Corner cafe doling out classic Lebanese specialties in a no-nonsense setting.
So yummy. Tried the Messa Sampler and strongly recommend. Everything was nice and fresh tasting, well spiced, and falafel was soooo good. And Ive eaten a lot of falafel. Cool art on the wall. Very hospital workers. Nice Cafe vibe.
Always great to see vegan options clearly labeled. The portions were very generous. I had the pumpkin king roll up which had great seasonal flavors. Nice modern decor.
I loved the fried eggplant roll with harissa and hummus and the Beirut veggies. Really friendly service, everything is freshly prepared and the portion sizes are generous for the price (<$13 without tipfor the pita roll. Lovely casual setting in the heart of JP, not too far from JP Pond
Horrible food dry like cooked a week beforehand it hard as a rock. ColdServer ask did want doggie bag i said no lady i want to leave it here. No trash can. I should ask for refund
Got a chicken shawarma sandwich to go. Very good, and huge!
Terrible! No place for a negative star but should be. Reported to Health dept last week and place closed Friday by health dept
This is some of the best middle eastern food I’ve ever eaten anywhere. Vegetarian dishes are exquisite - highly recommend the seitan shawarma, the halloumi shish (so well grilled!!), and the fried okra. Dolmas are also amazing. Every bite of the pita wraps were dripping in flavor. Portion sizes are huge and food is very reasonably priced. I’ll be back many many more times.
Best lebanese cuisine, great food. Saad was excellent in helping us, thank you!
This place is very good! Some of the best food I’ve had, and the people are so nice too! Made it such a pleasurable experience :I will be sure to come back next time i am in town!
Everything here is amazing. They use really interesting seasonings and the food has super good flavors. Family business as well. I often get the kebabs but the plates, especially the chicken plate, are very good. Also have a variety of vegan options.
I really liked the chicken there. Food was fresh. Its a clean place. Quiet atmosphere. I would give it 4.5
Let me start this out by saying that I am an Arab man who has lived most of his life in the Middle East. My family still lives there, I say this to preface my review as it indicates I know what I am talking about. On the day of Arafah I decided to get a bunch of food for this restaurant to break my fast. I was beyond disappointed. The Shish Tawouk (chicken kebobwas disgustingly rubbery. The chicken shawarma also lacked flavor and was a bland mesh of rubbery chicken and Tahina sauce. The mezza platter only had two Wara 3nab (grape leaves). The only somewhat decent things were the Falafel sandwich and Fatoush salad. Never going here again, easily the worst Lebanese food I have had in Boston.
Amazingly delicious. Very fresh ingredients. Short staffed but very friendly! Highly recommended.
I ordered a Romaine (gardensalad with fried cauliflower and baba ghanouj. However, there were several obviously spoiled spinach and other types of leaves hidden underneath. Also, there was a marinated slice of red onion that was clearly past its prime. I would have preferred a smaller portion without the unwanted add-ons. The cucumbers, roasted red bell peppers, and baba ghanouj were delightful. The fried cauliflower was sensational. If you haven’t been to Cafe Beirut before, I would recommend studying the menu before you go. It is confusing unless you are a genius- I had a meltdown the first time I went there. You might get yelled at for ordering incorrectly.
Cafe Beirut is a favorite spot of mine in JP, the food is always delicious and the staff are kind, talented at what they do and quick to prepare a wonderful meal.
I got the veggie grill plate and everything was perfect! Especially loved the grilled eggplant, will be coming back for sure!
My favorite Lebanese restaurant in Boston. The schwarma is so tasty!
I love this place and they have one of the best spots to be in on Centre Street. They always ready and the food is always hot. I love there Pita bread. The rice. The lamb! The shrimp is made so perfect this place makes my mouth water. I love it.
Very nice & scrumptious & nutricious felafel type eats. Tot Vegan 2! (Alwayz a big plus).. They make up very delish eats here & "dense" in a good way!! Very fresh & also NOT "rock hard" felafel, meaning moist & chewable as compared to some middle eastern eats other places where you wonder if the felafel is actually some type of "nuts" substitute, really good here! We walked in without ordering ahead and ordered 8 wraps, they were all ready within like 10-12 mins, these 2 guys work diligently in the kitchen. We took it to go, however this place is CLEAN, very clean! All 8 of us loved their wraps and everyone got a different variation. Their very FRESH, Tahini was way above average and their humus was so fresh you can slightly smell the fresh garlic and chick peas! Will deffn come back here wen in the mood for this type eats!
Discovered via an Off the Beaten Path Food Tours of JP, this spot is now a family staple! Highly recommended to everyone! I wish their delivery range was a little wider so that I could order it even more often. No matter your dietary need, you can find something here. And the care they take to craft their specials is like a fine dining institution. A friendly, delicious spot.
This place is incredible! Been coming here for years now. First time on a date with a Lebanese girl, and then I fell in love. Authentic Lebanese food, filled with love and flavor, with that homemade taste to it. Food that takes time and effort to make. Real, actually real food. Their bowls, salads, and rolls are unbelievably delicious, and the price is friendly. I’m happy Cafe Beirut is still standing after the pandemic. Definitely a gem in our community and neighborhood.
Tried Cafe Beirut for the first time a few days ago. Placed a pickup order for 2 different roll-ups, 1 lamb/beef and 1 falafel. I was not aware that ingredients that are usually served cold elsewhere would be heated up inside the roll-ups, like the lettuce, tomato, and slices of cucumber. They were scorching hot, and in addition, the falafel and beef tasted like they were made a week ago and cooked in bad/old oil, which in total just ruined the meal. After a few minutes of discussing what to do, my partner and I sadly had to throw out 90% of the food we bought.Scorching hot lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and spoiled flavors is the reason Im here writing a review because I just dont understand how this happened. To my understanding, the purpose of those ingredients are to add freshness and texture. I would suggest a new method of cooking the rollups more like a rolled up wrap, adding the cold stuff before wrapping it up, rather than adding all ingredients and then cooking it up on a griddle, burrito style. Just my opinion, let me know if Im living in another dimension. All people who gave this place 4-5 star reviews - is it usually like this??
Super delishus. I got halloumi wrap and my girl got kofta wrap. Halloumi sooooo good! Lentil soup delish but more like curry.
Great Lebanese food. Zaatar vinaigrette and falafel were amazing
In almost ten years of living in Boston, the only place I will go back for their shawarma (beef and lamb is my go to so far). There was one in Central Square that was good too but havent been there in years. I need a lesson on my middle eastern food and all the different takes on shawarma but I grew up with Syrian shawarma in Houston as my favorite. Cafe Beirut I believe its Turkish. And with their pita, braised pork and lamb, spice level and ratio of vegetables, I love this place in JP!
I liked the vegetarian dish, also the red snapper. The kabobs were a little bit overcooked. Overall I think the red meat and kabobs are not top notch in this place. But their fish, vegetarian dish and stews are good. They do not have dine in in the pandemic. Maybe it will become available in the future...
Great value. Everything was tasty, and we ordered many things. I think the lady behind the counter who helped guide my girlfriend and I through the menu and cashed us out was a shining star. She made us felt warmly welcomed, more than happy to help us, explain item specifics on the menu, and was just very hospitable. I dont know if she is the owner or not but her presence and the value will have me back. It feels like a very inclusive place too.
Their food is exquisite! I love their tabulah so much! The finger baklava was super yummy as well. The coffee was good. I will be coming back for sure!
Really excellent babaganouj —flavorful, smokey, and it also must have a good dose of paprika or harissa in it because it is reddish-orange in color (never seen that before). The toum (“garlic whip”is also fantastic and takes anything you order from here to the next level in flavor. Definitely get it if you like garlic!I ordered a seitan shawarma platter and it was HUGE! Easily two meals. It’s exciting they have a vegan shawarma option (my first time ever getting something like thisand it was juicy but definitely needed the toum to make it delicious. But luckily for me, I had it :)The pita that came with the platter was dry and not homemade, but it served its purpose of dipping into sauces just fine.Overall a good experience and I’ll be back. Looking forward to trying the falafel.
While the order was completed on time, and the portions were large, unfortunately the food was fairly flavorless despite copious amounts of grease and spices (visible). I love lebanese food, and have ordered from Cafe Beirut over the decade Ive lived here, and am sad to see a JP mainstay change so much. I hope they can make improvements to the flavor and quality of their food.
One of my go-to spots in JP!! The chicken kabob is sooo flavorful and juicy. I almost always get the Ploughman wrap (great flavor, not soggy, so much food for the pricebut have started trying different Mezze items and have been impressed by the hummous, vegetarian grape leaves, feta & mint, and the fried cauliflower ooooo it’s all so good!! I love you Cafe Beirut
Worst Lebanese food I have ever eaten, or tried to eat. I had a delivery. The fatoosh salad had no pita bread and was just watery chopped vegetables, pilaf overcooked. Everything on the mixed was inedible, CAKED with spices that I had to wash off. The kibble was cold inside. The grape leaves watery. Glad I tested it out before ordering for guests.Stick with Al Wadi. Worth the drive.
When Gods grow tired of food in Paradise, they dont go, as many might think, to a French Restaurant, no, they go to a Lebanese Restaurant.I am still on the fence with the Cafe Beirut. I have eaten here now a few times, usually ordering a Shawarma and some Humus. The humus is always fantastic. Some of the best that I have eaten. The Shawarma has been at times absolutely delicious, an at other times pretty dry. In all cases I picked up the food and walked just a few 100 meters to my apartment, so it is not that the food food got cold and stale. Still, when the food was good, well, the Gods are right.
Ordered fried cauliflower, fried okra vegetables and grilled eggplant and food taste like toilet water. I’m only giving it one star because the guy at the register was very friendly. I was very disappointed because the description on the menu sounds and looks enticing. The portions are generous. Maybe it’s the cook. Food was gross. Maybe they’re trying to get rid of it because the food belongs in the trash. 🤢
Some of the best middle eastern food Ive ever had and some of the best food in the area in general. Hands down the best food in JP - this is a must-try if you enjoy any type of middle eastern cuisine. Portions are sizable and the food holds up exceptionally well for take out!
Visiting a friend in JP who took us here to get lunch to go. Excellent baked lamb roll up! Tender meat with a nicely crisped pita. Very friendly proprietor. Happy to accommodate dietary restrictions. Will def go again next visit!
We got the falafel and shawarma roll ups to go last night and they were delicious and just the right amount of spicy. They ask you if you want it spicy before you order which I also really appreciated. Friendly staff, fast service, and great food.
My new favorite restaurant. The food is soo delicious, flavorful and fresh its crazy. People say the prices are a bit high, but the freshness, flavor and portions make up for it. Will definitely be back I have to try everything on the menu.
I just had the BEST falafel wrap this afternoon! It wasn’t dry like falafel can often be. It was the perfect level of spicy and it came sans tomatoes just as I asked. My husband had a lamb shawarma and he also raved about how incredible it was.The man who took my order was kind, quick and efficient. All employees were wearing masks/gloves and the restaurant was clean and set up well for proper social distancing measures. Our order was ready in only 10 minutes and the food was fresh and delicious! It was packaged securely so that we could easily take it with us to Jamaica Pond and eat it without having to touch the actual food with our hands.And—-the total was only $21. for two giant wraps and a 25% tip! This place is bringing their A-game and we will surely be back. Thanks for making the quarantine more bearable, Cafe Beirut!Stay safe everyone. :-)P.S. I am sorry I didn’t include photos. We ate too quickly!
Lots of food! Prices are reasonable. The mezze sampler was enormous. And the roll up definitely 👌 filled me up. It might be a normal 2 person roll up. Will be back.
Very fair prices and big servings. All of the ingredients were very fresh and contained delicious vegetables. I ordered the small hummus for myself and two other people and we still had left overs. One of the best falafel sandwiches I’ve ever had too!
Food was pretty tasty. I will be back.
Had a wonderful meal tonight! This is pumpkin Kobby! It was delicious! I was too full to have the hibiscus rice pudding, so o will be back!
The food was delicious! Staff very nice and accommodating. We tried fried cauliflower, pumpkin kibee, and olives and pickles on our mezza. Perfect! Then had shawarmas. Great atmosphere to relax and eat yummy food.
Shawarma and Mezza sampler was delicious.
I found this little gem by accident trying to find a place to eat but not break the bank in JP. You can choose to either dine in or order take out. The hostess who greeted me was very nice and the food was delicious. If you love middle eastern food I would definitely recommend it for a quick bite or even something longer
Its a gem arround JP. A neat and clean place. Reasonable price and the food is tasty and worth trying. Staffs are really good and explain really good about the food and options. A good art gallery also there inside and you can buy the works if you like.
I have been going here regularly since moving to Boston a couple years ago. It is probably the best falafel I have ever had in my life and it it consistently hits the spot. Great for vegetarian & vegan meals. I often bring people with me and everyone loves it. Tonight my girlfriend said it’s her “favorite place to eat in Boston.” We ate every last bite, it’s so good! It’s affordable, authentic, and the portions are plentiful. Highly recommend.
Good tasting food, adequate portions and good service. The ambience is good too. We did not have to wait long. I do with the tabouli did not have pickles/vinegar in it. Will be coming back for more.
We were hesitant to go walk in but really happy that we did. If youre looking to dine on a budget in a no-thrills atmosphere, this is the place for you! I also liked the art work on the wall.I had the vegetarian pumpkin kibby roll-up sandwich and my partner had the chicken kabob plate. Food is served on paper and/or plastic pates. The food was delicious. Zoom in on the attached picture so you can see all the healthy ingredients. The menu is full of soups, plates, sandwiches and desserts. They also have a rewards program for frequent diners. The guy who takes your order had the most incredible personality and positive attitude. Be sure to enjoy his singing. Something you dont see too often when it comes to customer service. He enjoys his job. Thanks and well be sure to come back.
