Bunjurgen Estate Vineyard/Winery - Boonah - Vineyard in Warwick, Australia
Great vineyard experience made all the more unique by the owner David, hes very knowledgeable and produces some great wines. He took the time time to answer all our questions. From the goose feeding to the roo sightings, would definitely recommend this winery experience.
Fabulous hospitality. Lovely wines! No charge for tasting but I dare you to leave without buying. Loved the rosé, the Shiraz and the ruby fortified. Will be ordering again and will come back as well. Thanks for a lovely afternoon. Sue and Dave are great hosts!
Generous tastings, charming host, quality wine and port
This is a small boutique winery, Dave the owner was a larrikin, many a story to tell. He has two wines and two ports on offer, all four very tasty. $25 @ a bottle for the wines, & $25 a bottle for the 350 ml port or $50 for the 700 ml.Highly recommend a visit.
Such a wholesome vineyard with a kind and knowledgeable host Dave. Beautiful scenery and very casual atmosphere. If youre up for a chat, highly recommend stopping by for a tasting and history lesson on the local area. Tasty, quality wines. Good vibes all round!
Dave was so knowledgeable about the ancient and modern history, and the wine was incredible. He worked so hard on them! Gorgeous sunset, incredible value local business. No charge for the group tasting, only for the wine and port we bought after. Absolutely coming back again!
Stopped in at Bunjurgen while on our road trip around the region. The most relaxed wine tasting ever. David is very hospitable with lots of knowledge about the region and great stories to tell. Wine was very nice, the port even better. Highly recommended a visit to this estate
I love it here, so peaceful, and Dave knows heaps about the grapes he grows!! The wine is great too...
We went for a wine tasting today, and the experience was amazing! David was passionate, knowledgeable, and I could tell that he was really passionate about wines, and the area. We learnt so much beyond just the wines! And came home with 2 bottles of the most amazing reds Ive ever tasted :)
I live here!!
We went to 4 winerys yesterday. The wines and especially the ports we sampled here where BY FAR the best. The owner is exceptionally passionate about his craft.
Attended Bunjurgen estate vineyard yesterday for my birthday. We were a large group of about 28. The wines were FANTASTIC and the owner was an amazing host. Would highly recommend this vineyard and the port is to die for.
Beautiful estate, and David was lovely and shared so much knowledge! Tried their wines and came home with a shiraz and fortified. Will be back!
This hidden gem near Lake Moogerah is our favourite local winery. David (the owneris super friendly, knowledgeable about wines, history, local areas and even birds. Wines are fabulous. Lovely location to pop in with your own picnic basket. Will be back again.
Dropped in for a taste and to pick up a bottle, had a pleasant chat with the owner who is very knowledgeable about the area and passionate about his wines. The wines are tasty and a reasonable price. Will drop in again when we are back this way.
The most amazing experience ever.
Great little Vineyard with fantastic views. Worth the stop if your in the area.
Lovely wine and port, generous and knowledgeable people. I really enjoyed my time here, and walked away with a bottle of port :)
Got out of the city for some country air, found this little gem of a vineyard, could have stayed all day listening to the vigneron stories! Great views, wines and hosts!
Beautiful and very well run estate. Wine is very well priced and nice to drink. As a recommendation give the Shiraz and port a try they are both very good. Will be back again soon.
Bunjurgen Estate is clearly one of the most authentic wine experiences Ive ever had, and Ive had plenty of them around the world in my 30+ years of wine industry experience. David is an outstandingly pleasant and urbane host and the service culture of Bunjurgen Estate is a lesson to every QLD tourism business in customer service 101. His method of setting you up under the tree in a truly Alfresco manner to enjoy the glorious Scenic Rim weather, offering tastings of his fully Estate grown wines and regaling his expert knowledge of the vineyard and wines, plus a few good stories thrown in, is a joy to behold. This is a must visit Scenic Rim wine experience.
Very friendly host and a nice small selection of Red Wines for tasting.
What a little gem! Having toured Australia’s famous wine regions in Margaret River, Yarra and all over South Australia, we were unsure what to expect in Queensland. We were delighted to have stopped off and visit David at Bunjurgen Estate. From the moment we arrived, being met at the car park, until we were waved off at the end, it was obvious that this winery was his passion and he loved to share it with others. This was not just a wine tasting experience but also a history lesson in the region and we all walked away with a deeper appreciation for Queensland wine. You must try the Cherry Port and Verjuice!
David was a great host and my partner and I highly recommend to this estate. We particularly enjoyed the Shiraz which comes a cross more along the lines of a Pinot Noir. We loved the grape juice and verjuice also.
We didn’t stay for long but will be back! Dave obviously loves his wines and farm. We’re enjoying the rosé right now at home with cheese :)
Great experience and David is willing to talk about his wines and many other things. Such an interesting and rewarding visit.
What a wonderful experience. Thank you David for our wine tasting and local history lesson. Highly recommended.
Thank you so much David for your hospitality yesterday. You helped us raise money for Peter Mac Cancer Research and Conor Tweedy Foundation. The 50 ladies on the Escape To The Country Charity Day thoroughly enjoyed all the wine and the interesting talk you gave. Well done on your Eat Local Scenic Rim Accreditation.
This is a great experience even if you arent a wine lover. David is very knowledgeable in his field and a pleasure to talk with. The port is a favourite and will not disappoint. The whites are sweeter and also very enjoyable. Yes we will be back soon.
Superb setting fine wines and juices and an extremely knowledgeable and interesting wime master in David McMaugh
We just seem to attract really nice visitors. They all like the property and 4,500 come each year and lots return to pick grapes.
Very enjoyable time here. Good host, no skimping on wine tasting and at no cost. Wines are excellent and very affordably priced. Non alcoholic juices as well. Will definitely be back.
A fantastic experience tasting some beautiful juices and wines in the cool room on a 35degree day. Would highly recommend this vineyard to everyone. It is the vineyard to visit on the scenic rim.
A darling owner and an even more darling winery. Would recommend to all who like the finer things in life.
top spot for wine tasting 😉
Wonderful experience
Great little hidden gem! Thanks David and Gary for your hospitality and for making such a fuss over the kids.
Our visit was a surprise birthday present from Paul & Kay-Kay. We flew into Boonah airfield in a Piper Cherokee from Brisbane and were then driven to Bunjurgen Estate to a great welcome from Dave and met 6 other visitors under a tree for a tasting, fruit snacks and a welcome chat. Dave was a great host, revealing the geographical history of the area and his family history, the types of grape grown, and the wines they produce. We toured the sunny slopes to see the vines and the ladies in our party were presented with a bunch of flowers, a real nice touch. Back under the tree with chooks scratching around our feet, more tasting while Dave supervised the barbecue and we lined up for delicious steaks and salad. The wine flowed and the 6 others split into two groups to return to the airfield for a short spin over the area, the view over the scenic rim is amazing, (as they had arrived by roadwaving to us below. We made friends with the huge Malamute dogs, and of course made new friends with the other visitors. The Rose wine was superb (I wish I could have brought some home to UK), also the white port. Summing up--- A day to remember, great wine, great Dave, Even if you are in the area, dont drive by.
Called in on our way through the area and utterly impressed with the wines, which were topped off by the incredibly friendly host. A wealth of knowledge about the history of the area, the settling of the land and the lineage to the land owners where the vineyard sits. Great information about varietals and excellent wines that offer to the spectrum of styles. Definitely worth the detour to visit and will be going back next time in the area.
