, spectacular mountains and clouds while you enjoy your meal. A jewel in Vevey.

Nice little restaurant with a variety of events to keep the atmosphere interesting.They propose a small menu full of creativity, based on seasonal and local products.

We were there for lunch and had to wait more than 45minutes just for the soup (starter). No very cool when having a small kid with you...

Small cakes are very tasty, great view of the lake, good for homeoffice, nice and cosy atmosphere

Service is very slow and disorganized. Menu on the website is misleading. Advertises brunch on Sundays but it was all that was available on Saturday at noon. The food, is good, although the white of the poached egg was undercooked. Excellent spiced hot chocolate.

View of the lake is good. Only had a main course for lunch and it was pretty good but not amazing. Long wait for our mains which was 2 of the same main course. We were halfway through our meal when the waitress asked if we wanted bread to go with the rest of our meal and we said yes. That wait took 15 minutes and in that time we had already finished our meal. The waitress didnt look busy at all, she just forgot. My partner also had a lemonade which was the smallest glass so it wasnt worth the money. Overall, the service is too slow. Im sure there are better restaurants you can find along the lake.

Friendly, nice outdoor seating with lake view. Well presented dishes.

Great terrace on the edge of the lake, high price, coffee is below averages(if the machine is not broken). Go there for the landscape, the sun and the people but not for beverage.

Orange juice with lemon was wayyy too sour. Vanilla ice cream tastes like mixed fruit. A very very average experience.

Big crush on this spot

Very sneaky with prices. Poor customer service.I ordered a glass (1dlof red wine. There was one type listed and it cost CHF 4.60.I got the check and they had charged CHF 8.50 for the special wine of the moment.I told them there was a mistake and they said "No, you didnt specify which wine you wanted." Poor form, café littéraire. Thats not how you treat people.

Great food with highly service-minded people

Boule de suif for brunch was really delicious. Terrace with view on the lake is always an extra point. As usual in the French part of Switzerland, you need to try really hard to get your bill paid.

This cafe is right next to the library. It has good coffee and all of the typical coffee options. There is also several soda options and teas. They also have some pastries. They have tables inside and outside of the cafe. There is a sofa and comfortable chairs. There is a restroom for men, women, and there is a changing table for babies. This is a good place to stop for a coffee after taking a walk along the lake. Its a cute cafe with a nice and relaxing atmosphere. This would be a good place to bring a book, or check out a book, from the library next door, and enjoy a cup of coffee.

Super cosy spot, with direct access to the library! This goes without saying it is the perfect place to read a good book while having a drink! Also great to get some work done. The terrace facing the lake is super nice, especially in summer!

Great location and drinks

I was here at half past three on a cold winters day. The sun was shining brightly through the large windows which afforded a splendid view of the promenade, the lake and the French Alps. The place was full. Its a sociable place. The overall mood is laid back but there is plenty of chatter. Food and drink was good but nothing special. The portions were very small! My chocolate fondant was served in a pot which is so tiny it would be suited to hold some Chantilly or jam. I was told the chocolate drink was "epais" but it barely thicker than a standard hot chocolate. IMO, they need a special machine to improve the consistency. Otherwise, a pleasant experience.

Bon cafe, bon service. Neat and clean with great omelettes and menu for kids if you get there in time for brunch. Also connected to a library and bookstore, which was fantastic for the kids!

Good price and excellent atmosphere. All products are Swiss and proximity :)
