Café El Punto - Puerto Rican restaurant in San Juan, Puerto Rico
The food here is great and the portions are generous for the price. The calamari and mofongo are super good here. And our waiter was fantastic. Definitely the best service we got in San Juan.
Excellent service and atmosphere that was only matched by the amazing food!
Great food, great service. I had the churrasco with some tostones - excellent! My daughter had the chorillana and it was very good as well. Definitely try the fruit shakes. This is a must when in viejo San Juan.
Such a delicious, fresh meal with great value in an intimate, unique setting. A must stop of youre in old San Juan. I had the stuffed avocado with crab, and it was amazing! Please do yourself a favour and eat here! Service was great too.
If you’re new to PR like my boyfriend and me, I highly suggest this restaurant to get great quality authentic cuisine. I ordered the crab stuffed avocado and this was truly the best crab I ever tasted! The pina colada was also very good. 10/10 would come back!
This was the BEST meal I have ever had!!! This was authentic food that made me smile after just one bite. Carlos truly made the experience. He was extremely educated when it came to the menu and was super friendly. If you are in Old San Juan, you have to go!!!
Fresh local food. Easily the best food I’ve had in Puerto Rico. Really cool environment, also Carlos did a great job making us feel welcome and explaining the menu. The plantains and rice and beans were incredible.
We heard great things about this place. It was just okay. The server was great, super nice and attentive. The food itself was not great. The tostones cups were very thick and under cooked- we got shrimp in them and it was described as shrimp in garlic sauce with garlic- there was no sauce at all and no flavor. The Chilean salad was room temperature and also had no flavor at all (even salt). The rice and beans were good. The chuletas were cooked very brown and again, needed a lot of salt. We also got the accupurrias which were very overcooked. Our food took almost 40 mins to come out- every other table in the room ordered at the same time (or within a few moments of usand they were all done eating before our food even came out. This was one of the more disappointing meals in PR .
Nice authentic food, generous portions, descent prices, welcoming smiles, ancient walls, great atmosphere
We were excited to go here given the high reviews. Our first bad experience was the margarita. It tasted very sour and not fresh. We tried to return it and the waiter kept insisting on how fresh the mango was. I tried her margarita and it was awful. We sat near the kitchen and the cook would handle raw food then wipe his hands on a dirty towel then proceed to touch other food and plates. Our food was just okay and the service wasn’t very friendly. It is overpriced and not worth the money. We stayed in Puerto Rico for a week and there are plenty of other nice places.
The food and the service was amazing I truly enjoyed the house sangria 10/10 Do Recommend an absolute joy. The also have tons of art and it’s a family business.
Quite possibly the best meal we had in Old San Juan! Portion sizes very generous. Mojito was very good (best mojito at this price point of the 5 mojitos we tried)! The restaurant forgot to include the beans in our takeout (we hadn’t noticedbut they ran into the street after us calling my name to make sure we got them—we really appreciate that!
Great Puerto Rican flair! I loved the atmosphere! I loved the music! I loved the food! Our waiter was great! We ordered the whole red snapper and shared it witha side or red beans and rice. It was delicious. My only complaint is this.... I felt as though they had a "separate" little room for "the white people" or "tourists". All the locals that came in sat in the regular part of the resturant and all the people that spoke english or looked like tourists were crammed into this tiny little room like sardines off to the side. It felt very demeaning. I am not sure if they didnt think we would notice, but I sure did. I was excited to try this place because it looked like fun! But as soon as I realized that they were segregating us from the locals I felt very uneasy. If they had not done that, they would have gotten 5 stars. However, that was a HUGE negative for me.
Everything was great! The food was amazing! The server, Sergio, was knowledge, professional and courteous..... Our first time to Puerto Rico and he made our day! Thanks Sergio
First of all, Carlos is a freaking beast. Got the food out quickly, kept us laughing and recommended this green sauce that blew my socks off. We sort of fell into this place and let me tell you this is one of the best restaurants I’ve tried in Puerto Rico. I don’t leave a lot of reviews but definitely stop by here and literally anything on their menu is fantastic.
We heard about this place from a friend who had eaten here before and loved it. Staff are nice and friendly!! If it’s near closing time on a busy day such as the weekend, I highly recommend going early to put your name in. We had a 45 min wait and when we came back, they turned away so many parties because they closed the waiting list.
Delicious ceviche, amazing mofongo, and perfect customer service! This place was our first dinner stop on an anniversary trip and I am so happy with how delicious everything is and how wonderful the service is!If I wasn’t so full, I would have ordered another appetizer
Best red beans and rice since my time in New Orleans. Shrimp on avocado was great. Pineapple, banana strawberry juice - so yummy.
Our waiter had to put up with our group of 6 adults and 2 hot and cranky toddlers right when they opened. He was super helpful and patient with us and made us feel welcome. We all had to try the mofongo and we all enjoyed it. Im not sure what differentiates the good from the bad so keep that in mind. My mojito was also excellent, and gone far too quickly.
The ceviche, smoothies, and guacamole are made from scratch and always fresh. One of the healthier options in Old San Juan and tucked away from the foot traffic from the street. We’ve been here multiple times with friends and family, every time is a great experience, the servers are nice and the food is delicious.
Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!! Best guacamole EVER, delicious house-made hot sauce, creole sauce was money.
Delicious but pricey at $28.95 for ceviche. Excellent waiter! Friendly and eager to serve.
Great service and delicious food. Tiny restaurant inside a little shopping alley. Was perfect stop for our lunch. We had the stuffed avocado with crab and fried cheese bites and both were very good.
Best Pina Colada we had on in Old San Juan. Great stuffed avocado, mofongo, and tuna.
A+ ceviche and red snapper. Fun space with delicious food.
Got the Jueyes Mofongo, which is mashed plantains with crab. Out of this world with the flavors. The mojitos were amazing too, especially the passion fruit!
Wonderful! This was the best dinner we had while visiting Puerto Rico. Be prepared to wait, the wait is worth it! We started with their combination platter because we couldnt decide. Everything was delicious 😋 The house hot sauce is not for the faint of heart but the flavor is amazing, not like mass produced sauces. I recommend you take your time to enjoy this little gem.
We came for the Chilean empanadas and they were out at 2pm😩. The ceviche was good and so we’re the fish bites. Their fruit juices and frappes were delicious but everything was really pricey for Puerto Rico.
Let me just say WOW!! Hidden gem!! Our party of 6 was seated quickly in one of the cozy dining rooms. Sergio provided excellent service and was very knowledgeable about the menu! We started off with 4 appetizers, the plantain empanadas with ground beef, fish ceviche, fried cheese and fresh guacamole. Everything was prepared perfectly and nothing felt greasy or heavy. The ceviche was so fresh and the plantain chips were crispy and delicious. We shared a few entrees, skirt steak mofongo, skirt steak meal, chicken stuffed avocado and the ground beef stuffed avocado. So many flavors!!! Seasoned perfectly!! The steak was amazing and cooked exactly to order. But the chicken, oh my gosh, best chicken Ive ever eaten. We couldnt get over how flavorful it was and the creole sauce that came with it was yummy on the fried plantains as well!!! Seriously, stop here if you get the chance. We are trying to go back again because there were so many things we wanted to try on the menu!! Great job Alejandro and staff! Buen Provecho!!
We stopped here for lunch while walking around Old San Juan and it did not disappoint! Service was great and food was delicious. Highly recommend the mofongo stuffed with skirt steak and seafood ceviche.
Good food and drinks! We had ceviche mofongo and tropical caprese (which is basically caprese + avocado), both really good.
The best food I had in San Juan. Food was great. Vibe was great. Service was even better. I loved their langosta with tostones (see photo), the guava mojito, the piñacolada. We even got a chicken mofongo to go for our flight back to Missouri next day, and it was still delicious.
The atmosphere, service, and food were spectacular. I’d highly recommend the avocado dish with the chicken!
Hidden gem, would’ve missed it if it wasn’t for Google. Great Puerto Rican food, nice servers, quick serve with no mistake. Absolutely awesome. The fries were also amazing, locally made.
Good taste but not exceptional. Vegan Burger and Mofongo stuffed with seafood. The mofongo is too pricey for the flavor and size.
Food was unique and interesting. The staff were very friendly and helped us find good choices.
We come here every time were in San Juan, they have the largest avocados Ive ever seen and you can get them stuffed with ceviche, chicken or veggies if youre vegan. Also, you gotta try the sangria! My husband and I had one pitcher between us and all I gotta say is Im glad we had taken Uber. Super good food, drink, and experience overall.
I hoped this "hole in the wall" local spot in old San Juan would offer amazing authentic food but I was not impressed. The food was just okay. Two of our dishes came out slightly colder than room temp. Portions seemed small for the prices, and flavors were a bit off, or bland. Our server was not helpful when we asked for recommendations, or in general. We had to go find her anytime we needed something. We love supporting local places and are understanding of current staffing shortages, but this place still fell short in my opinion.
Excellent food and service in Old San Juan. Everything was so flavorful! Really impressive flavor from their empanadas, alcapurrias, ceviche, and pastel de choclo. The pastel de choclo, a sweet corn pie with beef, chicken, eggs, raisins, and onions was so hearty and delicious. The ingredients tasted farm fresh. Everything from the avocado and tomatoes to the mango in the mango juice tasted of very high quality. Service was friendly and, except for when it came to receiving our bill, surprisingly fast. They left a good impression and took care of us. The interior is colorful and homey. You can’t go wrong here!
I am visiting PR for my first time after Christmas and we stopped here. They had a wait of 45 mins but they called us way early, we told the lady that it was going to take us around 10 mins to get there, she was friendly and said they would hold the table. Sergio was our server and he was great. Great attitude and great piña colada’s. The food took longer but it was completely understandable as it was the day after Christmas (busy. But the food was worth it. Great savory flavor and awesome(bigportions! The decor is really cozy, inviting and art oriented. They have a gallery you can appreciate. I loved this place and would definitely recommend and come back to eat again.
Great drinks, great food, and even better service! The waiter was a lot of fun and you could tell he enjoyed his job. They made good mojitos and the mofongo was delicious.
Stumbled upon this amazing restaurant in old town. The ambiance is quaint and different with 3 small and intimate art themed dining rooms. The service was the best we had in PR - super friendly and attentive and the food…OMG the BEST authentic, fresh, and delicious local food we had our entire 8 days there…sooo good! You must try the stuffed avocado or the grilled grouper!
By far the best food in Old San Juan. Carlos was the greatest waiter ever!!! Food was perfection. Honestly the best ceviche I’ve ever had. And I have traveled to many countries. Skirt steak stuffed avacados.
A fantastic experience at this friendly family owned restaurant. The conch ceviche was amazing! Empanadas are great along with their cocktails. The excellent service is a plus!
The food was great and the drinks/smoothies were good. The portions were fine on everything except my meal which was the beef turnover/empinata. It was the exact same dish that is served as an appetizer and with such a small portion I was left unsatisfied. The service was very slow but the eating area was nice.
The food was AMAZING!!! I wanted to capture it before I ate some but it wasnt possible. The colors and smells were so enticing that I had to taste it to believe it and the food did not disappoint its presentation. The drinks were as strong as the flavors. The venue was covered in gorgeous eclectic art. It was loud and alive and Puerto Rican!!! Even the location in Old San Juan adds to the charm. This place is a must visit when you are in the area!
Delicious Puerto Rican food, in a lovely restaurant decorated with art throughout. I had the pineapple strawberry smoothie, empanadas, and ceviche (with plantain chips)
Over priced & average food. Just like all the other tourist filled places in PR, this place takes advantage by pricing their menu items 2x what theyre actually worth.Youll get a decent meal, sure. But Id avoid eating here and find something away from the tourist area of the umbrella street.Staff is friendly tho and tables are spread out.
The food was amazing and the ambiance was perfect the staff deserves a 100 they really made you feel welcome and important. They didnt just ask if you were okay it was more in depth like hows your food? Hows your drink? And questions? Anything else you need... And the craft shop before you enter had some really nice things to.
Super cute place with delicious food and great service. We tried the fish ceviche and plantain cups with shrimp in garlic butter sauce. Yum! Tons of beer selections and fruit smoothies too.
