Cafe Laglali - Moroccan restaurant in Fes, Morocco
*** WARNING: This is a tourist scam ***The restaurant charge us for the bread although we didnt order it, we wait over an hour to receive our Moroccan salads (cucumber, tomato, and onion), and they add 20% to our bill while their service was slow and rude.
We had our first experience of moroccan food there and it was quite tasty.Weve ordered chicken couscous and chicken and vegetable tajin. Both were served hot and were tasty. The service was quite slow and it seems that some ordered items ( freshly squeezed juices ,coffee ,moroccan pastrywere delivered from nearby businesses.Cheap prices.
Nice place close to the hammam. After the Hammam we had our lunch here, very good pastilla typical moroccan dish with chicken, eggs and almonds. Top.
Perfect pastilla !
Worst food in place. The pastilla couldnt be humanly eaten. Full of bones and other not edible chicken pieces. Nothing had flavor, with tons of oil and made 2-3 days ago.I understand its a touristic place, but theres a difference between bad food and something you cannot eat. This one is 2nd. Just go to the other restaurants next to it. Disgusting.
Worst place to go, they are scamming tourists there, the waiter did not tell us that we need to pay 20 DH tips at the beginning. The food was not good at all, we have had the way better food on other places in Fes. The waiter makes you confuse with the calculation of the bill as he does not even bring a receipt.
Not the best place to go to. The food was not great, service was bad and there were a lot of stray cats begging for food. ‘Give me the bill’ was the sentence with which we parted ways…
Excellent value for money and great fun to dine al fresco while watching the endless parade of people in the medina. I had the excellent chicken tajine for 40 MAD and the portion was so generous I had trouble finishing it. They also had a 70 MAD set menu with starter, main, drink and dessert. Service was excellent as well. NOTE: Google Maps is a little off - its across the street toward the Blue Gate, with blue tablecloths, next to the hamman.
Freshly made good food, amazing service, great location
The Best Tajiine of Marocco! I eat there every evening of my holiday, it was sooo delicous!! The price is very fair and the service is very very good! Try the Mint Tea also!!! Merci!!!!
Unexpectedly tasty food. Neat and polite waitor/owner. I recommend it
Got tricked here thinking it was Chez Rachid. The tajine and lemon juice were ok, but not great. Overcharged which I didnt think about on the spot; the other reports of 20Dh service are consistent though.
Delicious
Good cuscuss
100% Recomendado.
Beware! This place is a scam. They pretend to be Chez Rachid or Chez Said, which are the restaurants to either side. The waiters really are pretty good scam artists and the food is average.
They pretend to be Chez Rachid, but they arent, they are touting people quite hard and overcharging tourists. I give 2 stars because the meal quality was good, but nobody likes scam.
Exceptionnel !
They lie to you and say that they are Chez Rachid (restaurant next to them with a better reputation). Honestly just walk away.
Scam artist outside who pretends the restaurant is "Chef Said" a couple of doors down (who have a better reputation). Avoid this place like the plague - bad atmosphere from the sellers who arent honest people.
We were passing by looking for a restaurant and the guy wouldn’t let us go stopping our way and putting the menu in front of us, we saw the blue table cloth and we thought we were actually in the right place. When we read on the menu the name of the place was different so we told the guy that we were meant to go to the one next door and he said it was the same but in fact it wasn’t.
Something that started so well ended so badly. They have nice, funny, talkative waiters that convince you to staying with their menu option, which does not include drinks. They have a great menu with many options, including all typical moroccan specialties. We were 4 people. We ordered the food, two of us had starter with main. They served me my starter and others food quite efficiently. They served the main to one other in my table and made me wait for long. They twice brought me dishes i did not order. All the people in my table finished their meals. I said i wanted the check but did not wanted to pay for the food i didnt eat. They tried to convince me to wait and eat the food they were cooking but I refused. After some exchange of words they issued the bill and didnt charge me anything. That was well handled I must say, but I feel bad cause I couldnt enjoy my food which im sure would have been tasty. Not a pleasant experience. They try to do a good job but cant cope when they are extremely busy.
Very nice of the patron to let us have a Moroccan Bahrir from the neighbor bakery on his terrace. With a glass of sweet mint tea that was made very well. I asked the patron to cook me some eggs too for with the bahrir, thats the ideal Moroccan breakfast for me :)
Buen servicio y buena comida.
Beware of hidden additional charges. We were charged Dh120 on top of the menu items we ordered. We were not told about this before we order our dishes.
Typical place for tourists, average quality, but the worst experience, is the additional "service fee" that is not seen anywhere in the menu!!
Typical tourist food for typucal tourist prices. Pushy waiters that added on his own tip though he didnt deserve it, then proceeded to pocket the chamge due on top of his own procured tip. When asked for the change he rudely threw the coins on the table. There are other tourist joints on the left and the right of this place, serving exactly the same menu. Go elsewhere.
The best lemon chicken tajine I ever had! Great place for lunch. Cheap, friendly and reasonably clean. I will return.
The worst food we have been eaten in Maroko. The service is owful and moreover, when you are asking for a bill they are adding 20 dhr more for service, which had no place in this Cafe and nobody informed about that when you agreed to seat there. We ordered lunch menu and they did not give us a desert or fruits, which were included. So, do not trust them and find other real Marokanian food.
Good food. Service ok. There is 20 Dhm extra for kitchen Service (take care or ask first)
We have tried a few restaurants on this street. It was the first and the only to add a service charge of 20% at the end, without telling us previously. Food ok.
Our favorite restaurant in Fez, tried it and went back twice. Great and nice staff (specially the owner not so much the seller on the streetand delicious food at a good price. The tajine with fries and the pastellas were my favourite dishes.100% recommended!
We had the most delicious meals of our time in Marroko here. We loved the prune tajine and tabuleh cous cous. We went back twice cos It was so tasty. Staff is very friendly, great prices.
Prices different of the menu
Funny waiter, good people watching. Drinks are bought next door upon order
One of the many restaurants in the touristy Blue Gate area. Great intro to the Targine and other Moroccan favourites like Pastilla, which is sort of a chicken pie but done Moroccan style with spices in filo pastry. Go for the set menu which cost 70 MAD which basically is a 3 course meal. Service is friendly but may be a little toutish at the beginning as they solicit for customers. Just say a firm No and theyll back off just as quickly. Overall, a great location to sit and relax while eating a decent meal and watching the world go by...smoking is allowed at the table.
Great dishes, generous portions, genuine Moroccan cuisine. Great place to people watch while you enjoy a meal!
Wonderfully clean, local eatery which hosts mainly Moroccan customers, which speaks volumes about the quality of their dishes. It is just inside Bab Boujeloud (enter this gate to the old Medina and walk straight for 20 metres and follow the road as it veers rightand nestled between a few other cafes. We had breakfast here: lots of traditional breads (harsha, baghrir and msemmen), scrambled eggs with preserved meat and bowls of warm bissara (fava bean soup sprinkled with cumin). Ended up coming back for lunch: meat and prunes tagine (a great combination), the grilled chicken on marinated, soft bread and lots of traditional mint tea. Breakfast for our group of 4 cost 120 dirhams (less than £10and lunch was around 180 dirhams (approx. £15). Staff are very welcoming and kind. Enjoy!
Traditional coffe shop and restaurant. A place where you can drink a delicious Morrocan tea. Location is awesome as it is at the main gate to access the medina.
Has really good food and tea. Not usually full because sales staff is not that good at drumming up business. But owner and cook are great people. Definitely a diamond in the rough and with a great view of one of the main streets.
