CAPE NATURE WALKER BAY in Hermanus
Description
Privilege
Wonderful way to explore our heritage and coast line. Definitely need to pack hiking shoes. A bit of a climb getting to the caves but definitely worth it. Beautiful views and restrooms available.
MoreBeautiful routes worth the walk.
Pristine beauty. Some of the best Mother Nature has to offer. Sea, shore, mountain, sky. Stunningly untamed and beautiful!
MoreLove it! Best place to be in the world.
Totally amazing. Beautiful beach.
Cape Nature has kept this Protected Paradise absolutely pristine!
Great location for whale spotting and off road 4x4 sand driving ( not dunes)
Perfect day out. Make sure to watch the weather
The views are stunning but the beach was dirty! Rubbish all over! Old fishing hooks, broken light bulbs, condoms, plastic bottles...just to name a few of the items we picked up! It really needs to be monitored as it is such a beautiful location
MoreClose to Gansbaai, De Kelders. A must do experience.🐳 🌊 🌍 🥾 Walking, lingering, resting, enjoying the untouched beach, the sand, the dunes, the rocks, the deep blue water of the Atlantic. 2-3 times a day you can see the boats of Ivanhoe Sea Safaris and Southern Right Sharters in the bay which are looking for the Gentle Giants. And by the way , don`t forget an excursion to the Klipgat Caves beside. Moreover some small maps to orientate. The access to the entrance at Normandie St. isn`t so easy it likes, so have close look at Google maps or similar.Confer to Google maps tag: Walker Bay Nature Reserve Entrance.
MoreDie Plaat is a wonderful place for 4x4ing getting intouch with nature, enjoying the beach and exploring the second oldest cave in the world.
MoreWhat a wonderful place. Had lots of fun laughing at the men trying to get 4x4s out of the sand.
MoreBeautiful bay, loads of space, sand, breakers, dunes, sky. Put it on your bucket list😍
MoreWhat a surprise-4 by 4 withStunnig view -please give more info of route at entrance
MorePity about those of us who feel the necessity to race up and down the dunes in their fancy 4x4s.
MoreLovely place to go and enjoy the day, go for a walk between beaches and a private swim
MoreExceptionally beautiful and really quite. The unfortunate issue is that to get across to the rest of the beach it depends on the tide. The steps are quite challenging and not easy to navigate. It would be a fantastic place if they could make it easier to navigate. Scenery was really amazing
MorePure natural beauty not spoilt due to restricted entry and only accessible by off-road vehicles make this a perfect outdoor enthusiast break-away spot! You need to know your thing in order to avoid getting stuck in dune sand. Great fishing without the crowd and noise and lovely temperature water for that cool dip on a summers day.
MoreExperience was amazing but, so disappointed that I must pay R100 to walk along the beach, and I am a resident of the area!
MoreOne of my best experiences! Come prepared, 4x4 only. Pro tip: deflate tires for sand dunes 🤙
MoreIt is sad to see plastic pollution on such an otherwise clean, beautiful and remote beach. We counted 75 pieces of plastic in a 1 sqm patch of sand. It is criminal what we are doing to the environment.
MoreWhat a place to go, just nature, birds and no people. A must place if you visit De Kelder.Very cheap to get in but take one of the guided tours, they know everthing about the reserve.Best still no other tourists.
MoreNice enough, but rather small compared to other African nature reserves
Most serene and beautiful place. You could spend an entire day there and see no other humans
MoreEven though this reserve is close to Stanford and Gansbaai, it has a wonderful feeling of remoteness. Great birdlife, long white sandy beaches and the chance to see seals, dolphins and even whales in the season. A peaceful haven, well worth a visit for nature lovers.
MoreFantastic! Beautiful, special
It is very beautiful but it is not that easy to access the caves. I was with 2 kids and we could not climb to the cave entrance.
Morethe "postcard"-beach is a little bit tricky to reach, but worth every effort - simply beautiful!
MoreA beautiful piece of coastline.Abundant bird life to photograph.Sea temp was pleasant, but beware the rip currents. The Eastern side of the reserve has De Kelders archeology sites, a must visit
MoreBeautiful!! Short walk to the caves, with little enclosed beach. on the other side you will also find a beautiful stretch of beach. Further walks available but not shaded, so need to go early. Views were stunning. (not well signposted, at the parking lot, go down the stairs, cross the viewing platform and continue left across the sand, over some rocks and into caves)
MoreWent to the beach at "The Plaat". Beautiful setting and fairly private... had a great time with the family!
MoreBeautiful Views and amazing caves
Pristine 40km beach with rocky patches good for safe swimming. Exceptional fynbos and birdlife such as black oyster catchers. Walking or 4x4 only
MoreUnspoilt beauty! Spotted whales, seals and had a wonderful walk along the beach! Some exciting 4x4 moments to get there!!!
MoreProbably one of the most stunning places to visit. I think about it every day although its 3 years since we visited. Truly beautiful unspoilt and peaceful
MoreWonderful place for whale watching, to see the natural sites and beauty of the Western Cape.
MoreA bit off the beaten path, magical place, its like being in another country, off road trail not too serious, just enough to feel "adventury" for the kidsThat being said it is 4x4 only and if u are not very experienced go with at least 2 vehicles in case you bog in the dunes.Maybe next time I will catch a fish. Heres hoping 🤞
MoreBeautiful spot...so glad it is protected...the sandy road requires a 4x4 vehicle.
MoreEasy drive. Bit sandy
Thank you
Rock cave approach for sure-footed 100steps down. Then 100m over rocks
Definitely need a 4X4 to drive within the reserve. Parts are very sandy so best to deflate tyres. Some areas very tough going but when you arrive at the deserted beach the view is awesome.
MoreGPS was not accurate at all!! We ended up at a dead end and got stack in the sand. Please correct directions asap.
MoreOne of the most beautiful places to go. On the road from Hermanus to Gansbaai. Hardly any tourists - in fact we did not see anybody. Small admission fee. Deserted beaches, beautiful flowers and seals on the beach every now and then.
Morealways love it here on FATBIKE tours
I was born in Gansbay, its n good place for shark cage diving , whale watching as well for its lovey fauna and flora. Well known for its fynboss .Heres manny great restaurants and B&B to spend a weakend or even to have a nice vacation. So please feel free to come and c for yourself.
MoreOne of my favorite places to visit. You need a 4x4. Scenic and rugged. Will go back.
MoreDidnt see the entire Reserve, just visited the southern shore to see the famous Klipgat Caves but it was clean and well maintained, and entry was free. Not enough signage from the main road past De Kelder so struggled to find the entrance but once we were in it was lovely.
MoreWent there with my girlfriend. The views left us both speechless. Stunning views of the cove and caves. A must see for all nature lovers
MoreMountain biking on the white beach, with clear skies and blue ocean. What more is there to say. Thanks Fatbike Tours.
