CHARAMA SEA - Restaurant in Alexandroupolis, Greece
We arrived by bike, 2 people one tent. They told us it would be 12€. Upon checkout it was suddenly 18€, which was not what we agreed upon the night before. There is no kitchen, no sheltered/common area to cook (if it rains as in our case). A bit pricey for what it offers, but okay for one night.
Good camp, big, spacious, very clean we were in September and was awesome, quiet, almost empty, great for us :beach is two steps away, not the best, but still a big and beautiful beach
We came with 2 cars. 1 big campervan and 1 small car. The small car was more expensive than the big one because I used my own tent. Very strange pricing and discussions lead to nowhere since there was no will to try to understand the weird pricing.
This is a nice place for camping. We came here with a caravan and a tent and the conditions are pretty nice for both of them. In each space you have power plugs, water supply and there are plenty of toilets so you dont have to walk to far. Also in the camping you have a mini market, a restaurant and some playgrounds. The beach is very pretty, not too long and is not crowded with umbrellas
Its a very big camping with more than 100 parcels. The 3 front rows are on the concrete under a build up roof. The rest under poor trees giving not enough show. Poor bush giving little privacy. One of the worsed campings I have been on in Greece. Employees seem to be offed by you being there, music throughout the night from many radios (no reaction from the employees), underinvested infrastructure. I stayed only for one night - would not stand longer.
We didn’t have a reservation for this place but we were in the area looking for a campsite, so I checked in the internet and found this one. I read the reviews (some of them not so nicebut as there was nothing closer we decided to give it a try. I didn’t know what to expect having in mind some of the reviews. I called them to check whether they had availabilities. The guy on the phone was very polite and helpful, he told me that although it was a high season and that’s a last moment call they’d do their best to find us a space. So we went there, all the staff was very kind and helpful, they found us a very nice space. By the way all the spaces are very big a spacious. The toilets and bathrooms are not brand new but very clean at all times which is the most important. The cleaners are fantastic, you don’t see them so often but everything is clean all the time. The campsite itself is nice, quiet and safe. Its location is very very good and convenient. It’s directly on the beach, in seconds you go from your motorhome to the sea. The beach is very nice, wide and sandy, which is hard to find in Greece as most of the beaches are rocky. There’s a very nice beach bar next to the campsite. There’s a small but well packed shop inside the campsite with very polite staff as well. On walking distance there are some other bigger shops where you can find everything, there’s even Lidl at about 15 minutes walking from the campsite. The Alexandroupoli town centre is also very close, in ten minutes walking you are in the heart of the town, with its beautiful shops and restaurants. The restaurants offer delicious Mediterranean food and the staff and service is also amazing, the prices absolutely reasonable. So, having all these things in mind, that was one of the best campsites I’ve ever been to. And that was one of my best holidays. We’ll definitely come back again and I will recommend it to all my friends. Absolutely deserves five stars.
Ok!
A hit place, very nice sand on the beach, excellent warm water.
Very good place. Town was quiet. No stores nearby, at least in the evening. Wifi was not working.
Ideally placed for travellers to/from Turkey or Bulgaria, with a long sandy beach, within walking distance of the town - it should be a pleasure to arrive and stay here. Instead, the whole place is like a badly maintained refugee camp with dismal facilities, no washing machines, wifi that wasnt working and an abandoned restaurant. We have camped here regularly over the years as there is no alternative but the place is sadly deteriorating. And meeting the Receptionist (Soulaon duty when we arrived felt more like being taken into custody. The only greeting was ID, I must have your passport, all other ID being refused. When I went back to the motorhome to fetch our passports for perusal, she came out after me shouting Where have you gone! Then we were allocated a pitch number that, when eventually found, was already occupied. No apology, of course, when I trudged back. When asked the price (for a motorhome, 2 adults and electric - hardly unusuala complicated price list was pushed at me, with different seasons, discounts and tax to decipher myself. Asking about laundry, I was told to use the sinks - and yet we found adverts for a local launderette scattered about the site. With Covid still an issue, the cold-water handbasins in the toilets had no soap, hand gel, paper towels or driers. The Town Hall should be ashamed of its municipal campsite facilities and the reception given to paying customers.
Nothing to get impressed by. An ok place. Kinda...
So nice place to stay and cheap, the only bad: the toilets were not so clean but acceptable. The staff super nice guy!Not recommend to camp under 0°C jeje
camp is perfectly located, well organised, but beware of mosquitoes - killers! we run away, could not stay for another minute! we were charged 10.79 eur for 2 hours we stayed there + lady at reception was rude; hence 2 stars!
👩🦽My experience of this camping site was short lived. I had planned to spend about a week with my tent, but the constant motorcycle and trucks noise from the main road at night, and barks and cries from dogs, was disturbing enough to make me change my mind rather quickly. Had I been there with a campervan my comments would most probably be different as the insulation of the campervan would probably have blocked the outside noise. I payed 6€ for one night, one person, and 6€ for one tent, but I have uploaded a picture of all the prices (its both in English and Greek, and make sure to add ~14% tax to the prices you see). On the positive side, both receptionists I met spoke fluent English and were helpful and ready to answer my questions. The toilets and showers I found to be very clean for that once or twice I used them, and the shower was very strong and hot, which was relaxing. Camping customers have free access to the chairs and umbrellas of the beach-restaurant next to the camping site. The restaurant of the camping itself is currently closed due to COVID-19. Overall the camping site was clean, and water was readily available and drinkable.
The well known Greek hospitality is NOT here. The lady at the reception was rude. I was asking for her help and she left me talking and went to talk to some friends of hers. I made a phone reservation before we got there, that was nowhere to be found, so she gave us a spot, on concrete, with no shade to park our motor-home.(It was like parking on a motor-way parking except it was close to the beach). Of course there were free spots on grass and with shade i saw them while we stayed there for 2 days. When we got to our spot a very aggressive lady came out of her permanent caravan and yelled at us to be careful how we park not to block her view. There are a lot of stray dogs in the camping, not aggressive (like the lady abovebut still. There was loud music at night in the campsite so not a place to rest and relax. There is no WI-FIWe were in 5 more Greek campsites and this was by far the worst. It is probably because its Municipality camping and not a private one.
Spaceous, clean, near sea and great beach. For sure nice place to camp!
Visited October 16th, almost all were vacant and got the beach to myself. Had a great nights sleep. All for 12 eur one person, motorbike and own tent. I don’t think it get get better than this considering the average price for a room in Alexandroupoli is around 40 eur. Toilets and shower were clean at this time of the year and there were only a few other camper vans beside me. There is a market and a restaurant if you need to buy things inhouse. Will be staying here next time I am back in Alexandropouli, highly recommended.
People can steal thinks there. Be aware..We woke up in the morning and one bag was missing.Dont leave your bags out of your tent..Make sure all your importent things are with you..We found some of the staff but probubly they looked for money. The stuff in the resaption didnt want to help much. And didnt take responsibilty about this case.I would not reccomend on this camp..
Nice place for camping. Place has beach, toilets and showers. Prices are good. Bathrooms are ok.
Nice camping. They offer spots for RVs and tents. The beach is clean. Toilets were better than what I expected. They are clean and have toilet papers. Yet the restaurant should have been better. All the spots are separated by trees which gives you enough privacy and shade. Prices are little bit above the average. 1 tent (own), 1 bike, 1 person costs 16€ per day.
Lovely place for camping.
Clean toilets, big tent spots, but very close to the road
Very good. Clean. Good sea.
Noisy bunch of boys up partying with loud music and riding a motorbike around the campground till 5.30 in the morning. No reaction from security, still had to pay full price for the sleepless night.Beach was full of rubbish.Wont be coming back for sure.
Im glad we didnt go inside. It was a terrible noise coming from the camp site during one Friday night. With loud music and not of my liking at all.
Not a bad camping but:1. They say that theyll provide water for caravans and they do IF you bring a NON-STANDARD tap to connect to the water supply that you wont find anywhere around and they will not provide one. If you really want to have water in your tanks, you will have to get creative to fill them somehow or you will have to carry it with a bucket or you wont have any water in the caravan in this camping.2. They also say that they offer free wifi and they do, but it is not working.Other than that, its nice, clean and close to the city center. They do have a small restaurant and a mini market.Reception is opened 24/7 and they dont have that quiet hours policy so you can drive in or out of the camping anytime during the day or during the night.
Great experience! You will find clean toilets, supermarket, and good administration. It is right on the beach and close to the city center!
Great camping! Very large tent lots, a lot of trees and flowers, places for sport, shop, restaurant. May be only the noise from the road behind the camp is something which could annoy somebody, but for me it was OK.
Good, quiet, long beach. But no fridge and ice, its necessary for campers.
Quiet time of year so not crowded. Washrooms a bit dated and clean. Had beach plot. Hepful and friendly staff. All in all a good site and we would be happy to stay again - although would avoid the height of the season.
Well organized and clean camping area near downtown.
It is a pleasant camping to stay in front of the sea. It has a mini market and a restaurant (not so good). You can go there with your caravan or tent. The prices are medium to high. It works all the year and it offers electricity for an extra cost. My experience from there is absolutely amazing. It is suitable for families. Greek veterans are very happy to help you. In the camping you will mostly find Greeks, Bulgarians and Turks. Have a pleasant visit in Alexandroupolis!
A great place in which to relax and enjoy the beach and modern Greek culture around Alexandroupoli. Clean, reasonably quiet (and priced!and with friendly staff (who speak English, Bulgarian and Germanand fellow campers. Shady camping spots with Wi-Fi and electricity, as well as its own section of beach. Youre not far from the main town which provides some nightlife, but far enough that the traffic and hoi-poloi cant interfere with a good nights sleep. Theres a lidl nearby for cheap groceries, and an on-site bar/café/restaurant which does delicious traditional and local cuisine - you know its good because the locals hire it out for family and work celebrations.
Great place for children and family. Cena, friendly people, near to sea.
There are plenty of shady spots with lots of privacy. Right next to the beach
good place next to seaIll be there next time
it was a good place, but this year we are very disappointed...somebody stole our bag, sunglasses and other things from our tent but the stuff didnt do anything to help us.
Very close from the highway.Beach 8/10,camp spots 9/10,toilets-showers 8/10,staff very friendly minimarket restaurant inside the camp... Good internet...Pet not allowed but we ask and they told us no problem and the camp was full of dogs... Hahaha.Overall 8/10...
Our favorite family place for the summer weekends
Big camping at the beach. Restaurant. Big pits. Much Shadow.
Great place to camp. Prices were decent for what you get. There are two different types of patch you can get, the one with my tent in the photos is the smaller one, the larger one is for RVs (that, I dont have a picture for).Theres power, although without an extension chord / plug, I had to leave my phone at the pole (Its shared between two patches). I was lucky that my patch was near the restaurant / cafe, so I could use their wifi, otherwise, there isnt wifi at the campsite.Toilet was generally clean, and the shower water pressure was great. Really great that I still remember it a few months later. The beach was clean and good too. No beach chairs, if you want you need to bring your own. Some guy in an RV loaned me his as he saw I was standing, waiting for sunrise.People here were friendly, not many screaming kids around (just one family when I was here near the end of summer).Overall, 5* for the price paid and all. Oh, check out the restaurant too, the food is good.
Very peaceful and quit place.
Huge beach near the camping area. Good food at restaurant & cheaper than in town. Clean toilets & showers. Suitable for kids and seniors. Very quiet & peacefully.
Good campsite right on the beach. Huge pitches most with access to a tap. Busy high season with long stay guests. Facilities not bad but loads of mosquitoes.
Spacious pitches with good facilities
Huge campsite! If you are looking for a quiet place, its no here. Hundreds of persons in hundreds of parcels. But still a good place in town to camp for a reasonable price.
Huge place with mostly permanent camper spots. Bit loud in the evening with everyone bbq-ing. Next to the nice private-ish beach with clear water. Showers on the beach. Plenty toilets and showers which are clean! Restaurant with decent menue, lets you use the WiFi without consumption. Rest of the space has no WiFi. Nice place for a day or two.
Unlike the previous reviewer I didnt find the campsite loud at all but I think its just luck who you end up beside! Centrally located but the restaurant is dire and the wifi poor. Also you have to pay extra for electricity even if its to charge your phone!
Nice Place, mood and chill, hot nights and crystal water, we will back again soon..
The campingplace is not so good for sleeping :-( to loud and noisy :-( everyone is playing musik. Maybe you like that, then it is ok. I like to sleep and relax. You have to leaf your passport at the reception?! This is not alowed in greece becouse you always have to cary your passport with you in greece. And this is the first time i have to give my passport to a reception (from 95 days traveling only on this journythe restaurant is ok and the showers alsow. When i arrived, the woman on the reception say to me that it costs 8€. When i leaved it was 8,90€... Not good! -1* from the beach, so this place gets 1*
