Thanks to the lovely ladies that allowed us to still check out the museum just at close up for my wifes first time in Wellington.
Free exhibit that has an old cable car to view and touch. Goes over the history of the cable car a little. Some unique souvenirs in the gift shop adjacent. As a tourist it was interesting to learn about the history. After the cable car ride up, I was able to visit the museum, take in the surrounding view, and then take the next car down with my return ticket. Overall a very economical stop to make.

A modest little museum that is great to kill some time while waiting at the top of the hill for the cable car. Downstairs is a working model of the old cable wheels. Nice little gift store.
Cable Car Museum at WellingtonVisited on 31/1/2019After getting off the real cable car at the peak of Kelbourne, we visit the Cable Car Museum to bring to the past to look at how it started.Besides photographs and documents, there is a model of the cable car complete with a conductor and a passenger. The first cable car run on 22 February 1902. How amazing the service is still in operation.
Beautful cable car ride on summer day and cool day out to the top. Nice view and scenery.

Interesting museum at the top of the cable car. Free of charge entrance is more attractive even. Inside old times cable cars, some other history facts and a small store. Staff is limited, but seems ok. There is the lower part where you can see the real cables of the cable car working and moving. It is small, but worth a visit.
Cool little museum and itโs free! A couple of beautifully restored Cable Cars, a moving exhibit showing you the old winding room and loads of photos and history. Worth a visit, will take about half an hour
Free to wander round and check out how the Cable Car was built. Pick up a model cable car or a fridge magnet.
Such a good experience in low budget. Good lookout points, gardens and some shops at the top. Theres also a free shuttle to Zealandia (zoowhich is a good experience too. Theres a botanical garden, planetarium and some walking trails. Unfortunately it was raining and we couldnt do much. It will be a nice experience for everyone.
Not too much about the cable cars in the museum more a gift shop. But they do have a dress up section downstairs to get in the mood of the era which is cool, as well as seeing how cable cars work.
I always love museums where I get to know how it all begun and the histories. Plus this place has a nice view at the top. One of the sites I want to visit Wellington๐

Unfortunately we arrived quite late in the afternoon and so missed out on the Cable Car Cafรจ but there is always a next time. I bought some souvenirs all reasonably priced, key chains etc. Staff are friendly as well which makes for a lovely walk around the Museum of which is Wheelchair and Pram friendly. Payment can be made from the Lambton Quay End or on the Cable Car to the Driver from memory. I caught the Cable Car from the Kelburn Hill end and paid upon arrival at the Lambton Quay end to return to the top.๐๐๐
