Café Omo Äthiopisches Restaurant - Ethiopian restaurant in Muenchen, Germany
Excellent Ethiopian with affordable prices, attractive decor, plenty of vegetarian options.
Absolutely delicious Ethiopian food with really big portion sizes! Would highly recommend going on an empty stomach with a big group as the big platters have enough food to share between 4 people approximately. We had a non-vegetarian platter shared between 4 people and every item was cooked to perfection and just heavenly! Even after sharing, some food was leftover which the staff happily agreed to pack for us and take home!Drinks are a little pricey, nonetheless, a must visit if youre in Munich!
Pretty good food and experience. It only took too long to get the food. But is definitely worth it. The Dju Dju Mango beer is awesome.
Its the best resturant in town.the stuff was super friendly and gave us alot of insight about München as well.we ordered veggie plus dorowet and meat curry.it is the best i have tasted in Germany.the owner gave us free injera and drinks.i am definately going back when ever i am in München.
This is one of my favorite places in Munich. They are so nice, and the food is amazing.
I’ve been only once to a Ethiopian restaurant before and I must say this time was even better! It’s real Ethiopian food, really delicious. I’d recommend going as a group and order the big plate which comes with a little bit of everything. If you run out of the injera you can simply ask and they will gladly provide you with more. Staff is very kind! They perform the original coffee ritual which is definitely worth experiencing (and I don’t even drink coffee)It’s also recommended to go on a Friday evening as they make 100% original injera (the cost of using the actual flour is very high hence only Friday’s they prepare it).Don’t leave food on your plate, it’s considered rude, so eat up!
Nice people, great food especially if you are looking for vegan food.
It was such an interesting experience. We had a mix plate. The tastes are really nice. Price is fair. Definitely try again.
Cosy environment, friendly owner and as always, Ethiopian food is one of my favourite and it was delicious. Definitely again.Thank you!
It was my first experience with Ethopoeia food. In every dish they use a vinaigrette substance which I didn’t like at all. That’s why I couldn’t differentiate the taste of different food. Every food tasted same. Overall it wasn’t a pleasant experience.
Delicious food, fun to eat in a group. The owner is really cool. Weve been ordering and dining-in here for the last two years and its become a minor addiction for us to have Ethiopian every few weeks :Can highly recommend
Great ambient - great food - top experience!
Had dinner last week. Mo and his wife were great hosts. Having tried other Ethiopian restaurants in Munich, Cafe Omo takes top spot for me for tasty dishes (tried all veg, lamb, and tej), nice decor, and friendly host. I will be back!
Amazing food! And such a nice experience to share food all together. Great flavors and really friendly staff who will help you pick dishes if you are unsure or unfamiliar with Ethiopian food. The mango beer is something to definitely try!
We had a great experience at this place! The staff is very helpful and kind, especially to those trying Ethiopian cusine for the first time. The dish we shared was delicious. Another bonus are the many vegan and vegetarian options they offer. Would absolutely recommend Café Omo to anyone that would like to get to know or enjoys Ethiopian dishes.
Delicious Ethiopian food. It was affordable and had many different options. Its a great food to share with others. You get unlimited injera bread which is bomb! The staff was really friendly and attentive and speak perfect English. There is outdoor seating so thats what we did since the weather was so nice.
Delicious and traditional! There are dishes for everyone, veggie, vegan and also meat stews. A nice culinary experience. If you would like to have buna, order from the beginning on because they roast the coffee beans on site.
Been to the Café for the first time this Tuesday to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday with friends. It was our first time trying Ethiopian food, and it couldn’t have been better. The waiters were absolutely attentive, the food was very tasty. The ambience and the way food is served and eaten make it a whole experience. There where different vegan options and as LGBT+ people, we felt very welcome. The House is hygienically well prepared and tables are positioned in a distance from each other.
A very different kind of experience. The food comes interestingly on a single platter for everyone to share from the same plate. And please use your hands and not a knife or fork. The bread is also very different and tastes very good with the other flavours. The coffee experience is also a spectacle and suggest to have that too after you are done eating.
It was my first ever Ethiopian cuisine, and I am delightfully impressed! Great service, great food, and great ambience. I recommend to everyone who hasn’t tried Ethiopian food in their lives!
Very nice place, good food and the service is amazing. Highly recommend
Very good food, nice service and amazing beer!!!
My husband and I decided to go to an Ethiopian. We looked at different options and chose this one because of the review and location. We didn’t make a reservation but the man kindly offered us a spot for 1:30 till the next group came. So ideally make a reservation it gets full. And with good reason.yes the food is very nice, the service also, friendly, helpful, and English speaking. I would NOT recommend the vorspiesen ( entree for 2 or more peoplehonestly it was little food for a lot of money. The main dishes on the other hand were absolutely delicious, include huge amounts of a delicious sour dough pancake/ tortilla/ bread and are served in a shared dish to be eaten with your hands, so delicious and an experience! Definitely recommended !
Terrible injera. Cold, tastes totally wrong, not springy. Mediocre stews, perhaps made more bland to appeal to German palates?
I havent been in many Ethiopian restaurants, probably just a couple, but as a non experience person I really enjoyed it. Tasty food, nice environment and excellent service.
Very friendly staff and really good food!We will definitely come again.
Authentic and tasty food, very friendly service, great ethiophic coffee
Good food but a little expensive. Must try beers and honey wine. You get authentic Ethiopian dishes and there are a lot of varieties. Cuisine is somewhat close to indian cuisine. They also have very good vegan options. The staff is friendly and helps you choose a nice beverage/food item if you are new. Some nice collection of Ethiopian music in the background and generally well decorated place. Colorful ambience and fancy furniture :)
I enjoyed the mixed entree for two with a friend, but in my opinion the best part was fried triangles (I do not remember the name). Then the main dish taste was pretty good I think I tried the same dish with different type of meats, both of them were great. The service was good as well. Overall, is a nice place to try the Ethiopian food
We ordered very simple food and we had to wait very long time to get it. Food was served in a special way that we really liked. Vegetable dish was very tasty. Beef was tasteless. At the end we could not pay with the card even said so. We collected the money, also some coins but we were told coins are no money. We were very disappointed by such attitude.
Restaurant worth visiting in Munich which tickles your taste buds with culinary delights.Excellent and Friendly service. Value for Money.
I really enjoyed the first time I’ve been there. A great variety of vegetarian food to share. We got to talk to out very friendly waiter and had a great night. This is why I went a second time which wasn’t that good though. We did not feel very welcomed, the waitress seemed annoyed as we asked a couple of times for more bread to eat aside with
Good ethiopian food. Beer in a bowl was new to me.
Food is good, staff too. Also a total delight for Indian food-lovers! Can be a little pressure on your pocket, but you wont regret.
Honestly one of the most tasty Ethiopian food I ever had. I’m a big fan, I eat a lot Ethiopian since is easy being vegan. We stopped by on a road trip, and we were sad it was closed at the time we passed back in Munich.Definitely my go place when I’m in Munich.
A touch of home away from home. Great food. The music too sets the mood. You should try the Tej wine. Great service and efficient staff. Highly recommended.
Food is great. The serving time is very long. Not the most friendly staff.
Good service, nice ambience and tasty food. The interesting this is that guest got to share the dish. You get a single big plate served and you share meal from single plate ( I think upto 5 guests can share a single plate.:)It interesting experience. Food is tasty. Local food is served . Also the way ju ju bier is served is also interesting.. :)You basically have sour pancakes served with every dish that you order .. no cutlery.. u have to eat with hands..but its worth to try this place :)
Very delicous food, a lot of vegan and vegetarian options available
The food wasnt tasty. The servers werent so friendly and werent even available to provide bread or whatever we needed, they dont provide cutlery 🍴 and not even hand towel. We had a reservation but we waited around 12 minutes to get a place without even a "sorry " or excuse. Conclusion: yes we discovered a new kind of food but well never come back again.
One of the most incredible restaurant Ive ever tried. Perfect, the food is good, the service too and the atmosphere is great.
Really tasty food and friendly staff. Be sure to order for the traditional coffee at the beginning of your meal.
Friendly staff and tasty Ethiopian food. I was introduced to this place by my Ethiopian friends and they confirmed that food is authentic Ethiopian. Prices are reasonable.
We have really enjoyed the vegetarian dish for 2 persons as its prepared in a way that you will taste 6 different types of Ethiopian meals. The Staff was very friendly and the possibility to sit outside was also great thanks to the nice weather.
Below average food but good service. Tables are uncomfortable and the ambience is average. People come here for the novelty factor.
I love to travel the world and see how people treat differently to ethiopian food. my next stop was cafe omo. of course i followed recomendations very thoroughly and decided to go. the hospitality was very pleasant, and the service was very fine. it was about 05:00 pm, and just me and 2 couples were at the restaurant. the atmosphere was good since they played soft and relaxing ethiopian music, and then the food started to be served. first came the injera with a spicy beef meat sauce. then a glass of beer showed up very quickly and finally they came with a briliant ethiopian coffee accompanied by a short tradition ceremony. one tiny little thing was bothering me, the injera was not made out of teff flour. but the bottom line is... go go go!
Dont believe the hate that is being spread here! This place offers delicious, freshly made dishes in a nice and comfortable place! The owners are very friendly and the amount of time until the meals are being served are both announced when ordering and absolutely no problem when you consider how a-la-minute your very food is being cooked. An absolute must-visit when in Munich - a place to stay and share food with friends!
One of the best Ethiopian Restaurant i ever vistit. They have realy fresh and good tasing food, and u can eat it on a messob (traditonal ethiopien tabel)Thank u for a realy nice evening.I`ll visit u anytime when i am in munich.
Terrible Place - Food takes forever to be served, without apology - overpriced for the miniscule portions. Very ordinary quality. Not recommended.
Terrible - avoid at all costs. We ordered a meal for two with just one dish. We are still waiting after one hour and twenty minutes to eat. There are only two tables full other than us. Absolutely minus stars.
