Cafe Berlin in Akureyri

Cafe Berlin is my favorite place to stop for breakfast when I am going through Akureyri. I always leave feeling extremely full. Everything I have ordered there has been delicious. If you are traveling through Akureyri and are looking for an amazing breakfast, do not look any further than Cafe Berlin. And on your way out, be sure to buy some macarons.

Great breakfast & brunch options. Hot chocolate is immensely good too. Order at the counter :)

Breakfast here was really good. We had ham and cheese sandwiches and a latte for me.

The food was OK. Big dish and all fresh.The place is very small, very crowded and so noisy.Both from the bar and the main door.It just felt like a ruckus.. Not very nice in the morning while trying to enjoy a calm breakfast.

Stopped by for coffee. The blueberry Skyr cheesecake was surprisingly good. Very hot inside the cafe.

We came in this town after viewing Godafoss falls, wanted to grab breakfast. We got the egg and bacon, and the salmon and avocado. Food was good but the cashier was a bit rude. You have to order and pay before sitting down. Would recommend this place for a quick bite.

Even though its Illy brand, I enjoyed ones in Warnemunde and Amsterdam more than this one.

Okay, this place was great but I have to laugh at it a bit here. The only type of sauce/ dressing was that ring you can see around my plate. It was literally the most simple thing, but it was still good and the staff was very friendly! This place did have charging spots you could use as well, and it was one of the only locations open at the time which we were thankful for.

Breakfast was OK mostly but the main waiter spoiled the experience. Not only was he unfriendly and arrogant, he spent all of his attention on a very young female co-worker, and it was so obvious that it really annoyed us. I think she was the only one in the room who didnt notice (or didnt want to notice).After reading more reviews, I am surprised the guy still works there. It seems that management has not yet discovered the Google reviews. He should be fired immediately before the damage is permanent.

Came here to grab a bite for lunch. Had the keto plate, very good with spices. Wife had the chicken sandwich, good as well.

I should not say their food was not good; their food was tasty but the portion size was just too too small. If we pay 30-40 USD for a breakfast meal, we would expect the portion of the food something reasonable, not too small that we have to go to another place to eat something!

Pretty decent place for a quick bite

Beautiful café right in the center of the town. We have the “Huevos rancheros” and the “Waffle and bacon” and both were delicious! They offer refill on coffee which is a plus! Highly recommended!

Delicious! Home made- great especially after plain boring hotel buffets. Healthy, fresh and welcoming staff. Even had stevia for their great Illy coffee.

It’s a small place and unassuming, but they have amazing breakfasts. I have visited a few times and am never disappointed. Huge portions and good coffee!

The service was disappointing. We ordered two brunches. We got the waffles when we were leaving. We never got the coffee which should be included in the brunch menu. However, the guests sit next to us got everything even they came later than us.

Great breakfast, great service. The fruit on the side was fresh and delicious. The gentleman running the front counter is a model of efficiency.

Food and coffee here was excellent. The service was disappointing as the waiter was extremely rude and unfriendly, we got the impression that we were not welcome.

Quaint restaurant. We were there for an early breakfast and were not disappointed. The eggs were just perfect and the coffee was roasted and tasted amazing.

We went here for lunch today - the BBQ chicken sandwich was delicious & cooked to perfection. We also got the greek yoghurt and waffle with caramel sauce which were both so delicious! Would definitely recommend!

Small, charming and a great place for quality breakfast/brunch. Seating may be a problem as it gets crowded. The quiche with vegetables was wonderful with quality fresh ingredients and a beautiful presentation with parmesan remincent of snow on a mountain. The eggs and waffles equally delicious and made to order.

We stopped by for breakfast and it exceeded our expectations. All of the food was perfect and coffee refills were easy to get. A nice change from the usual fare you can find in Iceland.

This used to be one of my favorite places but the staff there has become so rude that I will not spend my money there again. For example today we had planned to go there for Sunday brunch. We called there at noon and they told us they were open until 3 pm. We arrive at 1:30 and they tell us they have decided to close because they are too busy. Yet there are at least 3 empty tables. They did not say that they were sorry or if we would like to come back tomorrow. Just a flat NO. We felt humiliated.

We were definitely not impressed. Obviously overrated by locals or friends on social media. Been there a few days ago (08/2021for breakfast and as we entered we were immediately informed that the coffee machine was broken. I was like, what? You are in the center of Akureyri and your machine is broken?! Your machine must be the pulsing heart of any cafe worldwide. We were served instead filtered coffee. Lol. About food nothing exceptional again. Considering what they charge,( a lotportions and taste are average. They even charged me 2euro for an additional slice of bread. Small lounge and poor lit with some bulbs not working. Good things was personnels generally cordial and they employ/train young people, probably students.

Well, in May of 2021, I was suppossed to be in Berlin. But due to various border restrictions in play at the time I had opted to go to Iceland instead. So when I found a place called Cafe Berlin while in Akureyri during my Iceland road trip, I knew I had to go in.Place was definitely busy, but somehow I lucked out and managed to snag a table with a minimal wait. I opted for a breakfast platter featuring smoked salmon, tomato, avocado, mushroom, fruit, cheese, and a very thick piece of toast. Included was an Orange Juice and coffee (which very importantly had free refills!). But the best part was the fact that after finishing my main plate, there was the waffle. Which was a fantastic way to top off my meal and keep me going until dinner that night.Its a neat little place, and would certainly recommend it.

Very small portions. Went there with my wife and ordered avocado toast on the menu. We got 1/2 slice of toasted bread and 1/2 of avocado for 1.300 kr each. We went out of the restaurant more hungry than when we came in.

My wife and I really enjoyed our time at Cafe Berlin. The food was delicious and the price wasn’t very high. We definitely went all out, ordering large plates and different types of juices/drinks. When we visit Iceland again, it’ll be on one of our stops.

Great little spot for breakfast and lunch. Coffee was perfect and a great selection of hot teas.We got the brunch plate and the BBQ chicken. I really enjoyed the brunch plate. It’s like a build your own, so I made avocado lox toast.Treat yourself and get a chocolate chip cookie or a waffle!

Good spot for a traditional breakfast. It’s about 35-40$ usd for two people. They have cheaper options like avocado toast for around 10-12$. There’s a chili option but that just means pepper flakes not what you might think of as traditional chili. We found this to be the best option in town.

What a lovely cooked breakfast we have just had. Plates full of food and a mix between meat and fruit. Fantastic service. Happy we came here and would recommend for anyone staying here.

Ordered 1 of the Brunch menu, Bacon and Egg, nice heavy brekkie with juice, coffee & waffle! Just need to remind the staff to serve the waffle, everyone did that. A busy cafe in the late morning.

I acutally dont know where to start and what to say.. If I could rate it 10 then I would probably rate it 12! 👌🏼 Its a great little caffe with extra delicious food, awesome coffee (Illy), very friendly staff, good prices and top of that - they open early (8:00 amwhich is very rare to see in Iceland. The breakfast I had was amazing! Big portion and tasty as heck! 🤤 I got a lot of bacon, egg on top of chubby slice of bread with Smjör on side (Icelandic butter), big mushroom and few pieces of fruit (pineapple, melon, watermelon and orange); my fiancee got smoked salmon with avocado, tomatoes and rest of side stuff like me. Addition to that, we had coffee with fresh orange/apple juice. If you think this is everything - then youre wrong. 😊 Waitress is waiting for you to finish with the meal so she can bring you 2 caramel waffles. 🐷 This is quite a big breakfast/brunch meal. Ive paid for my meal approx. 20€, which seems like a lot, but I think this is pretty normal for Iceland or even a bit cheaper then I used to pay/see; when you add on top of that the amount of food you get.. No words needed. Definitely a treat! This is a must stop place to eat and enjoy! 🔝

Far less touristy than a lot of nearby spots, and great spot for breakfast or brunch foods - they even serve eggs and yogurt late into the afternoon. Decent prices for Iceland too! Cozy and smaller with a decent amount of seating.

The best coffee I have had in Iceland. Delicious breakfast was a lifesaver after 12 days of terrible hotel breakfasts. Reasonable prices....as always with the qualifier "for Iceland". Free WIFI. We spent a pleasant couple of hours here planning the rest of our trip. Most of the other customers seem to be locals. Friendly and efficient service.
