Cafe Chez Zaza - Restaurant in Marrakech, Morocco
Good food. Very friendly service. Nice rooftop balcony.
Amazing Berber lamb tagine, and juice was excellent as well. Friendly waiters and the kitchen cook /staff came to say hi! Good view at sunset
Food was amazing. Very flavorful.
The food is amazing with really really cheap price. We ate so many dishes and all are super delicious. The guy who served us was super friendly as well. He advised us what is good and what not, really sincerely. Visited this place twice in our 1 week in Marrakesh. The bomb is definitely Tagine Lamb and Couscous. Best Couscous and Tagine in town for sure!!Will definitely come back again!
Had an amazing rooftop meal overlooking the bustling streets of Marrakech. Karim was an excellent server and helped us pick out the best items on the menu to make for one of our favorite meals in Marrakech. Would 100% recommend!
Nice shady terrace away from the hustle. Good prices. Berber tagine and lemon chicken tagine both good. Service with a smile. We went there twice when we were starving and needed a decent easy feed.
Saw the reviews and decided to come and try tagine… it was SO GOOD. The most tender meat I’ve had and the prunes added that little bit of sweetness!Hard to find as the stairs are tiny and the sign is easy to miss, but worth a visit for sure. Came in around 9pm and we were the first there, got very busy and full afterwards. The one thing that would have made it better was if the server came by again to ask how it was going. We had a hard time asking for water since it just got busy. But again, still really enjoyed the terrace and tagine!
One of those hidden gems. Very reasonably priced and the food is delicious. The waiter was very nice and took pictures of our group on request.Situated above a clothes shop, this rooftop-only restaurant there are two flights of stairs. There is a breeze throughout the day and night to keep you cool. The restaurant is quite small, but the food really does shine. We went to this place twice.
Delicious food, reasonable prices and amazing service!!! Karim, our waiter, was amazing ❤️❤️
Really tasty food! 😋 We loved the tagines and the staff were very friendly. Terrace is cozy. Good value for money as well.Would recommend to all!!
We came here twice to eat and enjoyed the Kofta Tajine. Food is very good and people are friendly, would recommend to eat here.
Very authentic & delicious food. Waiter was super attentive & friendly. Nice terrace with a good view to watch the sunset & the busy street/place underneath. We would come back.
Lovely place with nice view... Food was tasty and service was also good. Had a great time with family... Though going up and coming down the stairs was scary..
Nice rooftop, nice food, friendly staff
Gets super windy on top floor though was nice setup. We only came for drinks and a small bite but is a good restop, with nice view and rooftop terrace
The view is okay..But the food is on another level honestly, one of the best marrocain dish that I ever have. The place is kinda hard to find its between two stores so you have to pay attention to find it. I would totally recommand the food is amazing
Great view, cheap food, and good people. You may have hard time finding the entrance, in this case ask the people in the store. You will need to walk through tiny entrance stairs. I suggest owners they write the name of the restaurant in the entrance. Had hard time finding it.
Beautiful place Great food , exactly the pastila zaza it’s wonderful I recommend everyone to visit this place 👌
Really nice and tiny place in the centre of medina. The terrace is a perfect place to eat far from the caos of the streets. A really pleasant breeze can be enjoyed during the hottest hour of the day. Food very tasty, big portions. The price is right.
Hard to find....but WORTH IT!! Look for a sandwich board and small red stairs. THIS PLACE was amazing!! Quiet, respectful, friendly and amazing service and food quality! Dont waste your time with the food vendors in the square. Come here!!
The best food in Marocco! Good quality, Perfect taste, super friendly waiter. During our next visit we will be back! Shame that we Discover you in our last day!
Great to get a taste of authentic Morrocan food, with a very nice atmosphere and view on the rooftop! Very friendly staff too.Try the Bastilla with chicken!
We came mid-afternoon for a late lunch and waited an hour for a vegetarian pastilla and vegetable briouates. Two other tables got their food before us. When our food finally came, the briouates were filled with meat instead of vegetarian. When I pointed it out to the waiter, he told me I was « searching for problems where there aren’t any ». Turns out when he checked he confirmed it was meat. As we are both vegetarian, we couldn’t eat the briouates they had prepared. We are leaving 2 stars because the chef was kind and the food was ok.
Good food at fair price. We ordered some drinks and enjoyed the view.
So nice we had it twice! Everything was extremely tasty and thoughtfully prepared. Would highly recommend the zalouk (eggplant dip), lamb chops, and chicken tagine w/ lemon & olive. Great rooftop terrace with a view!
A brilliant little place. Food excellent and freshly cooked which does mean youll wait a while for it. Good views.Hard to find - look out for the narrow and steep staircase. Good olive stalls right behind this place.Careful when exiting the toilet - the door is low and I almost knocked myself out. Had a big lump on my head after walking into the door frame.
We came here twice for the lamb with prunes because it was fantastic - best tagine we had in Marrakesh. We also tried the couscous - but tagine is much better. The marocain salad and zaalouk (aubergine-tomato saladwere also very nice. Fully recommend this place
Such a cute place. Rooftop was a little empty when we got there but it ended up being so peaceful, we got to overlook a little square and the two closest mosques. Food was the highlight though: everything was simple but the seasoning/spices brought everything up to the next level. Zazouk was a must try, plus the moroccan salad. Worth a dinner while in the medina of marrakesh
Beautiful tagines and cous cous, nice terrace away from hustle and bustle of street level. 60 mad for tagine, 65 for huge cous cous. Very reasonable and filling.
We had some of our best food in that place, everything taste amazing, perfectly seasoned. Very generous quantity for super good prices. Youll have a nice view on a rooftop really close to the Jemaa el fna but far enough to have a peaceful dinner.I really recommend this great place, the people working there are super nice and the chef is very skilled.
July 2019:We had our first lunch at Cafe chez ZaZa. The place is warm and cozy and the Stuff was friendly. We try mozza salad, tanjin chicken and chicken couscous. All of the dishes was big enough and tasty. The mozza salad was just amazing. Before the meal they gave us bread and olives as starter. For desert we choose Moroccan pasties but it was not so good choice.Generally speaking the restaurant is very good, if you want to have a budget lunch or dinner you can try it. View was also good.We paid 240 mad for 2 main dishes, one salad, one desert and two bottles of water.I recommend it.
We tried many restaurants in Marrakesh and many Tajines. As someone who stayed in the city more than 10 days, I would recommend Chez Zaza as one of the best restaurants in the city. I tried Lamm Tajine with Plums, the taste was perfect. The harmony between meat and plum is indescribable. It is cooked together and it is possible to get a pinch of taste of plum in meat! The price is also good and the staff is helpful.I also recommend mixed briouats. We like it a lot, even one time just go there to grab Briouats to go. The staff was surprised :)
This place has a great rooftop view and terrace overlooking the hustle and bustle. The food was all delicious! Hangry highly recommends eating here. The chicken briwates was sensational. Probably the best think I ate in my time in Marrakech. Unfortunately I was sooo Hangry when it came that I nearly demolished the entire thing before before remembering to take a picture. The preserved lemon totally makes the chicken tagine dish. It adds extra saltiness to the dish. This place is really, really cheap to eat at.
The restaurant has a top level terrace with good views.Reasonable price and portion size, but more importantly great tasting. We had the lamb and prune targine and mince in tomatoes and egg... delicious
Nice place to have authentic Moroccan cuisine. The seating is cool in the terrace, although chairs are not comfy. Service is good too. Thumbs up.
Amazing food, everything we ordered was delicious. Favourite was the lamb and Apricot Tagine.Great prices and good view of the hustle and bustle downstairs.
Food is so good... we paid 330 Mad for 1 starter and 3 mains, 4 cokes zero and tea. very good value for money... great customer service.
The food is outstanding, full of flavour, well arranged on your plate, nice attention to details. The service was great, 2 very shy young man helped us, both of them were lovely and smile. The place is cute, very cute, you can see the chefs preparing the food as you go to the rooftop, the view is surreal, I loved it.My only suggestion for the owners would be to play some traditional Moroccan music to cherry up the atmosphere, but overall all a great place to go for lunch or dinner. (keep in mind they do not serve drinks with alcohol)
Great spot. We saw it from a distance and hunted it down. Around 6pm Sat, we had no problem getting a table up on the top floor. We had a lovely meal against the sunset. The food was pretty tasty and hit the spot. We had lamb skewers, veg cous cous, and pumpkin soup.I agree with other reviewers that its slightly overpriced but dont let that put you off if you can afford and extra 10euro and the steep climb.
Average tourist restaurant.Be prepared to walk up two flights of steep stairs. We had the Lemon Chicken Tagine and the Chicken Pastilla. The Lemon Chicken Tagine comes with no extras so order something if you want more than just chicken. The Chicken Pastilla is a combination of sweet and savory that makes you wonder why they have been separated for so long. If you want something, different try it.It is to find with Google maps.
Good place for a quick pit stop when visiting the Medina. Has a nice terrace view and the food is nice.
Being lost in the maze of alleyways in the Medina I stumbled across Cafe Zaza. You must be well on foot to climb the steep and narrow staircases. But youll be rewarded with a nice view on the rooftop terrace. I had Zaalouk, a tasty Moroccan eggplant salad together with a fresh avocado-orange juice. The food was good. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. Id go there again.
Nice little cafe and restaurant, simply and perfect for a relaxed dinner.
Nice place for having lunch and breakfast. It has a beautiful view over the small square near Place Jamma el Fnaa.Friendly staff, good food for reasonable prices.Wi-Fi Connection available
Great small place where one can taste lovely home coocked meals. The place is unsuitable for large groups, but the quality of food is one of the best we had on the medina.
Been 4 days in Marrakech, and I can definitely ensure that Chez Zaza its one of the best places to eat !Superb staff, wonderful food, good prices and amazing terrace! Its just perfect.Regards from Portugal
A very cool place to visit for lunch or dinner! Good food at good prices! I would return in the future :)
Seriously delicious traditional Moroccan food - the best we had in Marrakech and possibly Fes too. We were the only ones up there at sunset and enjoyed awesome intro olives, vegetable couscous and the lamb and prune tajine which was the star of the meal. We recommend! Follow the steep red stairs up after youve made your way through the busy souks. The two mains and a bottle of water cost around 120 dh.
Small family run restaurant - good value and taste. Off the main street away from all the noise but still part of the action. Very good service, despite minimal English.Tried the lamb Tajine and loved every bit of it!!Very moroccon and local taste.
Friendly, quick service with good food, only small portions but thats probably how it is in Morocco. Not the cheapest with local standards (5-7 eur for a main coursebut definitely the best meal we had in Marrakech. Its in the middle of the Medina (the endless bazaar maze in the center), so not too easy to find but it was worth it. Great view from the roof terrace to the bazaar.
