By Hand Pizza Cafe - Pizza restaurant in Chiang Mai, Thailand
Great place for Woodfired Pizza in Chiangmai. Good selection of normal and gluten free pizza. We love their red wines, surprise
Guys an amazing pizza! Must do when you miss Italy!
Nice place and friendly atmosphere. Pizza oven is the most attractive part of the restaurant. And you might like pizza If you are not picky and have time to wait 30 min or so. Restaurant is pretty busy after 7 pm
Really nice pizza and good service. I had the summer pizza
Hawaiian, margherita, Chang and a coke.Really hits the spot.Highly recommend and would come back again if we had more time in CM!
Very delicious thin crust pizza. Many different varieties and toppings to choose from. I have eaten here and gotten home delivery on Tuk many times. Always a delightful meal! Make sure to try a lemon soda also. Not a traditional Italian style pie, but were not in Italy! lol The wood fired oven adds flavor and cooks very evenly. This is my go-to place for pizza in Chiang Mai.
Crowded and loud. Popular with the UK kids. Pizza is absolutely nothing special - chewy dry crust and very stingy in the topics and the cheese. Probably one of the most boring pizzas i have eaten in Thailand. Not coming back even if you paid me.
A big and special variety of pizzas choices made in front of you.Cool vibe and delicious ginger tea to end your meal with :)
Best pizza in Chiang Mai! Bacon pesto was excellent.
What a disappointment😏 we ordered 4 pizza 3 of them were almost unedible due to enormous amounts of onions that just over shadowed the taste of the pizza.
Probably one of the best pizza places in Old Town. Fresh ingredients & they use a wood fired pizza oven. I’ve been here twice already & can’t wait to come back a third time!
Pizza was surprisingly good, and the drinks they ferment there themselves were also really tasty! Service was good too and friendly :-)
Had a really tasty meatlovers at By Hand Cafe with some lovely cherry tomatoes on the side. The dough was top quality and the expected flavors are present! Good job to everyone working there! Its the place to be if your are craving a pizza in Chiang Mai!
Excellent pizza restaurant!Delicious pizza’s from a woodburned brick kiln. Good atmosphere and friendly staff.Nice family business!
Terrific ambiance. Quaint setting in quiet residential area next to a temple.Lovely authentic crispy pizza bases from a terracotta outdoor oven which blasts out some serious heat.I much preferred the meat options as the cheeses are mild flavoured and I love strong cheese flavours.Would have liked a blue cheese option or extra topping with the cheese special others. Its mostly mozzarella or cream cheese, but hey ho...!Maybe they will read this review and take it onboard.Staff and experience excellent.Ill just bring my own blue cheese next time then all perfect ;).
It’s ok, but you can find better. My vegetarian pizza had completely raw and unseasoned eggplant. They even covered the most raw one with tomato sauce (see on the right). Not good. The taste was super bland, even if with the amount of toppings.
Actual proper pizza in Chiang Mai 😱Its so so good!!I went with the White Pizza. Delicious.
Nice place with nice vibe.I taste better pizzas in the past but the pizza was ok.We really enjoyed from the wine.. 600 ml for 400 bhat..
I dont have pizza very often when in Asia since its expensive compared to local food and usually not very good. I came here specifically because it is wood fired. It didnt disappoint it was easily the best pizza Ive had in Thailand (better than Dukes although thats good and they are on grab/panda whereas I couldnt find this place). Not a super crunchy base due to the sauce but very thin and the crust was flavourful and light. The pizza was moist and the toppings flavourful. Price is comparative to others, service is good. The restaurant was almost full at 8.30pm on a Tuesday in the current lower than a normal low season.
Very disappointed for the service. I think it is mandatory to specify to the customers BEFORE they order if you dont accept credit card. We had to use the closest ATM, with an unfavorable change. Not even a "sorry" or a "thank you". I did not like at all.
We been there last night in the rain, and it was worth it. Best Pizza in Thailand so far! They look and taste the part, with a twist of healthiness. Big selection on vegetarian and vegan options! Simply fantastico ,
Good pizzas in a nice atmosphere but the final touch and service could be improved.I didn’t get any glass or cutlery’s and had to walk and ask for it two times. The pizza crust was great but the toppings lack the final touch. The pesto was very hard to identify and some more spices would been nice.
super tasty pizza and lots of choice to customise their main menu pizzas to suit you better. it id a little expensive but you can see them making the pizzas fresh so i’d they are worth the money especially when needing a break from traditional foods
Was recommended by my friend to be the best pizza place in town and it turned out to be.. so true :)I enjoy the vibes and look at the big oven!Love it ❤️ I tried the hawaii pizza (chef favorite)The sausage is a bit salty.
Good and authentic pizza. Well... Authentic with a Thai touch to it, which was excellent!Agreed a bit higher in price, but we definitely enjoyed our pizzas!Tip to the owner - invest in 1 or 2 baby chairs, a small investment which increases the comfort of families with babies 🙂
Very good hand tossed pizza! Great chill atmosphere and I love the brick oven style. I’ve been hear another time and had a great experience. I suggest this place fully!
Hand made pizza right in the city! Great pizza. The parking was quite limited.
Delicious pizza. Chiang Mai was quiet but this place was full on a Tuesday. Rightly so. My chorizo pizza was yummy. Giorgio Moroder as my soundtrack was rather lovely too.
Wonderful very authentic Italian styled pizza! Best we’ve had in Thailand so far! Prices are fair - the only improvement would be having options of sides as well as pizza but minus that would highly recommend.
The real wood fire pizza in the center of Chiangmai town the pizza is so yummy with the good vibes and they also have their own kombucha drink that interesting to try.
Amazing pizza and wine! Went late in the evening (9pmto meet a friend and the staff were really friendly! The food was gorgeous and we took the rest home that we didn’t eat. And the house wine was good as well.
delicious pizza, best pizza in Chiang Mai for sure. handmade and baked in traditional oven, really like that. i will return for sure
Best pizza in Chiang Mai! Their service was super quick! They homemade kombucha is a must try!
Lovely pizza. Lovely ambience. Friendly staff. Always come here at least once when visiting Chiang Mai
This was pretty good petty and a pretty good price. No complaints. Really quick and efficient service. The kombucha was good as well. I had a Hawaiian pizza, which had a very nice crust—a bit thin, but a good blend of soft and crunchy. Somehow I forgot to take a picture of the actual pizza!
Upon arriving I was told that they have the best pizza in all of Chiang Mai. Being such an avid pizza lover it was imperative I gave it a go.I must say it checked all of my boxes. Old school clay/charcoal oven. Good texture, crust the appropriate size, sauced thoroughly and toppings applied in abundance.Taste? 9/10. A good offer of condiments and a nice homly feel to the place. Also quite affordable when travelling on a budget. Recommended :)
5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars as they do exactly what you hope for, all by hand. Nice hot tasty pizza, lots of choices and a cold beer, off a quiet street, so no traffic noise. Very enjoyable dinner. Yes I had some pineapple but the menu will exonorate me.
We ordered the anchoccoli by Dwave because of how strange it’s name was (by removing the pineapple from the pizza, we got a 20฿ reduction). The crust was perfect, just how I like it. The pizza was pretty bland and the taste of bell peppers was overwhelming but adding the condiments/ seasoning did help a lot. Then later on, I came across the story behind this pizza on their website and just wish I had left the pineapple on it, you should check it out 😉
Best pizza I’ve tried in Thailand. Margarita was really tasty, forget the name of the second pizza, it was good, just too many onions. Very nice people. Would definitely recommend.
We stopped here for an easy win with the kids and the pizzas were really good. Brick oven pizzas with a nice crust. I liked the open layout of the space that let you look into the street even from the tables further back.
This is my favourite spot in planet earth, best pizza Ive ever tried! Pesto pizza is 100% recommended. Prices fall below $10 and the food quality is excellent.
Some of the BEST pizza I have ever had! Hands down. My favorite is the Summer pizza. My first visit was in 2019. I visited again just the other night and I swear it only got better! You have to try the honey lime soda...so refreshing!
This place makes delicious pizza. The base is hand made and the toppings are delicious. An authentic pizza oven & very helpful polite staff make this place well worth a visit. It is casual with no frills but the pizza and service make it a great little pizza place.
Great pizza tucked away in a small back street inside Old Town. The atmosphere here is nice starting with the brick oven that the use to cook the pizza basically in front of you. Highly recommend if you are in Chaing Mai.
Quaint and comfortable little spot. Pizza oven is positioned that you can see your pie go in and even walk up and peek inside as the roaring flame does its magic (after a long day of travel we elected to stay put in the chair to hydrate while waiting for our awesome pizza). Fast service, pies are plentiful in size and we couldn’t finish 1/person but it’s a possibility of very hungry.
Very good pizza. Theres a wide range of toppings available, with very good vegan and vegetarian options. Atmosphere was great - it was very busy and they played good music. We ordered one pizza each which was a good amount, although we were hungry!Service was nothing special - took about 30 minutes for our two pizzas to arrive and they dont bring any cutlery or condiments to the table. But overall the pizza definitely made up for it!
Pizza was delicious. Quality toppings and condiments. They had fresh ground pepper, Himalayan salt, oregano, and various olive oils. Parmesan cheese would be nice. We were two people and we each ate our own pizza, we were super hungry though. I think 2 pizzas would be good for 2-3 people. 1 pizza for 2 people is good if you don’t each much. The staff was nice. The location was good. Casual ambiance, clean, and enjoyable.
This is an easy to find popular restaurant that is very popular. The wood fired pizzas are very well made and tasty. The bacon they use is not normal bacon but European cured which looks slightly difference. The staff were helpful and managed to take our orders and deliver them well.
By Hand Pizza Cafe was raved about by Youtubers and many of the reviews I read said this place was the best pizza theyd hand in Thailand. I lived in Naples, Italy for three years and when I asked Italians where the best pizza was to be found they told me it would be different for every person. Each person has their own taste. Im going to chalk this place up like that. The pizza was handmade and cooked in a legitimate Italian style oven. The ambiance of the place was very hipster open-air cafe. Some of the pizzas available were interesting. The flavor was from fresh ingredients and the crust while being a little bland was pretty good. Im very picky about crust so for many probably very good. The unacceptable part to me was that it was entirely devoid of any salt. I have never in 40 some years ever had to add salt to a pizza. However, easily enough solved but if a pizza main flavor is white sauce it should stand out. If the pizza is bacon that flavor should be present. While the ingredients were there they werent what stood out for the pizza. I think people that think this pizza is the best havent been around much. Perhaps best in Chiang Mai, Im not really sure as Ive not sampled any others here. I think Id go to Pizza Company first and thats really saying something. It overall wasnt horrible, if you go there make sure you grab the salt shaker before you sit down.
I had high hopes for By Hand, but I was really disappointed by the service as well as the pizza. We were seated very quickly between the pizza oven and large bags of construction material. Here we were soon forgotten about, and had to seek out a staff member to take our order. We ordered the White Pizza to which we added cherry tomatoes and green olives. This arrived very quickly, but without share plates or silverware. When we asked for these, our sever seemed confused, and brought them to us by placing them in our laps. They definitely don’t skimp on their toppings, and they were all very fresh. The crust also reflected this, and was delicious. However the pizza lacked a significant amount of flavor, as well as cheese. We also ordered a glass of their house red wine, which came chilled and was not worth 130 baht or the almost instant headache. Although the prices are fair for pizza in Chiang Mai, I think you are better off going to Street Pizza or The Duke’s. The quality, portions, service, and atmosphere are severely lacking at By Hand.
