We have been to both branches of this gelato shop, in Portoroz and Ljubljana, and both are outstanding. Portions are huge, the flavors are innovative and everything tastes great!

Delicious ice cream at strategic location, close proximity to many attractions

So many different tastes! Along the river right on the centre of Ljubljana. Nice terras and exact right icecream. Vegan fruit options and the greatest dark chocolate icecream I had in a long time. For cow milk eaters there are plenty options, with all kinds of special tastes. Two tastes in a cone makes a huge icecream for 3 Eur. Open till 2200, so a good place for a dessert on the way home.

They have the best ice cream in Ljubljana, the staff are responsive, the view is very nice of course, the prices are good. Overall I recommend for ice cream and coffee.

Tried their ice cream (5 of us, all different flavorsat their walk up stand; everything was amazing! Very delicious & quality ice cream. Nice staff also! Don’t hesitate; go now!

Special Flavor is worth trying.I tried Pistachio and Stracciatella. I would say it tastes good, all aroma are pretty natural. However, I find it too sweet and the waffle cone is only okay. It costs me 3.20€ and able to pay with card. Noted that the pistachio is good for a try.

The best ice cream in town. My favorite is with peanut butter and cookie flavor. Try 1 scoop with 2 flavors option because 1 scoop is like 2 scoops actually :)

Delicious ice-cream. They are very consistent. We have been visiting them for years now. Personally, I would say this is the best ice-cream you can get in the city. It is rich and creamy, full of flavor. And the portions are huge as well. 😀If you’re going out for ice-cream, I definitely recommend you visit this place.It is however always full packed. Especially the sitting area besides the river. You can try your luck inside, on the second floor, if you will not see any empty tables outside. 😉The waiters are fast and efficient and the prices are a bit above average for ice-cream, but definitely worth it.

Large selection of cakes, pies and gelato. The strawberry tart was delicious. They also have coffee, tea and some alcoholic beverages. Reasonably priced and the have free WiFi. Service was quick and friendly.

I love ice cream, so we went to my favorite Giolitti in Rome and sadly they are a shadow of what they were. But founded cacao in Ljubljana wow! Long live the new king

Disappointed. The cacao cake was very underwhelming, very watery, dont know which liqueur they used for it but it did really fit in that cake, also not crazy about the cocoa they use for the cake. The espresso costs 2.3€, but the coffe blend they use is very underwhelming also. Would suggest they up their game, because I like to spend money on good food and drinks but this wasnt worth it.

Amazing ice cream and coffee,Halfscoop of two flavors is a big portion of ice cream.Maybe I would recommend better waffle cones as they served ones were kind of tasteless.Service was super from both the ice cream ladies and male waiters.

I’m so happy that I found this place as they have some choice of sugar free ice cream with stevia sweetener.I took hazel nut and pistachio and it was delicious- one of the best sugar free ice cream I have ever had. So if you have diabetics or are on low carb diet it’s worth trying them. On top they have nice service and nice view

Great dessert and ice cream shop in Liubliana. I was looking for a healthy dessert and they have a low carb chocolate cake and also vegan cakes. (Plus traditional desserts and ice cream). The staff is super friendly. I highly recommend.

Good service and decent cold brew, but really disappointing ice cream. I had the dark chocolate raspberry and it tastes extremely artificial and powdery, it didnt even taste like anything resembling chocolate. The raspberry redeemed it a bit but otherwise it was inedible. I dont really understand why so many people have rated this so highly.

Love the hundreds of different choices of flavours and possibilities @cacao Ljubljana.The staff is very friendly and we didn’t have to wait long for our drinks and ice cream.Loved the banana split (personal all time favouriteand the white wine (Slovenian).

Gianduja was nice but sacher disappointed. Good iced tea but better looking servers. Oh yes, by the river too, so central location but definitely touristy packed.

Very disappointed. We went there because of the nice reviews but the coffee was terrible …very watery, and the cakes ( we tried 3were bad even if in appearance they looked nice, they were very low quality.

Terrible service. We came first to take ice cream to go and the server serves 2 people before us, that came after us. Also Ive seen them ask for a tip, for people that were not even seated (they were taking ice cream to go). Ice cream looks great and smells great, but I wasnt even able to taste it because of unprofessional service. Disappointed!!

Decent and pricey ice cream at a prime location. The wafers were bland.Friendly service. Busy. Good place to rest your legs and do some people watching while enjoying good ice cream.

Stayed in the rooms at Cacao Rooms and it was a lovely experience. Girl who received us very helpful and really nice, rooms very clean and with everything you need as if you were staying in a 4 stars hotel. Located at the city centre, next to Cacao Café and opposite to a lovely terrace where you can seat and have breakfast or just relax with a cocktail in the evenings. I highly recommend this place, thanks for everything Cacao workers.

One of the best ice cream places I have eaten at. They have a huge variety of flavours available. I would recommend the pistachio and the mango flavours.

Considering they are in the absolute center of Ljubljana, their prices are reasonable. Really good ice cream though.

Definitely one of the "most popular" bars in Ljubljana city center ... Location is really great, right by Ljubljanica river and also their offer is rich ... From delicious ice cream, tasty beer, spirits, cocktails, everything... Its cool, I like it 😉 But still, nothing so special that you would really need to ge there ...

Whether is hot chocolate, coffee or ice cream its great to have it here. The Staff is very friendly, the café is always very busy but they serve you with smile.

A very nice pastry bar along the riverside in the city center, where is possible to choose different kind of ice cream flavours, or different kind of cakes. I tested the ice cream that was delicious. The personnel is very friendly and funny. The price is on the line with others places of the city.It’s situated in a very beautifull and romantic area. Really suggested!

Nice place to enjoy an icecream or aperetivo. The place is right at the waterfront. They also have some tables upstairs. We liked the vibe and enjoyed an easy afternoon here. Well be back again. Reccomend

Nice Coffeeshop by the river with a great view of the bridges. Great ice cream and breakfast (also many options for vegans such as many different bowls and drinks with plant based milk). I had the mango bowl and golden milk with oat milk and can totally recommend both. Price-performance-ratio is fair.

Excellent location with breath taking views of the river and the architectures around. Good service and great variety of ice creams and drinks. The Irish whiskey hot chocolate was delicious and great for a cold day! They also have heaters to keep you warm in cold days

I love a good hot chocolate, so i had the 72% one and it was amazing, really thick consistency and strong flavour. Visiting again on my next trip to Ljubljana.

Cakes were amazing very authentic and traditional cakes! Apple pie is brilliant and we ordered a lemon cake was magnificent!Their coffee is perfect as well one of the best in town

Beautiful place at the river. Snatch a spot outside to see the boats and people. Probably more on the pricey side of Ljubljana however delicious milky brew and açaí bowl. The prosciutto tramezini is yummy, however also the wasps think so and will compete with you for a bite - hence if you don’t like wasps don’t order prosciutto.

Delicious krosata! The foam on the cappuccinos was very fluffy. Friendly, prompt service. Worth every euro.

Amazing vegan and gluten free ice cream. The dark chocolate and raspberry is amazing. Only 2€ for a scoop which is what you see in the photo.We went back everyday during our stay.The view is really nice too. Totally a must try in your stay in Ljubljana.

We came here for breakfast in the morning but found out that aside from cake, ice-cream and coffee, they dont offer anything else so if youre looking for an actual breakfast meal, you may want to give this place a skip.With that being said, the cakes and drinks are not bad and the staff are friendly. Not a bad place for desserts.

This place is so good. Waiters are really nice and polite, coffee is decent and cakes are to die for!Raspberry cake is really nice, but the caramel one is an absolute winner. I couldnt finish it because it is a wee bit too sweet for my taste, but Ill definitely order it again! It is served heated, and the mixture of different nuts, caramel topping and the cake is to die for.It is a tad bit pricey, but well worth it. Cakes are about 4 EUR a piece, and coffee is about 2,5 EUR.They are right on the banks of the river, so it is a great place to have your coffee and cakes both when the weather is nice and when it is colder, since the place is quite large inside. Despite the size, the waiting is not long at all.The only minus is having just one toilet, so it can get a bit crowded :)

We stopped here for a coffee and we ended up having ice cream and hot chocolate.First of all, as an ice cream reviewer, the ice cream was too sweet and way off the flavour that I was expecting: açai. Instead of being a balanced and smooth açai flavour was a sour and sweet yoghurt with not much taste of açai.We also order some hot chocolate: imposible to finish given its texture and sweetness. You pay what you get. Orange cake was very delicious (euro 4.4). Sitting on the second floor is more comfortable and cozy though no waitress around. Wait patiently.
