Cafe Old Vienna in Myrtle Beach

Stopped here Wed Oct 8th at 6pm.Place was very busy with many patrons having reservations. We did not have a reservation but got seated quickly.Food was excellent! Our server was extremely busy but attentive.Save room for dessert.

This was my second time coming and it wont be my last. I definitely recommend it the food was almost as good as my wifes Omas cooking.

We stayed in Myrtle Beach for a good 7 days and were sorely disappointed in the food, thinking that we were going to end up leaving our vacation without even one excellent meal, we decided to give Cafe Old Vienna a shot. The wait was 30 minutes because we did not make reservations, but we were invited to sit at the bar, so we did. We ordered our food, the fish and veggies for the kiddo (thank you for not just having Mac and Cheese), and good hearty meals for the wide and me. The food room a bit because they were BUSY, but it was well within reason. The staff was attentive, friendly, and honestly every other place in town needs to use their service as a model to learn from. Great service, awesome really.The red cabbage was the best I have ever had, the pork was tender and falling off the bone - just perfect. My wifes schnitzel was delicious. Even our 5 year old ate the fish and veggies that were fresh and tasty without complaint. The wine selection was wide and I chose a sweet white that was brilliant, well poured and presented.I really wish this place was in Arizona so we could come more frequently, but I can assure you when we come back to Myrtle Beach, we will eat here again!The also let our daughter have a bit of a dance to the accordion in her princess outfit, so it was a great experience.By the way, the bananas foster is melt in your mouth wonderful. Also, get a reservation, and come HUNGRY.THANKS!

Back again October 2022 and everything is good "BUT" Roasted potatoes were a bit hard and Schnitzel was a bit thin and dry...guys please watch that. Angle was our server and did a super job.Visited again April 2022 and busy as always. First suggest you make reservations. Service is great as is the food.Here is my original review: Oh do we love this place. Right on Business 17 in the heart of Myrtle Beach. So many great dishes. Ghoulish is fantastic as are all the Snitizle dinners. Plates come full and we often bring stuff home. Deserts are good size with many offerings. Try the home fried potatoes with your meals and if you like beer 🍺 order the sample rack of 6-8 choices.

What a great place. Food was excellent, service was outstanding and the vibe of the place was real authentic towards German/Austrian foods. Prices are fair and worth it. Make a reservation for sure.

My family wanted to try German cuisine and this place had good reviews so we have it a chance and Im so happy we did! The staff was amazing, the food was great, the atmosphere was wonderful! We ate outside, had drinks, and had the Creme Brule Cheesecake for dessert. Everything was delicious and we will definitely be going again.

Staff has hustle. The food was great and had good flavor. But I have to say when you hear people talk about tips and wanting money: the staff here earns it. From the hostess to the wait staff who were bouncing around helping each other. We were there later in the evening and they were all smiles and welcoming.We enjoyed the entire experience.

Excellent food a d service, one of our favorite restaurants. The deserts are out of this world.

Visited on 09/03/2022.I had the veal schnitzel w/red cabbage, cranberry sauce, and veggies side, everything was really good. I gave it a 5 star but be aware that the schnitzel size does not compare in size to the Wien standards, the portion is a little smaller. But my taste buds felt like being back in Vienna.The wife had the chicken schnitzel w/potatoes and sauerkraut-also very good. She also had their apple strudel (a la mode). I tried it and it was very good too. Surprisingly less sugary than expected.I tried one one of their specialty coffees with a personal modification request (no sugar, and whipping cream substituted with heavy whipping creamwhich they accommodated. Quite an additional experience to this coffee connoisseur "want to be" .The place was very clean, although I did not have a need to visit their restroom, therefore this comment excludes the restroom possible condition. The ambiance was quiet but I visited them for lunch. Noted they have a live music staged area but I am not aware of when is the music.I will rate the staff service as outstanding and friendly. Our waitress was attentive to the table needs and accommodated my dietary needs very well. Most of the staff were also dressed in Austrian/German costumes or traditional clothing contributing to the experience.If you like their type of food you must go if visiting Myrtle Beach area.

Loved this place! Went with a large group on a Saturday evening and they were able to seat us. The accordion player was entertaining. I got the traditional veal schnitzel and it was delicious. The potato salad brought back memories of my German grandparents. The only thing that threw me was the sauerkraut. I think it had peppercorns in it, which I wasnt a fan of. 100% coming back with my family.

We sat in the Biergarten because we didnt know we needed reservations. We had a wonderful time and the food was amazing! The wait staff was very attentive and dressed in period clothing. Just fabulous from start to finish.

Wow. This is the most authentic German food Ive ever had. Everything from the food, the servers, the decor, and accordian player make you feel like youre in Germany. And the food is so good. Try the sauerbraten its amazing! Great food. Great service. Call for a reservation.

Our family has been here a couple times and the food is consistent and good.The good: excellent portions, consistent food, good quality, large tables for families, good beer.The so-so: tables are a little close for my taste, weird art on the walls, live music was weird and way too loud. (guy on an accordion who played the American national anthem at one point. lol)I mean... Its a European themed restaurant in Myrtle Beach, SC... You know what to expect and its worth a go.

Excellent beer, great food, just get there early as they’re not open late!

Loved the authentic food. Very delicious. Some nights have live music which was a major bonus to our visit. Definitely will return.

Check operation times on line and call ahead with your reservation. They have a popular happy hour 4- 7 with a variety of domestic and imported beers with a fun snack/munchies menu. From sausage bites to schnitzel bites. Dinner menu was difficult to choose as everything sounded so yummy. Schnitzel, so many different ways, sausages many kinds with sides of your choosing. There are also entres that have all your choices made for you in perfect combinations. Leave a little room for dessert. We ordered the streusel. Apples, raisins and cinnamon wrapped in a full dough. We sat ouside, under a canopy but the place to be was inside! Our waitress, very pleasant, forgot about us a couple of times. She was too occupied inside, I guess. Food is authentic and delicious. Lecker!

Cozy little place.Good: Ive been to Germany few times and for me its easy to to tell that Chef has definitely have knowledge of authentic food. Either native German or learned from a German. Yes, that good. I dont mind paying a buck or two more for proper food. Also, not so big selection of German beers provided but those which they have, those are sufficient as they obviously knew which are the good ones.There is even live music, one guy on accordion, not to loud, pretty nice.The bad: all waiter staff is Filipino. I do not mind that at all, dont get me wrong please. What I DO mind is someone yelling near my ear in Tagalog while Im trying to grab a bite at the bar with my girl and you know sometimes someone may understand a word of two, especially when theyre insulting other customers (which were about to leaveabout bad tipping. Thats something no customer do not wanna hear - badmouthing them. That is only reason why 4 stars, otherwise it would be 5.

Having had the opportunity to travel and try real German food. We can say that this place is a gem. We visited it for the first time yesterday. The food was excellent and the potato pancakes to die for. The waitress was amazing (sorry we dont remember her name but she said she is from Jamaica), always attentive to our needs. The authentic German apple struddel a trip to heaven. We recommend it 100%.

Was told up front that the kitchen was backed up, which is fine. However. In the 2 hours that I sat there we only saw the waitress 4 times. Sat with empty glasses for 15-20 minutes, multiple times. Bread and beer were good, when I finally got them. Food was mehh, veal was not tender, sausages were decent. Not to the quality of being 20+$ a meal. When the food was dropped off, the waitress turned and left without saying a word. Didnt see her again for 30 minutes until she brought the check. Overall some of the worst service I have ever had.

I’m trying hard to contain my anger and disappointment.I travel to Myrtle Beach several times a year; sometimes for pleasure, and other times, for vacation. I’ve passed this restaurant several times, and have always wanted to try it, but was never able to.Today, I finally had the chance. Unfortunately, this restaurant will *not* seat single patrons at a regular table. Rather, one is forced to sit at the bar, or outdoors - neither of which are acceptable to me, as I cannot sit on a high stool due to a leg injury, nor do I wish to eat right next to a stranger, or outdoors in heat and humidity.The only other option, it seemed, was to order my food to go. Which was rather insulting. I placed the order, and went to sit in my car. And then I thought about it. Apparently, my money wasn’t good enough to allow me to sit at a table, and enjoy a quiet meal (note: please don’t try and tell me that the place was crowded, as there were many open tables).So, I left.I went to another restaurant, which gladly let me sit indoors, at a regular table, like a civilized human being.I’m sure the food here is great. But I felt discriminated against. Not every solo diner wants to sit at the bar, or outdoors. I suggest you reconsider your seating policies.Until then, I have absolutely no intentions of returning. And I’m sure you’re fine with that.

Dinner with the wife and my son last night! Great service and wonderful German Food. Will make this a favorite dinner place. Many different dishes that I must try. Love the many German beers that they have, recommend the Sampler Board of 6 beers!!!

Amazing food, fun atmosphere and very friendly staff! I enjoyed the pork shank with red cabbage (best Ive ever hadand spaezle. We enjoyed eating in their patio, and the live music was excellent! With the ability to make reservations (by phone), we will definitely be returning here often!

We had the grilled Pork Shank dinner for 2 which was delicious and our heavily German accented waiter was absolutely wonderful with great service and smile!

Food was good. Bratwursts we’re excellent.

This was an amazing experience! The waitress was very friendly and attentive. They gave appetizer salads and a lot of bread too. We all enjoyed our entrees especially the sauerkraut!! In addition to the food, they had a live entertainer playing polka music on the accordion. The main demographic in the restaurant was not young people, but if you’re in college and reading this get a great dinner with live music!!!

Everything we had was so delicious! The wait staff were very attentive. They had their own gluten free menu, which is rare! So good.

Always excellent Austrian foodThe bread is perfection, hot crispy outside soft tender inside. Were tried all the offerings... delicious! Nellie at the bar is outstanding and fast! We had the pork cordon blue and sausage sampler. It could not have been better. The dessert offerings are perfection... leave room for dessert! Live music too, its no wonder reservations are needed.

If youre into pork meat, then Cafe Old Vienna is the restaurant. The menu is 90% pork base and most of the dishes sweet.

Ive got three words for this place"amazing, amazing, amazing"The Cafe Old Vienna checked all the boxes,food was excellent, plating superior, quality, quantity and originality beyond compare. Our server was Angel, her named matched her personality perfectly. She was welcoming and made our visit all the more memorable. We started with a perogie appetizer cooked perfectly covered with smoked bacon, delicious sauteed onions & a side of sour cream. We enjoyed two entrees the wienerschnitzel and stuffed cabbage both of which took me back to my days in Landstuhl Germany. We closed out our meal by splitting a slice of decadent German chocolate cake surrounded by pickled fruit, fresh cream & drizzled with chocolate.... it was as good as you would expect to follow such a culinary experience. Dont forget for your entertainment they have authentic accordion bands every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. Did I mention the beer, no I didnt but I will tell you they have a variety of beer flights and original German beer flavors for you to try. If you have the opportunity while youre visiting Myrtle Beach.......please I implore you to stop at this wonderfully old world style restaurant.

This is an authentic German establishment. The food is very German. My wife loves this place mostly because of the Chicken Cordon Blue! I am big fan of the German Larger on tap and the Don Juan coffee. I am not a big fan of the food but that is because I am not big on German food. If you are, you will like the food. The place is a pretty dated for my taste, definitely not a contemporary atmosphere. The service is very good and the restaurant is well managed. When you see management on the floor you know they are putting more effort into customer service. Reservations would be easier if they would get on Open Table. Overall its a place I definitely recommend especially for adults. I give it four stars because its dated for my taste and I am not a big fan of German food. I recommend you try it and see how you like it. If you are from out of town its a unique experience not you regular national chain experience.

The most amazing German food ! It was not the first time we have been there... But it just gets better every time we are there! Homemade fresh and delicious food! Large portions. Friendly staff, always!Thank you for the Birthday wishes for my boyfriend! You made his day very special!!

Serge was an awesome waiter from Serbia. The food was excellent as always and still takes me back to my time overseas. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in town.

Delicious bratwurst ..very good environment and very good staff. good desserts. Also a decent collection of German and Austrian beers. Every time I visit Myrtle I will stop by here for sure.

Great schnitzel and spatzle with mushroom gravy, side of sweet red cabbage. My wife tried the stuffed cabbage and potato dumplings and they were amazing as well. The desserts were very tempting but we were too full.

First time visitors to Cafe and we were so happy! We reserved our tables in advance, I suggest you do the same, very busy in this local restaurant. My husband has a love of German food and this is authentic as it gets! We went during Oktoberfest and shared the 2 person platter. Plenty of sausage and sides for us both. I loved the potato dumplings with gravy (which is Austrian, just like the ownerand the cabbage sides were perfect. I really enjoyed my cup of goulash prior to the meal, very flavorful and spiced perfectly. The dinner came with complimentary salad with house dressing and breads. My husband enjoyed his liter of German beer with his meal! We got our desserts to go-as we were to full after the meal.

What an experience! Great, knowledge service. The server helped with food recommendations, especially for gluten-free food. They are busy so definitely make a reservation. We lucked out because we went early. Theres outdoor seating. Get the mousse, youll thank me later.

I had the Oktoberfest special with 3 sausages and red cabbage with potatoes. I also ordered a Paulaner Munich beer off the Oktoberfest menu. Everything was perfect! We sat outside because the weather was nice, but unfortunately someone was smoking near us. I had the German chocolate cake for dessert, which comes in a huge portion. I got coffee with it, too, and it reminded me of the coffee that I had in Graz. Parking can be challenging here if you come during dinner hours.

We tried the Octoberfest platter for 2 and it was a nice dish! Great to experience. The bratwurst was amazing - truly the best Ive ever had. The sauerkraut was delicious and the soft pretzels melt in your mouth. We tried the pork belly and it was super tender too. Would definitely return and have another brat or two, yum!Biggest advice is to reserve a table in advance. We showed up early and lucked out on a table but from what I could gather the place is quite popular and many tables were reserved already.

A real German feast! There were 8 of us and we each got something different, including dessert. Chelsea was our server and she was fantastic! She was there whenever we needed her and was so on top of things. Expect a wait. We got there at 6:10 and there were already people.waitong, good thing we had a reservation, which I highly recommend. Now to the food! It was very good. Our exchange student from The Netherlands said it was authentic and reminded her of her trips to Germany. The portions were very large and I shared with my daughter because dessert pre-planned! We did have the pretzels and potato cakes as apps and those were good. Who doesnt love a good, warm pretzel! The desserts were so good! A great variety and again large portion. We will not need to eat for a few days. So, if you are looking for something different, definitely try this place.

My wife and I love german food. Its always nice to have a good meal. Call ahead and make reservations. The food is awesome. Make sure to get a beer sampler. Dont skip desert. The banana fosters is never a mistake.

Food was good. Got seated quickly..only down fall was closer to closing time bus girls kept taking empty dishes off table as u were done with them reaching across in front of others eating, but never asked if done with anything just grabbing. Then to top it off took my daughters plate right out from her as she was Still eating her meal..she was literally between bites and they just grabbed her plate.. Taking drinks away that we were drinking...Then it was 9pm closing time we were finishing dessert same thing happened...said something and no one cared...for the price I am paying to eat there service could have been much better...I would highly suggest the banana foster cake for dessert...best part of visit.

Food was delicious, everyone enjoyed their meals. Potato pancakes were not very good. They were made correctly, just had zero flavor. Chef must have forgotten to season, I have heard via reviews that they were good.

First I just want to say we LOVED THIS PLACE. We had a large group of 10 and came in just under an hour before they close. We all loved the atmosphere, the live music, the entire restaurant just felt amazing. The food we had was great and service was great too. We will definitely be back the next time we come to Myrtle Beach. For most of our group this was also our introduction to German-Austrian food.

Dinner here is what heaven must be like. We couldnt decide what to have, it all sounded so good, so we ordered several dishes and shared. The staff were happy to accommodate us and brought extra plates and were diligent in removing the empty ones as we finished so that our table never felt overcrowded. We started with the Potato Pancakes (be sure to try the with the apple sauceand the escargot with bread and butter. Yum! The escargot ranked in my top two ever (my six year old enjoyed them too!). The potato pancakes were such a delightful surprise that I wish there had been more. My son ordered the Kids Knackwurst. As he never eats much, except for desserts, I was fortunate enough to finish it for him. The sausage was so full of flavor and perfectly cooked. His spatzle, thick noodles, was very tasty with the gravy provided. For our dinner we shared the German Feast Single, Sauerbraten, Viennese Kettle Gulasch. Every single dish was a treat. My wife, my daughter, and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves working our way through the bratwurst, knackwurst, weiner-schnitzel, red cabbage, and spatzle of the feast. We loved the tenderness and flavor of the sauerbraten. And the robust spice, not spicy, of the gulasch was a flavorful, though sad, end to our meal. After dinner we had the same distress in choosing a dessert that we felt in choosing a dinner. Since the plan worked so well with dinner, we ordered several and shared. We started with the Vienna Crepes with Apricot filling, then ate the Apple Strudel, next we devoured the Lemon Berry Mascarpone Cake, we then savoured the Sachertorte, and finally we fell on the Vienna Ultimate Chocolate. If I was forced at gunpoint to select a favorite it would be the Sachertorte, but only if I were forced to choose only one. Every single bite was a marvel of tastes. I hope that I may return to Myrtle Beach again so that I may have another superb meal at Cafe Old Vienna.

Made reservations for 6:15pm, but got there a little early and they were able to seat us anyway. Staff was friendly & polite. “Got the German feast for Two.” Food came out quickly and our server was very attentive. Decent beer selection as well. I know there are mixed reviews on this place, but my family and I had a great experience all around—everything we needed in an evening restaurant experience.

Loved the German feast for 2. It came with pork schnitzel, knackwurst, bratwurst, sauerkraut, spartzle with gravy, home fries, red cabbage, and salads. Everything on this plate was amazing. Also got tge apple strudel. That was a let down. The filling was extremely dense and cake like. Not what we were expecting.

Went with the family to change up the scenery while working virtually. Normally, not a big fan of German food from my experience but it had great reviews so needed to check it out for dinner. Ate outside, which was great due to the weather and still pandemic conditions (didnt want to eat inside). We had great service. Enjoyed the beer sampler. The actual dinner was substantial - couldnt finish it - but I did enjoy the platter. Will come back if Im in the area, but maybe get a smaller plate. 😊
