Cafe de Penelope - Cafe in Beirut, Lebanon
Really loved discovering this place! I took the Risotto with "add chicken". Very very tasty! And good risottos are not always easy to find.Their white wine by glass is a good choice too.The Avocado salad very tasty too.Highly recommended
If you like to enjoy la cuisine francaise pass by Penelope, located in a calm district which you will not find easily with a good and comfortable ambiance, you can taste the Goat Cheese Salad and the Crab sandwich which I strongly recommend. Bon Appetit
Nice place to be ...The food is good ...For a change why not ...
An amazing place to dine and wine located on a very charming corner in Badaro. The staff is very friendly and attentive and the Manager welcomes you and makes you feel right at home the moment you walk in. The food and cocktails they do at this place are to die for (at least the ones i tried so far). Grab your friends and go for a night out at Penelope, you definitely wont regret it.
I visited Penelope for drinks. We loved the ambience, lighting and music. The service was good. The drinks and cocktails were very tasty. Will definitely visit this place again for lunch or dinner. In general it was a good experience
Relaxed atmosphere. Attentive staff. Quality drinks.
Excellent food though the non smoking area is not really separated from the the smoking area.
Very cozy.. fair prices.. salads are delicious.. friendly staff.
Small restaurant in badaro with good ambiance and tasty food.
Cozy, romantic and eclectic music with respectful team
Cafe Penelope is a famous cozy nicely decorated cafe and restaurant in Badaro. It is also a cozy meeting place and a lovely sitting area in the open air (covered in winter). Happy hours are between 5 and 7: only drinks are at 50% but not the accompanying amuse-bouches or the dips (the chanklish de chèvre is excellent). Staff is nice; so is the ambiance. Music is very discrete which is not the case for most other similar places.
I like the place cozy and friendly stuff. Respectful place and ambiance.
Really love this place that serves a vast array of food items at reasonable prices, optimal hygienic conditions , prompt and punctual service with the help of a very friendly and professional staff as well. Highly recommended experience.

Good food, lovely ambiance, option of outdoor and indoor seating, friendly staff and love the emergency kit in the bathroom.
Beautiful and cozy restopub in a calm street in badaro. Perfect food, drinks and setting
In he heart of Badaro, but far from the crowd. A nice setting of retro furniture. Daily menu and specialités are available that arent featured in the menu. Nice and delicious cocktails are served by a very friendly staff. You can benefit from Happy hour that starts from 4pm till 7pm
A charming place in a quite corner of Badaro. The food is very tasty, all the dishes I ordered were cooked well and the portions were adequate. The music is soft giving a nice vibe and the service is generally good and fast. I do recommend it to anyone looking for an enjoyable dining experience.
Very nice place with good choice of drinks and food ideal 4 couples to reconnect or a first date. Nice music and romantic layout.
Very nice, the food is good but the music is a little bit loud.
A very nice pub ideal for happy hour. Do not miss the amuses bouche with your drink
I think this is one of the best places in Beirut. The food is great, the service is very friendly and what we paid was really fair. Will definitely come again to try the lunch formula.
We went there on a Saturday night ... it has a Nice ambiance... attentive and friendly service .... I would recommend their cocktails it was super delicious... definitely coming back :)
I’m a regular customer of Cafe de Penelope and I honestly rarely find a place so consistent in the quality and freshness of it’s food, the professionalism of it’s staff and it’s beautiful and classy atmosphere. Love this place, the cocktails, the music, the mood and food...a 5 stars review well deserved.
Very fun place. Fusion food. Great atmosphere. Lovely management.
Feb 2019, 1*I love this place, food is good as well as service.I asked for a non-smoking area, we were asked to sit inside, but no measures are taken to seperate smoke coming fron outside. The general atmosphere was suffocating.Sorry guys. I love your place, but you will need to do some additional efforts for the non-smoking area.Stepping back from 3* to 1*Oct 2018, 3*Cozy place in Badaro Beirut. We were seated yesterday outside enjoying the beginning of the rainy season. I ordered a 4 fromagio pizza with a gniocchi, both were so good. The staff is nice and very friendly. What i enjoy most is the music. They have the best background music to enjoy any type of day meal.Recommended.
Excellent service, high class varied food menu, good prices. I’m coming back for more ...
Great place, tasty food, cosy, lovely music
Ive been to Cafe de Penelope twice, and although I dont remember what I ordered the first time, I still recalled it was good by expensive. My second visit was more recent, and the same impression remains. The food here is near excellent, even if not creative or original, but its quite expensive. Thats hip Badaros fault though, not the owners. We were here on a Sunday (limited menuand had these:- Guacamole and Salsa dips: tasty, spicy, relatively generous amounts with tortillas and toasted bread.- Caesar salad: Great. Generous portion too.- Chevre salad: Yum. Generous portion. The mix of goat cheese, sundried tomato, and figs is excellent, and the sauce works super well with everything.- Salmon sandwich: Okay. To be honest, I didnt feel the taste of either capers or endives, and the dill was barely there. I should have opened the sandwich to check, maybe I was mistaken. But regardless, they either werent there at all or were too sparse that they made no effect on the taste.- Mai Tai: Nice, generous serving.- Gin Basil: Good, but such a tiny tiny serving. A couple of sips and it was over. For the price, they should serve a larger amount.
The service was really slow they brought us two wrong orders after we had to go up to the waitress and ask where our food is and a can of 7up took 45 minutes to arrive. They also short changed us on the bill
The spicy labneh was good, the avocado salad was average
Food not bad but slowest service, tired waiter, incredible delays and each item ordered three times at least... Big disappointment. Will avoid from now on..
A very sophisticated restaurant, the vegetable quinoa salad was excellent, however the sandwich needs some more sauce in it. Staff are super friendly and a very calm restaurant ambiance, perfect for a romantic date.
Great ambiance and very good food
Great place! Cool outdoor seating with drinks and food! Superb atmosphere! I would add some live jazz band and it would be The Place ;!
Interesting food variety, decent service, great atmosphere.Food quality and taste is average.Planning a next visit soon for a more detailed review.
Nice atmosphere for a calm outing. Lightings are warm, and music is soft. The food is amazing, the menu includes gluten free meals. One less star because portions are a bit small .
Probably the best place in Badaro. Great and attentive service, rich selection of distinguished recipes and a great atmosphere overall. Whether for drinks & shared small dishes or for dinner the experience has always been impeccable.
The place is very good . The service too but rhe portions are small for an adult but still extreemly tasty
Peaceful atmosphere with delicious plates. The smoked trout is a must. You will enjoy the fusion between the acidic and the sweetness.
The perfect mood. People of all ages, with great snacks and a beautiful staff. Just watch when you sit when its cold. Those ceiling heaters can hit you bad in the face
Best place ever. From food, to drinks, ambiance, people, and waiters...
Very good food, nice atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is tapas style, many different selections in small size plates, ideal for sharing. Good wine selection. Friendly service. I especially love their salsa (so fresh).
The place has a great atmosphere, it s nice and cosy... The alcohol is really cheap but i mean really.... They have a good selection of Lebanese wines... The food is very good... the goat cheese salad is amazing.
I passed with my friend to grab a light dinner. First the interiors are so cozy and warm, great work on the decoration i loved the couches, the fire torches and the chalk board with the week special items. We tired the Penelope salad, a very generous portion of fresh ingredients, and the cheese platter also came in good portions, it was luckily accompanied by fig jam (very tasty we asked for another serving!), dried berries (least favorite), dried apricots and another jam which we couldnt decide whether it was quince or pumpkin but anyhow was tasteless. The bread was fresh too. However i have two points that:1- the servers are really nice but:- not available (understaffedwe had to wave several times to the bartender to send us a waiter and overall the service is slow- not well trained, for example they should bring our attention to the week specialties, we only checked them after we ordered2- the presentation of items is not as it should be: its good to toss for us the salad but when it is served it doesnt look yummy though it was very tasty, and the cheese platter can be better presented on a wooden board with a special knife, the lettuce has nothing to do in the platter and maybe the serving of the jam should be bigger.Anyway i would really comeback to try other items of the menu
I enjoy the different menu you find here, its not the usual that you get everywhere. The service is good. The food is really good. They have a pretty good selection of wine. My only small complaint is that the music is often too loud, especially if youre sitting inside. Its not a cheap evening but what you get for your money is quality.
This is a hidden gem in badaro. The coziness, the variety, the explosion of tastes and the charming ambiance, you simply cannot but fall in love with it. Highly recommended for lunch breaks.
Really cozy and classy place. The crew there is friendly and always welcoming. Food and drinks are really good.
The place has a lovely atmosphere across the different times of the day. The food is great and tastes fresh and the drinks are great too.
