Bundoora Homestead Art Centre - Art gallery in Bundoora, Australia
Excellent Exhibitions at Bundoora Homestead. I took photos with My Canon E.O.S 600D Camera. I was with Julie Sharman ( Art Therapistat Healthy Mind Hub.
I enjoy coming here. The grounds are lovely and the building is beautiful. Always has some interesting art work. Unfortunately only food now available is sweet or savoury scones, which thankfully are delicious. Coffee very nice too. Only thing is the acoustics are quite poor so if you have loud people in the dining room, everything echoes and can be annoying. Certainly worth going to though.
the place is beautiful, the art no so.
Lovely historic homestead and gardens, and nice cafe. Been several times. Art installations vary a great deal in quality. Last one disappointing.
A remarkable treasure of a building thankfully spared the wreckers hammer and beautifully restored. Well worth a visit for the architecture alone.Contemporary art presentations come and go.Excellent licensed tea rooms offering affordable food and drinks.
Absolutely divine and could be even more amazing.
Pumpkin soup and homemade scones delightful. Hidden gem 💎
One of our favourite places to visit on a weekend. Our small kids love all the conceptual art, running around the orchard and enjoying a delicious snack in the cafe. The quirky service here is part of the charm for us. Sometimes there can be a bit of a wait, but good things do take time and its firmly at the top of our favourites list.
So amazed by the beauty of the Mansion. Expo also very nice!
The gallery building is gorgeous and I really enjoyed the gardens and exhibitions. The food from the cafe was very reasonably priced for the quality and serving size. The service was very friendly and attentive. There was a wait on part of our order but it was handled excellently by the staff. I look forward to coming back for coffee and a little bite more regularly.
excellent customer service and the cafe offers tasty food
Beautiful old house and grounds, interesting art installations.
Beautiful savoury scones & lovely service from very helpful staff. It is an amazing & magnificent building but there are not enough (or big enoughwindows in the room to enjoy the beautiful outlook from the cafe. Ill only be heading back in the warmer weather, when i can sit outside.
Very interesting art and great food in the kitchen
Sadly this will be a scathing review. While the house is interesting nowhere inside were there plaques or similar in the rooms to explain what the rooms were. Instead there were things called art. Sneakers with a growth or weird abstract nonsense. So called artists or hippies were hanging around trying to be cool. As to the cafe, the service was terrible and a simple coffee took way too long. What gave them 2 stars instead of 1 was that the scone jam and cream was excellent. As to the rest dont waste your time unless your desperate for something to do.
A very interesting building housing interesting art. I loved the art quilts and the early colonial pottery on display. Fabulous ceilings and stained glass windows. Loved the early ventilation system in the form gets off the rooms and the internal staircase. Set in a park like garden with some very old sacred trees. The cafe had a great menu and great coffee. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. A lovely afternoon.
Very quaint, historic place with a lovely selection of artwork displayed on a rotational basis. A great use of the historical Bundoora Homestead as a heritage and culture cemtre. The cafe has a good selection of snacks and teas - I can highly recommend the Devonshire tea scones and jam and cream (very nice jam!). Rooms are well maintained and the art installations are varied, inspiring and innovative, I particularly liked the electromagnetic sound installation.
Beautiful little area to have a small meal.
Beautiful Grounds and Building. Interesting Art Works. Complimented by good coffee and nibbles. 🎭
We didnt try the cafe and the art work is very contemporary. Well be back soon.
Beautiful Building and Area. Can recommend the Coffee and Nibbles. The Art Works on Display were Varied and Modern.
Scones with jam and cream are the perfect little afternoon pickup. Well made and homely with lovely fresh jam ♥️
My favourite place in Northern suburbs. Amazingly beautiful classified historic building ...stained glass, beautiful polished wooden staircase with pyrogaphic panels, detailed plasterwork .Art Exhibitions giving todays artists an opportunity to display their works..professionally curated.Historic gardens and expansive lawns and river red gumsAnd best of all the facinating history of the "Homestead"..JV Smith Horsestud, convalescent farm and psychiatric hospital for veterans to 1993. And where Dr John Cade made the first ever discovery in the world of an effective medication for treatment of a psychiatric illness (bipolar disorder). And a lovely cafe for lunch, tea or coffee in a charming environment.Free entry.
Although small, it is a lovely collection of local art. Good coffee too.
Nice laid back atmosphere in historic building; worth a look to look at art
Nothing special. But well there is no ticket for entry. You can enjoy quiet time.
Impressing artwork cosy Cafe with kind friendly staff members
Really nice place for lunch or a small meal.
A beautiful restored and maintained heritage building with ornate features that evokes a sense of space and place.
Great lunch spot. Lovely staff. (Just need to get a chardonnay on the menu...Home made fruit cordials are awesome though. Each of the reasonably priced food items (its all reasonably pricedare tasty.
What a great mix of beautiful old buildings, varied styles of art, delicious food, great service and more!
Not just art - the Homestead is surrounded by beautiful gardens, making it a lovely setting for a picnic! Meals are nice too if you prefer a day away from the kitchen.
Worth the visit. Interesting article and good cafe
Beautiful old homestead with a café that provides value for money.
Plenty of art to see nice old homestead
Nice food, A cul-de-sac place to read your book, browse local art and enjoy your cafe.
The gem has a lot of potential. Already showing a range of interesting work. The building itself is great and it’s serviced by a surprisingly good cafe. Renovations have made the whole building very accessible as well. One to watch.
Such a beautiful place, free craft courses to do, everything supplied and has a great little café.
A gallery set within a transformed historical homestead. Entry is free and the space is now used for artist exhibitions. Although the exhibitions were good when I visited I wouldve appreciated more detail into the history of the homestead.
Lovely atmosphere as an art gallery with good reasonably priced food.
Beautifully restored inside and out, this mansion was built as a family home in 1900, then sold to the Commonwealth Government in 1920 and converted into a convalescent home for WW1 veterans suffering mental disorders. It remained a facility for the mentally ill until 1993 and had extensive additions and outbuildings which were demolished in 1996. After restoration, it was reopened as an art gallery in 2001, and hosts a rotating exhibition of arts purchased by Darebin City Council, as well as guest artists.
Great cafe and grounds to walk around.
A real hidden gem in Melbourne. Just had a beautiful, very reasonably priced lunch and the staff were absolutely amazing
Such delicious food, great service, so cosy and beautiful! Im so happy weve just discovered it and its right in our neighbourhood
Great art exhibition. The Cafe was very helpful for adjusting menu for food allergies and is priced reasonably.
Awesome contemporary art gallery, classy cafe and beautuful old historic building, perfect combination.Lovely tea spot to sit at the huge windows on a rainy day.The chef was experimenting with new ideas so we got a little taste.
Great art works. Well restored historical building and well manicured garden. Awesome food and service in the cafeteria.
