Butera's in Sayville

What a lovely dining experience. The food was absolutely creative and delicious and copious amounts were served. If you want to take your family out and impress your mother-in-law go to Buteras.

One of my top 5 family restaurants. They have a few locations and weve been to this particular location many times and usually leave satisfied. Yes, its family style with large portions - but I dont care how much food you get if it isnt good. They turn out some pretty fine dishes. While they have traditional Italian dishes, they also offer what they call "new" Italian dishes of which I really like. Many of the pasta dishes are in the $25-$30 range (but again, theyre family size).I love mussels and Buteras has the absolute best white sauce version (another restaurant choice of mine wins for red sauce, but Buteras by far is my favorite white - ever). Lots of wine/butter sauce with thinly-sliced garlic and crunchy bread to sop it up. Its rich and not for the faint-of-heart. I usually order it alone since my wife and son do not like mussels but they both dip bread into the sauce. They then share a pasta dish and I order a pasta dish for myself which I take half of home, after eating a large portion of mussels. We usually experience good service, great food and a friendly atmosphere and that keeps us coming back.Edit 11/22: Like everything, prices have increased substantially.

Best Italian food on Long Island. Kinda on the pricer side but well worth it. The calamari is always perfect. Fyi they are open on the weekends.

I m sorry but the place is extremely dirty. Food is not good at all. Furcis pizzeria chicken parm is million times better. Steak was worst than rubber ! Unfortunately First and the last time here !

Went for a funeral lunch. Food was delicious but waitress forgot to bring mine, and didnt get until everyone else was done eating (pasta Primaveranot a difficult dish to make. The manager was very apologetic, And everything was OK until waitress decided to forget my cappuccino also.. Staff needs some training.. Food was delicious

From the bread basket to the salad dressing to the seafood lasagna, there were culinary surprises. What a great place to enjoy a unique meal.

Amazing lunch with huge portions at an affordable price! We got the grilled shrimp salad, mushroom asparagus and grilled chicken salad, and rigatoni alla rosa. The salad was perfectly dressed! The shrimp was slightly over cooked but till enjoyable. It also had 2 slices of bread that were really really hard which is I think their version of a crouton. We did ask for bread and it came with some olive oil. Definitely coming back for more affordable and delicious meal options!FYI - Costco sells gift cards here at a cheaper price!

It was a nice place for dinner... I liked the fact that they catered to both family style as well as smaller regular meals.The employees were friendly, courteous and very helpful.

Delicious entrées as we enjoyed Rigatoni Shrimp & Vodka and Rigatoni Butera...excellent taste and cooked to perfection .

Sorry Buteras - I wish I could give you more stars. My second time here - I had the steak pizaola the first time and was underwhelmed at the quality of the steak -- though the accompanying onions, peppers and sauce were tasty. Second time I decided to try it again and it was honestly tough as old boots. I should have sent it back, but didnt want to ruin the evening with the family by complaining. Giving the place 3 stars because I didnt give them the opportunity to fix it -- if you go here, stick to the pasta dishes and stay away from the steak - they seem to consistently use lesser quality cuts. Prices are pretty high too - expect $90 per couple for salad, app and dessert.

From Cesear salad, calamari, veal parmesan food was excellent and so was the Service.

Excellent food , outstanding atmosphere and good service.

Went there today with a party of 6 everything was delicious and everybody enjoyed the food. Calamari, Shrimp, Veal, Stuffed Mushrooms and Tiramisu all Excellent. Very nice quiet Jazz band called Cafe Society every other Tuesday definitely a plus and made the night very Enjoyable.

My wife’s and I , first time at Butera’s In SayvilleGiven a gift card to try it out.The Food was great! From the Mussle’s in wine sauce to the chicken Gorgonzola with pasta was terrific. While eating we decided on an upcoming family event to have it here.Great job to all , our hostess was also so terrific.Chris D

I love this place. Food is amazing; the manager who works Monday and Tuesday treats the place like he owns it. He is kind, attentive, personable, and makes you want to give him your business. The place is clean, quiet, and food is delicious. Cocktails were good, too. Waitress was great! I cant say enough. Highly, highly, recommend!

The food here is great. I ordered the eggplant parmesan and it was flavorful and crispy. Definitely recommend. I also ordered a cucumber Martini that was great too. The only thing was the side of pasta with tomato sauce I ordered with my eggplant was too salty. The manager here is very nice, comes to the tables asks how youre doing thanks you and talks to you like hes known you forever. Great spot

Im definitely a "frequent flyer" here! One of the best Italian restaurants . Their gorgonzola salad is the bomb! And thats coming from someone that does not get excited about salad. I have never been disappointed here. From the Linguini with white clam sauce to shrimp and chicken parm. Very fresh. A little pricey but worth it.

Great food and great service. I have eaten here dozens of times and it never disappoints. The big text is the gravy and it is outstanding.

I am just awed by this amazing restaurant. Jerry, Paul, Denise and the rest of the staff were so accommodating. Another restaurant canceled my reservation when I was conducting a Fundraiser for a local family. With two days notice I had to find another venue.. The Shrimp Francese was so yummy and of course the tartufo. The staff was so friendly and they all worked so well together. A really nice, warm, family atmosphere. Thank you. ❤

Always delicious! Staff is courteous and attentive and the food is homey, plentiful, and worth the trip...We have also used this Buteras in Sayville to cater our company parties ..the Manager Paul is top-notch.

I felt bad for the couple that probably spent alot of money to have celebration party here. The husband hardly ate and so did others, specially the children. Worst part was steak was burned on outside, raw on inside and chewy. Chicken was thin, eggplant cooked to much. Penne pasta to much hot sauce or pepper. Salad was mostly raw spinach, and another green, red raw onion chunks, sliced carrot and one of each large black and green olive. Cake was refrigerator cold and wet, chocolate pudding had no taste, icing only good part. Plates of food handled by young boys bare hands with thumbs on food area. My wife woke up this morning with runs, I think because she had tea. I had one sip water and didnt go any further. Im not allowed caffeine so no soda. Will never go back, even if invited for another party. Pass

We had a large family gathering here. Waitstaff was excellent, patient with all of us. Meals were delicious. Some desserts werent quite thawed out but great cheesecake. My Moms, daughters favorite restaurant!!

Really great, authentic Italian food with wonderful pasta dishes as well wonderful fish and chops. My family and I typically dine here for lunch and the portions are always large and the prices are quite reasonable. Quite frankly, you cant go wrong here. Every dish weve tried here has been plentiful, fresh, and delicious.

It was good but wanted to say was a bit disappointed did family style there was four of us ordered chicken marcel and only received the exact amount of chicken four. So I guess if you ordered individual you would only get one chicken. Also, order Canoli it was only filled on either side the middle was not filled. Very sad..

We had a death in the family and we held a bereavement lunch. They offered a fix price menu and worked with us on the number of people Very friendly service and the owner came to pay his respects. The food tasted fresh and was very good.

Went for lunch today and had a great experience. We ate outside, since we had our puppy with us. Everyone was very nice but especially our waitress. Our food was incredibly good...cant wait to go back...scallop salad was fantastic 😋

Great prices with good sized portions! I will go back, but Ill try something different. My chicken parm needed more flavor and was a bit dry. The desserts werer wonderful. I didnt want to get fries but the only option for salad dressing was Greek or oil and vinegar, both of which I hate.

The very best calamari ever. I have learned through trial and repeated errors. Don’t order calamari anywhere else but Butera’s. They hold the standard. Every visit to Sayville includes dinner at Butera’s. Great atmosphere. Staff is professional, courteous, and attentive. I wish them success so I can continue to enjoy their product.

The place is extremely dirty , I would never go back. Waiter was so rude. Clams were Sandy when I told the waiter he said that everyone raves about their clams. Instead of saying I’m so sorry what can I get you instead? Hard to believe that clams can be Sandy? When I asked if there was dairy on the bread the waiter said 100 percent not. After I ate it I got sick he came back and said that he thought I meant mozzarella cheeses. I have a severe allergy to dairy and couldn’t eat the rest of the night. Instead I watched the friends I was with eat dinner. They really need to clean this establishment I don’t know how they are in business.

The food was absolutely delicious! As a heads up, the prices on the menu might seem a tad high, but thats because the menu is served family style (meant to be shared between more than one person). You CAN order in smaller portions. As a heads up, pasta is an unexpectedly separate order. (Which can come off a bit surprising if youre expecting pasta with your chicken parm)Ive also been here for a more than one office party, and can vouch for the high quality of their catering.The service was great and Id definitely recommended them. This place is worth your time and money.

The one star is purely for the service- but it was so bad that’s all anyone could talk about. We had my son’s baptism at Butera’s today and the food was wonderful, however, our server was horrific. We had to ask for serving spoons, plates, water/soft drink refills, silverware multiple times before our server finally brought us any needed items. It took 45 minutes for our appetizers (which were pre-ordered before we even showed up to the restaurantto come out after our whole party was seated. My own guests had to package up the food as the boxes were just dropped on the table. When we asked for forks for the cake, the server couldn’t figure out how many to get so we just had a handful of forks dropped on our table. I was horrified that this was the service we received not only for my son’s special day, but when we were spending so much money here. We did bring up our concerns to the manager and while he was mildly apologetic and gave us a small gift card to come back, I would never recommend a large party here. I am so upset we just wasted our money here on my son’s baptism.

Excellent food served Family style. Great value considering the size of the dishes. The service was very attentive even though they were quite busy with a large party. This was my first visit. It will not be my last.

My family and I come here often, the atmosphere, staff and manager are exceptional. VERY accommodating. The food is always delicious, they sure know what consistency means in recipes. There is never too much or too little seasoning, its always the same. Often times you go to places you love and you know that there mustve been a change in the cook line. But here, everything is always delicious all the time.

Our family had the pleasure of dinning at Buteras for dinner last night. We found there to be plenty of parking and all the covid policies were followed. Complimentary bruschetta, hummus and toast complimented the traditional basket of bread. The Calamari and the Stuffed Mushrooms were delish. Every entrée was perfectly prepared and both family" and individual size portions were generous. The Seafood Lasagna was to die for! The service was equally outstanding. It was easy to see why they have done so well throughout the pandemic!

BUTERAS dishes are uniquely flavorful & generously portioned. Great decor / vibe with fabulous service. You know they have been doing this a long time. They get it right.

Will recomend, wines is always good, and the food is great and reasonably priced

Weve been here quite a few times and dont have any complaints. We were just there for my sons college graduation dinner. This restaurant is labeled as family style because of the portions, not because it is family/child friendly to clear that up. Family style restaurants serve large portions. Each entree is meant to serve 2-3 adults unless you order a half portion. I love this style restaurant as it allows everyone in your party to have a little of everything ordered. The food is always great when we go and service is great as well. We never have to ask them to bring bread or anything to the table and our wait for food is never long. Children are welcome here as I have seen a few so it is child friendly. It is a little on the small side so reservations should be made. We will definitely be going back.

Food was delicious. All family style portions, were are quite large, so being your appetite. I had the Seafood over linguine which was delicious. We ordered 3 dinners for our party of food, and we all had leftovers to bring home. The service was great also. Nice atmosphere inside. Great dinning experience.
