C J's Restaurant in Palmer

Do not go there service was terrible, waitress was rude and she was also the manager poor managing skills ,when we sat down there was a butter nice on the floor told her about it she said I know 10 minutes later still on the floor ,never gave us drinks to start with after 25 minutes sitting down still didnt attend us ,customers came in she took there order so we got up and left and told her service was terrible good luck pluss this was my moms birthday 🎂 dinner

Went recently with my mother and cousin. The food was pretty good but the service was absolutely terrible. I got the surf and turf lobster and prime rib, my mother ordered a burger, asked for no mayo, one of the buns was slathered with mayo, we waited a half hour before we even got to order our drinks, the waitress seemed to pay more attention to everyone else (3 other tableswas not very busy but she could not seem to check in. Im not one to write a bad review, but when confronted she stormed around the restaurant In a tempertantrum. The whole time I was there it felt like a episode of kitchen nightmares.

Very disappointed with the food. Very bland.

To be fair, I havent visited Cjs in years, but it was a restaurant I used to frequent having grown up in the Palmer area, which is close by. I always enjoyed the food & atmosphere. Im creating this review on behalf of two close elderly family members of mine who recently dined here that dont write Google reviews. My Uncle ordered the whole belly clams & loved them, no complaints! My Mother on the other hand ordered baked stuff shrimp & was very displeased with them. They were very small from what she described, and had too much breaded tasteless topping. She would not order them again. She also commented on there being flies inside of this establishment during her lunch out with her brother. They went on a weekend & it wasnt crowded. In fact, she said there were only two other tables being used at the time. My Mother said the service was also not the best the last few times she ate here. She told me shes planning on giving Cjs a break for awhile, because she was not too impressed. Its a shame to hear it has seemingly gone downhill over the years, as it used to be a great place for singles, couples & families to enjoy.

Go there at your own risk pork chops overcooked very dry ,fish was cooked with no seasoning expert a little Old bay seasoning very stingy with butter and sour cream very very slow service

Great service, its just the food. Got clam chowder and it tasted like potato water. There was no flavor to it. The stuffed cod was incredibly fishy. The stuffed shrimp was more like slop of breading with pieces of shrimp. The fried fish was great. The onion rings were nice and crispy but were incredibly bland. The lobster was very good. Tasted great. I really want to love this place. I see great potential here. The fact that the seafood is fresh daily is amazing. I love it.

Great place to meet for dinner with with friends or family. Every dish was cooked to perfection. Fish and chips does not dissapoint.

I love Cjs restaurant ive been eating there for 25 years or more. I pray that they will profit and stay in business for many years to come.

Cute place inside, sweet woman took care of us. Really good food we had. The outside of establishment doesnt look that great but nice little nautical atmosphere inside. We will definitely go again. Cute little find, with a very yummy reasonable priced lunch! 😊

I have never had worse service at a restaurant in my entire life. When we arrived the ONLY person on premise told us it would be 10 minutes until we were served. An hour an a half later we received water and another visit to our table. I understand hiring staff is difficult these days but honestly you shouldnt be in business if you cant even get water to a table in a half an hour. The waitress even served regulars who came in after us first! We ate typical new England fried food and chowder and spent 3 hours of my life in a weird hole in the wall with no music or life to it.

Lunch specials were excellent. Desserts were also good. Highly-rated and well deserved!

The food went downhill had a waitress that kept running away took our drink orders and it took a hr to get ice tea 1 beer hot coco and water took 1 hr to get our food then gave the lady a tip and for reason the lady told my daughter she sucked omg this lady needs to get fired I would of went back in to talk to the manager but my daughter told me not to so they better read this review we were sitting in the back room also the people who came in after us got their food 1st

C Js restaurant is a adequate place. The food is pretty good and the staff are nice however the sanitation is below par. Dirty plates, bugs, nasty bathrooms are noticable.

Smelled dirty and disgusting in there. We waited over 20 minutes with no sign of the waitress coming over at all. Got up and left will never go back!!!!!

I used to come here all the time with my mom when I’m in town from New York. We never expect a 5 star experience but we do expect a clean place.Today was not great and we don’t plan to return.A guest was yelling across the room to someone across the room the entire time we sat to wait and the waitress said nothing.I went to wash my hands in the bathroom there were fly’s all over the place and it was really not clean.While we sat to wait flys were randomly landing in and out of moms water.I thought I could by pass it however, we were there ruffly an hour and still hadn’t received our order my moms sugar was not doing great and she wanted to leave.I let the waitress know and she said the food had already been started so I would still need to pay for it.I paid thirty dollars for food I didn’t even get a chance to look at out of good faith.Then the waitress apologized and said she would talk to her manager about refunding me.I won’t hold my breath but we also won’t be visiting again! Neither will anyone connected to me.The place needs a deep clean.

The waitress did an amazing job considering she was pretty much working the tables alone. She was friendly and polite. They were very short staffed but the food was good and the service was great.

I have always been served a wonderful meal at a reasonable price here. I shall admit the atmosphere of the restaurant is a bit stale.. a bit of revamping, signature cocktails and a few tv sets to televise sports events would be beneficial

I have been going here since I was a kid and it is still as awesome as I remember. Margaret was amazing and took great care of us. Pat, the chef made an exceptional dinner! Not to mention, I hate mushrooms but his, absolutely delicious. 🖐⭐

Great place for seafood have to check out their build a burger if you like a nice big cheeseburger special this place is for you never had anything i didnt like awesome staff and owners support your small local businesses their struggling rite now and need your business so go have a great meal made by great friendly staff

Topnotch seafood, friendly staffNever ceases to amaze me why this place is not jammed. Consistently good menu from a chef that knows how to cook ultra fresh seafood. Friendly staff. Cozy family dining room. Lots of parking. An excellent bargain dining option for the masses.

I walked in, it took couple minutes to be acknowledged as I arrived during a non busy time. I was awarded a place to eat and ordered wings. The wings arrived in a timely manner. The wings served had a large size. I was given mostly drums. I happen to prefer this myself however most places may try to make this even when not specified. The sauce on the wings was that I might find on the Cape making it authentic seeming for a seafood place. The marrow of the wings also had a proper taste and consistency. I will have to return to this place again. I will order a seafood dish and will be able to finalize my review.

Service little slow but whats the rush. the server is always so friendly. The food is fantastic every time.

I would like to say Thank you so much for a fantastic experience we all had. We had a my daughters babyshower and had the most pleasant, easiest and enjoyable time. I would recommend cjto anybody looking for a venue for the occasion your planning. Thank you again for making my daughter and her husband day fantastic and worry free!!!

Nice place but long wait with 1 waitress covering 8 tables. Serving sizes are good. Whole belly clams are good.

I just walked out of this place ordered salad french onion soup and the fried sampler platter !when salad came I started eating it found hair in it !I returned it then soup came out cold in the middle of it ate some left the rest out came sampler platter started eating that half way threw it found more hair in it just decided to pay for what we drank and ate left waitress a good tipp she tried to make it better good waitress food different story !!WIll NEVER Go BACK !!!!

Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. Stopped at Treehouse Brewery to pick up some great brews and took the scenic route, US20. We were hungry and decided to find a local place. Saw the decent reviews for CJs so we stopped. Only ones in the place at 330pm but took 35 minutes for our order to arrive. Stuffed scrod was very good however as was the thick and creamy New England clam chowder. Linda’s dish of bay scallops were just ok, the zucchini mushy and overdone. Service friendly. Give it 3.5 stars. If I’m in the area, ill give it another chance.

We had a party of 5 our bill was under 100.00, 2 were under 5 they do not have mac n cheese but they made it for our 2 boys I had the Linda Special which was perfect, we also ordered the lobster mac n cheese fish and chips all of the food was very good and the portions were large. I recommend CJs if you enjoy seafood from a mom and pop instead of expensive chain restaurants

The best baked fish ever. Just tell them you want your water in a glass not in a plastic cup. Prices are very reasonable.

This could be a very nice place if they would just put a little money into it a little facelift would help. Its never very crowded I dont know how they stay open. And were always cold when we go in I went on Saturday with my elderly mother and she was freezing we had to wear winter coats. We only got a sandwich which was fine but they only have a choice of white bread. My mothers tea was not hot just lukewarm. Not sure if I want to go back again it was disappointing.

The early bird specials are an amazing value, (but they are VERY early, 3-5pm). The seafood is fresh and always perfectly cooked. Their broiled platter is to die for, even includes some lazy lobster, enough food to feed two! The haddock is melt in your mouth, as are the scallops. The decor is a little dated but Im there for the food, not the decorations.

This is a great place if your coming from the Brimfield flea market! And Ive never had a problem with there whole belly clams when other places have failed!

Just stood at this restaurant for more then ten minutes trying to be seated, didn’t even acknowledge my wife and I, the sign says wait to be seated bye host. No host, so I walk into the restaurant section and still the waitress I saw look at me then looked away, nothing stood for about 3 more minutes then left not bad service, no service!!

You people disgusting! How the hell you eat at this place? So dirty! The floor is not clean even the cornor is cover in dust, the ceiling fan is cover in dust too right above the table we eat. My silver ware is not clean properly too. Gordon Ramsay should come check out the place and Shut it down and help you to make your place better at it again.

I have only checked out the $5 take out but it was good. Got 2 cheese burgers fries and a small drink for $5. They had other choices but I havent tried them yet.

Well heres a picture of the back of the restaurant looking at the roof I presume over the kitchen something to be said about a business owner who doesnt invest money into there business. Instantly I was overwhelmed with the smell of amonia it reminded me the smell of stale urine. We started off with some oysters they were the worst oysters we had ever ate weird gamey flavor we ordered the boiled lobster that too was horrible with a weird gamey after flavor. My wife had her meal taken back I tried to muckle down on mine however the smell of amonia was even more overwhelming with the horrible after flavor. My wifes onion soup was horrible as well. The only thing good here was the price.

We came across CJs by accident and are very happy we did. The food is fantastic. Very fresh seafood and awesome home made coleslaw,. The restaurant is decorated very cute old time sea side. Definitely coming back

Had clam critters and my husband had fish snd chips... both were fried to perfection. Came with two sides and was delicious. Great service.

Had crab cake. Lot of crab,slaw good , prompt service. Nice nautical decor, will be back & prices reasonable, can have lunch menu on weekends!!!

I had the baled stuffed scrod. It was very good

My first visit to CJs was a great experience. The Food,the service and the atmosphere were all excellent! Prices were very reasonable. We will definitely be going back for more!

Had a late afternoon lunch off the lunch menu. Clam chowder whats good I had broiled scallops with a baked potato and slaw. The slaw whats good the scallops were fabulous portions were good and I recommend the ice tea it was very good I dont know why
