Butterfly Haven - Tourist attraction in Chitre, Panama
Beautiful place. A special shout-out to the staff, not only we’ve been given a tour through the place but we’ve been allowed to touch the caterpillars! To top it off they had the education movie in the Czech language as we learned the owner of the place is Czech as well
One of the most interesting and great places to visit in Anton valley, such a butterfly haven, you will have a short video explaining your experience and everything you need to know about the amazing world of butterflies, very generous nice people and very professional and experts in what they do.This place is a must see if you are ever in this area.
Beautiful and informational!
They take you into a say 60 square meter space where they have hundreds of butterflies, about 10 different types. The butterflies get to sit on you, on your hands, clothes.Afterwards there is a short explanation on how they breed the butterflies and how much the caterpillars really eat.Enjoyable. Costs 7 dollars for us outsiders.Youre outside in about an hour. There is also a short educational video on how the butterflies get their color from the structure of their wings. Theyre not pigmented.
7 dollars each for foreigners, 3 for under 12. So amazing butterflies, I would say about 12 or more different species, but the quality of the butterflies is huge, so its so charming for taking videos. Employees are so friendly and kind. They held an umbrella for us to walk to our car when we are leaving and it was raining. Very appreciated.
Charged us $7 a person (non local price). The whole thing was honestly 5 minutes. Not worth the amount of time, no one guiding you through the small room.Dont do it. Pay for the Zoo instead.
Nice place to learn more about butterfly.
Its not a choice. Its a must-see-place! You have to be there and see hundreds of butterflies and learn about their nature. Very friendly staff will answer all your questions.
Excellent. Lovely staff and a great place to see so many butterflies up close
Small but with knowledgeable staff providing good information
Lovely place with hundreds of fluttering butterflies. Educational too. Expensive for foreigners.
Misleading sign at the entrance. 5 USD entrance only for "residents". Foreigner entrance is 7 USD. Too much, butterfly gardens like these can be enjoyed all over Central America for less.
had a great visit recently to the butterfly place. staff were very nice, saw lots and lots of amazing butterflys. worth the visit, i think it was only $7 to get in.
Great attention, both spanish and english. Good prices, beautiful butterfly garden. Spectacular
Great place to visit. The staff and your was superb. They really love their butterflies and take good care of them. Was like a family experience to go around the farm and learn from the owner. I highly recommend this visit.
A good place, they teach you about the different species of butterflies and their metamorphosis process. It is quite inductive.
I’ve never been around so many butterflies. The staff was friendly and explained a little bit about each butterfly and their process. It is small and in our opinion a bit expensive for what you get. But I would recommend it
Cool place, you will see many butterfly species (15-20), the area is quite small, but they also explain the whole life of butterfly from egg to caterpillar to butterfly. Entrance is $7. It is close to city centre, if you have a spare hour in your schedule, this place will fill in your space.
Great people, breading butterflyBeautiful place to visit
Amazing experience, wonderful owners and staff. Learned a lot about butterflies 🦋 Good price for such an experience. Thanks so much again 🙏 J
Simple but beautiful. It is worth it if you are in the area.
Please note that this review is by a US tourist and not a local guide.Fun place to spend a few hours. The butterflies were beautiful. The guy running the place gave nice explainations about the butterflies. It is small, but worth the nominal charge (unlike some tourist traps here - beware of the snake place and the new visitors center who are out to fleece you!)It is worth stopping by the Butterfly Haven if you have a few minutes of down time.Lost one star just because it is small and there were limited varieties of butterflies. There is also no gift shop or other tourist trappings, which actually is quite refreshing
Lovely place the staff were really nice and the area was really cool. Had lots of different types of butterflies. At the end of the day is when they release all the new butterflies and they can put one on you. Really cool area for kids and adults.
Amazing experience. Learned a lot about butterflies as well. Very surreal and beautiful. Magical even!
Very much recommended. I had a great experience here. And the guy who showed us the park had lot of energy and explained very well. I just loved the place.
Great place! They tell you plenty of information about the caterpillars and how they develop into butterflies or moths. And show you round pointing out things like the butterflies eggs and small caterpillars you may of missed otherwise. Well worth the small entrance fee of $5
It is a great place, mainly because of the staff since they are absolutely lovely and funny. They really care about your wellbeing and provide a lot of interesting information. Really worth a visit if you are in Valle. The butterflies are very beautiful and there are many.
Good stop for a break. Limited size butterfly caged one but warm hosting and guided tour included. With the $15USD we paid. Our kids are 10 & 11.
This place is such a cute gem to visit while in El Valle. We speak mainly English but asked for a tour on Spanish and the tour guide spoke slowly and clearly for us to understand, and answered all questions we asked. This place is really cool if you want to learn more about butterflies in Panama and in general. Everyone working there was so nice!
Been to other butterfly sanctuaries and exhibits but never with this much interaction. The flew all around us, landed, and hung on as long as you wanted. Our guide was very knowledgeable with a cheerful personality and good EnglishGreat for kids. Recommended.
What a great way to spend a few hours, for adults or kids of just about any age (even our 15m old liked it)! Lots of butterflies, and knowledgeable, multilingual, staff are extremely helpful. We have been to similar enclosures in the US, but this was better, being just netted in but otherwise outdoors. Not sure that I would drive a great distance just for this, but if youre in the area I would highly recommend this be on your list. Open every day except Tuesday, $5 for adults, $1.50 for kids 11m and up.
Small but beautiful place that employs the locals. Worth seeing. Not expensive. Good cause. Butterflies a plenty!
Small place but with lots and lots of butterflies! Totally recommended. Friendly butterflies that randomly sit on you!
Truly a haven! Beautiful informative experience. Raises awareness on butterfly care, respect and how to avoid de population. Learned so much and even got to feel the butterflies standing on me!
The butterfly haven was a nice tour to see different kind of local butterfly versions at one station, understand the growth process and get some interesting information about.
Very nice place, the tour starts with a short conversation about the life of butterflies. Then, along with the guide, we go to a meeting with butterflies.
Nice tour. Perfect for a 1.5 hrs of nature. They have many different kinds of butterflies. The staff is really friendly and helpful.Make sure to come comfortable
Very nice guided tour! It stars in the room with microscope explaining the biology and development of butterflies, following by walking tour inside the Butterfly Haven house where you see in real life them eating, laying eggs and developing! You will need a good camera here to capture those beautiful butterflies.
Very nice place with enthusiastic & friendly staff. After buying an entrance ticket (USD 5I was pleasantly surprised to get a tour and a presentation. The place is small but well worth a visit.
Beautiful and charming little butterfly greenhouse. Many species of butterfly flying everywhere. Very colorful and magical. They guides there are very nice and the owner really takes good care of the place. Entrance fees very reasonable. $5/person
Thanks to the very useful and friendly guides, we learned a lot about butterlfies.
It was really perfect place... First time in my life I was able to touch a lot of these creatures and to learn a lot thanks to our guides in the house... I wish you would be able to visit this place and see the beauties of the nature... Thanks guys for your hospitality... Wish you big success!
An amazing experience. Walking among the butterflies was amazing. I learned a lot here.
