A mix of zoo exhibits, including a butterfly house, plus a dinosaur area, playground & train.
Great place to visit, lots to see great for the kids
It is place to take children as there is heaps of animals there My two children love the place, we took their Nana there for her birthday and she love it too.
Really good place for the kids. We went as a primary year level group and they did really well with organising the feeding times for us parent helpers. It’s a good size park with loads of things to see and do. There is a train that circles the swamp which is a few dollars per person. Huge shaded area to eat at and a cafe that has an ok selection of food. Their coffee was mediocre however. I’m pretty sure you can’t bring your own food though. May pay to check that one by ringing them.
My daughter and family really enjoyed the day.. Thank you to the staff..
An amazing place for little ones, say under 5 or so, which can easily keep them exciding for a few hours then become exhausted, and give parents some quiet time afterwards. Just a tiny change needed to get my 5 stars: open a bit earlier in weekend, say 8am or 8:30am, so that we could have good a few hours here before little ones midday sleep.
Beautifully decorated and well laid out, it looks like theyre working on expanding the place which it definitely needs, but for a couple of hours or so it makes for a good spot to drop in and pass the time.
Great place to to take your kids... zoo animals, butterflies, dinosaurs and a train ride around the park. Lots of fun... rain or shine!
What a wonderful venue for a child’s birthday celebration. We attended my granddaughter’s birthday party on the weekend and family and friends were all so impressed. A great party room, delicious (and healthyparty pack lunches for the children and a variety of tasty pizzas for the adults. With face painting, a hands on experience feeding and patting small animals, a fun dinosaur park and play area, beautiful tropical fish, scary tarantula’s and crocodiles and a beautiful butterfly enclosure the children were entertained the whole time. The train ride around the park was fun for young and old. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful and made hosting the birthday party so stress free. We will definitely be taking the grandchildren back for another fun day out. Would thoroughly recommend.
My kids have an annual pass and honestly the staff are always very kind. I don’t know why I haven’t left a review sooner! I arrived rather early this morning and there were two ladies at reception and one was in training. They were both lovely to deal with! The lady who was teaching the new staff member was very professional and patient with the new employee. It was really nice to see, the new staff member has a welcoming smile which is the best thing to see when you first walk in to butterfly creek. The young lad at the farm at around 10.30am was lovely. The man driving the train for all the school kids and elderly groups this morning was also very lovely. We saw most animals today, lots of butterflies and even the kiwi.Well done butterfly creek!
Service in Cafe was a little slow and at times not very friendly. But the butterflies are amazing at the moment, so many and they love to land on you. The grounds are beautifully kept and so beautiful.
What an amazing adventure! We paid $55 for our family of 3 and had the best time of our lives. Nothing short of a Zoo trip. Beautiful butterflies, a solitary alligator, a bone crunching crocodile, the ever elusive Kiwi, lots of lizards and creepy crawlies and not to forget the Dragons and Dinosaur. Its a whole different world altogether. We were right on cue for the crocodile feeding which was the highlight of the day! Then there was that fantastic train ride. Lots to do for the whole family. We had also heard of it but having experienced it first hand was something else entirely. Highly recommended for a full family adventure. Facilities are nice and clean and the food was good for the price. Absolutely wonderful.
Would love to go again to spend more time with butterflies. If we knew before hand that its very hot in the creek area with butterflies we would have dressed for it. We by passed the butterflies so fast cause we were not prepared for the heat. Overall we enjoyed our day and my daughter spent her 9th birthday here. Finishing off with a train ride. Thank you to all the staff, especially the beautiful lady who serves in the cafe. Beautiful customer service guys. Appreciated. Thank you all for a great day
Good little spot for some wildlife watching covering both indoor and outdoor animals from a variety of continents. The butterfly house was lovely with some choosing to land on us. On a rainy day it was a bit harder to enjoy the outdoor attractions with minimal visitor coverage to observe the animals.Great location for families, including hosting parties. Cafe on site as well!
I love Butterfly Creek..Such an awesome place for the family especially the kids. The dinosaur part is amazing, walking through and seeing these huge dinosaur statues that look so real. Our girls loved the farm animals and the train ride is a added bonus. Friendly staff and great location with lots of parking. The cafe also has some delicious meals with reasonable prices.
Absolutely amazing place. My Son loved this place so much he went twice in a single day!
Nice place to go, lots to see. Friendly atmosphere, would definitely recommend 👍🏽
Kids of all ages will love this place. We got to see a crocodile being fed chicken. So intriguing!!
Blown away by the customer service for our visit. We called from the airport requesting a pickup and their van was here super quick. For our ticket price we got airport transfers in both directions, baggage storage and 2 very happy children. Thank you Butterfly Creek for making our day easier and fun.
Wow. What a great place to go. Kids loved it. We had a layover at Auckland airport and they were able to pick us up. Shuttle back was much less flexible, but also an easy walk.Lots to see and do there!
Its a fun place for kids. They have been upgrading during the years, other than lots of butterflies, we can see eels, crocodiles, kiwis and lots of other animals here. And a train for $3.5 one run. I saw kiwi both times I went, they might have very friendly kiwis there, both time I went, at least one would come to the glass side very close.
Awesome place to go for a explore, with or without kids, good variety of animals to see and the staff are very friendly, train ride is good but is over very quickly
What a place filled with nostalgic memories, it was so good to be back to this place it has withheld its place as the coolest zoo in New Zealand everyone needs to check this out 10/10
Lots to see and do for young children. A great variety of wildlife, Farm animals, butterflies, moving dinosaurs, crocodiles, kiwi birds and lizards. Probably one of the more expensive attractions in Auckland but still a great day out.
Really enjoyed it with the kids and there is still more attractions to come, the train ride is a bit of a disappointment. Crocodile are awesome but would be even better if we were able to witness a feeding. Just to make it a bit more exciting. But overall a decent place for the kids to explore mother natures wonderful creatures and our national symbol the Kiwi.
Always a favourite for the kids. There’s a good special on if you book online and it was monly $30 for an adult, 3-15 year old and under 3 (doesn’t include train). You save 35% but it’s only on until 3rd July 2022 and limited number per day can get the discount so book your day early. There’s plenty to see if your little ones are inquisitive and you can take your time with ours stops along the way. Butterfly’s and reptiles are a favourite at home for us, as are the dinosaurs and petting farm animals. We love going early weekdays, snacking as we walk around and the having a bit to eat once we depart. Makes for a stimulating morning and almost alway guarantees a nap in the car on the way home. I’m not a huge fan of caged animals personally hence the 4 stars, there are a few areas a little tired but it looks as though a new porcupine and tarantula enclosure is coming so there some investment happening continually.
This place is weird and stressful, with really questionable spaces for some of the animals.Butterfly house was neat but full of a surprising amount of parents letting their children literally kill the butterflies. Petting zoo was depressing. A bunch of animals in sad concrete pens, and a rabbit on display for petting with no way to escape if it didnt enjoy it.The mythical creatures exhibit is a fun idea, would be neat to see it updated to something that felt post-90s (fairies and Egyptian Gods are a weird choice for 2022). This area was fun for how strange it was. The Kraken was my favourite. But ultimately I dont recommend this place. Its sad. If you do go, avoid the crowds of apathetic parents.
Unfortunately not a whole day out 3-4 hours tops. The Animatromic dinosaurs were really cool (and the reason it was 3 stars not 1but then let down by the employee in a dinosaur costume not even trying. I mean come on mate at least wear some tights or something. It was embarrassingly bad all the kids were pointing at the legs while the parents sniggered. I felt really bad for the young lady trying to entertain the kids while the kids and parents laughed.
A great place to entertain your kids in Auckland. Good food too.
My preschoolers love it so i love it! Its a nice place to take the kids for a couple hours to let off steam. Just enough variety without it being too overwhelmingly disjointed, my kids love roaming and experiencing a variety of creatures. The farm animals are the icing on the cake and a nice way to wrap up hours of looking and not touching. a truly sensory experience for the little ones and just big enough for the kids to roam without getting lost.
Great place for all ages to visit with a good variety of animals to see. Enjoyed the train ride that goes twice round the park. Food is enjoyable but on the expensive side and the only food for coeliacs was a caramel slice. This place doesnt cater for those with dietary requirements.
Kids will enjoy for sure. A small train ride, feed the animals, photos with dinosaurs, can see eel, crocodile, alligator etc.. Shops and restaurant qith in..
Need more picnic tables around the park but otherwise a awesome experience
A good place to spend on a typical day, children will surely have fun and will enjoy what theyll see.
Great place for a day out with kids.Cafe food wasnt the best and there was a lot of wasps in some areas.
Lots of fun activities. You can see not only the butterflies, but also see fish, dansours, ancient Egypt, farm animals, etc.
Great place for kids to see the crocodiles, and real kiwis and to interact with some farm animals. You can also hop on a train that takes you through some moving Dinos, Dragons, Unicorns and Mermaids.
Gorgeous place to visit with kids. We encountered with butterflies, rabbits, pigs, chickens, goats, sheeps, alpacas and many more lovely animals. Dinosaurs around us seems like original ones, my little one got scared first 😀😀 then we took a train ride, its only $3.50 extra per person. And lastly we had a tasty lunch in the cafe. An awesome half day trip with kids
My kids love butterfly creek. Specially the dinosaurs and train ride. And also they love to pat the bunnies there. too. There is a playground as well.
Great place for young and old.Just unfortunate that we could not get the kids on the train ride as queues were too long on the day.Would happily go again.
Sadly due to COVID there are not many butterflies, I think I counted 5? At the time. Definitely room for improvement, some displays had nothing and they could provide more information about the animals with better displays and more ‘interactions’. We enjoyed feeding the animals the train and the dragon / dinosaur / unicorn displays. Wish there were more staff around to help take photos of my son and I. The iguana was very cool! Beautiful glasshouse with plants. As an indoor plant enthusiast, maybe you could try growing rare pants in there? That would be amazing!!!!
We really like visiting butterfly Creek 🦋 ❤ especially our kids they really enjoyed exploring the whole places as there so many things to do for kids they get see experience a tour guide by friendly staff on how Alligator are being fed.Kids get to see different kinds of insects, Butterflies also habitat of Kiwi home.We get to captured beautifull pics with Dinosaurs 🦕,Egyptians sts, 🦄, and the fun part kids love going short Train Ride as well as getting opportunity to feed the farm animals like 🐐, 🐔, and other farm Animals but most of Animals may be due to hot sunny day they like to hide and take shed so we are unable to feed them. But kids has and awesome time pamperring their favourite Animal Fluffy Rabbit.I would highly recommend others to visit this nice places your whole family will loved it:)It would be best if you pack your own snacks or sandwich 🥪 😉 and bring own water bottle to keep u going and side by side enjoy the scenic beauty of Butterfly Creek .As a family we all had a fabulous day ❤
Really great day out for the whole family. Dont be fooled by the name, there is much more here than butterflies... Cotton top monkeys, crocodiles and alligators, spiders, otters, fish, eels, dinosaurs, unicorns, playground, train, cafe and a bunch more.Train ride should be included in the entry and chips should come with sauce at the cafe. Both come across like a tacky cash grab.
Had an awesome time here! Heaps to do and shows to see with the animals if you choose too. The only improvement suggestion I have is to have seperate lines to enter the barn and to buy the food pellets. Because theres a limit of 10 max in the barn at any time to pet the animals in there and you can only get the food pellets in the barn- we had to wait in the line no for 30mins with people waiting to go and pet the animals in there and all we wanted was some bags of food. Other than that - great day!!!
Nice place to visit, especially with kids. But encounters are not on time. Had to wait 10min for Reptile encounter but no one showed up. I asked to someone on reception and the encounter wasnt cancelled. Too confusing
Way better than expected. A++I see other reviewers saying there arent alot of butterflies around at the moment. We saw plenty and one actually landed on my sons head which was a highlight. We spent many hours here without getting bored and went to most of the encounters with the animals at set times. Watching the crocodile have lunch was amazing and not something I thought wed get to see in NZ.The train ride was fun too.
Great place to bring the kids or to come on a date or just to visit in general, the encounters are great fun and awesome to see and you learn a bit too, the staff are super friendly. Plenty of parking as well. You can spend the entire day here with just looking around to going and seeing the farm animals and also they have a great cafe on site too! Def recommend coming here if you’re looking for something to do!
Such a cool place with a variety of activities and displays for children and adults to do. There were really cool dinosaur sculptures, animal encounters, the butterfly house, farm animals you can pet, a café, gift shop, a courtyard, playground and party rooms you can hire. A really great place to spend some whanau time.
Was so massive, heaps to explore. . Had kid stuff too which is awesome.Cafe had wide variety of food and drinks. . Why alcohol could not be served in the afternoon - i dont know.Go when it is open 🙂🙃
Great place for family and friends. When here in 2019 and amazing animals . See eels and kiwi 🐦. The Weather was perfect and not lots of people at the park. Must visit place if you are around town.
Great place for young family educational adventure, children will enjoy walking through passageways/doorways viewing different areas. There are butterflies, alligator, crocodiles, kiwis, insects, spiders a petting zoo, dinosaurs, a short train ride, theres a lot for kids to enjoy for all ages. When you need to feed the family there is a cafeteria/eatery and covered dining area if you want to take your own lunch.
