Another Thai Buddhist Temple in Penang. You can try your strength to lift up one heavy small Buddha statue made from bronze.

Visit a few times a year as my mum niche was there. The place is quite dark & not properly kept. It could be due to the niche was open more then 40 years ago.

This is one of the happening Thai Buddhist temples in Penang (during festive periods). Therere many spots for devotees to venerate including the main hall. Particularly interesting is the Luang Phuo York Buddha statue located inside the main hall towards the back. Go check it out with an open mind, not with doubtful closed mind.

Visiting the temple is a regular ritual for my family. Yes, the frontage of the temple with its ornate carvings n garish paint job is striking, deliberately eye catching and attracts tourists. Less obvious is the back of the temple. Here we see that the temple isnt that well-kept as one may think. There is a squarish courtyard with overgrown grass, paper n plastic items litter the ground n unsightly litter bins placed awkwardly here and there. "Indah khabar dari rupa" is an appropriate Malay expression. Temple maintenance simply not good enough. Temple committee, please note. Cleanliness is next to godliness.

The infamous lifting buddha, follow the steps listed beside the entrance of lifting buddha and go thru it, if you believe it then maybe your wish will come through. Praying is always a good practice

Its our the First Number One Temple and place in the WORLD. I recommend to all People in Pinang and tourists to visit this Temple. Its magic Temple with space energy and Best monks from there. I love all of them. Its like my Motherland. My respect and love for this Temple in Pinang Island Malaysia.

Nice & serene temple surrounded by lush greenery in the heart of town.Devotees can pay tribute to Lord Buddha & the Goddess of Mercy in the main temple building. Theres also a shrine for ancestral worship.Other than shady trees & beautiful plants, the monks here also grow their own vegetables for daily consumption.

The temple provide car parking for devotees to park theirs car while doing prayer there,on Wesak Eves and Wesak day for a minimal fee easy for devotees.

Relatively small, but worth a visit if you have an hour to spare. The temple is fully functioning and quite busy with worshippers during the early morning hours. The small Buddha that supposedly helps one make decisions is tucked away in one of the small rooms behind the main altar. Do you dare ask it for advice? 🤔

Jalan Perak, George Town, Penang Island, Malaysia. This relatively small but old Thai Buddhist temple complex was built in 1942 by a Thai Buddhist monk named Phothan Srikheaw, who was regarded as the first Chief Abbot of this temple. The founding father of the temple is honored by a gold leaf covered image, together with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Chief Abbot of this temple, located at the front portion, near to the main building of this temple.The temple grounds are decorated with various mythical religious creatures, such as the traditional Thai Nagas, and deities that popular Thai religion "borrowed" from other cultures, a mixture of Hinduism and Taoism. The statue of Ganesha, the elephant headed Hindu deity is placed at the main entrance. On the left, there is a beautiful shrine consecrated to the goddess Kuan Yin, a Mahayana Bodhisattva, and on the far side leading to the burial grounds, there is a small shrine to the Land God, a Taoist deity. I lived on the ls land of penang with my husband who was in the R.A.F. during the 1960s. Its a beautiful ls land. Colour everywhere the climate is perfect, hot all year round as there are no seasons there. Beautiful food to be had everywhere. BABIES& CHILDREN OF ALL AGES THRIVE THERE AS MY 2 VERY LITTLE ONES DID.I LONG TO GO VISIT PENANG AGAIN.

A Thai Buddhist temple in a huge compound. There are resident Theravadin monks living there. A hive of activity during Buddhist festivals and Loy Krathong, but is usually quiet. The arch at the entrance is beautifully painted and elaborate. The inner shrine is beautiful. There are many statues of Thai mythical beings as well. Theres a souvenir shop within the temple compound.
