Cafe del Angel - Puerto Rican restaurant in San Juan, Puerto Rico
Came here for lunch while in San Juan and had a really good experience. The food took me back to great meals my friends mom used to make when I was growing up. The only downer was the portion of maduros as seen in the picture. The drinks and food tasted great though. The portion given to me of my arroz con pollo was crazy! I was full and still took home half the plate. Great job.
Food and service were sooooo good. Our server Marissa was amazing!!
Nope. My frustration with the culinary experience in SJ continues. There just doesnt seem to be much pride in serving quality food to visitors along the main drag around the hotels. Dishes were served with large insect antennae that was actually deep fried spaghetti noodles. Not very visually appealing.
Cute place, local menu. I ordered mofongo which took nearly 30 minutes to come out and the restaurant wasnt near full. Unfortunately my food arrived tepid. Since I had waited so long and was hungry, I ate it and found it to be tasty. The server was fairly attentive and friendly. Disappointing experience.
Great staff. Mimosa was excellent. I ordered a breakfast omelette, but upon seeing the dish come out I immediately knew I wasnt going to eat it. However, maybe the lunch/dinner is better. Not what I was looking forward to as far as a decent breakfast. Would be open to trying a different dish based on the good service.
The food was nice had flavor compared to the other restaurants located near by.What made the experience more enjoyable was our waiter a young gentleman with a long ponytail(pulled up in a bun)he was very good at making us feel welcomed and checking to make sure we were all good.
Best french toast with nutella and fruit Ive ever had! Was so delicious and the waiters were so friendly. Very first place we went when arriving in puerto rico and felt very welcome. Would definitely go back!
Classic Puerto Rico food. Simple tasted, and the waiter is super polite. Ill be back for the fish.🥰🙏and they also have there own bars. If your looking to relax and drink. Prices is super reasonable.
I had the special which is the surf and turf Mofongo. I really didnt know what is was but after eating it I thought it was flavorful and delicious!!! My husband was equally as pleased. Cafe del Angel is a must when visiting San Juan!!
Decent place if you are a tourist. I came qith big expectations and hope being from NY that the food would be amazing. If you never had PR food then you might just love it but if you know PR food then I would choose another location.I will review the restaurants I visit. Ive been here twice and will not return. Service was very slow on both occasions. Was not inspired to take pics of any food.
The food the, the ambiance, and the staff were all amazing! The food was flavorful and mouthwatering, but most importantly the staff was personable, nice, and friendly. When I come back to Puerto Rico I have to come by here again!
Place could use an upgrade considering it’s rival restaurant Pannes seems to have renovated recently but you can’t complain about the amazing food they make. Great authentic Puerto Rican food and I’ll definitely be back in the future.
Food and drinks were soooooo good!! Staff very friendly and hospitable.
Excellent coffee and a really good breakfast at a very affordable price. Located right across from La Concha, this is a delicious choice for breakfast to start the day walking around Condado or before heading out to the beach.
This place is nice. It has a beautiful ambiance, it’s right in front of La Concha. Happy Hour ALL DAY! The servers are friendly, amicable and they prepare food and drinks with love. The energy in this whole place, the entire strip. Ashford Avenue, has a feel of freedom!
Easy access along the hotel zone. Great food. Reasonable price. Friendly people with awesome service. Beans were pretty good, creamy and without meat. Hot sauce is the fan favorite and unfortunately, they dont ship. One thing we noticed was 15% gratuity added in the bill before the actual tip.Check for propinados or something in the receipt. We liked the place and the food so ended up paying 15% more. But YMMV.
Very basic affordable, bland food served at a laid back place by a laid back team. I ordered a rum and coke, grouper with garlic sauce, arroz con gandules y tostones. Food was presented just fine as you can see from the photo. It wasnt very flavorful and the portions werent huge. Id skip this place for somewhere else next time as it wasnt anything very special.
me and my family were walking around looking for a spot to eat lunch at came across this place. we figured might as well get a quick bite to eat for lunch so we went in. at first it seemed ok then we ordered, and after that it took thirty minutes for our food to come out. we then asked for dessert which took about twenty more minutes and wasn’t even the right that we ordered. at this point i realized some people who came in after us got there food before we did and left before we could even order dessert. it also seemed like our server was high at this point. over all this this place was an awful experience and the food wasn’t even worth the almost hour and a half wait.
Wow! I was walking down the street and one of the staff was out dancing on the side walk. They just started talking to us and offered a Menu. We tried them out and WOW... the food was amazing! Customer Service was amazing! Mike was our server and he took amazing care of us! I would recommend you ask for him. I had the red snapper which was 🔥🔥 and my dad had the pancakes, eggs and bacon which was amazing! Fried plantains were so good!!! Everything was just good! Definitely stop by and try!
On vacation with my husband we visited this place multiple times for the delicious local food and excellent service. Debra is an absolute sweetheart and a total asset to the restaurant. Very genuine person. The rest of the staff, specifically, Jeriel, made our visits very pleasurable as well. Thank you for the amazing food and conversation! We will definitely be returning the next time were in PR!
Food is very good and reasonable price. Service is outstanding. Atmosphere is nice. It has an open seating area as well as an air conditioned part. I only had breakfast. I would recommend for breakfast.
Great food, drink happy hour prices, and great salsa.By the Atlantic beach,
TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT.I have visited this restaurant for many years. But today was an absolute disaster from the start. What was supposed to be a quick breakfast that turn into a over an hour. With a cold coffee and 25 min to get my breakfast. But the managers attitude and his unwillingness to make the already unsatisfactory situation better, made it worse. Making me wait for almost 16 minutes plus for my change. I felt totally ignored. He sure managed to ruin what could of been a good start of a day. With a background in customer service myself, in the worst of days would make someone have this kind of experience.I may sound harsh but i never give them my business.I will never recommend this place to anyone ever again.
Id give a zero star rating if I could. After sitting for 30 minutes waiting for my food, I asked where it was only to be told that the waiter never put in the order. Not only that, but he left the restaurant for half of the waiting time. We discussed for a couple of minutes what kind of mofongo I wanted so it wasnt like he didnt know. And the $10 drink the bartender concocted was worth half the price. Other people ordered and ate with no apparent complaints. Just my bad luck.
This place was terrible. The waiter was all enthusiastic, promising us a discount and “extra meat and shrimp” in our mofongo, enough to feed 2 people. An hour and a half later when our food FINALLY came out, that absolutely was not the case. Final order cost $93. Worst service. Had to talk to the owner to even get the check. Do not come here, it is a total waste of time and the food is subpar.
I love this place! The bartender is great and Michael who is part of the wait staff is Incredible 2! Weve been here twice and we just got here. The food is authentic and delicious. And its super close to everything on Ashford Avenue. The prices are extremely reasonable especially the drink specials too. You wont be disappointed.
Eating here this morning was my true Arrival in Puerto Rico. The covfefe was startling - robust and smooth and DELICIOUS. After the first cup my eyes were dilated and I was sweating slightly. I had two cups and I dont think that I would be considered street legal in the continental United States. I followed those with some roast pork which, again, was truly excellent. Ill be back!
The food here was so freaking good! The waiters were awesome! great food, great personalities just made the vibe perfect! I had the rice with chicken and a side of beans with platain... They also sang my son happy birthday! will recommend 1000 times! #Buen Provecho!
Our first introduction to Puerto Rican food and man was it GOOOOODDD! Our waiter was awesome too, very kind and informative about things to do on the island. We will be back. Check out our dishes, Monfongo con Pollo y Tostones con Pollo
Very good food and the works are very friendly
Great place. Reasonable prices. We had the arroz con pollo and it was fantastic. The serving size was huge, we were able to take half our lunch and eat it for dinner later. Fantastic.
Great food, and a lot of it. Fast service and friendly staff and cheap string drinks!
What great tasting food and service
Delicious Mofongo. Best Ive ever had. Definitely worth a return visit.
Nice place and tasty traditional puertorican food
Stuffed Red Snapper was delicious. Great drink specials, too. They make a tasty mojito.
Very good food and decent service. I highly recommend the mofongo churrasco.
I had a good experience here. Food was good - I had a mixed rice dish with shrimp and a few drinks. Server was attentive - though I did have to flag him down once to order another mojito. Like most places in San Juan, they add gratuity/service to the bill - but when you get your bill to sign it isnt obvious that its already included, so just keep that in mind.
I ordered Pollo with mixes rices. Plate came with beans ans plantains. The rice and chicken tasted like they were frozen and microwaved. Absolutely no flavor. $11.95. The small cup of beans was ALL juice I maybe got 5 beans out of it. The waiters were very nice and friendly but I would not recommend eating here.
service was great, waiter was polite, you may wait a while for your food, but it is amazing. I had the trifungo with shrimp, out of this world.... must try!!
Had a side of mofongo with a deep fried red snapper and salad on the side and it was good. The 3 leches cake was a 3 out of 10, good for a beginner but not for a 3 Leches cake connoisseur. One not so great thing was that the service was slow. The waiters were professional but they got each other too distracted.I would definitely give it another try.
The food and cocktails here were excellent and affordable. I ordered the mofongo with lobster and it was definitely one of the best Ive had. I love the casual, local atmosphere. Our table service couldve been a little better, but Id definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a little spot with great authentic food.
The food was authentic in flavors. And very healthy portions
I had their peurtorican combination dish and it was good. The portion was more than enough, good price, and staff was friendly and attentive.
Large servings of food. Excellent customer service. The bartender was so festive with glasses that had a Rudolph nose and antlers. He was also very attentive. They speak both English and Spanish at this establishment and the food is delicious. Happy hour is absolutely worth your time here.
The food was great. I had the monfongo with pernil, I would definitely recommend it. They have great drink specials. The drinks are nice and strong! The servers were very helpful and attentive.
Went is for some tapas. It was soo good! I dont even remember what everything was called I just took the servers suggestion
My mom and I came here for lunch one day while staying in Condado, and we kept talking about coming back. The service was slow, but everything was fresh and hot when it came out. We ordered the mofongo, as yelp recommended, and it was great. It was very salty, but I found that to be a theme at many restaurants we went to.All in all, this is a nice local-feeling inexpensive place along the strip of touristy hotels.
Online reviews said this was a great place to experience authentic and delicious cuisine. They were not wrong. The Mofungo was amazing, I had the vegetarian one, which was a flavor explosion; especially with their hot sauce. The local beer special is always $2 and a deal compared to a couple other surrounding competitors. It has a small indoor area under AC, a larger covered seating area thats opened to the street, and some tables outside along the street.I ate at the bar, and got to see the fun staff atmosphere and great interaction with customers. Several families came for dinner with their kids.
The service was good. I ate the beef mofongo and it was the most delicious food I had eaten all year, easily. My boyfriend had fried pork chops and they were equally amazing. HIGHLY & STRONGLY recommend. Please go eat here!
