Scenic destination with acres of mountain park for visitors seeking waterfall views & hiking trails.
Caesars Head State Park Visitor Center in Greenville
Description
Privilege
The colors were incredible! The parks are always impeccably clean and the staff helpful and smiling!
MoreWhat a phenomenal day spent here. Even had folks helping with parking. When we pulled up it said lot full. The attendant at the front seen my handicap placard and made a point to get my attention. He waved me in and told me where the available spots where. Gift shop was cool. View was amazing. Restrooms where clean. Staff where so very friendly and helpful.
MoreSpectacular views of Paris Mountain to Table Rock! Unfortunately some people scarred the viewing area with graffiti. Hard to believe people would trash such a pretty place.
MoreGreat views. Easy access for all. Great gift shop. For the more adventurous go for a hike. Keep driving and visit Pretty Place.
MoreThe overlook at the Caesars Head State Park Visitors Center is not to be missed. The view of the surrounding landscape is stunning and the walk through Devils Kitchen is a wonderful experience.
MoreI have been to Caesars head more times, than I can remember. The natural formations and views are spectacular. I understand why they put up the fences and blocked some of the trails, but I wish the visitors, that have only been coming here for a few years, could experience these gems.
MoreThis is a great view of the upstate from the beginning of the mountains. If your driving by its worth stopping just to see it. There are a couple hiking trails that originate here so parking can fill up. The gift shop always has pleasant staff and very knowledgeable of the area.
MoreCaesars Head State Park is a perfect example of a well maintained and beautiful state park. Visit any time of year and I guarantee you wont be disappointed.
MoreThe clerk behind the desk was very friendly and informative. She went over the entire map with us. We appreciated her time and knowledge.
MoreAbsolutely amazing place to see a great view. We didnt know it but we were able to see Raptors " birds like eagles, hawks, kites, falcons etc. A must see for nature livers and mountian view seekers. They have great picnic tables, drink machines, and a gift shop. No hard hike and really clean place..
MoreOne of my favorite destinations in SC! The beautiful drive, the views and the easy walking paths make this a great destination for our out of town guests, even if they have limited mobility. Although parking can fill up pretty early on weekends, cars tend to come and go fairly quickly. There are public restrooms but no trash receptacles, so if you picnic on one of their nearby tables, plan to haul out your own garbage.
MoreAbsolutely beautiful. A great place to go if you have a day off work or want to hang out with family/friends
MoreWhat a View! Plenty of parking easy walk to the overlook, and just a short walk through the cravas to view the Caesars Head rock formation, but its been a bit obscured by the trees, but you can see it. Lovely place and nice gift shop. Highly recommend you stop by.
MoreThese places are extremely close to the parking, there’s hardly 100 meters of walk. In this particular vicinity, there’s a lot of parking, picnic tables and a view. Most of the trails are around this area, at least 1-10 miles of drive for different trailheads. There’s a shop and restroom facility too in this area. You can pay the entry fees for other trails in the shop via a credit card to avoid not paying at their starting points, believe it was $3.
MoreBasically a scenic view point and gift/info cabin.Made the mistake of stopping there on our way to Pretty Place which was further down the road. Signage could have been better.Next time we know to pack a lunch, go to Pretty Place first, then on the way back stop there to picnic, see that view and visit the gift shop.
MoreWe stopped by here on accident on the way home from Fred W. Symmes Chapel aka “Pretty Place” and I’m so glad we stopped. You just park, get out and it’s right there! Such a beautiful view. I started heading down into the “Devils Kitchen” and then turned around because it looked sketchy lol but we loved this quick little adventure and I’m glad we found it!
MoreWhat a beautiful place! The roads are narrow and very windy; while they are pretty, be aware of very short 2-lane passes around tight turns/corners that probably should be 1 lane. The overlook near the visitors center is an easy walk with a few steps.
MoreBreathtaking, mesmerizing, its like The feeling of the Lord Jesus is calling you . You can easily get taken away of the Horizon, The view , I felt peace , relaxed , etc , while focusing on Gods blessings . Absolutely Highly Recommended !!!! No doubt in my mind. I hope to visit this beautiful place again .
MoreHad a great time with my bf. The staff was also very nice to us during our visit!
MoreTalk about an incredible view! If you like a good view, this is the place to go. You can see numerous mountain tops and a beautiful lake, just absolutely breathtaking. The clouds sat right on top of us while we were there and it was just absolutely too cool.
MoreI Came from Florida to visit this amazing place I love it so much I will come back to visit this place again ❤️
MoreAwesome place to visit. Make sure to take a panoramic picture at the top.
It a nice State park, but if you are looking to visit Fred Symmes Chapel aka Pretty Place Chapel. You will not find it there. You will find the visitors center and Devils Kitchen.
MoreGreat day trip to visit, hike, or just have a picnic with the family. My kids absolutely love the state park and the staff here is always so friendly. The trees make it really cool even in the hottest of weather and there are so many different species of animals to see.
MoreUnfortunately we had a negative experience with the park employees working in the visitor center this morning. We would have been better off not asking them for directions, as they pointed to the location on the map we should go to and it was the wrong location. When we came back to let them know, they acted like we didnt know what we were talking about. One of the employees told me she "wouldnt know" what the trails were like...We normally love the state parks, but well make sure to steer clear of this one in the future.
MoreIncluded a stop at Pretty Place - Fred Symmes Chapel, Cleveland SC.
Small park store with restrooms and refreshments. Short trail to an overlook with a fantastic view then down through a large crack and back around to the parking lot. Plenty of picnic tables for lunch
MoreBeautiful view, hiking trails are well maintained. Ideal distance and difficulty for me.
MoreAs a resident that lives close by, I always enjoy the sunsets but the park is small and it has become crowded. The lookout is too small for people with dogs and hanging out for long periods. Dont expect a private experience.
MoreA must see if your looking to take a ride somewhere. Its free to see. Picnic tables and friendly staff. Never sure what youll see due to the weather, but always a nice ride.
MoreWe love visiting Cesar’s Head as a destination picnic spot or on the way from Greenville to DuPont State Forest. The viewing platform is easily reachable for older persons or persons with disabilities. Check the weather before you go as weather fronts often slam the face of the mountain; we have visited multiple times when visibility was less than 30 feet.
MoreBeautiful views! Make sure to stop at the Mountain House restaurant for some banana pudding ice cream.
MoreI am so glad we went here! I was blown away by the scenic views and breathtaking landscapes. There was a rainstorm before we got there so the sky was majestic.A (doublerainbow even came out after the 2 minute rain shower we got when we were there watching the sunset. It was BEAUTIFUL!I wish I could go here everyday. It really was so peaceful and you can see the beauty of nature everywhere.
MoreThere is no better scenic view then here! I felt at peace and all my worries faded sitting on this mountain.
MoreRound trip hike to the falls overlook is 4.4 miles. It is a little steep in places but a beautiful hike with a nice overlook and view plus a nice shelter to rest before heading back
MoreWe did the Dismal Loop Trail which is a big loop consisting of various trails. It will take 7-8 hours and is exhausting and physically demanding descending into a valley climbing over all sorts of rocks and trees as well as up and down steep hills.Once you get to the suspension bridge and go across the right half is much much easier. So if you end up on the trail with the warning sign talking about extreme difficulty respect it for what it says because it means what it says! Also one bottle of water per person is not enough. We ran out halfway through the day. So best to have two bottles of water per person and hiking shoes and food bars are recommended.I am 55 and pretty fit but was lucky to make it to the end. So if you havent been here before and are not an experienced hiker or physically fit I dont recommend the Dismal Loop. There are trails for all skill levels here from easy to hard.
MoreBeautiful place here on top of this mountain where the escarpment crosses this area and theres a few hiking trails.
MoreWe passed by here and was amazed with the view. I cant wait to go home this fall so we can hike the trail to the waterfalls. The state park shop has plenty of souveniers with friendly staff. We will surely comeback. Update...came back the nth time and bring our family from out of state.
MoreWe enjoyed our visit to Caesars Head! The view was amazing, the wind was well… windy. But other than that it was such a beautiful experience! Don’t forget to check out the devils kitchen as well the stairs down are a little steep but not to bad!
MoreEven though it was REALLY cold and quite foggy on the day we spontaneously went for a drive, it was still MAGICAL!!! The views from the lookout were incredible and I cant wait to further explore here in better weather and different seasons!
MoreAlways a beautiful view of the mountains a piedmont area below. Wonderful visitor center and friendly, knowledgeable staff.
MoreWe enjoyed our visit to Caesars Head state park! We visited the gift shop and had a wonderful chat with one of the park rangers and the guy running the store. We walked around the park and took pictures and it was easily accessible for us even with our leg and back issues. Such an enjoyable time.
MoreTried the Frank Coggins Trail right across the street from the main office. The lookout is easily accessible, and a beautiful view. Worth the visit no matter how much you do.
MoreGreat little state park to stop at for views of the moutains. Almost no hiking required. There are bathrooms, gift shop, and a picnic area.
MoreCaesars head has been my most favorite go-to spot for a quick weekend getaway when Im feeling lazy to drive farther than a hour to go hiking anywhere. And it has honestly surprised me to find how much more beautiful it looks with clouds ❤️
MoreWhile this place has a lot of tourists its a nice place to get away to. The views are generally pretty good and if youre lucky you might catch a few low level clouds going by which makes the view even better. Also theres this cool little tree growing in the cliff right below the overlook thats pretty neat.
MoreThis place was amazing, it really is a "Pretty Place" tons of view points & a whole lotta sight seeing... I felt @ peace, relaxed & as if I was manifesting the power if the lord 🙏 in the chapel, plus the cliff mountain bridge was cool to walk on... especially @ night time, the amount of stars you could see was breath taking from both sights, it truly was a phenomenal experience that everyone should experience @ least once
MoreVisitors Center Staff was fantastic, lots of people which is always nice to see. Inquired about a Water Fall Hike and was directed to a little known spot that was fantastic. Didn’t see a single person on our 4.6 mile in and out with little signs the trail had been traveled in the past 24 hours. Amazing how cool the weather gets down by the creek and falls.I’d love to see SC Parks utilize a Venmo / PayPal system to collect access and parking fees. I bet your adoption rate would be high 90% and would see a jump in overall revenue collection especially if you also add a “donate option” for people to give a little extra.
MorePerfect stop on your mountain tour. Great views from the nearby overlook. Picnic tables and restrooms available. Great visitors center; buy a souvenir or snack and find out about local trails from the rangers. Raven Cliff Waterfall is my favorite hike.
MoreBeautiful side of the road lookout with fantastic views!! There is a small path at the end of the parking lot and then if you want, there is the steep stairs of the Devils Kitchen which is an area between two rocks and a little path that takes you back to the parking lot.
