Café du Palais - Brewery in Reims, France
Café du Palais in Reims
Description
Stopped in after visiting a few of the tasting rooms nearby. Enjoyed a few Kir Royales and a few apps. We had a great time sitting on the patio, but wished we would have sat inside because of the character of the cafe (insideis where it’s at! Awesome decor inside this hidden gem , no matter what you cannot go wrong. Enjoy!
MoreGood food and excellent service
Food was tasty , decor and ambience lovely and staff a real gem. Just think the price was quite high and it I wouldn’t say it was absolutely top notch. So very good and worth visiting but a 4 star is an accurate reflection overall imo
MoreVery accommodating wait staff. We speak very little French. Our waiter explained all aspects of the menu without hesitation. Lunch was excellent.
MoreNice cafe right in front of the palace of justice. The lunch menu is limited, and better suited for a quick bite. Many customers take a drink and some pastry. The service is a bit rushed but good. We had a croque au truffe (from the menu of the dayand a big piece of foie gras, both nice. And of course, 2 glasses of champagne!
MoreThis place is not only super cute with all kinds of art hanging around and beautiful stained glass ceiling, but it has awesome food. We only experienced it through breakfast but everything was perfect.Staff was super friendly.
MoreThe Cafe du Palais is unlike any other place youll find in the world! We were drawn in to visit after seeing pictures of the imaginative decor within the restaurant. What we didnt find out until we arrived was the excellent food and historic relics the Cafe du Palais also provided. We received EXCELLENT service from a waiter who was proud to tell us all about the cafes impressive history. There was a stained glass window designed by the same man whod worked on the Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Reims inside the restaurant. It found its place among all of the other quirky decorations and art that included works by some famous artists. For me, the highlight of our fantastic meal was the duck confit which was out of this world good! Id never had a duck dish anywhere near as tasty in my life! It was surrounded by flavorful mushrooms, potatoes, and bacon. The duck itself was so, so, so succulent! We also made sure to have some Reims champagne (how could we not?that went well with our meals, and while we were too full to try and of the homemade desserts which looked great, we were very satisfied with the entire experience. The wacky wild atmosphere of the Cafe du Palais may be what gets you in the door. But the amazing food and high-end service are what will make you want to come back ASAP. I know I wish I was back there for dinner right now! Too bad its thousands of miles away! Thank you to the entire staff for making our lunch date one to remember!
MoreGrand café, Champagne, Jazz… Great.
Classic lunch when in Reims
Good price quality and friendly service.
Lovely friendly staff and excellent food right in the centre of Rheims.
Friendly Staff. However the quality of the food was super disappointing. Many blogs praised this restaurant but our experience did not meet our expectations. Cold red wine, way too expensive tasteless escargot tagliatelle, lasagna served out of a cheap retail package and a sad salmon croque monsieur. Do not recommend. 😬
MoreThis was a great stop for lunch! Great food, service and a wonderful ambiance. I would definitely come back
MoreA beautiful place & the perfect spot to try a little champagne. My family and I loved our time here.
Morea place with a story cannot be told, we must live it. listen with your eyes and savor the typical dishes. even if you know the wines, ask for advice. simply refined service! important stop for a curious traveler!
MoreBusy friendly eatery. Enjoyed our meal
Loved the casual atmosphere and service!
Somehow quite outstanding and above our expectations. Highly recommended
Good location. Really French and good food
Very nice ambiance and good food. The menu is a bit limited to pasta with something, but we had the confit de canard and it was good.Desert was good as well.Price goest together with the name, i.e not the cheapest you will find (but it is a good one).
MoreKitsch but charming, le café du Palais is an incontournable of Reims. Ideally located, its menu is rather simple but you can feel the authenticity and the tradition in the food you ear. Kind and professional service is also a plus.
MoreGreat location, fun atmosphere and the staff is great! Plenty of good food and drink choices! Very close to the cathedral and worth the drop in!
MoreJust stopped for glass of champagne, lovely welcoming staff
Wonderful cafe that has as much history as its food does flavour. I believe there is no better place to enjoy a nice bite to eat here in Reims. The staff are friendly, welcoming and are well versed in the history of the art that lines the walls. Dont pass this place up!
MoreBeautifully sweets, great coffee, worth a visit.
A superb cafe/bistro in the grand French style. We had an excellent meal and the staff were friendly and very attentive. You should try the famous house rum-baba! Also go inside to see some unexpected works of art adorning the walls. Highly recommended.
MoreFood was ok, relatively expensive, though.
It was what we expected, an OK cafe. Prices are higher than others in the area as Im certain they have a lot of tourist traffic. The waiter was pleasant and helped us with our broken French.
MoreThe food was an absolute joke. Really don’t waste your money here
Lovely bar (there are too many to name in Paris, though). Silly expensive.
We paid 41euros for 2 glasses of wine and canned food....ridiculous...dont know why people rate this more than 2 stars. Quality of canned food was good but I guess is the exact same if you buy it from supermarket.
MoreFantastic atmosphere
The place is beautiful.. very special decorations, art deco details.BUT if you want to spend 9 euros in 2 cups of tea this is the place... I think it is very overpriced for what it offers. The restrooms were super dirty.I would not come back
MoreLovely food, great view
Such a historic restaurant! The wine list is great and more affordable than I was expecting
MoreOld school French food and charming service. Very reasonable prices.
Terrible lunch and cant recommend it to anyone. Typical tourist trap with expensive food. It was honestly disgusting which I hate to say.
MoreLovely food, staff and atmosphere. Food was straightforward and delicious. Very french and very enjoyable.
MoreLimited menu but it is a cafe and not a full blown restaurant. A wide selection of champagne though, so a good choice to sit and sip on a glass or work your way through a bottle!
MoreAbsolutely spectacular! A beautiful cafe in a great location with good service and possibly the best chocolate milkshake of my life (Milkshake Gourmand)!
MoreGood & tasty plates. Not for the faint of heart as the quantities are huge.
Excellent service, authentic french food. Amazing foie gras! Highly recommended!
MoreHad a couple of coupes of Champagne while people watching from the outdoor seating. Small snacks were provided with the wine. Blankets available if necessary.
MoreLovely spot for a beer, sat on the terrace soaking up the evening sun.
Great lunch. Busy, but service is great. Smoked salmon great gluten free option! Interesting artwork and good atmosphere.
MoreShocking experience. Extremely limited menu (around 8 "dishes"would make you think - especially at these prices - that the meals and ingredients are savvy and fresh. Think again. We were willing to overlook the "quality" of the pre-meal bread (received in a basket without butter and dry as sandout of good faith, but what followed was an absolute farce. The "tagliatelle au saumon fume" (€22consisted of - literally- overcooked tagliatelle smothered in mushroom slices (clearly pre-bought at retailer), topped with smoked salmon, straight out of the packaging from (what I hope wasthe fridge, and which wouldnt even be sold by your local night shop. The salmon was sour and highly salted, but the latter could be an improvement over the natural state of the product. The "pata negra" (€26was extremely dry, and could best be described as having the texture of paper-maché. Mind-boggling that such a label could be associated with what had been put on our plate. The side dish, "a refreshing salad", consisted of leaves of lettuce brutally torn from a crop and drenched in vinegar. Nothing more, nothing less. The lack of effort and care put into these dishes is an insult to every decent, hardworking and paying consumer and - quite frankly - any chef as well. Sadly, the food which was put on our co-diners plates seems to confirm the above.Whilst I cannot upload the pictures as evidence, please take my word for it and avoid this place at all costs. Profit margins of - literally - 600% do not make a good restaurant.
MoreGood staff and great location. Decor is brilliant. Food very good and location works well for Cathedral
MoreVery good location, set menu was very generous in portion and quality was good. Dessert was excellent too, pity we were on a rush and didnt have time to have alcohol to complement the meal.
MoreVery nice service and a stylish, typical interior. Fancy without being over the top. Recommendable for a drink!
MoreIt wad very good and reasonably priced.
