Estrada do Cabo da Roca s/n, 2705-001 Colares, Portugal, Setubal
Viewpoint looking out to sea, part of a national park, with a lighthouse housing a tourism office.
Oh it’s magnificent place, one of a kind. Totally worth visiting if In Portugal, especially during sunset.Take something worm, if you go any time other then summer, it could be windy.Enjoy the magical landscapes.
The place is mesmerizing. Not only it has geographical meaning for Europe, it has only deeply historical meaning as it was the place Europeans started to discover the new world back 5 centuries ago. You can get also a verified certificate for 11 EUR that you visited this monumental point of European soil with your name written in calligraphy.
Beautiful place to watch the sunset. So peaceful to watch the waves in the shore and the ship far away in the sea. It was at the end of October and crowded but not too busy. You can end this visit with roasted chestnuts (Maronithat are sold by an older gentleman right by the entrance.
Visited here when it was quite rainy, but still got to see some lovely views. Hard to manage with the buses and their unknown timings but well worth a visit, especially if the bar/restaurant is still open.
Amazing place with its own undescribable atmosphere. You see the sun setting down somewhere deep in the ocean, that breathtaking view of rocks and cold wind from the unknown. Highly recommend. At the place you can find parking lot, shop and a restaurant, bus stop (including, but not limited to City Sightseeing Bus from Lisbon).p
Great place to visit a historical area. It gets quite windy with forcefull winds. The Lighthouse is also worth seeing. It is the furthur most westerly point on the Euorpean Continent and is well worth a visit. It can get crowded with tourists, so go early. There is plenty of parking available. There are restaurants there and you can get local tourist buses there. A must see.
Cabo da Raco was a beautiful location. It would have been a great place to do a hike, small or long but the weather was not conducive. A place we will return too spend more time
Absolutely Gorgeous!! Makes you think. Go at the sunset time! And dress warm, it’s crazy windy. I even fell, being blown off the ground, trying to take a picture. If you think you are dressed warm enough- add one more layer! Also visit the town of Sintra. Very cute and much cleaner than Lisbon.
This was a really neat place to go in that you are at the most western point in Europe. I found this neat and fun considering I was in Iceland the year before and had crossed into the arctic circle while whale watching. The horizon and the water crashing against the coast is nice. It will not take long to visit this site and is not much to do beside take a few photos and then walk around a bit, still worth going. Most will bring you here as a part of a tour of Sintra/Cascais. We had a private tour guide take us all over (highly recommend)
Wonderful place which for sure will make an impression on evey visitor. It is a must!!! If you use a public transport, please take a bus 403 from Sintra(before it is better to buy a bus ticket in the office because it is cheaper than by the bus-driver).
The most Westerly point of europe, a beautiful place to see the end of the continent. Many places to take beautiful photos surrounded by natural beauty. The lighthouse is well maintained and still in operation. The restaurant and gift shop are well stocked with everything that visitors need when visiting the area. There is free parking, but it may be difficult to find a parking space close to the view points during busy periods so be prepared for some walking. Also recommend a visit to one of the many eateries in the tiny quaint village of Azóia.
Beautiful scenery, gorgeous views and also facilities to enjoy some snacks or a drink. There is small shop and if you buy from it stuff they provide you with receipt to use the bathroom for free.Otherwise you have to pay 50 cents. Also, at the information center you can get a Certificate for visiting the most Western point of Europe. The price is 11€
Its interesting to visit just because of the fact that its westernmost point of Europe. The view is good. Very tourist place. Clear toilet, not for free. There is also cafe, tourist centre.
Beautiful view, really worthy. Still, do not plan to spend more than 45-60 minutes there. Usually is crowded and not many other things to do except starring at the sea ...
Famous spot as the Western most point of Europe. A little busy during the summer months, but the views are spectacular from the cliffs. There are areas just north of the lighthouse to hike and explore as well, away from the crowds.
I’ve hiked here twice in the last two weekends to watch the sunset. It’s glorious here. Heads up: it’s not easy to get an Uber back. You’ll have to take the bus if you didn’t take your own car or bike here.
One can say that this place is a bit underwhelming, but I loved it. The thought that this used to be the end of the world for centuries is fascinating. Looking out in the distance imagining what the men of the age must have thought and felt - definitely worth a visit.
Very beautiful and interesting place, being the most western point of the Europe continent. Be prepared to face different weather. I have been there a few times and each time was a different experience: warm, cold, rain, wind, fog ... Never know what to expect.
Visiting Cabo da Roca is one of the most interesting excursions from Lisbon.I suggest combining it with the nearby town of Sintra. The drive from Portuguese capital takes less than an hour, however I suggest stopping along the way at the town of Cascais.Once there, theres a huge free parking lot.A big stone cross marks the westernmost point of continental Europe. The scenery and views around are outstanding with tall cliffs and rough sea beneath. At the same time you get a special feeling looking out the vast enormous Atlantic in front of you knowing theres nothing out there for several thousand miles till the American continent.
We are at the western end of continental Europe, what can we say? Definitely a bit of excitement to be in this remote corner, but not only. The coast and the cliffs are beautiful, with the underlying waves crashing; the ever-present Atlantic wind that mitigates the summer heat, the column or obelisk with marble tombstone that reminds you with the geographical coordinates where you are, all these are some emotional elements that cannot be described but experienced. To visit!!
Westernmost point of Europe. But you will go there for more reasons than that such as views, seas sound and enjoy nature itself. We went there by bus (around 4,35 euros at the time). If youre in Cascais or Sintra please arrange some time to go there. It worth it.
Till 13th century it was end of world for Europeans…but then they sailed around and discovered about Americans…so now it’s end of the Europe Continent…lovely breeze…great landscapes …small cafe and restaurants…with all basic facilities…a must visit place with one of nicest views near Lisbon….
Amazing 140 meter high cliffs at the end of the old world. The scenery is so incredibly beautiful, prepare for some shivers and goosebumps. If you are staying in Lisbon, you really shouldnt miss visiting this place. Its not so difficult to reach it. You travel by railway to the end station Cascais and there you enter the bus to Cabo da Roca. Its possible to extend the trip and to go further to Sintra, if you have still energy. But I would recommend to stay at this place and to do a little bit of hiking on the beautiful pathways above the cliffs. Especially a hike to the bay in the north Ursa Beach is something you shouldnt miss, too.
One of the most beautiful places in Portugal we have been so far! You should reserve at least 1 hour for photos and contemplation of views. For us, it was almost 3 hours ;)We ware at Sunday in July about 4pm and we didnt have big problems with parking place, but it was a bit crowdy. To shoot really good photos probably better to go out of the season (what we will definitely do in the future).
A breathtaking view from the most western point in Europe. If you are using this public transport bus 403 need careful to have extra time as we needed to wait almost an hour for the bus to although the schedule tells its every 30 minutes.
Really beautiful area at the western most edge of Europe. Theres a small monument along with a couple buildings and shops near by. The trails near by are short but the views are beautiful. Taking in the view is peaceful because it makes you feel so small compared to the earth as a whole. It was peaceful. I recommend making the trip - its not too far out of the way
Beautiful place to visit, easy to reach by car (and a short drive in Lisbonor by bus, well worth the effort. Cabo da Roca offers stunning cliffs with ocean waves underneath, excellent photo opportunities and overall great feeling of visiting western most point of continental Europe.
THE EDGE OF THE WORLD!!!!! The coolest views and hikes ever. Dress up for the heavy winds and make sure to wear shoes that can be used for hiking and climbing for the most amazing views. So close to Lisbon and a must see.
Had an amazing experience while visiting this beautiful place. You need to hike for around 30-35 min to go down to the beach so make sure to wear comfortable shoes and fromthe top hill, you can enjoy the panoramic view, it’s worthwhile ✔️
The Portuguese coast remains unbeaten. The western-most point of Europe couldnt be more breathtaking. Two very beautiful views, one to the lighthouse, and the other after a minor slope, to the rocks. Its very windy and the surface can be moist and unleveled. Watch your steps and enjoy the scene! If you ride a motorcycle you cannot miss this stroll, the road is amazing.
So many people are here. But if you want some space I advise to go to Forte do Espinhaço.To Cabo da Roca is going direct bus. Also on the territory you can find nice cafe with drinks, ice-cream and other food (other department). If you buy something youll get QR code for going to the toilet.
Great ocean view.A lot of people on weekend but still worth it. Easy to come by car, there is a parking lot near it.It is a perfect place for meeting sunset 🌅
Cabo da Roca. A great place where Europe ends and the Atlantic Ocean begins. Beautiful views, landscape and cliffs. A lighthouse and a certification point for reaching the end of Europe. I recommend seeing this place. Amazing impressions. There is also a restaurant where you can eat tasty. 🤩😍😀
Its a really lovely place to go, very windy as expected so hold your phones very tight. Views cant be described with words, enough to say you can feel overwhelmed with the ocean. Road to this place is very demanding of the driver and the car so I dont recommend driving tired or with bad car.
A tourist heavy spot with stunning views of the coastline and featuring the western most point of Continental Europe. Definitely worth the trek to capture some great photos. Easily accessible by bus as well!
This place is a must visit. It was my favorite part about Portugal. It marks the most western part of Europe and the views and weather here are stunning. Nature really is surreal here
It’s the most western point of Europe, beautiful sights and feels amazing standing on the top. “Where the land ends and the sea begins”. Recommended spot to visit
Very calm place .. very quite.. the view was very nice and precious.. you can go there with public transportation.. very easy to go ….Highly recommended…
The most western point of Europe. An incredibly unique spot where can you admire nature in all his majesty. If you like to hike I recommend to come here from Sintra, there are lots of nice view and landscape, of course its tough.Otherwise, as all people do, you can arrive by bus or car.If you walk a little there is a paradisiac beach nearby (Playa Ursa)
One of the greatest places Ive seen ☺️ the ocean was so big and the feeling of being there was so overwhelming it brought tears to my eyes. If fed my soul, it was like I was greate as well just being there 😍 the field from the cliff we were standing was so green and full of flowers and the way the water hit the rocks below us made me mesmerized... It was nice to be at "the end of the world" 🔝
Incredible place! Make you feel like a king of the world! Also amazing inspiration and feeling of freedom. If you need to charge your emotions - here its the best place!
A must see; must visit place.Easily accessible with any form of vehicle, but might get crowded during holiday season. There are beautiful views to be found and some great hikes for the energetic. Pack a picnic and enjoy a day out.Theres a gift shop and toilets in the area.On a clear day you can see for kilometers. With the blue sky and ocean, get ready for beautiful pictures (no filters needed), making memories.
An amazing place to visit and there are public transportation to there as well, to Sintra and Cascais. with a picturesque view over the ocean. You can hear the hail of the waves and the chore of seagulls forgetting all about your daily troubles.
What a stunning view when the skies are clear! Glorious sun makes the view amazing! Have to visit if you’re on the way from Lisbon to Sintra on the N247 route. Y’all thank me later!
Most westerly point of continental Europe on top of 140m high cliffs. When standing looking out into the Atlantic you can’t help feeling how insignificant you are in the bigger scale of things. Wild rugged spot, worth a visit.,
Amazing beauty and an oasis of life. This is just wonderful depiction of the beauty that nature offers beyond words. Fresh breeze slapping over your face while your soul is enveloped by tranquility. A place to pause, to think that there is more to life than just living..
The most western point of continental Europe. It was too windy so always be ready for the wind and dress up accordingly. It is very beautiful and natures place, it was one restaurant which has also a great place and view..
Beautiful scenery, breathtaking! Awesome trails, however its a good hike and you must be able to really walk through this terrain. Small winding routes, at your own risk.
I will not say is the most beautiful place in Portugal, because there are many places there which are amazing, but Cabo da Roca is something unique and magic. The most western point of continental Europe. Be very careful if you’re going to climb the cliff, because it’s dangerous.
The most beautiful place we visited in Portugal. We were surrounded by endless ocean and the sky was so wide open; something hard to witness in the big cities. Such a wonderful experience to stare into the sparkling water underneath the clear blue sky. The sunset was so breathtaking. Pictures do not do justice for this place. Must visit in person.
