Café Hollander - Brookfield in Waukesha
Description
Privilege
It is the best place for brunch. Not only do they have a wonderful cocktail or beverage to match everything, everything is so uniquely and beautifully but together that any palette is going to dance with happiness
MoreAmazing brunch! Loved the eggs benedict and the hibiscus passion mimosa! Our server, Kate, was amazing too! Will be back again soon.
MoreEnjoyed having lunch on the deck … beautiful sunny afternoon. The Salmon Smorrebrod was amazing.
MoreIt’s an pretty good Café Hollander employees are friendly and wait times are relatively short but I think this place is kinda overrated the upstairs dinning is great though! Along with the elevator straight to the parking!
MoreGreat restaurant with a nice atmosphere and feel. Our server Riley was very friendly and attentive. The berry brie french toast was delicious, and the food came out promptly. 10/10 would go again!
MoreFirst off, once we got the text that our table was ready we walked in and waited behind other peiple waiting at the hostess station. Another group walked in feont of everybody and they seated them beforw all of use who were there first.Secondly they dont even serve lumch until 2:00. If you go around noon (a normal time to eat lunch.you are stuck ordering breakfast food.Im not sure if i have ever been somewhere with more uncomfortable chairs.
MoreThis place is so good omg. came here a couple years ago and had to come back because of the delicious dutch donuts!
MoreAbsolutely love this place. From the amazing drinks to the phenomenal food menu.Great customer service, and cleanliness environment.Great for bunch, Lunch or dinner.Family, friends or professional outings.Micheal is very welcoming. Staff is trained with beer & menu knowledge.
MoreCame here for dinner last week & this was my first time at this location. The waitress was kind and attentive. The food wasn’t great though & the cooks left off 3 things on my burger when I just asked to take off 2 ingredients. My cocktail was almost the same price as my dinner, which I suppose can be expected. Also the chairs on the patio are not very comfortable. 4/5 stars
MorePerhaps COVID drove all of their good chefs and staff back to Belgium? Last night was abysmal - first the beer comes out in a glass with so much schmutz around the rim I was concerned I needed to contact my primary physician. Brussel sprout dish clearly had some bizarre oil as it caused us to have some gastric distress later that evening. Friday fish fry, right? So out comes a plate with two cups of tartar sauce. One was the correct consistency, the other was a straight liquid. Does the waitress notice this? Nope. I call her back over, point it out, she goes "Huh - thats weird. Did you want another one?" Really? Not once did she tell the manager of our issues, or did he/she stop over. One piece of fish had a very off taste. Salmon was also dry and "fishy" which is never a good sign. This place has fallen SOOOOO far from its glory days with no sign of the descent stopping. Sad!
MoreService was excellent. Atmosphere was inviting. Surrounding area is full of shops and family friendly. I had meatloaf and mash potatoes with asparagus. Menu had a good variety but not too big as to ponder long. Definitely recommend if in the area.
MoreNice and relaxing spot for a bite located in a beautiful new center just off the highway. Plenty of FREE parking and walkng area to sroll and walk off after a large meal.
MoreNice location, okay food. $20 for a burger... was not spectacular. They do have gluten free options. Not a great selection, but they are available. My glass was empty more often than not. The soda was not mixed right. Flat and syrupy.
MoreI highly recommend this restaurant! The atmosphere was great for meeting friends and our server Hannah was so friendly and helpful. We will definitely go back!
MoreVery nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Great decent sized portion of food as well.
MoreVery good place for dinner or lunch had the Sconnie burger , was very good. Service was a 5/5. The selection of beer was good as well.
MoreGood food and generally good staff. Sometimes inconsistent experience, but they will take care of you. Go for breakfast for sure. Lunch dinner also good. The bloody Marys were pretty decent. Had the French toast, yogurt, and Benedict. Eggs cooked wonderful. The restaurant dining area is clean. the bathroom is clean. Decor is nice.
MoreTook my Mom out to celebrate her 81st b-day.Sat in the bar area. Food was great, Kayla our server was so NICE! Thanks Kayla, you made our bday celebration wonderful. The bday dessert was amazing as well😊.
MoreGreat location with a fun atmosphere and delicious food! They have a great variety of food and drinks and can accommodate small to large party sizes for dining. The cheese curds were overdone but the rest of the meal was great. The kids meals are served in a fun bento box style with fruit and veggies. The location itself is great with both outdoor and indoor seating and friendly service.
MoreThe omelette was pretty gross, rubbery eggs and really salty fries.. other members of my party enjoyed their burgers and falafel but Ill pass. Would happily have given this review in person if the server had asked.
MoreSons chicken tenders were burnt and hard as a rock. He couldnt even bite through it. Waitress was good though and comped his meal for having to wait so long for them to remake his meal. The food wasnt all that great and I probably wont be back.
MoreWent here to eat prior to going to see Top Gun. They have one of those give your phone number wait systems which is fine. Restaurant was packed and we were sat in about 10 minutes. Food was great. Wife ordered a burger and fries and I forgot what I ordered but theres a picture of it. Pretty big beer selection. We ate on the second floor which was nice. They also have outdoor seating available.
MoreMy family dined at this location twice over a four day stay. The service, food quality and portions were top notch. Notable items were sconnie burger, crispy chicken bowl and the spiced shrimp salad. The croissant breakfast sandwich was delicious but a little messy. If youre in the area try this place out!
MoreWe love this restaurant but only giving 4 stars instead of 5 because you got rid of the best thing on the menu! The goat cheese bruschetta was so good! We would come in just for that and the flatbread was okay but no where near the same. Sadly a lot less reason for us to come here now :/Service is good and food is great, but without that probably will visit other restaurants with bruschetta instead.
MoreGreat location with an excellent infrastructure of a restaurant. Food is consistently good with a great beer selection. Parking is surprisingly easy. We often get to go orders and they are almost always ready within a reasonable time.
MoreAlways a nice experience. The food is great, the ambiance has a ton of natural light, family friendly, and comfortable. Most importantly, the kids portions are probably the best of any restaurant Ive been to. Perfect mix of entree, veggies, and fruit. Great place.
MoreHad a great waitress! Super friendly and made us feel very welcomed! Hope to get her again. Place was neat and clean even the bathroom!!!
MoreFirst time trying dinner and was very pleased. The mussels were delicious 😋
Quick service even though busy hours and the food was immaculate! The drink selection is good and I am told that the beers taste very well as well. I love the quality, the service, and the community around Cafe Hollander and I would go there for every meal if I could!
MoreWent to Cafe Hollander for breakfast this morning. It was extremely disappointing. We arrived at 8:00 am for breakfast, and we were the only ones in the restaurant. The server was great but the food was not. We were aware that their prices are high, and we were fine with that. The omelet was very small and not delicious. It came with a meager helping of potatoes. The benedict was missing the hollandaise sauce and the plate looked very skimpy. My sister and I each ordered French toast, each a different kind. A couple slices of each were quite overcooked. It tasted dry and not enjoyable. Quite honestly, it seemed that their chef called in sick and someone else stepped in to attempt to cook the food. Ive been a fan of this restaurant in the past but I dont think I can gear up to try it again. Our bill was $68.00 for a very sub-par meal.
MoreEnjoyed a family friendly dinner on the 2nd level rooftop. Beautiful scenery and friendly wait staff made the family meal worthwhile. Delicious food and drinks that no one complained about. Thanks for the great night out. Will return for sure!
MoreKind of a too big to fail place. $60 stop on the way home event.Bartender a bit too busy kabitzing to take our order - very few customers in the place at the time.Meatball appetizer were tasty.Pecan pie dessert always great. We tried 2 of the house + collaboration beers. Not impressed. Offer more barrel aged options.
MoreMy wife and I stopped in for a quick brunch this weekend, and everything was excellent. There were several new menu items and our server Hannah was very helpful in explaining them to us and recommending items. We ended up splitting the new avocado toast and the berry Brie French toast. We will definitely be back soon! While we didn’t drink this time the bloody Mary’s are always amazing as well!
MoreMy husband and I stopped by for an early dinner, and we were very excited to see some of the new menu items as we come here quite often. I tried the new shrimp salad and it was wonderful. We were happy to see Hannah working at the bar, and we will definitely be back soon!
MoreI reserved an outdoor dome since we had dogs and out of town guests. It was a fun experience to eat outside in the winter. The service was good and the pomegranate mule drink package we selected was tasty. I liked all the appetizers and the breakfast tacos. The side potatoes were super bland and others in my group also did not like their potatoes
MoreReally cool atmosphere and the beet burger was amazing. Not sure how healthy this sandwich was but it did pack an amazing amount of flavor. If I was ever back in the area I would definitely return and get the beet burger again.
MoreLittle short staff. Very popular brunch in November. Great atmosphere and staff. I had the mushroom omelette and it was fantastic.
Morenever been here before. drove from Chicago to try the food here...we were actually at another restaurant waiting for a table for over half hour when we decided to come here instead. Told there was no wait, and we were seated immediately upstairs. the place is huge - filled with all kinds of interesting decor and old pictures of Europe and 50s-70s style advertising plastered on the walls.we ordered the pretzel battered cheese curds, they just tasted like regular battered cheese curds maybe we were given the wrong stuff I dont know but they were good anyways. We were so thirsty and were kept entertained with endless refills of coke and diet as we waited for our meal. we had the chopped chicken salad along with the salmon salad and our third member got the burger, I cant remember the name of it (theres actually an artistic painting of it in the parking garage), without bacon. the burger came with fries which we all shared and they were absolutely fantastic. they were a little crunchy and stayed warm which was just perfect. these are the best fries Ive ever had I think. the cost wasnt bad but being in the evening at this time of year the sun was shining through all of the beautiful windows right into my face. I suggest sitting downstairs or on the east side of the restaurant if you go in the evenings and dont like angled light. the food was very good, but probably 10% more than I think it should be as far as cost. its still worth it. our waiter *Josh* was very attentive and came back many times. Sat Oct 16 2021. Total bill $65ish with 3 meals, appetizer, large coke, large apple juice.Thank you Josh and crew! Well be back
MoreIm really not sure why we waited so long to go back to Cafe Hollander as it was even better than I had remembered. We had visited the Mequon and Wauwatosa locations before and have never been disappointed. This was our first dinner at their Brookfield location at the Corners. It was a beautiful early Friday evening on July 9th when we stopped by to give this location a try. Cafe Hollander Brookfield, like their other locations, has a modern European gastropub vibe. The restaurant is very big with multiple floors and an AMAZING rooftop outdoor seating area. There were a lot of customers dining but, the place is so big and so well staffed it didnt seem crowded or overly busy. We were greeted and seated promptly and courteously. The service was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Aside from the food, Cafe Hollander has an extensive beer selection with an emphasis on Belgian beers. What was a really nice touch was that each beer I ordered came with a specific glass made for that beer by the brewery - it was cool to drink each beer out of glassware that was designed with the best way to enjoy the beer in mind. We started our meal with the Crispy Brussels Sprouts. This brussel sprout appetizer easily makes it into the top five list of best foods Ive had this year - yes, it is that good. The sprouts are crispy fried and seasoned with an amazing combination of parmesan cheese, pickled peppadew peppers and spicy pepitas. If youre stopping at Cafe Hollander, this is a must-order appetizer. For dinner we had the Big Smokey Burger (nice portion size, gooey smoked Gouda - bacon & avocado with a little kick from the jalapeno BBQ sauce - a seriously good burger& the Bacon Avocado Chicken Wrap (again, a good portion size with great flavor from the blackened garlic ranch aioli- crispy well seasoned fries with both. Overall, a spectacular venue and drinking / eating experience - we wont wait as long as we did to return and well definitely be back to explore more of the beer and food menus. Wish I could give more than 5 stars...
MoreMeh… this location is always hit or miss. The pretzel bites were pretty good and different than the norm. I got the meatloaf…. This dish just has too much going on. The meatloaf is already a big flavor palette but there to have broccoli cheddar mashed potatoes and bbq carrots, it was way too much. You need a regular mashed paired with this meal. Otherwise the tastes of the meal was fine, I wouldn’t get it again.
MoreYummy brunch option, and a great patio to enjoy the summer weather! We had the special mimosas for the Fourth of July, which were very tasty! Food was excellent, and so many choices offered on the menu. Definitely find something for everyone. I want to return again soon, very much enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
MoreDelicious food and great vibe/ambiance. Meatloaf and burger were on point taste wise but portions were on the small side in my opinion. Service was good. Prices fair. No complaints. Will patronize again.
MoreShort menu which shows for some pretty fantastic food. Service was great, checked in a bunch to make sure we were ok.
MoreAtmosphere is incredible and the rooftop at lunch is the right amount of light. The Goat Cheese Bruschetta was one of the best things Ive ever eaten!!!! Paired off with my pilsner I had to drink with it made for an amazing lunch date.
MoreWe were there for a birthday celebration on yesterday 2/20/21 around 1:40pm. When we seated we noticed the manager(gentlemen wearing a Green sweaterstaring at us the entire time. This was so uncomfortable and annoying. My kids felt very uncomfortable. However, we did not let him from enjoying ourselves. Rico was our waiter. He was pleasant and did a great job. However, we will not return to the Brookfield location due to the uncalled for stares.
MoreWhile our service was great, the food was average at best. The loaded tots were overly salty, and my omelette was super greasy. I can say the basil French toast was good, but not the best Ive had. I wouldnt come back for the food, maybe the drinks.🤷🏾♀️
MoreBurgers are good to very good. Sweet potato fries worth trying. Regular fries tasted stale. Salad welted and wet. Their Belgium bread was warm but tasteless. Service slow and not attentive. Large space with two floors and large glass windows, but feels like a chain. Crowded and loud. Unless trying different beer choices is important, I recommend looking elsewhere for good food and service.
MoreThis was my first visit. Ive heard there is another location as well. I was impressed with the overall look of the restaurant. Very trendy. Since it was a Saturday night I wasnt surprised there was a wait, but I didnt mind it either. It was very convenient to be able to be notified via our cell phone where we stood in the wait, and when our table was ready. That enabled us to walk around visiting different shops. The wait ended up being shorter than projected. I enjoyed the cocochata and the chicken bacon avocado wrap. Id order both again, but also look forward to trying something else. Seems like a great place to dine when the weather is warmer. UPDATE 3/19: Love this place!! Have been there two more times. Tried the BLT+A and a mimosa the second time, and a Cucumber Avocado sandwich on Sourdough bread as well as the half bottle of Moscato ( 2 servings in the half). I enjoyed the food and drinks very much. Still plan to return to try the outside dining when its warm.
MoreMy wife had the impossible Burger and I had the big Smokey Burger with aioli sauce. We enjoy going to Cafe Hollander, because it has great food, it has great atmosphere, and good beer. We had mimosas and tea. I particularly enjoy the kitchen because when I order my burger medium rare they bring it out medium rare. Not too many restaurants have that ability to actually figure out how to actually make food that you ordered to what its supposed to be especially meat. We always enjoy our waiters or waitresses and all the staff seems just exceptionally nice. The only thing I suggest is if youre going to go youre probably should try and make a reservation, just as a side note their reservations are weird, I do wish they would change that and just make it simple. Overall I think this is one of the better places to go enjoy food.
MoreSo the place is gorgeous just like the one in Madison (that one is just outstanding). Underground parking with an elevator that takes you right into the bar. Great place for beers. Only complaint was the night we were there the appetizers were slightly soggy.. the cheese curds may have been sitting a bit before bring it to the table, bummer. It took a long time for the goat cheese bruschetta to come out.... it had good flavor.Had the Jambalaya which really was tasty and spiced well but the chicken was really tough. I mentioned this to the waiter who did mention it to the chef. The chef said he’d watch out for that in the future. The waiter took the bruschetta off the bill for the long wait, which was cool but unnecessary.Just a slightly off night, that being said it wouldn’t stop me from going there again because this is a great addition to Brookfield.
