Café Gray Deluxe in Hong Kong
Description
Afternoon tea good as usual
Theyre closing! Lucky we were able to book their farewell dinner before they closed (renovation? Complete revamp?)My favorite place for drinks, meals and chocolate, I will miss my go-to for sure.We ordered their $1200 farewell wine pairing set, with an extra order of half dozen oysters. I honestly think their normal menu was much better. My favorite is always the coffee chocolates and pastry. The passion fruit souffle was good too.
MoreRevisiting before they close for changing into new concept. Love the ambience and the lighting they have there. Good is value worth.
MoreVisited specially to try the Teakha High Tea Set. Call ahead if you want a window-side seat, otherwise, the environment is rather average. The tea was fragrant and didn’t disappoint. Recommend to get the hot tea instead of iced since you can add more hot water afterwards. The bites were smaller than we expected and the flavours were quite mild. If we had to choose one favourite, we’d go with the matcha burnt basque cheese cake but it could be creamier.Overall, not expensive given the collab but not impressive either.
MorePerfect for comfort brunch with an excellent view!!
Sauteed lobster and scallops tasted good. Bitter chocolate dessert was ok. Staff were friendly and so we enjoyed our time there. Tables near the windows were indeed quite close together and so we could not talk much and I noticed that our neighbours could not either. This may be the only bad thing.
MoreExcellent food and service. Love our afternoon high tea set and the scenic and panoramic Victoria Harbour view.
Moreone of the best landscapes and spectacular harbor view ever from hong kong island. Fair price of afternoon tea costs $480 for 2. Excellent and delicate tableware and equipment, however, service doesnt act like a luxury hotel that makes not perfect
MoreGreat service, views and drinks! Awesome place that is very comfortable and relaxing
MoreWe had Xmas dinner there. The food was average. Not worth for 5k. Staff service not professional enough. Feels like you were having dinner at The One restaurants. But the view is very nice.
MoreBar only review.I like this bar.Of all the times I have gone, (usually as a walk inI have never experienced anything but great service.Found the staff happy and attentive.Drinks menu is very well put together and they will make you something by request as well. And, the view is something else.
MoreCafe Gray Deluxe continuos to be my favourite restaurant in Hong Kong. Everything is outstanding...the views, the cocktails, the service...and the food is always delicious.
MoreFood was pretty good , liked the parpadelle and seabass
Wonderful location, superb food and excellent service. Everything is perfect!
Salute to the service and the killer harbor view. All dishes ordered are well prepared. The sauces that complement some of the dishes, I have to say, are the highlights of our meal. the brown sauce that came with our sweet potato fries (we tasted vanilla, some sort of cherries, vinegar, cream was so good. So was the olive-oil-vinegarish butter that came with the complimentary bread.Service wise, we ordered a medium rare steak which came out a bit on the more cooked side. And the restaurant re-made the steak (a perfectly done onewith the previous one given on the house.
MoreReally nice restaurant/bar located on the top of the Upper House hotel in Pacific Place. The hotel entrance can be difficult to find since it doesn’t have clear signage. It’s located next to the JW Marriott and across from the mall.Drinks: 4 starsEnvironment: 5 starsOverall: 4.25 starsI came here for drinks and didn’t try any of the food. The view and environment here is top notch and is a great place to go to see the view of the city. Cocktails are pricey but also were good. I also had the chocolate soufflé, which I didn’t like that much. Otherwise I probably would have rated five stars.
MoreOne of my favourite spots for brunch in Hong Kong. Having not coming back for a few months, the food quality remained high and of course the view is still stunning. The brunch menu had many classic Café Gray Deluxe dishes such as the beef tartare and the burger. It also had new dishes on the menu such as the Tarte Flambee, Short Ribs Eggs Benedict and Elderflower Crème Brulee. The bread as always was fresh and crispy. The Steak Tartare was also refreshing and seasoned nicely with more of a sweet taste than other steak tartare. Which made it taste unique and delicious. The Short Ribs Eggs Benedict was served after being thrown in the salamander/oven to toast off the hollandaise sauce and the short ribs sauce. The eggs were done to perfection and the muffins were soft and fluffy. Unfortunately the short rib served between the egg and muffin was too sweet. The short rib itself was flavourful and succulent. But when combined with the already rich hollandaise sauce, the combination didnt work as well as other classic toppings like smoked salmon or Canadian ham. Mostly due to the intense sweetness from the short rib. If the short rib was more savoury, I think the Eggs Benedict would have tasted much better. The Tarte Flambee was done nicely, it was crispy and the bacon on it was flavourful. Instead of just grating it on the salad in the middle of the Tarte. It would have been perfect if the black truffle was grated more generously covering more of the Tarte. The elderflower crème brulee was soft and very "custardy". The caramel crust was thin and crispy. The highlight of the dish was definitely the rose champagne sorbet, which was divine. It would have been even better if there was more elderflower flavor on the crème brulee. All in all, amazing experience with attentive staff and the food were delicious. And the chocolate at the end of the meal is always a treat.
MoreI love that they have a separate vegan menu! The dishes were healthy and tasty.
I ate here for breakfast every day during my stay at the Upper House. The truffle scrambled eggs croissant sandwich was divine. It was savory without being too rich, and the eggs were soft and creamy. The afternoon tea is good too, especially the scones. Quite possibly the best scones I’ve had in a long time.I love mint tea, and the mint tea here is so refreshing. They use real mint leaves in the tea.Service is spotty. I’ve had times where the servers were attentive and friendly, and other times where i struggled to get the attention of the servers to ask for more water.
MoreNice view and high tea
Nice atmosphere but limited brunch selection. Good quality though
Hong Kongs number one venue for amazing staff, brilliant food and one of the best views in town!
MoreReally nice bar with an amazing view!We had a late dinner at Pacific Place and randomly found this place on Google maps while searching for nearby bars. Apparently, it was the only bar still open in the area. Our group of four were so happy to find this gem. The bar is on the 49th floor at the Upper House. There were signs in the mall that directed us to Upper House on L4 of the mall. L4 leads you outside to the taxi stand and surrounded by several nice hotels. The Upper House is nestled between the JW and Conrad. Walking in we noticed several super cars outside. The architecture, design, and scent of the lobby made it feel high end, and I immediately felt underdressed in my tie dye tank, jeans, and chucks. Oh well. We head on up the long escalators and take the elevator to the 49th floor. To the left there is a big hotel lounge area (check this out, it’s gorgeous), and on the right is the entrance to Cafe Gray Bar. The host led us to the bar area on the left and we immediately start to notice the stunning views of the city as we passed by each window. We were there for drinks so were seated in the bar area and were given a small bowl of mixed nuts. It was quite busy. I noticed they serve food as well, and the oysters seemed like a popular choice. When a bigger table opened up near the window, we were asked if we wanted to move there. Hell Yeah! Drinks were good. I enjoyed my After Dark cocktail. Prices are comparable to drinks you’d get at the bars in LKF with a service charge. Our group loved admiring the city and harbor views and pointing out things we haven’t seen before. It was a great experience. I will be adding this spot to my list of places to take our out of town guests to check out. Maybe we’ll do dinner. The view, friendliness of the staff, and feeling like a crazy rich Asian; even though we’re not, made it all worth it.
MoreThey probably have one of the best toilets I have ever been to.Food is above average, not great though. The view is good if they let you sit next to the windows. The service needs to be improved. For example, explain why the tables with a view are not available when the customers ask for it; provide menus in different languages for non-English speaking customers; provide high chairs to babies. Last but not least, smile more.
MoreThe view is greatSome of the food is alrightMaybe just afternoon tea is fine
One of my favorite brunch spots in HK! Located on the top floor of the Upper House boutique hotel in HK, Café Gray offers a very nice location for upscale brunch with a view of HK island. They usually offered an option of 2-3 course brunch. Our favorites include the papaya salad (appetizer). We were expecting the Thai style papaya salad (“somtum”but this was a nice surprise where the papayas were served as fresh fruits , which made for a very refreshing healthy dish. For mains, we got their famous shepeard pie and a classic eggs dish. Both are done well. For dissert, we got the six colored ice cream, which tastes “ok” but the look more than makes up for it. It’s served in a pretty flower set of cups with varying flavor and color. They also gave complementary chocolate to fnish off the meal.Starter bread and coffee are both average. At night, Café Gray also makes for a perfect drinks / social spot to catch-up with friends and observe the beautiful HK skyline.Reservations needed.
MoreGreat fish dishes. They offer a 2 / 3 course Prix fixe menu during lunch. Excellent staff who are able to speak English, Cantonese and Mandarin
MoreNice view and good wine selection. If you want to go, make a reservation in advance.
MoreWent for afternoon tea. The view was nice. The staff was nice too but the staff mistook my order which I think the professionalism can be improved. The cafe itself is slightly more crowd than I thought. You can see it from the photo.
MoreThe clam, lobster chowder is one of the best I have tried. The lychee tiramisu is also v creative n tasty.
MoreMy favourite bar in Central/Admiralty area. View is fantastic and staff are super nice. Would recommend breakfast as well. Lunch and afternoon tea were ok but not super impressive.
Morevisited on Sat. the bread and pastries are nice, overall with the view there is still good.but really want to mention (blameis the “East xx Brunch” (square plate in middle of one photois not worth at all!! prices at hkd3xx with only 6 pieces of very normal dim sum and taste nothing :( (a lesson learned to never order oriental food at western-styled restaurant)the steak at similar price must be much better.....
MoreLove this restaurant and the service is wonderful despite us coming with two young kids (1 and 5 years old). The views in the day and night are both lovely.Food is good, especially loved their breakfast spread with their egg truffle croissant. Their dinner menu, we always chose the steamed fish (can’t remember the namewith rice and vegetables. Kids loved it.
MoreWent for high tea which starts at 3:30pm. We didnt book so we couldnt get a table by the window. This place gets a large crowd even on a workday and the high tea set is good quality. Services was excellent but comes 5pm they rush us out to get ready for dinner service.
MoreHad the NYE gala dinner. What can I say? From the starter to the dessert, PERFECT! A special mention goes to the oxtail consomme beet ravioli and the oh-so-fresh grapefruit soup with bitter chocolate sorbet. They were exquisite!! And the waiters -amazing. They discreetly handled difficult situations regarding the fireworks viewing spots and exceeded our expectations with their friendliness! You will not regret visiting Cafe Gray Deluxe!
MoreWe came for the 3 course lunch. The food and service was outstanding. Beautiful decor and stunning architecture. Book a reservation so you get a corner table with amazing views
MoreGood food, good views, and reasonable prices.
very classy establishment with a tasteful and inobtrusive design as well as a phenomenal view as a bonus. food is good, service could be a little more forthcoming. also boasts one of the coolest bathrooms I have ever encountered.
MoreClassy and cozy setting to have lunch / dinner and cocktails. Great ingredients used in the lunch and dinner sets.
MoreGreat Place for Anniversary Celebration!Nice View to the Victoria Harbour!
Reasonable price for an afternoon tea set with a view. Wouldnt call this a romantic place though as 2 person tables are a bit too close.
MoreCame here for drinks on the 49th floor. The view is magnificent. It is located above the Mariott but it has separate entrance.Cane back here 1 year later but this time had dinner. The food are good. The staff are friendly and helpful.
MoreGreat view, great service and delicious food. On the expensive side however very much worth it!
MoreSunday afternoon drinks, fabulous service, great music relaxed atmosphere and what a view. Brilliant.
MoreThe view, the environment, the food, the wine, just loving it!
Very stylish bar with awesome views over Hong Kong.A bit pricey but worth it for the view
MoreHavent tried the dinner, just as cocktail bar, very good service and cocktails. They are also quick. Be aware it is expensive, after all it is in a 5 stars hotel. Around 13€ a drink. But the views are amazing, it is at the top floor of the upper house hotel.
MoreSuperb view of Kowloon and Hong Kong Island with great food and drinks. Definitely a memorable experience.
MoreExceptional! A must do for anyone seeking a finer experience of Hong Kong! Fabulous view of the HKG/Kowloon skyline paired with delicious modern food, decadent cocktails and a premium experience. My winner was the Cafe Gray earl grey martini! Yum!
MoreLive up to its price tag, beautiful view and atmosphere, quality food and service, steak tar tar and house wine are highly recommended
