CREW BAR - Gay night club in Rondebosch, South Africa
Great vibes, they are managing the tight walk rope of following COVID regulations while still being fully hedonistic. The place has lots of side rooms and little nooks so it can feel as intimate or as party as you want.
Nice
Nice inisde to have some fun with ur friends 👍
Has its moments, can either be an amazing night, or the complete opposite, oh and watch the bar staff, they get clever with the prices.
Amazing music amazing vibe awesome place to let your hair down!
Friendly staff. Quick service. Cool spot
Music and vibe was amazing! Barmen was on point, no need to stand in long queue
Great revamp, looks so much better
Just stay who and what you are. Great time. Great drinks. Great staff. Clean. Fresh. Helpfull. Safe. Was awesome.
Because my girls are always performing and the bar tenders are hot as hell!
The revamp is great. Barman however come across as trying to hustle everyone.
Venue is way more spacious than before and the decor was great! However, the place was emptier than I would have expected. Im no regular so perhaps I want on an off night! Not a bad place to go for a night out though!
New look but same bad music. There need to be looked at the toilets. Not very hygienic.
What a Jol with a difference. Cape Town at its best, enjoy the company.
My favorite club.... The best gay club by far in gay village of cpt.
The music in crew bar has never been the best but the ample space and scantily clad bartenders made up for it. Now both of those characteristics are gone. The establishment itself LOOKS quite nice but the atmosphere is very stifled. Its the first club I have ever been to where people on the dance floor are stock still, and those that are on the peripherals are on their iPhones or look like there waiting for something to happen that never ever will. Despite the lack of gogo boys which was Crews main attraction, and a smaller dance floor more aptly called a stand floor, the drinks remain overpriced, the entrance fee remains is still the same grimace inducing 50 rand. The lounge, the lighting and use of space makes it seem like a haughty imitation of Yours Truly, but slightly LGBTQ themed (achieved entirely by reputation because one wouldnt say so when walked in), and also just worse than Yours Truly because actually speak to each other at Yours Truly. Im giving it a star solely because after innumerable complaints, the owners have finally FINALLY installed adequate aeration. Well done on that part. We have learned from that mistake. Now how are we going to fix this new mess?
If youre looking for some good music and an alternative vibe... And everything else is closed... Good fun!!
Music was pumping. Fellow revellers gorgeous. Amazing evening
The bartender on Tuesday completely ignored us and chatted rather with his BF in the back..Venue was empty.
Bar man completely ignored us when we arrived. We left after one drink. Rude. And the place needs a good clean.
Its bad when the ocean is colder that the beer served here
Friendly staff however drinks are pricier than else where
Litrally just grose. Everyone doing drugs on dansfloor Ppl having sex in bathrooms.. Really just bad in my opinion.
Mostly had only good experience there. Found the staff to be rather friendly.
Beautiful and relaxing environment with nice eye candy..
The real place to party and have a fab time.Great music and sexy barmen
Much better than the last time I was there, DJ played good music and the vibe was in general better
Huge thanks to the Crew staff who are not only amazing people but contacted me when they found my purse id lost. Unbelievable result and service. Also a great place to have a boogie!! #faithinhumanityrestored
They dont accept card payments upon entering, In a bad area surrounded by foreigners offering you drugs outside, Not clean, down market, bartenders have bad self entitled attitudes(i had to wave money in front of their face to get serviceand very empty these days. Do yourself a favour and go to the Pink Panther Gay club. It is a lot more upmarket, better music and better atmosphere.
Terrible place. Bar tenders flirt and play a trick on you to charge USD 30 a shot. Unfriendly to tourists and worst experience across South Africa
Crew Bar is a very nice club. The bar tenders and dancers are all very friendly attractive young men. But watch out for a blonde blue eyed bar tender named Tyler Reichardt. He is a liar and a thief. He stole R3500 from me in October of 2016.
This club does not deserve the 1 star. My worst clubbing experience ever. The type of music is so very different to that of Pretoria and Johannesburg. It was as if the DJ just played the hit parade in a sequence from the top 20 and some commercial music from years gone bye. Not even well mixed. The locals seemed ok with it some of the time. Every now and again the floor was just about vacated. Even the DJ vacated the box for a number of songs in a row. Save yourself the time and effort, it is not worth a visit.
Hi hope the owners are reading our feedback. A nice place to be myself as a gay man, music not bad. My only issue is the amount of cigarette odour that clouds my breathing as the evening progresses- despite the no smoking signs on the dance floor people still get away with it. If this gets sorted an easy 5 stars from me. Thanks Crew Bar <3
I had an amazing time at this bar. Yes, it was hot, but the incredibly attractive straight bartenders wear tight, short briefs and we all know the effects of cold on a mans package. I say, turn up the heat! Concerning the str8 bartenders, remember that this African nation is strongly hetero-normative and some need to protect their identities (and reputations of their families). Lighten up.Drinks always were the same price (I had only beer except for the body shot from Alex E). Yes, thank god, there is still a smoking section at a gay club. The place needs a deep cleaning, a few bugs ran across the bar (thus my desire to drink bottled beer). I had no issues or problems with the doorman, welcoming in general and helpful in finding me a taxi. The crowd is a mixture of internationals and locals mingling happily. A couple of solicitations for money from sex workers but they handled rejections without attitude. Drop the gay attitude and enjoy this environ.
Fabulous. Open most nights, best barmen in the business. Safe and fun night out, can become crowded. All welcome, R.O.A.R though,
Cool place to let loose, drinks can get pricey also I never saw any management anywhere
Usually free before 10 but charged me because it was Gay Pride. Charging me to go in on a day that celebrates being gay, only to make a quick buck... A new low for this trash-heap. Drinks are overpriced (60 bucks for a vodka lemonade, its crowded, some of the straight barman are pretty rude/homophobic.
Just ok... Drinks seem to be cheap, but 90% of your glass is ice, so you can order 20 spirits and still feel sober. Barmen are nice and hot, they say they are straight... Not really sure about that.
Hot barmen! Drinks quite expensive. Music amazing.
Everybody welcome here great atmosphere!
When a business had more 1* ratings than 5* ratings you must know that things cant be good. I realise yet again why I only go to this place once a year on the insistence of a foreign friend visiting.Literally had to wait 20min at the bar to get drinks. Somehow the 3 bar men standing there cant work their way from one side to the other to assume that customers waiting dont get overlooked. They definitely add water to their Whiskey and probably other spirits as well. The Jagermeister we bought at the downstairs bar was literally 50% water. So its safer to drink beer or other drinks that are sealed and I tampered with. Highly overpriced as well and the same drinks all night kept changing prices. Total ripoff!Music is ok and the majority of the place is kept smoke free.Cant wait for this new Pink Panther club to open up this week! Cant say that Ill miss Crew at all!
Usually a really good time, even for straight men as well. Cheap drinks and good music.
Its always a pleasure to be at crew. Might have its ups and downs but if you know how to party. You will definitely enjoy yourself. A
Very nice younger pop music and disco music .....
Terribly overpriced and hard to get served at the bar.
Indoor smoking is permitted and since theyve permanently closed the sliding doors to the outside area, youre stuck inside in a dungeon of smoke. Best watch out, I got short-changed on my last visit. The bathrooms become very crowded and theyre seriously disgusting. Theyll charge you cover even if the place is relatively empty inside (and it wont include a free drink).
Its pretty much the standard gay bar/night club. The music is appealing to the young crowd which is enjoyable. The dancers and bar men though, are hot but straight so thats basically an irritating tease close to insulting...
Music sucks, little atmosphere. They issue drinks vouchers that come with fastidious requirements.
Crew is unfortunately the worst gay bar I have ever been to in my life. It does not have any redeeming qualities.Service: A majority of the bartenders are friendly guys. However, the biggest problem with Crew, is that it exclusively hires a straight male staff of fit and good looking bartenders. This does two negative things. 1. Places the "straight male" on a high podium for the gay guys to worship further. Most of them "flirt back" with customers which is ridiculous and demeaning to the customer, whether or not they realize it. Essentially, "teasing for tips" and taking our money. If Crew bar was friendly to LBGTQ people, it would hire a majority of gay bartenders (like any good gay bar in the world.Gay bars are one of the few places LGBTQ people can go to meet other gay people, if I wanted to ogle straight men, I would just go anywhere, the gym, my college campus, a straight club... 2. Unfortunately, Ive had two negative experiences of bartenders sexually harassing a lesbian couple, who I am friends with. Crew should be the one place girls can go to avoid sexual harassment while clubbing, but unfortunately some of their bartenders are unprofessional and immature and beg the girls to make out in front of them.Venue: Grungy, out-dated, tacky decorations, disgusting and unsanitary bathrooms (and too few of them), no air conditioning, over priced drinks, and a 40R cover.Music: Top 40 and big room house (mostly bad remixes). Mixing is poor and the DJ sequences many of the same songs throughout the evening. Even EDM fans are disappointed because sets are arranged so poorly and music is a few months behind the online community of good EDM music.
Friendly bar with mostly good looking staff which I like to look at. Most of them even smile when you tip a bit :)
