Bush's Chicken in Gatesville

Came in at 9 (an hour before closingand was first told it would be a 20min wait for tenders, no big deal. The guy goes inside then comes back out and said the cook told him it would be 45mins because he had already broken down to 1 fryer. I could understand if we came a half hour or 15 mins before closing but a full hour, really?! Felt more like a brush off so that they didnt have to serve anyone.

I really dont know where to start. The first time that I ate here I was given what looked to me to be leftovers. The food was cold and had obviously been picked over throughout the entire day. I gave them a second chance and it was the exact same as before. Why on earth would you sell someone cold food. Do you guys not realize that it isnt your money thats being spent. You DO NOT serve someone anything other than freshly cooked food. I will never eat here again!!!

Not crazy about this store they dont have the prices out so you dont know what to get plus they charge $0.50 more for tea which I dont might pay for tea but they cut back on the tea leaves so youre drinking sugar water they dont have the help half the time they even have to close early sometimes because they are black of help and its the only chicken place in town you would think

Food is okay is what is to be expected from fast food restrooms and floors need cleaning signs and lights are out all over the building shows how much management and corporate care about this place but they want our cash tho for there over priced chicken

I have eaten at several Bush’s and have never had the tenders as salty as they were at the one in Gatesville. I don’t know if they normally use a lot of salt,$ but these were so salty I could barely eat them. If I hadn’t been so hungry, I probably would have thrown them out. I will not be eating here again.

Good inexpensive meal for a road trip. The server was really outgoing.

Dont get me wrong, nothing wrong with the taste. Portions have gone so far down on tenders (which is all I eatthat its more crust than meat. Its been that way for years.

Fast service and the food was good. If you like bushes chicken, youll love this one.

The drive thru line is fast with courteous, helpful staff. The food is hot and good. Be ready for moving targets on prices if you are a returning customer and dont forget to bring your reading glasses for the tiny printed menu.

You cant beat the ice tea! The chicken tenders are good and the gravy is nice and hot. The servers get to your car very quickly and taken care of and on the way.

Tenders were not even enough to fill any of the rolls gravy was literally so cold it was just a ball of mush and i tipped the girl 3.75 for a meal i paid 15 for and she forgot the gravy that then came out cold and my hot sauce and i reiterated and expressed the concern for hot sauce and tipped her before my meal came. Pssht. Wont make this mistake again. COME ON DRIVE WAITRESS ITS CALLED INTEGRITY.

Disappointing mostly. They rarely have ice, or so they say. You order tea and it’s warm…you buy a gallon and it’s warm…at least before when they couldn’t/wouldn’t attempt to accommodate your need for cold tea they were at least pleasant. Current staff with the exception of 2 are rude and have obviously chose the wrong job. Furthermore, they skip over vehicles and help whoever next regardless how long you’ve been there. Call me crazy but in my day ? Customer service mattered, it meant something!

Alex was a polite and competent waiter, however, the ketchup and bbq sauce I requested were both missing from my order when I got home and noticed, and they were closing when I left so that wasnt cool. The food is okay for the price with a larger variety of sides than done similar restaurants. Over Id say its a fair price for what they offer. If eat there again, but probably not too often since fast food isnt a priority for me.

All ordering here is handled in person by staff. No box. Service was fast, pleasant and the food served hot. Soft drinks were refreshing. Such a markedly different experience from the Hamilton Bushs where the food is cold and you have to repeat your order 3 or 4 times.

Got chicken here today. Food was good. But how they handle the drive through lanes is unacceptable. They don’t have any type of system to make sure those who have waited the longest get served first. They just ask who’s next. Of course people aren’t very honest when it comes to that situation.

I go to Bushs for their tea its the best & every time Ive gone I didnt have to wait in line too long & their employees were friendly or at least the ones Ive was served by.

I like how the come to your car to take your order and to pay. I like the chicken tenders and sides, the bone in chicken is ok but I pretty much never get it. Tender Tuesday is a common choice if it aint tacos. 😅

Always great! However, Is it me, or am I starting to see a trend. Fast food restaurants (now this placenow print off your (card recieptticket with a "Tip Block"? Rediculous concept for fast food chains. I guess everyone is entitled to "more" no matter what. Not.

Love the fact that the staff come to your vehicle. Excellent fried chicken. First time eating here. Friendly staff. Parked in the parking lot area to eat as we were passing through. will eat here again next time. i should have asked for ketchup for the fries.

Consistent good fried chicken (Tender Tuesday Special), a bit too saltly but good. Gizzards and Livers tend to be tough and over cooked. Great sides and fair prices.

I ordered at 8pm not really busy but their was a few cars I ordered a sweet tea and family sized fry. I got my drink and amy the one that took my order told me to pull off to the side and she will bring the frys out. 10 cars and 20 mins later still waiting for the frys. I used to work at this Bushs and I know it doesnt take that long. They refunded my money but the service is getting worse

👎👎Chicken is very greasy and its the cheapest chicken they can fine. Tea is always tasting old. Sadly its the only place locally that has corn nuggets. (Canes would definitely be an improvement to this town also.)

The food is great if you actually get it. We have ordered chicken livers several times, and never got them. I live 26 miles from this restaurant, I am not willing to drive another 52 miles to go back and get my food. I feel totally ripped off and that the employees do not care if my order is correct. This is one reason that I am only giving a 1 star rating. The other reason is that when the employee took my order at the drive thru today, SHE ASKED cash or card, and I said card then handed my credit card to her. When she returned with my food she told me the amount, and just looked at me. I said thank you and held out my hand for the receipt. She then informed me that it had not been paid for, and I told her that I had given her my card. She went back in to look for it, then came out and told me that she didnt get my card or she would have ran it. I told her yes I did, but gave her my debit card and told her I would just cancel my credit card. She kept insisting that she never took it and didnt have it. I am guessing that another customer received my credit card and either was not aware of it, or kept it without returning it. I IMMEDIATELY contacted the credit card company to cancel my card, and to freeze my account. Thank God that it was a credit card, and not my debit card that had gotten lost.To top everything off when I got home, guess what......... NO CHICKEN LIVERS!!! NEVER AGAIN!!! I will never go to this restaurant just to get robbed!

Came in around lunch time. Not very busy on the inside (might have been on the drive through not surenoone was at counter when we walked up. Small group of 5 or 6 of us came in and took about 8-10 minutes for all of us to get our orders in. Order tenders with mac and cheese and also side of jalapeno poppers. Needless to say, the meal was pretty bland. Tenders werent the worst Ive had but nowhere near the best. The Mac and cheese was not very hot (luke warm at bestI ate about 3 bites before not eating anymore due to lack of flavor and temp. The taste and looks of the jalapeno poppers must be recieved from the same supplier as Sonics. Out of all the food they were the best. Best the best part of the meal was just sweet tea. Not worth time and money

The service was outstanding and the food as well. Big problem happened when I got home and discovered there were no rolls with our familys meal. When the bread is so good it can cause trouble, PLEASE dont forget to include it in the package!

Great service, good food as long as you request fresh cooked. I have been served soggy, greasy fries so now I always ask for fresh cooked.

We have always loved Bushs Chicken, however, the last several times, including today, we have eaten there it has been untidy and unkept, the food is not good, Tenders are unbelievably small, over-cooked, and just not appetizing. Cole slaw was very watery, fries were cold, and after ordering a leg and a thigh, young lady came to table and said they had no legs. Roasted breast was very small. Another thing, we checked 4 tables before we found one that had any honey left in bottles. Gentleman from another table offered us his and it too had only about 1/4 in of honey in bottle. Dont know whats going on but we wont go back .

I recently called Bush’s to inform them that forgot my gravy that I had ordered, and the manager stated that she would comp my next meals. This morning my wife and I stopped by there on our way to church to buy a 15 piece chicken to take with us for the fellowship meal after. When we tried to pay for the chicken, the manager said that there was no charge. What a great place. Thanks so much.

Not sure whats up with Bushs lately... Not sure if theyre just getting old or they are keeping up on maintenance properly. They just seem dirty and unkept. We were just passing through and we stopped to get supper. We ordered a family meal of chicken and went had a seat. A young lady came up to us that work there and said that our chicken was going to be another 15 minutes or so being its still cooking. She asked me if that was okay... I asked her if I had a choice!Two things... I could see a bunch of chicken sitting back there on the racks. Ive no idea why we had to wait. Secondly, why didnt they tell us this when we paid. My wife and I wanted chicken on the bone and my kids wanted tenders. If they would have said is going to be an extra weight for chicken we would have just got tenders.Im not giving up on Bushs Bean is one of our familys favorite, but I have been disappointed by last two visits for sure.

Just got supper for tonight and its a disappointment. The gizzard are small and over cooked the didnt send the pickled peppers. And I gave a tip. This will not be a place I order from any time soon also seems like its run by children with all the youngsters. But they were polite and respectful

I got bad mashed potatoes,when I told the manager,she never heard of soured mashed potatoes. Said she tasted them and they were okay to her.she was too busy on her phone.

Basic fast food chicken. Pieces tend to be small, seasoning slight to non-existent. Offers a variety of sides, mostly fried, and mashed potatoes. Best day is Tuesday for bargain family order of tenders. Dine in and drive through service until 9pm. Clean accessible bathrooms. Dining room clean and neat. Very average fast food joint.

Tenders compared to chicken express 👎service was quick but not friendly very small tenders and no flavor I travel all of Texas and Louisiana and stay on the road about 4 days a week and this was one of the worst I’ve had in 7 years. I’ll go for subway or Junction on 36 next time dependable.

I’m in the drive through waiting my turn. The problem is as follows. If I don’t know what I want. I must see the posted menu. Any small amount of people waiting to place a order will STOP you from seeing that menu on the wall. My question is, why would they not place another before that point? It’s the only chicken picken place in Gatesville. Sad as that may be. I assume IF we had others to choose from? The outcome of Bush’s being the greatest would’ve another outcome. Just a honest opinion of course.

The food here, while greasy is very good for the price you pay. The young people who work here are always quick, happy to help, and on the ball. After school lets out Bushs gets very busy but even so you never have to wait too long.

I was there tonite trying to have chicken Bushs for dinner. I had a bad experience with that stingy manager Keshaa. She wanted to replace 3 chicken breast with 3 wings!! Heck NO!!!! They lost my business for that miserly. 😠

This is the slowest chicken place I have ever been to dont not go there if you only have an hour for lunch you will have to wait approximately 15 to 20 minutes sometimes to get your food in the drive-through lane they will ask you to scoot over and park and just pass you over and over and over This place is number one bullship I will never ever go to this place again waited 15 minutes in the chicken still wasnt ready forget that krapp . The manger was just talking and talking to the costumers, while we were waiting for our tenders and the cook was no were to be found so they made the cashier with a broken arm make the tenders while everyone was staring at him. Very bad management. Wont be coming back.

Good chicken when you get it fresh. I also like to cole slaw. Place is always clean, and the drive thru is fast. Nice group of people working there with a great attitude.

And look out for their unannounced manager specials (for example: 10 humongous wings for 5 bucks- were talking big wings with breast meat!Imho bushes has the best tasting chicken around, even better than kfc, dont forget to try their red hot apple pie, its definitely different unique and yummy!
