This navy training frigate built in 1898 has been restored & turned into a nautical museum.
Lots of parts closed and not well maintained. Unfortunate since it was a good experience in the past.
Interesting to visit. Unfortunately some parts, like engine or captain room are not accessible.
Good place to be visited.
Nice place, it represents the union between Uruguay and Argentina naval defense and the historical cooperation of them, it has losts of materials and nostes with some text of explanation of its meaning.
Well worth a visit. Classic old ship. Stood the test of time
a very interesting place-museum to visit when you are in the Puerto Madero area. Entrance is cheap and you can enter the ship.
Its a good experience that is not expensive at all.
The history was very detailed and for my first time actually going on the boat it was very insightful. Going below is cool because they have a lot of historic objects that makes the history lesson a little more like traveling to the past. To see the people and background helps you realize more about the life aboard. The cost to get on was I believe 20 pesos Nov-Dec2019 but we know that might and could change. Just wanted to add the price so people might know. If I am wrong please correct me. Well worth a quick tour and great for families in my opinion.
Beautiful antique ship with a fascinating place in Argentinas history.
Very cool museum. A must in Puerto Madero. It was very thoughtful from the Argentinian government to install such a nice piece of history and make it available for all.The ticket are amazingly cheap. You can get in even very late at night and it will be always full.I really enjoy the experience.
Great looking sailing ship from olden days. Full rigged ship with auxiliary steam facility built in 1890’s as sailing ships were crossing over to steam. Needs a bit of TLC as do most things in BA. Adds to give a feel of what this dock area must have felt like 100 years ago.
Its nice to know the history of this beautiful ship.
Its a cool museum to visit
Nice place to visit when you are in Puerto Madero, especially with kids. The entrance fee is 20 ARS (August 2019).
This was an unexpected gem for us during our time in Buenos Aires. We just stumbled upon the ship when exploring Puerto Madero and are so happy we did. The history of the ship and its voyages throughout the world during the late 19th century is super interesting. You get to explore the captains quarters as well as a typical cabin for the soldiers. Its not a huge ship, so it was surprising to find out how many trips they were able to do around the world. I would definitely recommend!!! And its a very cheap fare to enter the museum.
Crazy about history!
Cheap functional museum. People were great too. We went during a day that there was an instruction and my son was paying attention as well.
Excellent touristic and historical attraction. A must see and for a minimal price.
Its very interesting historical place
Lovely small museum ship. If you are visiting Puerto Madero dont miss it. Entrance was very accessible.
Entrance costs a small fee of 20 pesos, super interesting place :)
Well worth a visit if you are in the neighbourhood. I would have liked to have seen more of the spaces open to visit or at least to be able see inside. Otherwise excellent. The list of voyages were impressive but could have had more detail.
Awesome ship! Made me feel like I was transported back in time with all the stuff they have inside! Weapons, clothing, accessories, tools, they even have a dog (taxidermy hating people dont go to this placethat used to be part of the ship and to pay respect to him they got it as a part of the museum ( it is the real dog), awesome information, everything is labeled and the people that works there is really kind! Totally recommended to pay a visit a Sunday afternoon, even when its raining, you could pay a visit to it!
If you like old ships, dont miss the opportunity. Its cheap and very interesting, although you can stay there longer, I think 30 minutes is enough to have a good look to it.
Nice to know... culture...
Very nice museum with lots of naval history and old maps and pictures of voyages. Pretty cool to see the inside of this ship. I’d recommend it. It was very low cost!
A very interesting ship-museum. Worth a visit.
its awosome going through past warfare technology!
The ship is well preserved and larger in its interior than youd expect from looking at it. I recommend browsing this 1920s naval vessel.
An absolute must see!! The descriptions are all in Spanish but even if you dont speak the language... the ship is beautiful! Its an interesting museum, the lovely sailors taking care of her are very friendly and try to be helpful even across language barriers.Oh, and the visit is only 10 pesos!
Different kind of museum, well localised, where you can explore more from Argentinas military history and look to Puerto Madero from a different angle.
Worth seeing. Small but full of information and an great activity to do before eating at one of the many great restaurants at Puerto Madero.
Great historic ship which is beautifully preserved.
Just an awesome panoramic view of 21st century modernism with a nod to the past.
Such a nice place to have a shipping experienceWould love if there was more explanations in other languages than Spanish
Enjoyed the walk here. Loads of all types of restaurants along here.
This was a fascinating visit. We just happened on it walking through the neighborhood.Very inexpensive fee and incredible to walk through the ship and to see the photos of excursions.Even if you have NO interest in this sort of thing ( like meit will open your hours,Great way to spend an hour.
Wonderful Museum, I hadnt the chance to go inside the ship before and I found so beautiful, well preserved and so affordable.
Cheap and interesting option for military history junkies
Good experience for those interested in Âgentine military naval history. An early 20th century frigate, the Sarmiento was converted into a floating museum after being decommissioned. For a nominal donation, visitors have opportunity to take a look at how Argentinian navy cadets lived and trained for life at sea, and the technology they had at their disposal at the time.Visitors must be ready to go up and down steep ladders when moving between decks, and while caution signs are very visible, they are all in Spanish.Great family fun.
This boat its a very nice place to visit in Puerto Madero. You can enter all compartments of the ship and its fun.
Really a lovely piece of history. Its well preserved as well as with proper signalling showing directions and information. The location is wonderful and contrasting with the modern, spacious and luxurious surroundings.
Beautiful frigate of the nineteenth century, operated as a school ship for cadets promoted to naval officers. Now, it is a museum that shows us a very preserved ship and a piece of Argentine history. Recommendable visit.
This is an excellent vessel to explore and the value is superb considering its AR$10 to board (May 2017). You get to go bellow deck and theres a museum with plenty to see! 10 out of 10
It gmhad amazing items like sword, letters and cards from the past. Very neat place
Nice to visit but some part of the ship is not accessible. Interesting history of an old boat. Cost 10$AR to get in. Have a drink in a bar just in front.
Well prepared decorations, open air museum which you can visit even in the evening while you are near by.
Good experience visiting the vessel. Just wish there was someone to answer questions as well.
I love anything maritime related so this 19th century museum ship was a perfect outing.
I love military museums and this one should not be left during my stay in Buenos Aires. Well conserved and a nice place to spend some time and to know the armys history from Argentina. The guns and the ammo are there and you can see how they used to navigate.
