Buzzy, industrial-chic hangout serving Japanese small plates & ramen, plus many whiskey options.
Kendra was a very knowledgeable server and when we asked her opinions on certain dishes, her whole face would light up with her enthusiasm for the food. Our first time here and it did not disappoint. Big fan of the short rib buns. We had the duck and short rib ramen bowls and they were fresh, filling, and obviously delicious. Parking was obnoxious, but we knew that going to DTSP to begin with. Some knob whipped into the last space in Central right before we turned. On the upside, I got to flex my parallel parking skills in the back alley. Anyhow, go here.
Its always a great experience at Buya, probably the best ramen Ive had in this area! 100% recommended! The short-rib, duck breast, and pork belly ramen are all delicious!!
One of the best ramen places in FL! The chef is fantastic. Customer service is great. Amazing selection of drinks.
The service was awesome. I appreciated the hospitality! The vibe is also cool - funky, without being too pretentious or hipster. The noodles on the ramen were tasty. But, this might be the first time I thought there were too many noodles. I kept searching for broth. The chashu was too tough and chewy, plus I found the egg (which I always relishto be bland and unseasoned.
Came to this cute spot with friends and it did not disappoint. The buns, ramen, and drinks were so good! We tried like half the menu and ended up bringing some home as well.We had my friend’s dog so there’s less than a handful of outside seating if you’re bringing a furry friend downtown.
I didn’t taste Tonkotsu flavor at all, it’s just too salty. Vegetable was cold and noodle was still hard. Egg and pork belly was really tasty though. It makes me full anyway and good meal before the rays game.
It was a lunch date kind of day. Sat down outside to watch the colorful St. Pete float by. As we people watched we enjoyed wine, gyoza, and this amazing bowl of smokey edamame with salt. And outside when the weather is perfect like it was... you can relax and enjoy every bite. We finished off our meal with giant bowls of ramen. We might have forgot the picture and just dug right in as we sipped glass number two of a crispy white wine. Cheers to an incredible lunch date at Buya Ramen in paradise.
Excellent anniversary dinner. Started with the Godzilla and a new cocktail. The food and service was fabulous! We will definitely be back next time we are downtown St Pete. The pictures are captioned from our order.
Found this on a Triple-D list. We had the pork belly Ramen bowl and it was darn good.
Amazing ramen! Definitely recommend the duck 🦆🍜
beautiful decor and a friendly host, but low quality ramen with ridiculously overly al dente noodles (it was objectively undercookedand bland thin broth, exacerbated by the long wait times and alleviated by the military discount.
Oldie fashion was very good! Order one of those!Started with the pork gyozas and Japanese street corn, both were very good, and came out quickly, but neither were hot, lukewarm at best.Tried the pork belly, duck, and short rib ramens. All had good flavor, but again not hot and the noodles had spots still stuck together and undercooked. No bad, but not great either.
I dont normally write reviews, but I had such a good experience and the food was amazing. My boyfriend and I were vacationing from Miami and decided to try this place on our last day. We ordered bao buns, crispy duck ramen, and the pork belly ramen if any first timers are wondering. Super flavorful! We were very impressed. We will definitely be back the next time we are in St.Pete!
Buya is usually my go to spot for ramen! I usually go once every few months and it always tastes great however today I got the pork belly the noodles were very undercooked and the pork belly was incredibly tough. I hope this is just a one-off thing and next time it’s better.
Really wasn’t impressed with this place. I got the pork belly ramen and the pork belly was legitimately inedible (super fatty and tough). I also had pockets of noodles that weren’t cooked all the way. For the prices of the items on the menu I expected much more. I did also get the slapped by a geisha cocktail and that was quite good.
Their air conditioning is currently out and there is no sign on the door notating this. I have never sweat so much eating a meal in my life. Not only was the air hot and stagnant, but ramen is a hot food, so it was very difficult to enjoy my meal. I wish they had a sign on the door and were honest with customers. I did not have any chopsticks or napkins brought out with my food. The ramen did not have the depth of flavor I expected and it was very disappointing (I got the short rib). My drink and the edamame were quite delicious. Even though our server didn’t bring us any utensils, she was still very kind.
Absolutely incredibly delicious. Our server was very nice, talkative, and very helpful with our questions. The food absolutely blew our minds away. The ramen bowls are very large, so arrive very hungry, or prepared for leftovers. the food also arrived within 5minutes of ordering, hot and fresh. Absolutely will be going back again, and I highly recommend you stop by, too.
Worst experience ever. The AC was broke and they didn’t tell anyone. The servers have 0 work ethic, they looked miserable, and were probably the least attentive staff I’ve seen in a while. Food and drinks took forever, and we had to ask multiple times for drinks. When we were paying she stood behind each of us as we were entering her tip. I guiltlessly tipped $0. You are not entitled to tips, you earn them. Do better.
Usually when I come here the food is on point. I arrived at 9:24 and the hostess told me that I couldn’t order because it was the last call was at 9:30. When I showed her the time she seated us which was a party of two. The restaurant was not busy at all and almost everyone was seated on one side of the restaurant (for conveniencewith all of our tables being approximately 1.5 feet from one another instead of following CDC guidelines that states everyone should be 6 feet apart (especially during high transmission rates in the community). We ordered the shrimp buns and when they arrived they were cold. The waitress literally watched him take a bite and then asked if she could have the kitchen “remake them” so they were fresh and hot and I agreed. She sent the same shrimp buns back out and they were still cold. I know they were the same shrimp buns because my husband took a bite out of his shrimp and the same bitten shrimp bun came back when they supposedly “remade them” for us.We then ordered the duck ramen and the soup was hot but the noodles were mushy (aka from early today). I would NOT recommend anyone going there later in the evening because you will not be served FRESH food.I am an infection control nurse and if I had the time and energy I would follow up with the appropriate management and agencies. Just beware. I usually love this restaurant but tonight was off. If I could give it 0 starsI would.
Lives up to the hype.We tried the crispy duck and the grilled chicken which was pretty juicy.. attentive server and fresh ingredients
Such a cool place! I told them my wife and I werent too hungry and would be sharing a bowl, they brought over 2 smaller bowls and split it for us. Was not expecting that, it was so nice of them to do that. Ramen was 6 out of 5 stars!
This restaurant was fine, they specialize in Ramen.. Tired the bowl with crispy duck which was tasty. Didnt appreciate the chipped bowls. Not enough meat in the soup.
First time here, found it to be very good. The short rib buns were amazing and the ramen was very good. Very nice staff, overall I liked it very much and will be back. The room is very dark, black walks, ceiling etc. not sure that would be my choice but it’s the vibe they chose. Anyway the food and service were very good and that’s what matters.
Lunch was phenomenal! We wanted to try a bit of everything - Ramen broth was full of flavor, bun was amazing and I ate an entire plate of shishito peppers.
Oh My Goodness!!! This place is awesome! Just go, be brave and try something you havent tried. Youll love it. I had the Poke Bowl. I was blown away with all the flavors. My wife had the Duck. We shared our appetizers. Everything was great. I told myself Id never eat ramen noodles again (bad memories struggling through a financial challenge), but this place changed my mind forever. Stop thinking about it, and just go.
This was a wonderful experience! The appetizers and entrees are excellent. We had a large group and everyone enjoyed their food. I definitely enjoyed it and will come back again, real soon.
We’ve eaten here a few times. The food was delicious every time! This time we ordered pork gyozas and pork belly buns to start. They came out promptly shortly after our drinks. Both of us had ramen which was the main reason for going to Buya. The only reason I took off a star is because it always seems like they don’t believe in AC. By the end of our meal we were both sweating.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The pork belly Ramen and the mushroom Ramen are my favorite. I dont get the lunch special because I can eat a whole bowl myself. Wait staff are fun!
From the first sip of broth, I knew they were masters in the art of Ramen. Started with shishito peppers and they were blistered perfectly. Could have used a ponzu or soy sauce dip to calm the sugar crust. The buns (belly, rib and mushroomwere all perfectly balanced and loved the micro greens added. Crispy duck could have been slightly crispier to offset the softness of the noodle and egg, but the flavors were spot on. Finished off with baby bok Choy and it was cooked to perfection. The crispy bottom was just right. Cocktail menu was strong, but I didn’t care for the banana drink, but that’s on me.
We thoroughly enjoyed our ramen. The broth tasted fantastic. Noodles were great. The meat was also delicious.I especially liked their hot sauce selection. Ask to buy one and take it home like I did with the kimchi hot sauce. It’s 5$.
This place is fantastic for ramen and their varieties of appetizers. Their short rib ramen is my favorite.
Spilling the tea: soup makes me pucker, meat extra tender, but charred was the duck and a mark down from the crisp. Menus are QRd so beware you may need glasses to peruse a menu on a 5 in📱
Wow, some good food right here. Service was sloooow but the food made it worth it!
PLEASE. The Japanese whiskey was out of this world!!! I’ve never ever tried a smoother whiskey. This cocktail was also very delicious and the ramen was so very tasty! Loved the experience and the staff!
I needed help with the menu. I’ve never been here, I’ve never had ramen before, said I’m not sure what to order because I don’t understand the menu and Payton said oh…and walked away. So she took my boyfriends order. Now I’m watching him eat his food. I thought it was a servers responsibility to help customers understand and explain the menu. You should be able to explain the menu to a customer and answer any questions. Hands down the worst first experience ever.
Definitely one of top favorite for Ramen. I ordered the Pork Belly Ramen, the flavors are so so good. fugetaboutit!
The atmosphere was really nice and calm. The decor was amazing and modern. I played it safe & got the grilled chicken ramen and is was delicious! They also have a variety of sake and wine to chose from which was great but I chose the demon slayer boxed sake which was interesting. The service could have been better considering it wasn’t busy. A bit expensive but worth a try.
Omg! So many delicious options and I ordered way too much food. I was happy to see so many vegan options on the menu and just wanted to order one of everything. We had a full belly but it was worth all the different tastings. Thanks for having plant friendly options. We will be back!
Excellent place. Atmosphere is cool and modern. Short rib ramen was outstanding - tender and flavorful. They have an extensive bar with really good cocktails. Wish I lived here so I could be a regular!
Buya Ramen in St.Petersburg...A newer Diners Drive-Ins and Dives place that aired recently. We were a bit skeptical going in but we were happy campers when we were leaving! Fantastic flavors and the gal that was our server (cant recall her name Im sorry..but she was from NewYork originallywas very helpful walking us through the menu...one of the owners (Brianeven stopped by our table and visited for a bit.2021....I think weve been here four times now as its become a destination spot for us. The Crispy Duck Ramenbis my go to and the Mrs loves the Short Rib Version...the Godzilla drink is very refreshing and the Pork Gyzo appetizers are dynamite!2022:Buya...Buya Ramen!Cant get to St.Pete and not stop by one of our favorite TripleD places for some Crispy Duck Ramen, Short Rib Ramen, Pork Gyoza and of course a GODZILLA!Only knock on the visit was it was very warm in there today...with temps in the upper 70 to lower 80 range outside it was uncomfortable in there.
The food was good, just not stellar. Much of the food was surprisingly cold. The buns were cold and the ramen wasnt hot enough to make the soft egg warm. Ive rarely been to a place with coldish food. The pork belly bun was great, just cold, the shisito peppers were good, but cold. The Duck Tonkotsu was flavorful, just lukewarm. It worked for a nice rainy day, but I prefer Morimotos.
This is my first experience with restaurant quality ramen and it won’t be my last! Everything was delicious and I’ll definitely return next time I’m in the area!
Food was very good. The ramen and edamame were excellent. The goyza were just okay. We always enjoy the bao buns, they are perfectly spicy. Buys can be a bit on the expensive side, but worth it for good food.
The reason for my 3 stars is that the service is so slow. Not sure it was because we visited them on a Sunday, but the kids working there did not even acknowledge us for a while. Then the hostess sat us down and nobody came to take our order, it was a table for 2. The food was good though. We ordered the short rib and pork belly ramen. It was my second time eating ramen, and it was delicious. A little greasy for my liking, but it was delicious. The pork belly was a little hard to bite, I would definitely go with the short rib next, if I come back, because it was flavorful but also soft to the bite.
Ramen on steroids!! 6 stars!! Very kind, efficient service was exceeded only by the exceptional quality & flavor of dishes. Braised short rib ramen vs. Crispy duck ramen. No clear winner here, although the short rib is so so good!! Seaweed salad plate is not so simple here. Served as three unique portions. Yum, yum and yum. A definite, easy return anytime.
This place is very good, not perfect but very good. The edamame was shockingly addictive, maybe better than the Crispy Duck Ramen, but I digress. The Crispy Duck Ramen was very light in duck and micro greens (from what I see in other photos). But wow the broth has a complex flavor spectrum that makes you want to pick the bowl and drink. I would recommend this place to anyone, and regret not getting the Shishito peppers....next time!
We came here Saturday just to look at the menu and decided to take a seat outside and order. The host whose name I didnt get it was very friendly and great customer service. Now lets talk about our waiter SARA, she was a breath of fresh air here in St Pete. I dont have all the words to describe this wonderfully made human being who knows how to treat ALL people with kindness, grace, and decency... She made our time there while even sitting outside during the little rain storm seem like a bright sunny day! From suggesting refreshing drinks made by the BEST bartender CAMERON (whos also a wonderful human)to beautifully prepared ramen bowls. She even took the time to explain and answer all and any questions we had since this was our first time here. Everyone should come here and experience Sara and Cameron and I know you wont leave disappointed... We will be back!
We came here for the first time and it was so enjoyable. All 6 of our meals were very tasty and the pork dumplings are very good! We had chicken, short Ribs, and pork belly ramen. Also had pork belly buns that were incredible.
We came after seeing great reviews for ramen and it did not disappoint! Ramen was really good. We had the pork belly (delicious crispy pork belly!and the duck ramen. Both were delicious. We also had the pork belly bun and it was perfect! There was no wait when we arrived but they did tell us that it would take a while to get a server. It didn’t take that long but the food really did. The water wasn’t cold and we needed to ask for ice which is ok. I was happy with the food but the vibe of the restaurant was so dark and almost creepy, but that’s just me! The food is worth it so go! And maybe next time I’ll just sit outside :)
Just amazing. I thought I won by ordering the pork belly...but my girlfriend ordered the Tuna Poke Cold Noodle Salad...it was to die for. Both bowls were well flavored and balanced. The food took a little bit to come out, but it was well worth the wait.
