COCO Café - Cafe in Nanaimo, Canada
Friendly staff, great atmosphere, yummy food and dog friendly. We will be back for sure!
Great food on the go, friendly service, doing great things for the community. Also one of the best cinnamon buns I have ever had. Tasted just like Nanas. 👌
Good foodFriendly staff
Great little coffee joint and Cafe. Good vibe and nice people.
I like Coco Café. The drinks and food are fantastic, the staff are friendly and helpful, and theres a sizeable parking lot right next to the place. My only two (minorgripes is that the place is open only five days a week and closes on the early side 8am-3pm.Aside from this, I highly recommend Coco for breakfast, brunch, or lunch.
Good food... alittle pricey
Very good choc zucchini loaf, and blended mocha and good tea
Touring BC. Found this gem looking for a place for lunch. I had the chicken sandwich. Huge! My only meal that day. Our last day begore we went home, we went there for breakfast. The portion was more then qe could eat. Great service great tasting food and generous portions. Lattes were good too.
Although this place has surprisingly good reviews it was very underwhelming. We got the breakfast panini and breakfast garden bowl+ soft poached egg to go. The panini tasted like the a soft sandwich and was not crispy and didn’t appear to be toasted at all. For my garden bowl I ordered a poach egg on top. I saw another review where they forgot the egg so I made sure to check that it was there. When I got home though I found out that they forgot the pesto sauce and had to go back to grab it. The soft poached egg was also medium done. If anyone would still like to try out this cafe I would suggest checking your whole order before leaving.
Amazing food and super friendly staff.
Although the food is good, it is pricey. Orded a breakfast bowl today with the simple request of no Hashbrowns and extra spinach/tomato in its place. My bowl was half hashbrowns and when I brought it back all I received was a "sorry" - no offered compensation for my $20 bowl I couldnt eat half of.
Everything is wonderful about COCO Café but Thursdays are my favourite. The Roast Beef Stuffed Yorkshire Pudding with a side salad (I love the green salad with the house vinaigretteare an every Thursday occurrence for my coworkers and myself. Yes, they are that good.
I came to this place today it was my first time and honestly I was greeted with open arms. The staff are friendly and very caring as well Oh I cant forget the food here is amazing and the coffee sure the best in town. This place is a must visit for sure you would not he disappointed.
I usually dont write bad reviews or give 1 star but I waited for my iced coffee for almost 30min! I got my baked goods at the till and waited without coffee to eat my goodies. If i knew it took this long i would have passed! Staff was friendly and apologized but would have been nice to know the wait would be long. Talk about island time. Best to come here if you got nothing to do but just chill n wait.Update ... finally went back. Covid protocols changed which probably made it a little easier on staff and customers. Goodies amazing as usual and coffee only took a minute to get! Thank you ❤ 5 star update!
The food is overpriced which would be fine (it’s a independent placebut the food is underwhelming and the portion sizes are very small. I ordered a wrap and it was over $17, when I checked in the bag the wrap was so much smaller then I was expecting for the price. On top of that I was the only customer when I ordered my takeout and it took them forever to make my wrap.
What a gem hidden away! Food was delicious. Good size helpings and reasonably priced. Easy better than any chain. We were just passing thru and this was a great place to stop
Edit:The issue has been discussed and fixed. I went today at 8 am too. Orders were all perfect, customer service was excellent, and the food was delicious. Definitely going back.——————-Very disappointed this morning. I ordered garden bowl with poached egg and it was noted on my receipt and I also gave 20% tip because that’s the minimum we can do to support our local restaurants and cafes. However, when I got my order it was missing the egg. When I asked, the person who took my order talked to the chef and came back to say that I need to go back to the front door to order again or for them to put it again (wasn’t clear whyand when I said I already ordered that and she went to check the receipt and found out that yes it mentioned poached egg, she said it wasn’t paid for. Not sure how this can happen but anyway, i don’t think the incident was handled well.
Came for a couple sandwiches for me and my kids and stood in a line up of 5 people ahead of me (approx 15 min). It was close to closing but i assumed they would at least finish serving the people that have waited in line so patiently I got to the window at 2:02 (they close at 2and was told that they would no longer serve sandwiches only pastries. Not a pleasant experience at all.
I have been going to Cocos for years now and have never had a bad experience. I ordered Christmas dinner from them this year and honestly, it was better than I could have cooked myself. I am looking forward to ordering my Easter dinner from them.Thank you for always being so kind and caring.
Always receive delicious meals! Love the takeaway options to keep in my freezer and that you can do individual or family sizes. Even cater to the gluten intolerant! 💕💕
I absolutely LOVE this business! The business model and social impact is magnificent and the food is just as good!! As local business owners they have gone above and beyond several times to ensure our orders were correct and ready!
COCO Cafe is an amazing establishment!! The food is incredible and their contribution to the community is amazing. We purchase their family meals that are freshly frozen and they have been a god send during COVID. Highly recommend them!
Read some good reviews and came to check it out for myself. They’ve set up and excellent order-in-front, pickup-out-back system, and the food came out quick given how busy it was. The food was all very fresh and tasted great, the soup was amazing!
The food was excellent. They have been innovative with how they have adapted to the pandemic requirements. You order your food at the desk at the front door and pick it up at the back door. Tables are available outside to eat your meal at.
Excellent food! Helpful, friendly staff and positive atmosphere. They catered my wedding a couple years ago and people are still talking about it!
Delicious brunch at this very busy and delightful cafe
Oh man.....this place along with the staff was amazing. We got in early and couldnt check into our hotel yet and we were hungry so we took a drive to find some food. Came across CoCo Cafe. Amazing food and prices right!! The staff was very friendly! Id definitely recommend to stop here if you are ever in Cedar!
Great as usual. Savory scone, Potatoes Bacon corn chowder, ham and cheese croissant, banana bread. All were very good. The soup could have been a little hotter, but the flavour was great.
Love love love. One of the best breakfasts I have ever had at an extremely reasonable price!! I really struggle finding vegetarian dishes that are flavorful without being spicy (I really am a huge baby about spice!but the breakfast bruschetta here was incredible. Sundries tomatoes with poached eggs and feta on focaccia bread with potatoes, Im drooling just thinking about it and it was 12$...are you kidding?? I am so sad that its an hour drive for me or I would be there every weekend. The staff were also super super nice and I just love the concept and message. Eat here!!!!
Had an exceptional dried fig and blue cheese salad. Special was $10. Kids loved the pot pies and grilled cheese. Bread was fresh and moist. Will definitely come back with the kids again.
Tasty beef and turkey pot pies. Toasted sandwiches made with their own baked bread were also very good. Also enjoyed the homestyle beef cabbage roll soup. I would definitely eat there again.
We were passing through Nanaimo and it had been already a long day waking up so early. Decided to stop by COCO Cafe for some breakfast. Found this place via TripAdvisor reviews, and all I can say is wow.The staff was friendly, fast, and took pride in everything they did. The breakfast bagel sandwich I got and the breakfast wrap my girlfriend got looked like they were made to be photographed. Perfectly cooked, perfectly assembled, and amazingly yummy.Thank you for a great first experience COCO Cafe! We cant wait to visit you again!
Coco Cafe does a superb job of meeting 2 needs. First its an excellent cafe that serves delicious breakfasts, lunches and coffee break treats. Second, it provides valuable job opportunities for community members with special needs.Coco Cafe also offer an excellent catering service and sells ready-made meals to take home and heat up.I love to eat at Coco Cafe, have hired them to cater a dinner and often take meals home with me. Ive told many friends about it who now enjoy Coco Cafe too
Good coffee but dont go late in the day ( like after 3). All they kept saying was that they closed soon. True but they were still open?? It was obvious that they close before they close and were not happy to have the business. My guess is that the staff dont get paid to clean after business hours. They literally moved us from the outside seats while we were still drinking our coffee. Too weird!
Really good breakfast place with a lot of options to choose from. Great ambience and friendly staff
Great breakfast and great coffee ! Appears they have a training program for some folks who might otherwise not have the opportunity, that speaks a lot about who they are in the community ! Great work COCO !
Love going to Cocos for breakfast! I got the BLT benny this time but I am also addicted to their bruschetta breakfast. Its a kid friendly place with a highchair and a little corner with some coloring stuff and a couple toys. The staff are very friendly and the beverages are good also. Its become our go to place even though its 20 minutes away.
Great cafe located in Cedar. I love their sausage breakfast bagels and its a nice place to get a proper hot beverage. You really do get what you pay for, the food is always high quality.
We were thankful to find this great Cafe since downtown Nanaimo was dead at 8am on a Sunday morning and we wanted breakfast. We loved the West Coast Benny and coffee was very good for us coffee snobs. - Jeff & Brenda Ackerson, Bend, Oregon USA.
Ive stopped in here for lunch a few times now and its always the same: friendly staff, great food, and a good vibe. Its also geared towards a great cause. I highly recommend trying their chicken club and wonton soup.
Beautiful bright and vibrant cafe! The music and the small touches are perfect. Plus, the soup was great!
First, the food here is awesome, and I would normally give more stars however, there is a bit of room for improvement. Like, when you open at 6:30, however you can’t order food until 7, that to me is a bit of an issue....especially when you have a customer driving from North Nanaimo just to enjoy breakfast. Especially on a Saturday morning.
This place really holds a special spot in our hearts.. The owners care about their community and it really shows. The food is always amazing and fresh, and you can taste it with local ingredients. They also give special needs people a place to work and its truly a pleasure to see :they also showcase local artists monthly and cater to many different events.. If you havent tried this place you need to asap ! Thank you for all the years of amazing service 😁
Lovely vibe in this place. Food was delicious and fast. Poached eggs were perfect, sausage was a delight. Its off the beaten path a bit when youre driving up from Victoria, but I will stop here each morning I travel up island now. What a great restaurant!
Good businesses make you feel appreciated. Coco Café does so much for so many and it shines throughout their food, customer service & community involvement. Melanie the Manager is always so pleasant and can light up a room with her smile. I love it here and know you will too!
Coco Cafe in Cedar is an adorable little place to get breakfast. I took my sons for Sunday brunch. You get in line at the cash, place your order, pay for it and take your numbered sign to your table of choice. My youngest and I tried the Sunday only West Coast smoked salmon eggs benedict and my other son tried the pulled pork eggs benedict. Both were pretty awesome and I must say that their plating and presentation was spot on. That may have been the most impressive eggs benedict dishes Ive ever seen. The eggs themselves were a study in perfection. I would also like to try their own warm granola cereal. The service was warm, friendly and efficient.
WOW! Surprise! Surprise!!! What looks like a rather ordinary little, be it clean, cozy cafe, has delicious culinary cuisine. Old cliche applies, dont judge a book by its cover.Cafe is packed to the brim, you likely will have to wait to place your order, then wait again for the food to arrive at your table. Judging from what I observed, it has plenty of regular clientele that frequent this establishment.Once I tried my meal, I understood why.Plus... delightfully, Cocos has a wide variety of freshly packaged, refrigerated entrees to chose from for your next meal or to put in the freezer for a later date. Those with a sweet tooth can find some scrumptious offerings to satisfy their appetite. I tried the French Toast Cinnamon Bun for my brunch. It was a plate of sticky, yummy, gooey, goodness... overflowing with a rich creamy icing sauce. Added to that plate was three pieces of the best bacon Ive ever had at any restuarant, made to perfection. Guard that bacon your life, otherwise your companions may be tempted to snatch it from you (even though they have their own).Beyond the outstanding food, Cocos has some pretty impressive community outreach programs that they are involved with. Altogether, this place should have a solid FIVE STAR rating. Cocos Cafe is located in Cedar Creek, BC.
This place is amazing! The food is so good, good portion sizes, ingredients are fresh, and staff is extremely friendly. My 1.5 year old daughter and I are vegan and gluten free and there was some really great options for us and they were knowledgeable enough to answer my list of allergy questions. My husband is not vegan and loves the food there too. We also bought their frozen pot pies and enchiladas and they were to die for! This is a new family favorite place that we will be frequenting a lot :)
Best breakfast place to visit. We always visit before heading out to the Sunday Farmers Market, its in Cedar but completely worth the drive. All the food is made with healthy ingredients and homemade. They also have frozen soups and meals which I definitely recommend taking some home. Vegetarian fare is delicious too with the garden bowl and hollandaise sauce. Yummy!
A fantastic cafe with great tasting homemade food and a wonderful atmosphere. The soup is wonderful and highly recommended. My husband loves the cornbread from their market stall. The cafe is clean, bright and great value. The staff are friendly and deliver great customer service. A visit is a must!
