Small but great museum. Free admission and a bit of history to support your enjoyment of the cable car. Small gift shop noce stuff. Two floors with a lift between them. More populist upstairs downstairs for the true fans.

Free exhibit that has an old cable car to view and touch. Goes over the history of the cable car a little. Some unique souvenirs in the gift shop adjacent. As a tourist it was interesting to learn about the history. After the cable car ride up, I was able to visit the museum, take in the surrounding view, and then take the next car down with my return ticket. Overall a very economical stop to make.

Cable Car Museum at WellingtonVisited on 31/1/2019After getting off the real cable car at the peak of Kelbourne, we visit the Cable Car Museum to bring to the past to look at how it started.Besides photographs and documents, there is a model of the cable car complete with a conductor and a passenger. The first cable car run on 22 February 1902. Interesting museum at the top of the cable car. Free of charge entrance is more attractive even. Inside old times cable cars, some other history facts and a small store. Staff is limited, but seems ok. There is the lower part where you can see the real cables of the cable car working and moving. It is small, but worth a visit.

Not too much about the cable cars in the museum more a gift shop. But they do have a dress up section downstairs to get in the mood of the era which is cool, as well as seeing how cable cars work.

Absolutely loved the Cable Car return trip it is only a very short trip but the view is absolutely stunning from the top of Kelburn (Cable Car Museumlooking out over the city and sea views it is an absolute "Must Do" if you are in Wellington. Unfortunately we arrived quite late in the afternoon and so missed out on the Cable Car Cafรจ but there is always a next time. I bought some souvenirs all reasonably priced, key chains etc. Staff are friendly as well which makes for a lovely walk around the Museum of which is Wheelchair and Pram friendly. Payment can be made from the Lambton Quay End or on the Cable Car to the Driver from memory. I caught the Cable Car from the Kelburn Hill end and paid upon arrival at the Lambton Quay end to return to the top.๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’‹

Just had a glimpse of this place since I was running short of time. It is located at the top, near the Kelburn cable car station. It gives an insight into the Wellington of old, and there is a model of the old cable car. Admission to the museum is free. There is a store in the museum.
