Café Bernabé Gourmet in Armenia

Its a shame that this place is so unassuming, because the food and coffee are superb. Your venture through the narrow door and up the stairs is rewarded with a stylish and inviting cafe/restaurant with balconies overlooking Calle Real. Theres a beautiful garden with panoramic view out the back.The ribs were a masterpiece: nicely smoked and served with homemade barbecue sauce, grilled pineapple and arepas. The menu could be characterized as local classics with an inventive twist. The kitchen considers tourists well: purified water is used for the ice and washing the side salads, so we could enjoy both without issues afterwards.You have a huge choice of coffee - your preference of V60, Chemex, Aeropress, espresso, etc. Their house variety has a nice orange flavour note.This is just about the only restaurant in Salento where the waiter was comfortable speaking some English. He was very friendly and attentive.

Very cozy place, several good options, friendly service, reasonable prices,and delicious food. Would recommend.

We eat for the pleasure of it, we go to great distances for good restaurants and we go to famous chefs & Michelin stars frequently. Soo I believe I have well trained tastebuds and have seen very competitive benchmarks. This place has THE best ribs I have ever eaten. Chocolate cake is excellent! If I lived here I’d have gout from the ribs :)

Top-notch restaurant, impeccable service, cozy vibe and great atmosphere. Lovely balcony to face crowded street that captures so well the Colombian beautiful spirit.Food was exquisite! Bonus points they have artisanal beer that they make themselves. IPA was inspired choice! Very good cocktails too! Couldn’t recommend this enough!

Lovely restaurant with great staff. We had the Buddha bowl and steak which were both excellent.

Lovely place and tasty food, had Buddha bowls and they were delicious. However, we arrived at 8:30pm, and they close at 9pm. When asked if its still ok to order the waiter said no problem. We ended up waiting for a FULL HOUR for our (simpleorder. That just shouldnt happen hence the 3 stars.

I just love everything about this place. The interior, the vibe, the staff, and even the history of this place.To top it off, food is delicious! Although we had to wait quite some time for the food, it was definitely well worth the wait!This place definitely deserves more people in it!

The place is nice and cosy. But.. I asked for medium meat and Ive got it completely rare. The perconell didnt react to my remarks. No exuses, nothing. So I just paid for a dish that I cannot eat

The servers are friendly & knowledgeable and the food is amazing. The filet with coffee red wine blackberry reduction is amazing. The chocolate cake is amazing and i dont normally enjoy cake. Ive eaten at places many times the price with way less quality. Highly recommend.

Came here twice during my stay in Salento. Delicious buddha bowls with fresh ingredients! Portions are relatively small but fairly priced.

The food is very delicious and made with love and passion. My husband liked especially the Creation of Lomo saltado he got with the plata surpresa.The service is great and the value for money too.

Very friendly service, good coffee... the rest was rather in need of improvement. The lemonade was mixed poorly leaving big ice pieces... All, but all dishes are decorated with oregano... The burger was small and dry, the potatos fridge cold. The filet mignon was good but not evenly prepared. We were disappointed, especially due to the high reputation of this restaurant. Ive heared about the bad employment conditions of the kitchen staff and therefore cannot really recommend this restaurant. Maybe things will change in the future for good.

Great food, good portions and prices. Great atmosphere. Recommended making a reservation. We didnt have a reservation but still got seated right away. It was busier when we went for dinner. Service was good, menu in english and some of the staff spoke english.

Great food and excellent service. The meat is so delicious in Colombia and even more so there. We had 2 different cuts and both were juicy and perfectly cooked and served with vegetables (very rare to eat salad). The staff is very attentive to the guests needs and always smiling. Dessert was incredibly good as well made with local fruits. Make sure you reserve (deposit requiredas it’s very popular amongst tourists and locals, and for those who don’t reserve you will most probably end up sharing your table with other people in high season.

Really relaxed place to have a nice meal. The filet Mignon was cooked perfectly and everything else was really tasty too. Fair prices (33.000 COP for the Filettoo.

Outstanding! Great wine and meat cooked to perfection. The cold-brew martini was amazing. Top-notch joint to unwind after a day of getting lost in the mountains. Also I think Hemingway is getting drunk in the bar.

Delicious steak in a red wine and coffee sauce and lasagne but the lasagne was a bit on the cold side - maybe needed a bit more hearing up. The white chocolate, with orange and cacao nibs was to die for

Nice little restaurant with good variety of choices on menu. The beef was cooked as ordered, sauce was delicious. Service was quick. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food 👍🏻

Great restaurant, i had the salmon and definitely enjoyed it. Good food for a fair price. The staff was friendly and atmosphere is good. This place is often full so try to make an reservation (would recommend sitting outside). Only weird thing was that they were already fully closing the place down while people were still in the middle of their dinner. Would definitely recommend though.

We had a very good lunch. If you sit outside you can see the beautiful landscape. Yet, the place is a bit more expensive but the food is worth it. The salmon was great and we also had the mushrooms.The coco lemonade was one of the best and their coffee was of premium quality as well as home made ice cream,

Im its a nice atmosphere but the food is whatever! In fact its disappointing... Had the steak, meat was good qual but the sauce was weird, to sweet, the first taste is like wow interesting, after that is to much you just have to force it in. The portabellos appetizer was of also hard to eat. Mushrooms completely undercooked, u know they need to get juicy not dry... Anyways kitchen need some improvments here. I dont understand how they have a near 5 star rating on here.

This was sooooo delicious! We went there a second time the next day and it got even better than the first time. 🤯 Also, the vegetarian meals are great.

Cafe is just off the main tourist Street. The internet was around 30 Mbps which is pretty incredible for somewhere so rural. Food was good. The coffee was good. The service was wonderful as well. Nice garden.

Awesome little place just off the main strip and before the big set of stairs. Theres great music and excellent coffee.

The food was delicious, but the service was inconsistent. We received our drinks and waited 45 minutes before any food came out. We received our entrees first and they were very good. Then after we were finished with our entrees we asked for the check but the waiter apologized and said we still had our salads coming. The post-entree salad was so-so.

Most gourmet restaurant in Salento, for a totally affordable price. The terrasse is lovely, just next to a beer bar with live music. Service is friendly and attentive. The beef with coffee and blackberry sauce was OUTSTANDING, and the passion fruit cheesecake as well (though all the desserts looked amazing). Only negative point: both meat dishes came only lukewarm, but this unfortunately seems common in Colombia. Book in advance, this place is no secret any more :)

This is most probably the best restaurant in Salento.We were here with a couple of friends in November 2018, and our waiter, Andres, was absolutely lovely.The food is incredible too, thanks to the French cook.Thanks for an unforgettable evening!

Outdoor seating is quaint and cosy. They serve delicious cheesecake called lulo cheesecake. The pasta beef noodle was not bad as well.

A good cafe with good cake. The hot chocolate was. They were almost out of milk when we were there which was weird. Go buy some more!

Cool place, with a nice and authentic style. The music is definitely a good choice to enjoy those amazing dishes that they cook, I hardly recommended anything on the menu. The service is also good, however it open a bit late, we were waiting one hour and a half that the time that says on Google.

Nice place to have dinner (however they serve drinks, snacks & lunch as well during the day). Steak was incredible, hadn’t expected it to be this good. Homemade peppermint lemonade is an excellent refreshment that you definantly should try!

Wow. Im seldom surprised but here seriously everything was there. Excellent food, almost gourmet-like but for a price similar to any other restaurants in the neighborhood. The beef was perfect (both how it was cooked and the quality of the meat), the sauce original and excellent, service warmful and unpretentious. Absolutely great. We even went a second time, which we never do when going on vacation! As a starter the toasts of salmon were also really a surprise. Couldnt more recommend!!!

Food and service were good, however they were out of 5 or 6 items on them menu which made it limited. Otherwise very nice place to eat.

Another amazing coffee experience in Salento. Our server walked through all the steps of the coffee crafting experience - from the sniffing of the freshly ground beans, grown locally - to the pour over and respective timing of the watering process. Accompanied by a chocolate and pepper confection, the coffee was sipped overlooking an amazing valley with clouds playing hide-and-seek with the mountain tops. Decent dinner option. Menu’s ok and the setting one of the nicer in the town.Had delays getting food but they made up for it with free starters. Good to see they make the effort for a small issue!

The food is excellent. Extremely well prepared and with amazing flavours. Try the salmon, I think it is the best dish I have ever had! I have add beef too and it was also excellent! If you are in Salento please do not leave before going to Bernabe for a meal :)

Came here for the coffee experience and I was very pleased. I thought it was just a cafe, but it is a gastropub, that I hope to return to for a meal. They serve coffee using many different methods, but I chose French press (7,000COP). The server brought setup the French press, hot water and scale in front of me, then described the coffee being served, let me smell it, then measured the exact portions of coffee and water to prepare the cup of coffee. The service was above and beyond and I would highly recommend this place if you enjoy precisely prepared, high quality coffee. My girlfriend had here favorite hot chocolate in Salento here as well.

This place is the most amazing place! Get the Fillet Mignon its to die for. Medium rare perfection, also the potatoes are a great side dish... we will be back on Friday after our hike 😍😍

This place is amazing! I got the fillet mignon med rare and it was one the best steaks Ive had. Perfectly cooked. Staff were all excellent and very attentive. Menu all sounded delicious. Id eat here every night if I could
