Chain serving family-style Italian fare in a kitschy setting featuring red-&-white tablecloths.
The atmosphere was okay but the wait time was longer than expected. We waited almost an hour to get a table. It says small on the menu but the portion is actually not small at all. 2 people can easily have a small portion. The food really disappointed me. Lasagna had extra salt in it and Alfredo pasta wasnt that good. However, the service is good and the staff is friendly.
After a long day at Universal Studios and a HORRIBLE experience at ANTOJITOS MEXICANOS this place made our night way better!!!! From when we stepped in to the restaurant the hostess where soooo nice and friendly. We got seated in 10 minutes on a Saturday night and a party of 8!!! Ron was our waiter and omg was he AWESOME!! He explained everything to us as it was our first time in this chain of restaurants! Food and drinks were great!!! Would go back anytime we are in the area!!! Thank you for turning our night around!!!
Great family restaurant. Who doesn’t love fine green salads if the lettuce is perfect, with salami, hams and flavorful cheeses. Lots to pick from when it comes to sides and pastas. Rich deserts too. Good lighting, and a happy vibe. They validate parking too.
We brought our family from out of town and they loved it! Our server was Blake and he was wonderful. We ordered the antipasto salad and the Caesar salad as well as the big ziti, spaghetti and meatballs, and the penne san remmo with a sangria to pair. Everything was delicious, thank you
Great place with good eats and no long wait! Super friendly staff and great service!
This was our first time here and it did not disappoint! We were seated promptly. The wall art is so entertaining! Our server Albert J was super nice and very attentive. We will definitely be back! Thank you for a great first time experience!
Food was PLENTIFUL and tasty. Service was excellent. I would recommend the spicy chicken rigatoni and spaghetti with meat sauce. I am sure other dishes are good as well.
Ate here for the first time with co-workers to celebrate a birthday. We ended up in the pope room. Yes, it is a statue of the popes head in the center of the lazy susan. Its highly entertaining with a group. Food is just average, with most of the pasta dishes being overcooked. But that seems standard with chain restaurants. Service was slow as there was on 2 servers on shift for weekday lunch hours.
We come here whenever we visit California as we love to visit the area. We came to Universal city walk on a Monday night with a party of 8 and no reservation. Staff was polite and accommodated our semi large party. Our server was Joseph and service was phenomenal and timely. Joseph was attentive and made sure we were taken care of!We will be back!
This is the 4th time in 18 years that Ive been to this Buca. Im not a huge fan of italian or franchise restaurants, but my wife is. However, I love this place. We dont come here for the food; its for the ambiance and how our server (a svelt hispanic gentleman, 2022facilitate that. When we go out, we dont spend money on food, we aim to buy an experience. Our party of 8 is happier this evening after coming here, and that wouldnt have been possible without Joseph.
We came to Buca di Beppo the shrimp fra diavolo was delicious and the atmosphere of the restaurant was amazing! Joseph thanks for the recommendation it was really good and your service was even better!
Huge portions. Food can use a bit more flavor. Great ambience.
Great overall experience. Food was delicious and good portions. We got the trio platter and stuffed shells. Staff and manager were very friendly. Our server was German, and he was very friendly and helpful. We had someone with a dietary allergy and he helped us pick an alternative.
For many years we dined at Buca every month. However, we stopped going after several price hikes that didnt justify simple pasta dishes. Armed with a decent coupon, we decided to finally go back. The food was very good, but more impressive was our server, Timothy. He went above and beyond to provide the best service we have ever received at any Buca. For that alone we will likely come back, but the coupon did help.
The portions are huge and good for sharing. Spaghetti with meatballs were 8.5/10 and the broccoli 9/10.We also got spicy chicken rigatoni 9/10They also have a nice compensatory touch of taking a photo and printing it for you.
Hostesses, and server / bartender Nick were amazing! Matthew the busses was working really hard and cleaning up tables just moments of parties leaving. Making it quicker to be seated if you didnt have a reservation, like us. Everyone was so friendly despite it being close to the last hour of business. We celebrate my birthday there and they were wonderful. Food was delicious, piping hot and brought out in a short time. Nick was incredibly attentive despite being on double duty. Hostesses made us feel welcomed even though we had gotten our reservation mixed up. Highly suggest you make reservations and give them a visit. They have two floors available for dining and a bar, with great staff.
Great tasting food! Whats referred to as small menu items can easily feed 3 to 4 people (which, thankfully, our server told us about before we ordered). Service was very good. Nice atmosphere. NOTE: A large part of the dining area is upstairs (2 flights- if there was an elevator it wasnt mentioned - our greeter just took the stairs.
Joseph is an amazing waiter and went above and beyond when he served us. Anything we asked he delivered and his great personality made the experience amazing. Thank you Joseph for all your hard work.
We got seated upstairs but had to wait 30mins before someone addressed us, however the server apologized. Its my first time here so everything on the menu was listed as "small" and I didnt realize how much a small plate would be, its actually a pretty good size which would suffice for 2 people. The reason for my negative review is we have asked for garlic bread and a pizza when both turned out to be a disaster. Both dishes are filled with raw chopped garlic which was giving out a pungent taste, I understand that italian dishes use garlic(Ive been to many restaurants all these yearsbut not this raw overloading the other flavors totally. We couldnt have more than one slice each, a very overrated place for me. Wouldnt recommend going back again.
This is our usual location & we never have any real issues here. Crowding and long wait times are to be expected as it is at Universal, but its never too horrific. Be careful if you are not ok with stairs though, as this is a GIANT location where you have to go up multiple flights of stairs just to be seated.Food is delicious though. We love the rigatoni & the spicy shrimp pasta. The garlic bread is also pretty delicious. The GIANT portions also help with give our family of 3 a second meal the next day. Great for groups!
Buca di Beppo is always a good choice! Wonderful food and service! Thank you Albert James! Featured in this picture is the Fettuccine Alfredo, with added chicken and broccoli
This place is fantastic! The portions are large, but filling and perfect for leftovers. Joseph is an awesome server, prompt and generous. Check it out, some of the best Italian food on the City Walk!
Amazing food. Huge portions. My husband and I love to come here after being in the Universal Park or after seeing a movie at AMC while the traffic dies down. Great place to relax and enjoy an evening.
Really enjoyed the carbonara and the huge fudge brownie sundae - portions are huge! Service is so friendly too.
Fantastic food! The servers were wonderful, special thank you to Joseph for taking good care of us. He was polite and deserves a raise!!! Great place. Highly recommend!
The food was ok, if there was another Italian restaurant at City Walk I will go instead. The service was good, the young man that served us was polite and the food was served fast. We were given a table that was right behind a table that was been used and my boys couldnt move their chairs to sit down, there were many empty tables for us to sit without having to ask to be moved to a better location. I wouldnt mind going back if Im really craving Italian food during my visit to Universal.
The biggest thing I can think of about this place is their portions. Holy cow! Each item can EASILY be shared by 2 people. Im a pretty big dude and I was starving when we came in. I couldnt finish mine. Each dish was served with a side plate and a serving spoon. Its obvious these portions are meant to be shared amongst the table family style Italian style. Things to consider when dining here, sharing an order and go for a walk after. Enjoy!
Enjoyed some delicious pizza and antipasta salad. Drinks were divine! Our waiter was VERY attentive and kind and everything was delivered fast despite them being busy. The experience was just wonderful overall. Would definitely eat here again! I highly recommend the Old fashioned here, my partner who doesnt like most beverages LOVED this.
Food didnt taste great. Meat sauce for ravioli had a very odd flavor. Pizza was super salty. Asked our waited sizing suggestions. 2 adults and 3 kids(11, 10 and 9). Said large. We ordered cesar salad, pizza and ravioli. Only hate half thr pizza and half the pasta. Wish we would have ordered small sizes.
Came here for a birthday dinner and Joseph was a wonderful waiter! He helped us along the way and was very personable. Would definitely come back if Joseph was my waiter again. Stuffed shells were great!
My family and I stopped in for a quick bite while visiting Universal Studios Hollywood. Typically with kids it’s hard to find a eatery they all enjoy. Luckily Buca has something for everyone. We ordered the appetizer Buca Trio Platter that came with fried calamari, spicy shrimp, and mozzarella sticks as well as bread sticks. Unfortunately, my hungry munchkins tore into the appetizer’s before I could snap a quick pic. For dinner we went with a large pepperoni pizza, always a crowd pleaser. We also went with a small order of chicken parmigiana, and a large spaghetti to all share. The food was decent, nothing to memorable for the price point. However our server Demetri was very friendly and attentive which he deserves a 5 star for his service. I’m sure when next we visit Universal Studios Hollywood, we’ll definitely be back.
Albert J was a great server he recommended some great dishes and warned us about the large portions but we didn’t listen and have food to go so no problem 😆 definitely recommend stopping by. The food was served in a timely manner and it was delicious. For how busy they were they were extremely attentive !
Our server Joesph was wonderful! Food was great, and the quality was excellent. We will definitely be coming back here next time we go to Universal Studios.
Food is superb! Ordered Marina seafood, calamari and lemon with buttered chicken and garlic bread with red and white sweet wine! Love everything! Our server is Joseph and he did the best and excellent service too ! Will definitely come back! 5 thumbs up! ❤️❤️❤️
The food was great, fettuccine chicken Alfredo is very delicious, my wife loves it. Joseph was very helpful
We stopped here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. It was a 40 minute wait which was ok we were able to walk around and shop while we waited. Our server was great so was our meal. This location taste way better than any other location weve eaten at. All of them are good but this one tasted the best. Its an hour away from our house but we will return next time we are in the area.
My best friend and I always come here and we love the ziti and garlic bread. We had the pleasure of having Joseph as our server today! He is fantastic :)
Amazing service here. The food is always delicious here and leaves me very satisfied. Our server Joseph was very attentive in ensuring we got everything we ordered along with checking up on us if we needed anything else. Would recommend coming here for any group gathering events.
Delicious food. We enjoyed the calamari a lot! The apple Gorgonzola salad was amazing. Pasta and salmon to die for. Our waiter Joseph was very very attentive, really helpful and friendly. He made our experience even more special.
Absolutely loved the service of an employee Joseph!! I give him 5 stars for being on top of all of our needs!! Helped us understand the size with absolute kindness!! Definitely recommend to come dine in!
Went to eat dinner after a day at Universal Studios Hollywood. This place had great fast and friendly customer service. We had baked ragitoni, Caesar salad, garlic bread and fried calamari. This was our first time at Bucca, the portions were big portions. Baked rigatoni was very tasty. Calamari delicious, garlic bread was ok nothing spectacular. Caesar salad was also very good and fresh. I would recommend this place.
Such an amazing staff, and the Food is FANTASTIC! Just some advise, watch the serving sizes on the menu, its pretty accurate. We ordered the large speghetti... it could seriously feed 12 people.... so much food!!! The Salmon is so so good too. And the complementary postcard photo is a really nice touch. We would recommend this place to anyone, any time! Happy Dining!
Great place to eat with family. Great food and service. Love the atmosphere. Especially thanks to our server Albert James ❤.
The food was delicious, and the service was beyond my expectations. Our server was Albert whose attentiveness and great attitude definitely makes you want to come back again.
I LOVE this place! The food, service, quality, everything. There are certain times that we wait a bit, but it is worth it. Weve tried everything from their stuffed shells to their pizza and always have enjoyed every single bite. (Pictured: A bit of fettuccine Alfredo, stuffed shells and my favorite, brussel sprouts.)
Great atmosphere in this place! The food tastes AWESOME. Theres cool pictures all over the walls. You might get lost inside this place and there are a lot of stairs but I liked that part. They didnt have their lunch menu available so we had to order family style. The small dishes serve 3 people and the large serve 5. Really tasty pasta, chicken parmesan, shrimp, and garlic bread. Yo7 HAVE to eat here if youre going to Universal. Make sure you call ahead and make a reservation though, you could have a long wait.
From the elevator for handicapped to the birthday song, everything was fine. Just look at the size of those plates. So delicious at a reasonable cost.
Fun family style restaurant. All food is shared so it’s fun with big groups. These places are always huge so there’s plenty of room for big parties. And the food is pretty good. Tastes like good home cooking.
We are regular customers and most of the time We loved the food but today was beyond disappointed. This pizza looked and tasted like the frozen one from the supermarket or worse. First when I saw the size I thought this supposed to feed 3 peoples? Then when We tasted it we said Costco make better pizzas than this.
Overall excellent, service was spot on. We had a birthday to celebrate at the office so we ordered catering style. Virginia who took my order was so pleasant and helpful my goodness she deserves all the stars. She followed up with my order kept me informed step by step. Food arrived at exactly the time she had promised me the day before. Her customer service is magnificent. The food is very good, nice and warm fresh out of the oven. We got The lasagna which was a Hit!! Everyone’s favorite for sure and spaghetti with meatballs. Overall everyone at the office were satisfied. I’ll definitely order from here again since the holidays are approaching. Thank you Virginia I was very pleased with the service you provided.
