Chain serving family-style Italian fare in a kitschy setting featuring red-&-white tablecloths.
Service was terrible wasnt impressed with the food. There is allot better Italian than this hole in a wall diner.
Not a fan of Buca in my personal opinionPros:- nice staff- yummy bruschetta and canolis- decor is interestingCons:- oil here is very strong, it changes the flavor of everything its in from the cheese bread to the fettuccine and I do not like the flavor it changes too- therefore not a fan of the cheese bread, fettuccine Alfredo, balsamic olive oil free bread.- decor can be quite strange and take away from focusing on the people you are with.
Havent been to Buca since before the pandemic and it was good to be back. Love the atmosphere of the restaurant and appreciated being seated quickly despite not having a reservation on a Saturday night. The restaurant was pretty full and I would recommend making a reservation.Had the small Quattro la Forno and the Penne Basilica for a party of 4 and there was enough food for all with left overs for later. The food is served family style with each small dish feeding 3 people. The Penne was good with large pieces of sliced chicken breast and a good amount of broccoli over penne pasta. However it didnt compare to the Quattro dish made up of stuffed shells, ravioli, cheese manicotti and chicken cannelloni. It made the penne dish seem a little plain when sampled side by side. It was really delicious and had plenty for all to sample. Prices were reasonable at around $30 per dish. The tiramisu was good,, but dessert is not my thing.Definitely recommend Buca.
Our server Catherine was incredible, the food was tasty. That’s about where the positives ended. We came in following my mothers visitation service yesterday, she passed away 5 days ago. The company took the reservation happily. When we arrived for our 8pm reservation the manager made a comment as to how we need to “hurry and go because we close in less than an hour” and that “I hope you only have 20 people” the place closes at 9:30. We easily brought in nearly $1000 in sales.I was so bothered by the managers comment. The place was also filthy. Next time you visit check out their air vents. Above the tables are coated in old dust and grime. 🤢The manager wearing all yellow yesterday needs to revisit etiquette. Everything else was amazing but for us spending the money we did I was so disappointed in her behavior and comments. Catherine was amazing. I won’t be returning or recommending.
The pizza was pretty good, but I was expecting a lot more pizza for 25 dollars. I will not buy pizza there again because that was a total rip off.
This place in incredible, I will find any excuse to order from here while I am at work nearby. The food is to die for and the delivery service is so convenient. Kaytlyn is such a great employee. I commend her.
Tonight my family had dinner at Buca and it was an excellent experience. The portions are very large (made to shareand the food was excellent. They were also very accommodating. One of our party was hard of hearing and so they put us in a quiet section so we could all hear each other. I was very impressed with our waitress, Linda, as well. Highly recommend giving them a try.
Highly overpriced. $22 for a small margherita pizza with too much flour, $16 for an average slice of cheesecake (I thought I was ordering a whole cheesecake based on the price). I lived in NYC before moving to the twin cities and have never paid such a premium price for such an underwhelming experience.
Amazing as always! Food is served family style! Amazing food and the place everybody in our chooses for Italian food.
Good place for a classic Italian family meal. The prices may look steep but the portion sizes are ment to be shared.
Great spaghetti and Giant meatballs!
Sadly this is not the place I remember from the early 2000. Was very disappointed in the food, service, and cleanliness of the restaurant. The experience did not merit the high prices. I realize they have gone up across the board but this is now just an average chain restaurant with high prices.
They sure know how to make things right here, and they make some amazing food as well! Quick shout out to the kitchen Staff Mark & Amanda! Thank you all for your great service!
Overall good food, however it does come with a HUGE price tag.If you want Buca, order take out. We do takeout and it’s often a good quick experience. We don’t dine-in at this location because even though the staff is nice, they’re generally really slow. We did takeout last week, and overheard people complaining about having been waiting for their drinks for over an hour (so perhaps this is still an issue lol).tldr: the food is good, but because of recent price increases, it may not be worth going to on a regular basis.
Very good food. We had the apple Gorgonzola salad, Was awesome! We also had the CheeseManicotti, Ravioli with meat sauce & garlic bread. Also very good. Our server was amazing. He was very kind & on top of everything. Definitely knew how to do a job well done.
Lots and lots of food it was great!! Great tasting great service very polite and kind. 😊 We definitely will come back for sure!!💕
We had about 25 people and this location was amazing at accommodations for us in our own room. The drinks were great and the food was incredible. Many in our party hadnt eaten at a Bucca before and they will definitely be back! Our server and his support was so helpful and fun. Great experience along with wonderful food!
Typical St. Paul restaurant. Old, beat up, kind of dirty looking interior. Food well served but salty and greasy. Huge price tag. Nice waiter. My kids liked it. I wasnt impressed.
Food was amazing. It was almost empty at 3pm on a Wednesday afternoon. I had to call the restaurant from my cell phone within the restaurant just so I could announce that we arrived at the hostess stand. Nobody up front or at the bar. 1 customer sitting alone bar side. People cooking in the back so I assume they were making take-out orders. Manager I think she was sat us but came to seat us while she was on speakerphone with another customer trying to multitask us. It was absurd we couldn’t get seated from someone not on a phone considering there was only 1 physical customer in the building. Slow start but once we got a waitress she was much more professional and attentive. First time at this location. I’m surprised it’s still even open and operating after pandemic.
Food was good but service was sub par, not to friendly and took care of the customers that came in behind us frist, from receiving drinks, food and the whole thing except the bill, eventually got the check actually before the people that came in later but served first ect. Even though it was not so busy it sure took a bit to long to get the check. most likely wont be back due to poor customer service if you didnt figure it out
The staff is very kind and friendly, even if youre taking a bit to decide haha. The food is absolutely delicious - I loved their mozzarella garlic bread and ravioli last time I went there. Would highly recommend.
Visited on a very hot Sunday at my nieces request...She had just gotten married the day before and we were visiting the area for my medical procedure and the newlyweds flight for their honeymoon. Im not much of a pasta lover but I was open to whatever...very glad I gave this place a try!We arrived about 6:30-6:45 pm, I think. We were seated immediately in a cozy booth. It took a few minutes but a waitress approached with some much needed water and asked if we had visited before. My sister and I hadnt so we got a little spiel about the restaurant and how they serve. She left to get us some bread and drink orders while we discussed the menu. The restaurant serves everything family style. Portions are either Small: Feeding 2-3 or Large: Feeding 4-5. A large of anything seems to cost about $12 more than the small. We ended up ordering a small lasagna and a small fettuccine Alfredo to split. This easily fed the 4 of us with the bread. The bread is served with olive oil and you can have balsamic added if you like. The noodles tasted fresh instead of like a boxed variety thats been sitting awhile and boiled. The Lasagna was to die for! Ill definitely return for it! It did fall apart a bit when trying to eat it but it was so good, I didnt care. The Alfredo was a little thick for my taste. Maybe it was the heat but I had troubles swallowing it due to the thickness. It was still delicious. I didnt see an option on the menu to add chicken to it and we didnt ask but if you like it with meat like I do, please ask! Ill definitely order it again and hopefully it does have a chicken option! It does take awhile to get your food but it is definitely worth the wait!!! We had leftovers and they came back to the hotel with us!The only downfall: I dont think theres AC in the building. It was 100° outside that day and it was easily just as hot inside. I felt just awful inside and was glad to eat and go back to the hotel for coolness.Staff is attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend here for a good Italian meal! Ill be back....if I can ever find the place again! LOL!
My family and I went there to celebrate my dads birthday. We were seated right away since we had a reservation and there was plenty of room for my big family. I enjoyed my Milan Mule beverage while my dad and brothers had sodas. The mixed greens salad was really good and the small served us 5 a reasonable portion of salad without having leftovers. My mom and I shared the spaghetti marinara, which was one of the few items with no dairy (I have a dairy allergy). To me, a good Italian restaurant can be classified as such when they can make a simple plate of pasta with tomato sauce taste amazing. I was thrilled with my dinner. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauce was full of flavor. Overall, I am happy with the food I ate and a little sad with the limited dairy-free options.
We hosted a 30-person rehearsal dinner at this location. The food and service were great. We got many compliments on the food and atmosphere. Thank you, Megan McNally!
Waited at the door for a bit, but it seemed like they were short staffed so not a real big deal. Our server was very nice and polite. It was fun to hear the birthday songs and just have fun on a Sunday night out. The portions were huge as always! We are always taking home what feels like 5 pounds of food, but we love it!
Wow, an amazing family style restaurant! Very good wait staff, really good Italian food (try the meatballs and cannoli), and the decore is both equal parts pope-tacular and questionable. If you have the opportunity, go! I know I will.
Had a great experience here. Some family members had not gone to this style of restaurant. The plates had enough for everyone. The food was filing and delicious.
They were a little busy for the dinner rush. Our server was amazing. We had a big group and split checks 8 ways 😬 - I felt so bad about the headache that must have given her but she was a very good sport about everything.
What the hell happened?!?!? This place sucks now. Lemon and capers chicken? Not even cook right anymore. What the hell is with the Bruschetta? Long, rock hard bread Giant chunks of Mozzarella, served in the tackiest Giant Martini glass they could buy in bulk on sale at Hobby Lobby.1 star given cause the person who made the drinks made them perfect.
We hosted a retirement party for a group of 30 on a Friday. Everything was perfect, food and drink options were all great. Our server, Adam, was amazing, friendly and very attentive to our entire group. He pretty much single handedly took care of our whole party and there was a lot of moving parts. 10/10 will be back for a future event!
It is not as good as it used to be, but still the best option if you are looking for a great funny place and delicious Italian food with that home made feeling.P.D : Tiki Roman drink ❤️
We went to the St Paul location and the servers are clearly overworked. The food was very slow to come out, luke warm, and incredibly salty. The bathrooms were also disgusting and smelled strongly of urine.
We had a large group and got seated at the table with the Pope. Food was really good and very plentiful! Our server was attentive without being annoying. Cost was a little high, but we had drinks. Food cost was reasonable and fed all of us with leftovers. We got seated right away.
Had a sweet lunch of spaghetti and meat a balls. Love the “gravy! “
We visited Labor Day weekend 2021. We ordered the spaghetti with meat balls with marinara sauce and the mozzarella garlic bread. The dish in its entirety had no flavor. It tasted like they opened a can of crushed tomatoes and added water and olive oil and decided to call it marinara sauce. Definitely not worth the money....
We came for lunch by chance. It is an extravagant place, it has many paintings, many knick-knacks, many objects. We got pizza and a caprese. The mozzarella was not bad and the tomato good. The pizza dough was thin and untraditional. Overall we were satisfied. The staff is very nice, good prices.
Thursdays Special leaves you with a lot of leftovers. Parmesan Chicken, Spegetti, Caesar Salad, and delicious warm Italian Bread. Fabulous Service to top!
Servers were SUPER Rude, Remi our waitress was awesome and the food was great!!
We had a fantastic time at Buca di Beppo earlier this evening after coming in for a date night, barely escaping the rain and hail. 😅We had called ahead to make a reservation, and were glad we did, as this is now required as part of the excellent safety measures put in place. From the moment we arrived until we left, the staff were just superb, from the host who greeted us, to the server who was so kind and cheery, all the way to the other server who so kindly took our photograph. We eventually ordered garlic bread for a starter, the Chicken Cannelloni for my lovely date, and the Shrimp fra Diavolo for myself. The food was delicious, from the first to the last bite, although our eyes/hearts proved larger than our stomachs, and we ended up taking a significant amount home to be enjoyed later as leftovers. We would definitely come here again for a special (or just fun/romanticoccasion, and would highly recommend it. Buca is a classic here in the cities, and for a good reason.
We went to Buca last night to celebrate my birthday. The service was great! Maya was super friendly and efficient! The manager Tammy was happy and very professional. Our dinner, as every other time, was delicious!I am so appreciative of how hard the employees in this and all restaurants have to work to keep us safe. They did a phenomenal job and still made a great night out for my family!
This is a place like no other!! The ambience is absolutely unique and crazy wonderful! We had the Bianca pizza and it had a great taste. The drinks were lovely too. Would go here a hundred more times.
This place never disappoints. Great food and service. Felt like family run and love the interior cozy vibes with old pictures and posters. It could be loud to some people but we love it. I think they are the best Italian food in the area and we always go as a big group so the big plates were so awesome to share.
SOOO MUCH FOOD, family style came here for a “light” dinner turned to massive portions of food, not even mad about that. Pasta taste firm, nice texture and sauce was delicious, shrimp was cooked perfectly! The mozzarella garlic bread was sooo good!! Didn’t get our appetizer so was sad, but did get a celebration dessert for my friend! Will come again with at least 4 other people next time!
Tried this restaurant while in town. If you are looking for a great little place, this is it. The food was delicious and the staff was great. Next time I am in town, I will definitely stay here again! For more of my reviews of restaurants and attractions, follow my reviews on Google
Awesome, inventive drink menu and a wonderful staff. The dining room is bustling and fun - plenty of room for families while the full bar keeps spirits high 😊
The food was great and the service was even better! We went for Father’s Day and it was special. The bread went great with the balsamic vinegar and olive oil. We also enjoyed the caesar salad along with the spaghetti and chicken limone. If you haven’t been here before, you need to experience it sometime soon. The atmosphere makes you feel right at home.
Went there for one of my daughters birthday and we had a great time. The restaurant is very inviting and friendly and the food was great. I would have not have gotten the big dishes for a family of 5 because I came home with a lot of food but it will be wonderful to eat tomorrow. Will definitely be going back
Service was top notch. Food is good and a great value for the amount served and the price. We had an issue with the freshness of the calamari but the quickly replaced with a different appetizer and apologized several times. Great place for a larger, hungry group.
The dessert was delicious, everything else was super average and over priced. The building is really fun and cool to look at but again the service was a disappointment. She did not refill drinks and when she came to check on the food we asked for a condiment that never came. We only saw her 3 times, drinks and order, quick food check (which didnt listen on feedback and requestsand to give the check. We had to flag down a separate server for water refills and dessert order.
Its a great family restaurant with an older warm atmosphere. Its best to try and make a reservation if you have a larger group, and may need to wait a even with a reservation. The wait staff is friendly and helpful. The portions are huge family style dishes for everyone to share. The food can take awhile to come out and if youre very picky or technical about cooking you will find flaws in the cooking. Ive been twice and had a great time! Expect to spend around 2 hours or more total.
