Colorful, cheerful local chain with a large bar & lively scene specializes in dry-rub barbecue.
We have been there before, never disappointed. We ordered the combo for 2 to share. It was EXCELLENT!!
I really, really liked the wings, and as a former chef you can take me at my word that these are some of the best. Moderate smoke level, well seasoned and I assume they are finished in the fryer as they have a nice crispy skin. Sauces are all delicious and if you like a flavorful yet spicy sauce, go for the Ring My Bell.
We ordered a platter that came with a little of everything and it did NOT disappoint in anyway! It was all so well cooked and very flavorful. It said it was meant to feed 2 people, but two very large people were not able to eat even half! Best Bbq in Maine! Soooo good. Definitely get the burnt ends.
The most tender brisket( dry rubimaginable. The wings, I was told were prepared perfectly. Actually, we stumbled onto the place by accident and were very pleasantly surprised; typical pit atmosphere but immaculate . The portions are huge but hot and cold take home bags are provided. Service excellent. Great place to stop outside of town after a shopping spree! Try it.
This is a "rub" kind of restaurant rather than "saucy" BBQ, but not bad (considering its in ME). I enjoyed the cole slaw as well as the baby back ribs and the cornbread is decent as well (and slightly bigger portions than some places. Id say an average restaurant nationwide, but for Northern New England, not bad at all.
This is definitely my favorite place! Went twice with couple of friends and we had a blast! I was greeted by an handsome gentleman Sully and then got served by Erica. These guys definitely know how to do their job! Will definitely be back!
Great service. Some of the best ribs Ive ever had! Sides were good but the mac /cheese was excellent. If you love bbq this place is a must!
Three of us enjoyed pulled pork sandwiches and spicy chili. Fantastic baked beans. Their Texas-style sauce is rich.
The wicked chicken was a big hint. Wow, big chicken sandwich. I definitely will get wixked chicken sandwich again when I return back to bucks naked. Charles our bartender was very helpful when deciding for our choices. Two thumbs up, great experience and great job.
Looking for good brisket BBQ and I found it. Being from Texas and looking for good BBQ in Maine can be disappointing. This place had it all covered. The brisket was great, the sausage was great and the pulled pork was great. We didnt try the chicken, but had a good brownie sundae dessert and lived it.The waitress was fantastic, the name on the ticket says Erica, and she has been there long enough to be knowledgeable about the food and menu.Definitely will return.
Great steaks, great bbq, awesome staff and fair drinks definitely will be returning. It is hard to find a good bbq spot with portions this good!
100% amazing and our waitress Erica was a staple to the restaurant. Will be going back very soon to share our experience with loved ones that love authentic BBQ!
This place is on point EVERY TIME. I love the atmosphere, the staff and especially the food 🤤 last night I was blessed by being served by Erica. She’s funny, knowledgeable and attentive and made our trip in extra fun. Thank you for the best experience after having the longest week ever.
Fantastic BBQ restaurant. Large portions. Highly recommend
Zero complaints. Food tasted freshly prepared and full of flavor. The hidden gem on the menu is easily the hand made chicken nuggets and Blueberry Haze BBQ sauce. Will definitely be back. I ordered the Bacon and Cheddar BBQ Grilled Chicken sandwich. Definitely worth the price of $17. French Fries are season with coarse sea salt which makes them a 10/10.
Oh my goodness! This was the best food I have had in a long time. Brisket was perfect, so tender it melted in the mouth. Chicken was perfect. Sausage was perfect with just the right amount of spice. Onion strings were perfect. Price is right too. This is a must.
Bucks is always a favorite stop in #Freeport to dine in or order out. Great service, Great food! The pulled pork is ⭐️10⭐️ excellent!
Ok now lets talk about this amazing BBQ stop for great amazing food. The shooting area has a very cool play area for kids, fun shaped houses to play in, its like a mini village for kids to play while waiting for food and after eating when the adults are conversing. Then down stairs they have live entertainment where you can go on certain evenings that have different nights for karaoke live music, along with other entertainment! Its a must go if your in the Freeport area!
The food is not good. It tastes like poor quality fast food BBQ. Ribs were meh. Drink selection acceptable. The atmosphere is awful. Listened to screaming kids the entire time. Might be good for a family but anyone who wants a quality dinner should seek another venue.
Enjoyed the BBQ plater for 2. So much.food could have easily been for 3! And my son was super thrilled he was able to enjoy a place that offered a dessert he could enjoy!! Yay for sherbert!! The food came out so fast and we are excited to return!
This meal was edible, and average. I got "The Bucket" which was a sampling of all the meat cuts this establishment has to offer. If youre looking for traditional Southern BBQ this is NOT your place. The food wasnt bad, but it wasnt what I was hoping/expecting. The Brisket tasted more like a roast than one of the most savory cuts of beef. The Pulled Pork was average. The Sausage had a hint of spiciness, but lacked an iconic sausage flavor. The Chicken also lacked flavor and was dry. Dont waste your time on getting sweet tea. They dont have any premade and what they brought us didnt even taste like Black Tea. Im not sure what it actually was, but it was disgusting. We returned the tea and they still wanted us to pay for it. I wouldnt recommend this to someone looking for Authentic Southern BBQ, but if youre craving meat, this might be your place.
The Food and the Service were fantastic! We got the bucket and everything was wonderful! If you leave here hungry, its all your own fault!! 😋😁
Excellent brisket and ribs! The catfish appetizer was also very good!
Tasty BBQ, choice of sauces, large portions, service was fun and quick.
Bucks never disappoints. Fast service and great food. Get the "Q for 2" and sample the range of meats and sides. Penny and I disagree on sauces... she likes the one in the blue container that has a hint of blueberry, I like the one in red that has a bit of kick behind it!
The restaurant is conveniently located near Maine Beer Brewery, Mast Landing Brewery and several Freeport hotels. Thus we decided to check out their Happy Hour deals. When we arrived we were greeted warmly and seated immediately at a table facing the kitchen which we really liked. However, we were told Happy Hour was only served at the bar area. The server then graciously led us there. At the bar area there were 2 small bar tables and the traditional L bar. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. We took his advice in ordering the smoked wings. It was really good and came with housemade sauces(Thai chili, ranch, and blue cheese). We also got the HH Mac & cheese and Assorted meats with BBQ platter for 2.Overall were glad we checked out this BBQ joint. It seemed like a local favorite. The staff was efficient. We thought the HH Cosmopolitan was mehh as well as their Mac & Cheese. Roasted chicken was a bit bland and dry. We liked the 4 default table sauces as they can be used to moisten the meats. Ask for the hot sauce if you can handle a lot of heat. We really loved it. Pricing was reasonable and the portions were pretty good for some items. We will definitely visit again if we are in the area and crave for BBQ.
Its too expensive just for BBQ.Even though the food was good. They serve a lot so consider one plate for two.Attentive waitress.
We stopped to get a to go order. Their staff are very friendly. The host staff is extremely welcoming and helpful! The food was tasty and came fast! We ordered the burger, it was very well cooked. The fried chicken sandwich was tender and juicy. Can’t expect more. The overall experience was so great that we are definitely coming back!
We loved it there. Food was great. We ate at the Bar and the Bartenders Charles and the other one were so friendly and helpful!. Will go back again on our next trip to Freeport!0
We stopped here for dinner after spending a few hours Christmas shopping in Freeport. The ribs were fall off the bone tender, I recommend then Juju sauce and the Maine blueberry. The corn bread was one the best I have eaten. The servings were large and the price was reasonable. Will definitely be coming here again.
This place is amazing for bbq. The pulled pork and brisket are my fav, so far, followed closely by the ribs and sausage. The sides are also delish, make sure to get some Mac n cheese!!
Host staff friendly welcoming with a smile and hello. Server friendly and helpful! Order came quickly! Food and drinks were delicious! Would like to come back here when in the area again.
Great environment! Very friendly staff, meal was out quicker than I could run to the bathroom after ordering. I got the sampler: had pulled pork, brisket, chicken and sausage. All of it was delish. Sauces are wonderful as well, including the blueberry one!
We stopped for dinner and were not at all disappointed. The folks here are very friendly and efficient. Our meals were flavorful, hot, and delicious. Hubby was very pleased with the Fall of the bone ribs, spicy sausage, and crisp fries. I had the grilled chicken tostada salad...amazing. And the fried pickles...yum!
This is based on one of our last experiences eating here a few years ago. We haven’t been back due to COVID and we live in New Hampshire.PROS1located less than two minutes from the hotel we were staying at so you cant beat the location2while busy, the restaurant wasnt overly noisy and the booths gave a sense of privacy3the lemonade was very good. It wasnt tart (we thought it was house made but were told it was Minute Maid)4we got seated immediately5free wifi6food came quickly7service was really good8a variety of BBQ sauces are available at the table as well as paper towels9the food was very goodCONS1the only sweet BBQ sauce provided is a blueberry one and it wasnt that sweet so I wish a sweet BBQ sauce was provided2the ribs I got were both tender and dryI got the baby back ribs to try with a baked potato and baked beans along with a lemonade. The lemonade was on the sweeter side but wasnt tart so it was quite nice and refreshing. The ribs were tasty but dont include a sauce. I found them to be both on the tender side but also a little drier in spots.I like the idea of multiple BBQ sauces being available at the table to try out.The cornbread was very good with butter added and the baked beans were awesome. My husband got the big bucket combo with brisket, pulled pork, pit chicken, and smoked sausage. He thought everything was good but he loved the pulled pork and the brisket. The corn niblets were watery.———————During our next visit, I tried the fried catfish with sweet potato fries and baked beans. Again, the lemonade was delicious as were the beans. This meal was preferred over my first (the ribs). The catfish was tender and cooked perfectly. Despite being fried, the fish didnt taste oily or greasy. I would have preferred without the sweet potato fries but overall, I would order this meal again.
The food here is so good! We enjoyed lunch here after a morning of shopping in Freeport. A very friendly young man greeted us and sat us. We ordered a bunch of different dishes including the brisket sandwich, pulled pork, rack of ribs and wings. The meat is so tender that it just falls of the bones. Its perfectly seasoned but there is a choice of four BBQ sauces on the table if you want more. They even had blueberry BBQ! Our server was fantastic and had great suggestions. He even got containers for my son to take home the hot sauce he loved. I highly recommend eating here.
Great flavorful BBQ! Being from Alabama, this is not the flavor profile of Southern BBQ; however. The pulled pork was moist and well flavored. The sausages were great. The fried pickles were amazing and one order of pickles could feed 6 for an appetizers. I didnt feel the macaroni was worth the $3 extra for a jacked up side, but dont let that take away from the great technique of BBQ being done here. The blueberry sauce is great! Lets not leave out how nice and helpful everyone was!
Delicious American BBQ. ENORMOUS portions. My girlfriend and I ate less than half of the Q for Two shared platter. Took the rest to go.
I will second Glenn G and say this place has outstanding barbecue (coming from a Southerner). We ordered the Q for 2 and it was a ton of food! Everything was delicious and came out super fast! Try the blueberry bbq sauce, it’s great!
We came here on the recommendation of a manager from the LL Bean Outlet. He was so spot on!! First off, the prices are good. Second off, the portions are huge. And finally, the food comes out fast. We shared the Q2, BBQ sampler for 2 basically. It was so good. The dry rub on the ribs is the best I ever had. They fell apart as u were eating them. The brisket was juicy and tender, with just the right amount of smoke and burnt edges. The pork BBQ was a slightly different flavor but no less pleasing. The chicken was the least favorite only bc it was too smokey. It also fell off the bone as u were eating it. (We did not get sausageWe had beans, fries, onion strings, and cornbread. It was all just so good. We carried out enough meat leftover to make 2 more meals for us. I want to thank Jarron, our waiter, for accommodating all our requests and doing it with a smile. The kitchen deserves kudos for functioning like a well-oiled machine. (We were sat where we could see them. All our food was hot, tasted fresh, and was correct! We will be stopping here on our next visit to Maine and recommending it to everyone who asks!
Really Gooooood BBQ!! Rather than comparing it with BBQ from another state, Ill just say that it was fantastic!! Great flavors, meats were very tender (fall off the boneand juicy. The baked beans were excellent!! And the corn bread was heavenly!!We were greeted with excellent hospitality. Our service was prompt and courteous. All the food we ordered was very well presented. And Yes, it was worth the money I paid for and more.If youre looking for that Pit style BBQ in Maine Bucks is where its at.
The food is great, lots of choice and just way too much of it! The servers are good and attentive and theres no waiting even while theyre doing a whole lot of takeout. It seems like the covid protocols are in good shape and we have been vaccinated fully, but it still felt like a safe environment .
The service was good and staff was friendly. The restaurant was clean and we had no wait to be seated. The sandwiches were very good, the sides were decent. The prices are good, I will definitely be eating here again.
Might be the most enjoyable place weve ever eaten!! Even before Covid!! We sat right next to the open windowed kitchen where we could see and hear the talented chefs preparing ALL of the delicious meals; dine in and take out!. Every member of staff that we saw all worked together like a very well oiled machine. Each member being a component in making the machine run smoothly! They were all very polite and super friendly ☺️. Our waitress "Delaney" was a pure delight. I would actually give Bucks Naked Bbq more stars if possible. I could not fault them for anything!! The food was absolutely delicious and the service; impeccable. The atmosphere and decor rank right up there too! We loved it!! Thank you Bucks Naked for a most enjoyable experience
1st experience here was absolutely amazing, we came for the "Q for the fam" they were sadly out of ribs however they were amazing and gave us plenty of extra of the other things that came with it. I did not find a single the wrong with anything we got everything we ate was absolutely delicious Ive gone to a few other BBQ joints in the past couple months where things were a little lack luster well Bucks Naked BBQ blows the competition out of the water!
Fantastic fall apart meats from top to bottom! Delicious appetizer of fried pickles. Q for 2 is a must have great variety of everything on the menu! Would definitely recommend on my travels!
Wing Ratings:Thai chiliHeat: 2 / Flavor: 8 / Texture: 9.5Slap yo mama w/ a side of ring your bellHeat: 8 / Flavor: 9 / Texture: 9.5The ring your bell is the best tasting buffalo sauce I’ve ever had. These wings are insanely delicious. Smoked and then fried to textural perfection. You can tell this place cares about the product they are putting out. Color me impressed. Also split a BBQ for 2. Fantastic stuff. House made sauces are all unique and compliment the expertly smoked meats extremely well. Service was friendly without being too intrusive. Amazing experience.Follow us on Instagram at heatflavortexture or contribute your own ratings on Facebook at Rate Wings: Heat Flavor Texture
My experience here was great. Server was super friendly and food came out fast and tasty. We order the Q FOR TWO(Pulled pork, beef brisket, smoked sausage, pit chicken & a 1⁄2 Rack of Baby Back Ribs. Served with 4 sides or 2 Jacked up sidesfor $35. Great option to try a little bit of everything. 3 people eat (one not so hungryand we still took home some leftovers. Also got the sweet ice tea and it wasn’t too sweet so it was perfect for me.
We were in the mood for serious BBQ and found this place on the way back from a road trip to Acadia National Park. A little nondescript from the outside but the food was awesome. We got sharing places of wings, ribs and pulled pork. I would particularly recommend the beans and slaw. We didn’t quite have the courage to try the hottest wing sauce called “Slap Your Momma” - must be our British reserve! While the tables were a little sticky the staff were friendly and efficient and this was the perfect stop on our 4 hour drive home.
What restaurant has books and toy areas with mini log cabins inside.... apparently this one. Not only is the food delicious but its so kid friendly and with huge table with so much space that you wont feel cramped. I love it. If only i lived close by, i would regularly visit this establishment. You cant go wrong coming here in my opinion.
