Chain bistro for French classics from croque-monsieurs to mussels in a retro Parisian setting.
Lovely food, lively atmosphere, avoid during half term due to children and the noise gets too much.
A lovely situation and internal ambience. We found the service a little curt and there was a pronounced upselling of drinks - despite being there for breakfast!
The place was less than half full and there were 4 staff working, but it took forever to get menus, then another agree to place an order, so I decided to just have coffee and not order food. Getting the bill was also a painfully long experience, so I really cannot give any positives based on my experience.
Reigate , wow the best of the best, wot more can I say, my 1st time, and will be my future.
Very good large engish breakfast.
The waiter rudely demanded a tip and the French onion soup barely had any cheese
Great service but food is okay experience
Think the staff changes have caused a downturn. Shrapnel toast, no advertised black pudding, broken egg etc. worst ever from our local cafe Rouge!
We entered the restaurant and it was lovely untill we meet the only people who was serving everyone, one he tock our order for the drinks .. he wasnt interested into anything and you can tell he dont want to serve us very rude and not carrying , question for managers if you dont like job ? Why you keep people like this ??he was cooky and after we ask for the name of manager he said he its menager and he dont have to provide anything go look on the website, absolutely disgusting customer service, didnt want to serve us and the conversation was absolutely disgusting ! People stay away from this place as I never been in more careless place with so bad customer services ..If you dony like your job just change it instead of being rude to people ...
Have been here many times for breakfast and its always been lovely but this time wasnt great the scrambled eggs was like rubber like it has been cooked to long in the microwave and no taste the waiter was dripping in sweat and his shirt was wet which was very off putting
They dont answer the phone when you call to book and they say they dont when asked. So you turn up and the place is completely devoid of customers. The scallops starter I had was awful (burnt parmesan and swimming in butterbut the main course, chicken, was okay. Some of the wines werent available either.
Apparently only one chef, restaurant half empty (if not even lessand we waited 1.5 hours for our meals which arrived luke warm and over-cooked, the burgers were inedible! NEVER AGAIN!!
Positives - Waitress was attentive and professional.Negatives - Staff never answer the phone to take a booking.Half the wine list unavailable.Main menu, several dishes on the menu unavailable.
Food was awful! No wonder why the restaurant was empty on a Friday night! Service was okay however.
Good breakfast for the family. Very friendly staff .
A stop for coffee led to a look at the menu and booking a table. An enjoyable meal, a good French menu, a nice choice of drinks and an all round good experience.
Such a lovely experience, we enjoyed our poulet frites and delicious melt in the mouth duck. But most of all the staff were amazing, two lovely guys seem to be running the whole show alone and were really friendly and personable and clearly passionate about great service. They made it feel like a local independent place and not a chain. They were very apologetic about the earlier closing times as you need to have finished your meal by 9pm.
Afternoon tea was very nice however the sandwich choice was limited, as the vegetarian option was only Camembert. Cakes were delicious.
First visit in over two years. And with a 5 year old.Food was far better than we experienced last time. We were informed that they were short staffed in the kitchen and there was a wait. Tbf the wait wasnt that long.Service was great.Well done guys
Brunch was delicious. Coffee wasnt great though and service was poor.
Had lunch today, the restaurant was very quiet. I ordered croque monsieur with fries and a latte, the fries were hard and cold and the milk on the latte was still bubbing when brought to the table. I asked for the latte to be changed and the replaced latte was no better. Very disappointed. Cant imagine what they serve up when it is busy, if they cannot get it right when it was so quiet. Croque monsieur was ok a bit burnt around the edges.
Good food as always and a lovely, friendly and professional French waitress
Nice selection of food, good size portions but pricey. Quick service.
Had 2 courses off the set menu. Needed to get the bill corrected but the food and wine was good. The bonus is they have chairs and tables outside.
The service was not great and neither was the food. The waitress ignored us despite the restaurant being virtually empty for the entire time we were there. The eggs were overcooked and like rubber, bread was dry, pancakes flavourless and became effort to chew.£7 for the portion of fruit i recieved was commical. My pancakes already had fruit on them and I poured my separate purchase of fruit onto it to make it more substantial and bearable. When requesting water we got given dirty glasses and the water was warm. We then requested a larger glass if possible and were refused.Overall would not recommend for anyone to go here.
The food was good and the price reasonable. Staff welcoming and friendly. Floor was dirty but overall a good experience.
Been here twice now, for a two person visit and then 8 people visit, the staff were such kind people each time and very funny and helpful. I loved this place and would definitely go again. It can be seen as being a bit on the pricey side however it is well worth it for its quality.
Despite being completely empty, we were seated in a small table in a dingy part of the restaurant. After waiting 5 minutes whilst the duty manager chatted with a colleague we got up and left. The staff didnt acknowledge or care that we were walking out.
Great option for Reigate and easy to find as quite central. Indoor and outdoor dining available so dogs catered for too. Service has been good every time Ive visited, cleanliness of restaurant is good although mens loos not as good. A good safe bet overall.
Service was not great. Orders taken in reasonable time and staff seemed friendly but after that it was not good. We needed more drinks and all glasses were empty, member of staff came to clean starter plates but left one, and rushed away before we could ask for more drinks (server should have noticed all three drinks empty anyway). Had to wait a further 30 minutes before getting anyones attention and that was only when our mains were brought after being in the restaurant over an hour. There were only 5 tables in use at the restaurant but we were on the lower floor and everyone else upstairs so it was like we were forgotten. 3 members of staff on the floor so unsure why service was so bad. When the mains were brought we also had no cutlery so had to ask for that too. Our mains were not great, some vegetables undercooked, some cooked okay, meal wasnt too hot but acceptable I guess, quite bland and unfortunately I had started to feel unwell after my starter and felt like I was forcing my main down. To top it off we tried to use a gift card which apparently wasnt working... So we had to pay the bill in full for a meal we wasnt impressed by. We only travelled here to use our gift card and we are not local so it was out of our way. Will not return and will be contacting the gift card company to check the card as it has not been used at all yet and should have a fair amount on.
I visit Reigate as my best mate lives down this way, however each time we deliberate where to eat, I force us to go to Cafe Rouge. Why? Well, its never been overly busy, the management are friendly and have always been helpful when we have the kids with us...they provide crayons and pictures and puzzles to keep them occupied. The atmosphere is always chilled and decent background music so conversation is easy to have. Seating at the tables are fairly spacious but not huge but thats not what I worry about...... I worry about the quality of food...and this is where I have to say that the Mussel Pot is absolutely FANTASTIC. Ive not eaten anything else on this menu...and I dont have any reason to... so if youre keen on a good old traditional Mussel Pot ... this is a winner... and it costs just under 15 quid.
Arrived and sat down. Not busy, only about 4 people in the place. After 10 minutes of waiting I decided to go and find someone. When I eventually got served, the food was adequate. Cafe Rouge is a brand and you get what comes with the brand. It is slightly overpriced for what it is but it sufficed for waht I needed on this occasion. It is OK but certainly not French.
Service, food and atmosphere are moderate at best. Prices are taken from some better place. A glass of a packed juice drink should not cost £3.25, not with this service and in this interior. Extra bread - two slices - costs extra.Never again.
Made very welcome by the staff and given a choice of seating. Fairly quiet at 6.30 when we arrived but filled up around 7.00. Tables well spaced and sanitised. Efficient service and good choice on menu. Sadly the only one left in Surrey, but luckily only 8 miles from home. Will be going again.
Internet vs reality 😅What a waste of money!
Great dinning here and the quality of food is very good and we enjoyed the dishes with great pleasure and cannot wait to come back again 🤗
Had a delicious meal with relatives. Relaxed atmosphere, many customers outside as pleasantly warm evening, we chose to dine indoors. We all chose different meals, chicken, duck & salmon respectively. Unanimously agreed that each dish was excellently cooked and thoroughly enjoyed. Very friendly and attentive waiter, who readily checked with Chef regarding food allergies. Definitely recommend this restaurant if visiting Reigate.
Lovely food, restaurant. However Service very slow. Manager not a people person. Manger lady Very aggressive, not pleasant. Also spoke to my mother who is a bit deaf like she was sub-normal. They had mess up the bill and tryed to fob us off. Which was sorted out but with lots of huffing and eye rolling .Would return to the chain just not to the reigate one
Good service, comfortable setting just off the street, food was very good, decent range of menu and drink options. Restaurant has a high end feel to it. Was able to use tastecard for a 2 for 1 deal as we visited during the week, so worked out very affordable.
Myself and my other half went here for some dinner on a Sunday eveningThere was 4 people in the restaurant. We could see 5 members of staff, 3 at the bar just talking to each other and 2 standing around, chatting as well whilst we waiting for a few minutes. The staff could see we was waiting at the entrance and did nothing. We had to loudly say "Hello?" then a minute later a member of staff finally came over and asked us what we would like.A nice table outside with food is not hard to ask especially if the restaurant is not busy at all. After finally getting seated, we got told half the food on the specials, set menu (which i wantedand the main menu was not available. After 10 minutes of waiting for someone to come over and take our drink order. We had enough and went to Bills down the road which was actually cheaper, nicer, they had everything on their menu and we got greeted and seated within a minute.Tempted not to return here for a while so they can sort out staff attitudes and common sense.
Excellent resteraunt. Even though this chain has the same menu, we found the food to be far better in this. Less buttery, salty and bread of better quality.
Had a lovely meal at this venue as a birthday treat for a daughter. Everything was as one would expect during the pandemic, masks on, scan in, sanitizer, escorted to table. The restaurant was quite quiet as it was nearing 2pm. Promptly served with our drinks, then time to peruse menu. Selected main courses what we needed for my party of 4 except that the main steak dish was not available. Service was very quick and the food very tasty. Moved on in a timely fashion for dessert which again was amazingly tasty. Paid in a timely manner with cashless payment. Also used a Restaurant Card as part payment. Quite expensive but excellent quality.
Cafe Rouge is one of my favourite restaurants of all time, and is my favourite place to go for brunch. The staff are always so friendly which gives it its lovely atmosphere. I have never had a bad meal here, the food is delicious and is decently priced. Would 100% recommend to anybody.
I bought a gift voucher to share with my partner of an afternoon tea. Upon arrival we were greeted reluctantly with "you have not booked" (even though we hadand do you have your code etc etc. This did not make our experience easy. The waiter appeared to be a little put out that we wanted to sit outside bearing in mind there was only 1 couple and he had to clear a table for us. We enjoyed the savoury element of the tea even though there was no choice of sandwiches apart from ham or brie. The sweet part of the tea was hugely disappointing, we felt it lacked the hand crafted feel. Sadly, I would no recommend this experience.
Love Cafe Rouge. Great environment and amazing little resturant. Venue is really cool. We had a voucher as a present so had a set menu which was really good. The staff are very professional. Love sitting by window and watching world pass by. We have some starters, mains and desert. Also cheeky little Irish coffee. We didnt have one by the afternoon tea looks amazing..@Saffa_foodie
My favourite tuna nicoise salad. Generous portion and full of goodness.
Not all Café Rouge are equal. The food is not necesseraly my type of food but we went for "high tea" and it was delicious and the service was excellent. Really enjoyed it and will go back. May even try their diner menu.
Went for dessert. Eton mess 5/5 (my first one!), hot chocolate 5/5. Ok atmosphere (it was a quiet day), staff friendly enough, food came quickly. Being able to pay took a while.
Spent a lovely Sunday afternoon here, it was today in fact! I received a red letter day voucher and so I spent it on afternoon tea with prosecco at Cafe rouge, reigate. Food was good looking, of quality and taste and was good portions. Staff were friendly and helpful and always at our disposal. Had a few cocktails as well here. Would highly recommend to the French food lover and everybody else of course. Will attend again for sure.
Went for afternoon tea, food was nice but service was pretty poor, ignored most of the time we were there. If we had paid full price would have left very disappointed.
