Upscale cafe dining, plus high tea and scones, on a wraparound verandah with water views.
Beautiful setting, staff are lovely, good service, but the food was not great at all - especially for the price. We ordered the pork belly and Caesar salad for mains. The pork was a small portion size for $40 main, that would have been fine if it was done really well. The skin was not crispy, it was flabby and came with a sprinkling of sea salt on top, which deceived me in thinking that I will get a great crackling. The flavours were good and it was well rendered. I wouldn’t order it again. The Caesar salad was worse. For a classic salad, the dressing was underwhelming, tasted like just mayanoise. There were no croutons, instead were crostinis that were not crispy at all. The little pieces of ham/bacon were not crispy and weren’t pleasant in the dish. For a $30 + classic salad, they really missed the mark. The chocolate mousse dessert was good. We have been here before and the food was fantastic. Unlikely to return/recommend.
Great food, amazing service and super friendly and professional staff.Thomas is a star. THANK YOU SO MUCH for helping our big group, you made our day :)
Staff are super efficient. Food is fresh and good sized portions. Menu isnt extensive but two salad options are excellent. Water glimpses and parking at the top of the hill. Not great if it is raining.
We recently catered a wedding here at Burnt Orange. The place was really nice and the team were amazing. Tabitha, the events manager helped us and was very responsive to our questions. Looking forward to working with the team again.
Great food but terrible service - special occasion so booked online two weeks ago and 50% deposit taken. About a week ago, personally called restaurant to confirmed booking since email didn’t arrive. However once we turn up, still no booking. During the high tea session, few times our drink order has been forgotten. The most memorable was by the time we paid our remaining bill and 5 minutes after left the restaurant and just about to get in car - some chased me for the first time in my life - claiming we didn’t pay the bill !!!
Lovely laid back atmosphere with a beautiful view of the harbour. Price is on the higher side but expected given the level of service and venue. Great for a special occasion lunch.. Meals were all really good.
Great food, great customer service and the coffee was the best.
Great food and friendly staff. Service is so so. I was served a salad with a dessert fork, then the waiter took down my order for an orange juice and I had never received it. No dairy free options. My teacup came out dirty.
High Tea was delicious and plentiful! Unlimited tea, coffee and hot chocolate included in $60pp which is great value compared to other places. Views are beautiful too! Pay parking available a short walk away, but you do need to go up a slight hill and then some steps.
Disappointing - not what it used to be. Our food came out only 5 minutes after we ordered, so it definitely wasn’t made fresh to order. Food was cold and average. We ordered large coffees & received small. Just felt like a pretty underwhelming breakfast & wasnt cheap!
Location and venue are beautiful, just great for Sunday breakfast. I would say food is 4/5, staff was great. Spent 100aud for 2 ppl for brekkie
Great restaurant. Nice atmosphere and good food. Do not miss the burnt orange :-We did feel a bit transported back in time, however. The experience was what my wife and I imagined would be the charm of having lunch on a quiet summer afternoon at your plantation. My wife being the only non-white in the entire restaurant felt a little odd given the diversity in the city overall.
Very friendly and attentive staff. We ordered the wagu beef burger and some ice lattes. The coffee was really good and the burger was good too but for that price we expected more of a wow factor. The venue is at a nice location and there is some water views but it’s kind of hidden by the trees. You would be better off doing the walking trail to see the epic water views. Nevertheless, this venue was on my list of places to visit, so I’m glad I gave it a go.
An amazing place with stunning views. Our breakfast order was still entertained despite the fact that we got there 10 minutes before the kitchen closure. We ordered Big vegetarian breakfast, Poached eggs with salmon and hollandaise sauce on Sourdough, and coffees. Everything was really good. The staff is lovely. Its definitely worth a visit.
Thank you so much Tabitha and Burnt Orange for hosting our wedding in April this year! We had 2 dates locked in and had to postpone due to Covid and Tabitha was so incredibly helpful and calming.Tabitha, it was an absolute pleasure to work with you over that time. You went above and beyond for us and made our wedding planning so fun and stress free. Our wedding couldn’t have gone more perfect. We ended up having to use our wet weather option, but it made our ceremony more intimate and special as we had just 40 guests. We had our reception in the signal’s room with one long table and the attention to detail was outstanding and so beautiful. From the lights and decor to the delicious food it was everything we imagined and more. The staff were so accomodating and were so lovely.Thank you again Tabitha and Burnt Orange. It was the most perfect day and still getting over it. We are very grateful.Burnt Orange will always be close to our heart and we enjoy going there to relive our special day and also to eat your delicious food for breakfast and lunch!!
Beautiful location with great views. Service is good and food is tasty and well presented. We have come here several times for a few years now. However lately the food quantities have become smaller and smaller. The last few times we have been there for breakfast we have left still hungry despite having a main meal and a side each. We are not big eaters, particularly my wife, so I cant imagine we would be the only one with this problem. Considering it is not cheap, putting a bit more food on the plates should not be an issue. Also it is a shame they do not accept substitutions to their plates. We had vegetarians and people with allergies on our party and we had to swap parts of meals around the table as they would not accept substitutions...from a restaurant of this quality I would expect better. Unfortunately we wont be back.
Went for high tea. Lovely staff, such a nice atmosphere and decoration. Food was delicious and a fair price.Great view.Takes reservation.
Good! Such a lovely spot. Service was a bit hit and miss, and the food was over priced - it’s was okay.
Sydney, Middle Head/MosmanGlorious views from the dining area. Had my usual bacon and eggs for breakfast. Eggs nicely fried. As usual everywhere, too much bread served with breakfast. Bacon was a little hard and dry. The two cherry tomatoes look a little lost
Amazing place surrounded by beautiful views of the harbour. Seating is on a open covered verandah with great service. We ordered the coffee and it was perfect! The food was overall amazing. The spanner crab eggs Benedict is a must try and was perfectly balanced. The Trout frocasia however was on the salty side and not very nice.
One of the most beautiful settings on the North shore. Views of the ocean and headland at a distance lead you to forget that you are in Sydney. The food is amazing and well presented. Worth your time.
Nice ambience and friendly staff. The presentation of the food was great, and the plates were warmed before serving which was a nice touch. We ordered and the food arrived within 15 minutes which was quite a surprise, my friends ordered the large breakfast and it looked tasty and had a good portion. My rating relates to my meal in particular. For breakfast they only have one option thats vegan friendly and its almost $25. It was a nice presentation and was tasty but they serve the avocado in a TINY bowl that has been blended, I have a suspicion they do this so they can serve you less avocado without it being obvious. The meal was underwhelming and it left me feeling like it really wasnt worth my while as everyone else had these large breakfast meals and I essentially had a large piece of toast with mushroom. With a slightly upscale restaurant, it surprises me that I am capable of making better vegan breakfast meals. Wont be back, its just not worth the money for anyone who is looking for vegan options. But otherwise its a nice place for anyone else I suppose.
Second time back at this place. Great coffee, great big brekky, excellent and attentive service in awesome natural surrounds. Highly recommended.
Gorgeous locations with sweeping views of middle headFood was tasty, balanced, however on the pricy side $91 for breakfast for twoservice was brilliantAsk for outdoor table
Lovely brunch spot overlooking the harbour to catch up with friends. You need to book on the weekend. Food and coffee is fine - its the overall package of food, coffee, location and environment that you go for.
Amazing venue considering the building dates back to the 1930s.It use to be the Mosman golf club clubhouse, which thankfully was saved and now is an incredible venue for breakfast, lunch and dinner.......the golf course is long gone by the way 😂
One of the nicest cafes in Sydney. Very peaceful and open outlook, cool on even the hottest days. Not a large menu and a bit pricey but worth a visit!
Lovely lunch, what a amazing setting (can only imagine how good it is on a sunny daythe food was delicious and the service was outstanding would 💯 recommend to anyone looking for a nice lunch
Very enjoyable lunch at Burnt Orange. Loved the rustic cottage, food was good - the salmon confit was the standout - and the deserts were amazing. Great service and will be back!
Lovely spot with a beautiful serene outlook whilst having a lovely meal especially breakfast ! They serve lunch and afternoon tea here but I love their breakfast best.Tea and scones yummy too👍😝Service is always attentive and courteous!NBBe mindful re parking in the parking area , if you have a Mosman Council Sticker on your car, it does not cover you for this parking area. You still have to pay for parking.
Ive only been here twice in July 2020 and both experience has been super great! Ive only tried their banana pancakes on both visits but my boyfriend tried the eggs benedict and poke - both were great too! Everything in my experience has been smooth from booking a table to billing out on both occassions. We would try their lunch soon!
The food here was quite good, the miso eggplant was great but needed a bit more miso flavour, the fries were very good with great seasoning and the burger was decent but there is no X-Factor its a plain burger. The mousse was also ok but in all for the price it was average. Ive had cheaper desserts at higher quality from places in Crows Nest. Overall the location was amazing and the atmosphere was very relaxing for a Wednesday Lunch and not too busy. I would go back for the impressive views.
Excellent venue. Lovely outlook and beautifully decorated. Prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. Sucks that you have to pay for parking.
Always fresh and clean. One of the best views and places to eat at Middle Head. Good serving size. Lovely staff who have a great love and knowledge of their food. You are not made to feel small when you ask what a word means on the menu.
A spontaneous birthday treat... ordered 2 things of the menue, arrived 8 min apart so when my husband finished, my treat arrived, I have ordered banana bread that arrived extremely dry, and had no banana flavour but perhaps I didnt check the menue properly? I asked for extra butter and it didnt help.. one waitres told us that scones come from bar other items from kitchen( our section waiter didnt inform usafter I have asked what happend to my food we were ignored until paying bill.. oh and you need to pay for parking, so I would say not the nicest birthday treat after all...food looked really nice but flavour and textures poor
The food was really good although it took awhile to be serve. Love their pancake with bacon. The view and atmosphere is perfect.
Beautifully cooked food! The superfood salad was absolutely amazing, never had i tasted kale salad soooo good before. We also had the fish pie which was good. And the bomb alaska for dessert. The view is amazing. Staff is friendly. Can do with aiconditioning though on a 37 deg day.
Went there for friends wedding. Wonderful food, very accommodating staff, and nice surrounds
Beautiful place! Very friendly staff, it is a nice place for family get together take a break~ enjoy the harbor view and fine food. Will come back again and try the high tea.
We had a birthday lunch here today. Mostly The food was good but the service was slow and our shared plate entree arrived with the main. We ordered dishes and then told later they’d run out. The duck wasn’t the best and needed a sauce. We had to find staff to get dessert and drinks. Their kitchen can’t cope with large numbers in the restaurant. A bit disappointing today. Breakfast time is a better experience.
Had breakfast/brunch here on the weekend. I had the eggs benedict with bacon. Have also been here previously. This venue is in a fantastic location. A well maintained cottage with spectacular views of the bushland and harbour. Perfect for a get together with family or friends. Well decked out and a cosy feel. Food was great and service friendly. It is a pricy restaurant, which is expected. Note parking is via paid meters. Also has a great gift shop.
Great atmosphere...being Tuesday it was very quiet and peaceful...distant views to the ocean over lovely bushland...beautifully prepared food..good customer service
Although hard to get to, the service is great with excellent views. You can take walk around the area to explore his historical place. Nice modern restaurant with good food that comes out fast. Toilets are quite ok as well.
Absolutely amazing and such a beautiful location. So happy to be introduced to this restaurant. The staff were lovely and very kind. A great fathers day. Will definitely be going back there again.
Great location and picturesque views, a bit out of the way unless you drive. Service was ok, scones were delicious, well priced and with generous jam and cream accompaniment. Will be back to sample the breakfast menu!
A lovely cafe in midst of nature reserve. There are some tables that look out to the Mosman basin. A good location to chill and relax. It gets busy during the weekends. Food tasted average (good but not spectacular), Mosman price tag. Meter paid-parking.
An absolutely beautiful location with water views. The menu is terrific with delicious and fresh food. This venue is a must visit for breakfast
Its a nice brunch spot with good food, friendly staff, beautiful view and great ambience. They also have a cute gift shop inside. This place is great for an afternoon tea too.
Food was average but very expensive. Service was pretty bad as well the food took ages to all come out. Great views though over the harbour.
Burnt Orange has earned its place as a breakfast center of Mosman. Well located on the harbour foreshore, the restaurant offers great views on the front balcony. The menu has a large range of dishes and a good variety. The food is pretty good value for money considering serving sizes, especially for an upscale place. When we went, notable dishes were the Eggs Benedict and the Buttermilk Pancakes, which were fluffy and surprisingly delicious with both the bacon or strawberries. The service here is always friendly and efficient, special shoutout to our lovely waitress Dom for the last time we went.A well earned 4/5, burnt orange is a great option for both a catch-up with a friend or a special occasion with family.
